Week 7 Grow Diary Report: Days 43-49
Overview:
In the seventh week of our grow diary "Schrödinger's Plants," we focused on managing nutrient deficiencies and pH imbalances to ensure healthy growth. The primary concerns this week were magnesium lockout in Tropicana Cookies and minor issues with new growth and chlorosis in Apple Strudel.
Plant Progress:
1. Tropicana Cookies:
Growth: The plants continued to develop, though magnesium lockout posed a challenge.
Health: Magnesium lockout persisted through most of the week, causing chlorosis in the middle section of the plants.
Interventions:
12.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application.
13.06.2024: Applied 4 liters of water with a pH of 6.2, including Alfa Boost (2 ml/L) and Top Max (1 ml/L). Added soil with a pH of 6.0 to address pH imbalance.
14.06.2024: 1 liter of water with a pH of 6.3, including 4 g/L Epsom salt to address magnesium deficiency. Also performed a foliar application of Epsom salt (4 g/L).
15.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application. Continued foliar application of Epsom salt.
16.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application. Noted slight improvement in chlorosis with soil pH adjusted to 6.3-6.5.
17.06.2024: Applied 5 liters of water with a pH of 6.3, observed improvement in magnesium lockout.
18.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application. Noted potential P/K lockout.
Observations: Gradual improvement in magnesium lockout, but vigilance needed for P/K lockout.
2. Gorilla Zkittlez:
Growth: Continued healthy growth with no major issues.
Health: Plants remained in good health throughout the week.
Interventions:
12.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application.
13.06.2024: Applied 4 liters of water with a pH of 6.3, including Alfa Boost (2 ml/L) and Top Max (1 ml/L).
14.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application.
15.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application.
16.06.2024: Applied 5 liters of water with a pH of 6.2, including Alfa Boost (2 ml/L) and Top Max (1 ml/L). Maintained soil pH at 6.3-6.5.
17.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application.
18.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application.
Observations: Consistent health and growth, no signs of nutrient deficiencies or imbalances.
3. Apple Strudel:
Growth: Continued growth with minor issues in new growth and slight chlorosis.
Health: Minor new growth issues and chlorosis observed.
Interventions:
12.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application. Noted minor new growth and slight chlorosis.
13.06.2024: Applied 4 liters of water with a pH of 6.3, including Alfa Boost (2 ml/L) and Top Max (1 ml/L). Added soil with a pH of 6 to address high soil pH (7-7.5).
14.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application. Observed minor new growth.
15.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application. Continued to observe minor new growth.
16.06.2024: Applied 5 liters of water with a pH of 6.3, including Alfa Boost (2 ml/L) and Top Max (1 ml/L). Adjusted soil pH to 6.3-6.5.
17.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application. Continued observation of minor new growth.
18.06.2024: No watering or nutrient application. Continued observation of minor new growth.
Observations: Continued minor new growth issues, slight chlorosis. Monitoring and adjusting soil pH.
General Observations and Actions:
pH Management: Adjustments made to correct soil pH and improve nutrient uptake, particularly for Tropicana Cookies and Apple Strudel.
Nutrient Management: Regular applications of Alfa Boost and Top Max, supplemented with Epsom salt to address magnesium deficiency.
Monitoring and Maintenance: Continued close monitoring of plants for signs of nutrient deficiencies or imbalances. Adjustments made based on observations and soil tests.
Conclusion:
Week 7 focused on addressing magnesium lockout and minor new growth issues. Tropicana Cookies showed improvement after pH adjustments and Epsom salt applications. Gorilla Zkittlez remained healthy with consistent growth. Apple Strudel required ongoing monitoring for new growth and chlorosis. That beeing said, all Schroedingers Plants are beginning to show signs of the Calmag overdose, whether it's Lockout (Tropicana), small new growth (Apple Strudel) oder a stunted dark green appearance (Gorilla). Finishing them is going to be one hell of a ride.
Anyways, I hope you find value in this.
Cheers,
D.
