Day 99, Day 57 of flower.
Decided to enter this grow in the Tent-X competition. https://growdiaries.com/giveaways/TrolMaster-Tent-X-Ultimate-Grow-Challenge.
As this is the 4th weekly post using the equipment (as required by the competition rules), I'll take this chance to summarize my use of it. As previously stated, unfortunately I couldn't get to use it to it's full potential and as such my initial reaction was somewhat negative. This, however is not the company's fault. My setup simply requires an upgrade to be able to get more from it, eg, my LED lights are getting on in years and the updated model has the required cable interface to control the lights.
Let me get the negatives out of the way... No wireless or bluetooth to enable the use of the app. It has to be connected to your router via ethernet cable. In 2024 really? This is just not practical for my setup. Having a look at the company's supplementary equipment designed to be used with the Tent-X controller, it seems very pricey to me. Way so for my pocket.
On the flip-side I can perfectly understand that those with larger operations could benefit from the automating system. I do like the fact I don't have to open the tent to check temp/RH levels. The info is there, together on the controller screen. Don't know what's going on with my last batch of hygrometers but I've had 2 fail over the period of using the controller. I do have a trusted one that I use to compare with the controller output. Hygrometers can be temperamental but I have complete faith in the readings provided by the controller, as validated by my good hygrometer readings. I do like the dangling RH/Temp sensor so that it sits in the canopy for accurate readings.
In summary, my initial reaction was harsh and had I compatible equipment would have benefited more from it. It's not something I'd given much thought to previously so I'm grateful to TrolMaster for giving the chance to try their equipment and for reminding me to think at the possibilities when considering the updating of my kit, such as lights.
Trichomes are cloudy now. but still no signs of ambers yet, although my eyes think they see the starts of it in places with the digital microscope. Until I can give visual confirmation, I think its some wishful thinking.
Moved last week to PHd water flush @ 500ml every day. Going forward this should encourage the push for ambers.
More next time!
As always, thanks for stopping by and showing an interest. It really is appreciated. π
Please feel free to comment or like my journal.
Coming along nicely. Have you thought about super cropping as training them to desired canopy? Definitely an HST of cracking and bending the branches. But I've seen some amazing shapes using the technique. Sucks your equipment isn't working right for you. All that money for Temp and RH monitor. What they want is for you to buy their compatible lights too. Keep up the great work though your plants look great.
I love my Sativa's. You'll have to let me know what the smoke is like. I've been wanting to grow this strain as well. Looks Great and healthy. Keep it up.
