Weekly Report for Seedlings (01.05.2024 - 07.05.2024)
Welcome back to "Schroedinger's Plants," my experimental grow diary where the outcome of our gamble with CALMAG FUSION is still unfolding. With our high-stakes setup and new equipment, every observation is critical. Here’s a detailed report of the first week of growth for our key players: Apple Strudel, Tropicana Cookies, and Gorilla Zkittlez.
Overview
This report covers the first week of growth, documenting light cycles, water and nutrient administration, environmental conditions, and observations.
Key Observations and Actions
01.05.2024 - 03.05.2024:
Seedlings started in a healthy condition.
Alfa Boost nutrient introduced at 1ml/L with consistent pH of 6.5.
Environmental conditions stable with a day temperature of 24°C and night temperature of 20°C.
04.05.2024:
Increased water to 0.3L with a slight decrease in pH to 6.3.
Height recorded as follows:
Apple Strudel 5 cm.
Tropicana Cookies
05.05.2024:
No nutrient administration, maintaining previous watering regimen.
Temperature slightly lower at 23°C during the day and 18°C at night.
Humidity levels stable.
06.05.2024:
Water increased to 0.5L with pH 6.3.
Slight wilting and mild leaf bleaching observed, possibly indicating issues with water, light, humidity, or pH adjustment of foliar spray.
Investigated potential causes: under-watering, too much light, high relative humidity, unadjusted pH of AlfaBoost foliar spray.
07.05.2024:
Water reduced to 0.3L with a slight pH increase to 6.4.
Introduced BioBizz TopMax nutrient at 0.5ml/L. This is primarily a bloom nutrient I know, but it was the only thing laying around to be used. My informed guess is, that the seedling lack some magnesium, since they are only planted in straight Coco Coir and did not yet reach the nutrient denser layer beneath them. So this was me improvising on the fly.
Environmental conditions: Day temperature 24°C, night temperature 20°C, and adjusted humidity to 64%.
Mild nutrient solution applied, PPFD adjusted to approximately 180 µmol/m²/s, and leaves cleaned with distilled water to prevent further damage from light magnification by water droplets.
Summary
Overall, the seedlings have shown healthy growth in the first week with consistent environmental conditions. Minor issues such as slight wilting and leaf bleaching were observed towards the end of the week, prompting adjustments in watering practices, light intensity, and nutrient management. As we navigate the high stakes of "Schroedinger's Plants," each observation helps us fine-tune our approach to support optimal growth.
