Soaked overnight and sowed directly in substrate with some nutrient-less pro mix that was sterilized in the center. Sprouted in 3 days. Doing this alongside Barneys Liberty Haze in the adjacent tent when I flip them to flower.
Everything going smoothly. Not needing much attention watered two times lightly with sprayer. Last picture is day 9 I got a little behind on taking pictures. Both this and the liberty hazy got slightly leggy I didn't have the light close enough. They seemed to want to stretch right into the 300 par range right away. Which i don't mind a whole lot it will give me a little extra space to work with and not have bottom nodes so close to the soil.
Things are going well for this little plant. Seems to be a good seed as it is looking particularly strong at the moment the stem is already feeling like a branch and the leaves are quite large and green. Looks like I overwatered at some point this week but they bounced back okay.
My plant is growing strong and loving life so far. I'm going to top both this and the liberty haze soon and hit them with some boogie brew in the next week. Setting up a 4x8 right now for a Nevilles haze grow soon and may transfer everything from the cool grows 2x3 to the 4x8 and use the extra space while I veg out the Nevilles and use my ac infinity controller from that tent to use on my drying tent with my two Durban plants after harvest.
Started the week upload at beginning of thus last week as i was getting behind and wanted to get caught up.
End of week 4 the Black Jack got its main stem topped, and some of the leaves defoliated. It is already developing a nice canopy and bushing out nicely. It's almost double the size of my Liberty Haze started at the same time. The stem is already very thick and sturdy. Nice big fan leaves counted 10 fingers on a few.
Everything is going very smoothly for the Black Jack. Its showing fast strong growth, and the coloration looks amazing and no signs of stress at all. Its developing a nice structure to scrog, its will be topped again in a week or so along with the Liberty Haze. Overall they are both doing extremely well both Showing some massive fan leafs with thick juicy stems. They both got haircuts today, and I saved all the best leaves to eat in a salad or on a veggie burger. The rest got fed to the worms that looked hungry. Then after trimming they got a top dress of dry amendments mixed into my homemade worm castings, and watered pretty heavy. Also they were moved from my cool grows 3x2 tent under the vipar p1000, and are now in my Gorilla Grow Lite 4x8 that finally arrived. They are now growing under my two Bestva Bat 650watt lights set to around 50-60 percent. Just finishing out flowering my two Durban Poison in the 2 Ac Infinity 3x3 tents then the liberty haze and black jack will get transplanted into the 30 gallon pots in the next few weeks. Also pictured are the durban clones/moms and my Galaxy Mom that got moved from my drying tent to make room for the durban to harvest soon. The two 30 gallon pots are for Nevilles Haze and the two 5 gallons are Seedsman Alaskan Diesel Auto and Critical 2.0 I have from a friend I figured I would give a try while the Neville's haze is vegging.
Little bit of a rough week, hence the late update lol but at least a slow one as far as the Black Jack was concerned. Got some sort of stomach virus last Thursday and spend most of the week recovering. I sowed my Neveilles Haze and the autos the night before then both the humidifiers decided it was time to leak everywhere. Other than dampening the seedlings and filling the tank I was unable to tend to the plants Friday. It was getting dry so i dimmed the lights a little turned the fan down and when was watering sprayed the floor with a little water. One of the Nevilles Haze didn't sprout but the other one did and both autos sprouted so i decided to soak the last Nevilles seed and sow it because I was counting on only doing those two for the entire 4x8 and it has not sprouted yet either. So if it doesn't sprout I'm not sure what my plans are, I may try to run the Liberty and Black Jack in the 4x8 grow the 1 Nevilles Haze out and get clones of it, the run it in the 4x8.
Black Jack super happy right now. Counted some finger leaves and node spacing is nice and starting to bush out on the canopy. Thinking about topping 1 more time before i start to train them a little under a net. Besides a few of the lowers i plan on using for clones, all the shoots are at a nice canopy level and getting nice light. The plants don't seem to bothered by the slight defoliation last week and have already replaced it with new growth. Going to try to just tuck the leaves the best i can and keep the defoliation to at minimal as possible. Ate some of those fan leaves last week on a veggie burger and it was not bad.
Shes getting big. Decided to top/fim the tops one more time at the end of the week. Main stem is getting quite thick and the leaves are showing happy new growth. Also starting to bush out quite a bit too. Going to have some nice stalks to choose for clones.
Kinda slow this week for the plants. Was working on making room for the other plants so I coumd put the scrog screens in place. Cold and dry week, mostly just filling the humidifiers, and watering. Go some snow this week and decided to go snowboard a few
days and get my mind off all the work.
Black jack Is getting big!
The Gorilla tent was getting way to overfilled, so I got rid of the clones and got my other veg tent setup to house the auto-flowers and moms along with next Runs of photos I plan on starting.
The Black Jack is getting huge, so I transplanted into 30 gallon once I had the room, once that was done I set up the scrog nets. The black jack was super easy to train under and I had the perfect amount of branches to almost fill the whole canopy in one go. I think the plan is to ket them veg another two weeks or so them flip to flower.
Black jack is getting big. It got a top dressing a mix of veg and bloom mixed into a few cups of my worm castings, as they are transitioning, as well as a watering in with liquid kelp, pure protein, and Azomite. Tested my solution EC was around 700. Drinking a ton of water, been dumping around 3- 3 1/2 gallons in each 30 pot about every other day this week. Did alittle defoliation but not much, mainly just the lower stuff to get it away from the soil. Was thinking I was going to need to veg for another week but i may flip them to flower today. Id rather be safe than sorry as far as room goes.
This was the last week of veg for this Black Jack. Drinking around 3 gallons every other day now, and a batch of boogie brew at the end if the week. It was a strong batch so diluted it down, and all the plants got some. Got some defoliation done to her too spending most of my time down low and removing suckers and anything below the net that wasn't reaching the canopy. Up top removing mostly older leaves, just trying to get a little airflow and light. The stem split seems to be healing okay and Im sure the branch would be close to dying by now if it wasn't. I was going to wait a few more days to make it and even 11 weeks but in a change if events I decided to move the Liberty Haze back into the veg tent for now and replaced it with the Nevilles that is going to stretch a lot more and is needing to be flipped now. I think once the Black Jack is done flowering I may get through most of floweringww the Liberty Haze before the Nevilles is even finished. I think the Liberty can handle and will even benefit from the longer veg so it is a win-win. I think i should be able to train it without needing a scrog net in place.
First week of flower. Shes stretching and filling out nice. Decided to go with another top dress as she is getting massive. About 2 cups worth of a mix of my dry amendments and the calijuana castings mixed into some potting mix.followed by another batch of boogie brew at the end of the week. Also decided to put some mulch down as I don't think I will be needing to top dress again. Steadily drinking a few gallons of water a day. The tent did get kind of hot a few days for some reason up to 85. Still waiting on my replacement humidifier the one I have is having a hard time keeping up. Going to move the nicer Govee one i have for now from the veg tent to the flower tent , it seems like all the extra plant's in the veg tent and lower powered lights may be a better match for the humidifier I have in the flower tent.
Shes stretching! And showing some flowers. Very thick canopy. Its stretching a little more in the center of its own light and where the lights overlap in the center of the tent shes not stretching as much. I hope it evens out a little. Currently running the lights 100 percent but i may start dimming them a little as its been getting a little warm in the tent, and shes been drinking alot. Mt humidifier is still struggling to keep up with the light. So i set it on a schedual at full blast instead of auto mode which was using is own hydrometer which it causing it to cut off before my threshold on my controler is reached. I think i will do one more top dress and one more light defoliation and let them ride the rest of flower out on some compost tea.
The black jack is massive. Stretching is slowing down but she has really bushed out so I gave a defoliation at the end of the week.was beginning to not be able to see through the canopy at all and lots of bud sites were starting to get covered. Let her dry out quite a bit before watering again as I got my humidity levels back in check and I over watered last watering. Also think I need to water a little slower. I got used to how much the plants were drinking late veg into stretch but they have slowed down on the water uptake. So going to aim for slower more consistent waterings every other day. Just by judging the small size of the buds at the moment it does look like its going to be a 9-10 week strain at least.
The Black Jack seems to like the haircut I gave her a few weeks ago. Noticed the lower stuff starting to push through to the canopy, and more even light distribution. Shes still fairly dense and the new growth is lush. She seems like she wants some of the older fan leaves removed again, but this time more up top where i left most of them from the last defoliation where i was thining the middle and lower canopy. Started to feed all the plants cal mag and it seems to be helping their overall health. I also gave her a few feeds with liquid kelp mixed in with Buddha bloom to balance out the ph. Shes starting to smell more than I would expect for the size and stage of the buds and also starting to show some trichomes. Going to keep feeding this week. With how big my plants are starting to get I think I might bump my flowering pots up to 50 gallon. Running my lights back to full strength as I slowed my humidity issue for the most part with my other humidifier running on full blast. I didn't have them dimmed much but wanted to tone it down a bit while i got my Neville's to recover. It seems like having my lights all the way at the top of the tent and getting the plants in at the right time they are able to stretch right into the perfect light intensity they desire without me having to move the lights, but it gets hard to control with the two 650 watt lights going and only two plants. My veg tent holds a way more reasonable humidity without having to add to much. The tops of the black jack are around 1000 ppfd and lowers around 700 and don't seem to be stressed by it but with the lower humidity she is working hard and thirsty.
Opening the tent up this week I was blasted with super sweet and fruity terps. The Black Jack is starting to eat up its old fan leaves. I opted to take much of the old stuff as the new growth is green and bushy and to improve the airflow and gave some light to a few bud sites as well. I lost power this week, but only for a few hours and the flower tent was off so it wasent to much a big deal. I had to scramble to get lights on in my veg tent
This is my favorite time of the grow. The flowers are stacking quick, shes starting to smell more and putting on a ton of trichomes. The smell is still sweet with the addition of a slight skunky fruity aroma. She is starting to fade more and more, and the leaves are getting a nice golden delicious apple color. She drank about 3 gallons of liquid every 2 days and just plain water at the end of the week. I dimmed the light a tad because the Neville's next door is not liking the heat and it should help finish off the back jack nicely too. II was a little worried I was pushing the plants too hard and they would suffer but it looks like i will still be getting top shelf despite less than optimal condition's and having such a large plant. I think I may up my pot size to 50 for these 1 plant scrogs and try to do no till. Should inly be another week or two from the looks if things but I want to give her all the time she needs. Looking like yield should be pretty nice too.
Buds are starting to get quite large. Bigger than I thought they would. Nice cone shape to them and completely covered in trichomes. Shes starting to get skunky. Shes devouring her old leaves so I and leaving them on. This is the last week I'm going to add any feed and water with regular ph'ed water. From the looks of it I don't think she will need to go to week 9 but depending on how the buds are stacking I may let her get bigger.
It was the last week for the Black Jack and I was kind of sad to cut it down. I wanted to go the full 9 weeks of flower but she was telling me she was ready. I couldn't wait another week to get the Liberty Haze in its place either. It took an hour just to cut down/hang and remove most of the crispy and yellow leaves. Have a 3x3 set up for drying and have it dialed in and filled it with 5 hangers from the plant. Cut it into chunks as big as i could fit on the hangers. I weighed the buds wet this time just to get an idea of how much they loose during drying. She got light dose if Buddha bloom and some brix/molasses this week as she was starving.l'm still learning when to harvest but I like a more heady high so Its sometimes hard to tell when the trichomes are past my preference but I want to let a plant flower a week or two after its "supposed" to really have a gauge on it.l next time. But i think I hit it at a good time. Will update the harvest soon. I think this one will need the full 2 weeks drying even though I have my dry tent in the basement now instead if my garage with ac/heater It stays about 64 in the basement and i was having a hard time keeping it down to 60 anyway out my studio without the heater and ac constantly battling, and the ac freezing over. I forgot to take pictures of it on the racks and the setup but i will update
Wow. What a fast-growing, productive, and beautiful plant. The flowers she produced did not disappoint at all. Although I didn't get to flower as long as I wanted, I still think I got some exceptional buds. The structure is a little more airy than I thought but the buds are still heavy with trichomes. The smells early in flower were very sweet terpinolene dominant, but as she got deeper into flower started getting sort of skunky. While trimming and smoking it has a mixture of sweet pine mixed followed by fuel and is slightly skunky. My growing environment was maybe slightly warm at times and maybe led to not as dense of structure but I got a lot of nice medium large top colas enough for a joint or two. I was able to smoke some while I was trimming and It wasn't harsh or anything, and very potent, but functional at the same time. It didn't burn completely white but pretty close. I think once it "cures" a little it will burn very clean. It's like night and day difference smoking homegrown stuff compared to whatever I could get my hands on at a dispensary before across all the strains I've grown so far.
Drying took 13 days at 60-70 degrees and 60 percent humidity. And I think they dried very nice. Trimming along with setting up and jaring everything took nearly 12 hours by myself. Little over 17 Ounce trimmed buds and 7 Ounce of trim and larf. I may need to get some bubble hash bags or doing some dry sift. Also might start trying to do paper bag cures on my buds and not jaring them up right away but i seem to be getting nice buds this way and smoke pretty good right after drying. With my last few grows I noticed i do need to burp/rotate buds once or twice the following week but after that they seem to be pretty stable. Maybe I will just test some of my next round and cure in paper bags and see how it compares.
Made some canna coconut oil with 2 oz of the larf and use the rest to make dry sift with my trim bowl. Seemed to work pretty good!
