Dropped in warm distilled water ... in a dark container within the grow tent ... with one of the tent heaters pointed at the container. Will be going straight into 3gal fabric pot with 70% fresh FF Ocean Forest and 30% old soil (from recent harvest). Should make the FFOF a bit less hot (for a seedling) ... will amend as necessary.
Plant popped with only one cotyledon ... not sure if the other got knocked off by the shell or what - I didn't touch anything. Day two brought a sigh of relief, though ... the true leaves are still BOTH coming in and doesn't seem to be stunted too much, yet.
Another week ... everything has a slight yellow tint to it when it first emerges - then turns more green later. Not sure what causes that - nitrogen deficiency? In either case, she grew outward quite a bit this week - but not much upward growth.
I'm not sure if I will top this girl or not ... my 4 Ass Monkey has responded amazingly well to topping (my largest plant so far) ... but since this one is slightly yellow, I'm not sure if I should or not. I might just stick with LST for this lady. We'll see!
I decided to go ahead and top her. The 4-ass was topped and is the biggest/healthiest plant I've had. I'm hoping it's just rock solid genetics from Mephisto ... we'll see. This girl did start out a bit rough, though.
The leaves looked ... "different" ... than usual??!! A little on the pale side ... a little wilted, kinda. So, I thought I'd give this foliar spray a shot - organic ... seems ok ... actually smells decent (no fishy poo smell). I think they use peppermint oil in it - so, it'll act as a natural insect repellent (not that it matters in my sealed tent). Leaves look a little healthier after first use ... will let it rest a couple days, then give it another spritz.
She has some very fat leaves ... likely to lean heavily on the Indica side ... getting bigger every day and looks healthy for the time being ... just about time for her to start that massive stretch phase ... trying to get ahead of things on make sure there's enough N available to flourish.
Update, near the end of the week ... I think it's time to start training her. She was getting tall quickly - now time for her to spread her wings and fly!! :)
after some LST last week, she's filled in very nice ... she's staying nice and even at the canopy ... just waiting for those two dominant colas to show themselves ... it should be coming this week - explosive growth.
Couple more days ... her canopy is nice and flat at the moment - with minimal LST needed. Normally there's 2-4 branches/nodes that just want to tower above the rest and I'd need to bend those back 3-4 times .... I evened this girl out once and she's only needed minor adjustments to that. She's growing upward very evenly for the past couple days - not sure if that means she's stressed a bit, or what.
I was on vacation for this whole week. The lights failed to come on twice - which meant two full days without any light at all. Not sure how that will affect everything in the end (good or bad)
Buds are coming in quite nicely ... looks like she got hit with a bit of nitrogen deficiency the week I was gone, but it wasn't too serious. The buds are filling in pretty dense so far as I can tell ... no super rock hard nugs or anything, but on par with my other Mephisto grow.
She's starting to show the sugar as well. Nothing to write home for at this point - maybe she'll get more frosty toward the end. Still at least 3-4 weeks left, best guess.
Going well, I think .... not a huge plant, but the buds are filling in nice and firm ... and are starting to get fuzzier. Smelling gas ... and some sort of fruit (more subtle than citrus - so maybe a strawberry gas smell, or something).
Alrighty ... so, this was a sad week in general for my grow room. I'd just harvested my 4-Ass Monkey a couple weeks before, and I was going to give this girl another week or two ... but, then the dreaded happened - I found a seed ... then another ... oh SHIT. Keep in mind, I went on vacation about a month ago - and on two days when I was gone, the lights did not come on in the morning. That means it had two periods of ~30hours of dark.
I looked at every node on this girl and did not actually find any nanners - but based on what I read online, it was probably a hermie deep inside a bud and didn't pollenate too far out. Regardless, I had to perform an emergency removal and harvest. I didn't want her pollenating the giant Ghost Toof I had sitting right next to her (note: I found ONE seed on that girl last week when I harvested this one, but none since then).
She is still pretty frosty - and I'm hoping she gives a good buzz, but I'm not expecting top shelf or anything due to the stress I know she had ... and if there were any seeds growing, that reduces potency - so, we'll see!
