started to use bloom feed this week @ 3ml/l and took veg feed down to 2ml/l. I've taken most of the ties off now as the plant is the width and shape I need it (maybe next time I'll try manifolding it) I'm going to use pk soon but don't want to overdo it so I'm being cautious ! also as I think I've said before I use fish tank water from my goldfish every other watering.

OK so it says 8 week flower time , I started 12/12 before the plant showed its sex and it was day 14 of 12/12 before the first pistils showed.so do I go 8 weeks from 12/12 or 8 weeks from the first pistils ?

Hey there @Kalikushmush! Your Flowering started Week 7 between "day 16" and "day 18" pictures. Most of the confusion in this topic is actually about what pistils are "Prefloweing pistils" and what pistils are "Flowering pistils". The Pistils that show at the base of the stem next to the stipules show the sex of the plant are Preflowering pistils(week 7 'pistles' picture). The pistils that grow from the budsights creating the actual buds themselves are the flowering pistles (week 7 'day 18' picture). If you are looking to time how long the Flowering stage is then you will want to use the FLOWERING PISTLES from "day 18" pictures.. If you are looking at a nutrient chart this is considered "early flower". The preflower pistils that show sex are considered the 'transition stage' on most nutrient charts and are included in the veg section in most diaries. I hope that helps clear some of the confusion. Long story short: Sex pistiles are not Flowering pistles and your week 5 and 6 were veg you started flowering week 7. I hope that helps! 😎

why does my soil PH keep going up ? I'm adding water at PH 4.5 and feed at pH 4.5 (alternate) to try and lower it, I add 4 litres and have run off between 1-2 litres but the run off is always 7.4+ at first and 6.2 after the run off.is this normal ?

Just a small thought...in the podcast i listened to tonight they mentioned that soil that gets dry has a tendecy to have the EC and such go significantly higher. They were stressing the importance of accurate and consistent watering practices. Do you ever let the soil get just a little bit dryer than you'd like? Or have some days that you just skip watering? I know im guilty of having some longer dry periods until i realized my 1 gallon pots needed water every day and sometimes twice.✌️ i hope you find the solution. I know soil does have incredible buffering capacity though so if your ph is staying below the 7-7.3 range i wouldn't worry. Ph runoff seems to usually be higher than the initial input water. Perhaps the nutrients and the organic material both cause it.

thanks for all the replies . I'm really liking this site. @CRiSPrGrow thanks for the reply, I was more wondering so I had a better idea of when to when to start feeding PK and when to stop feeding for the flush.

@LittleBigTrees, haha yeah these are tough questions my friend, i see why you ask now ! probably in week 4 of flower for PK for this strain, stop feeding when you're at 80% of milky trykes maybe... depends on the speed of the maturing

Congrats to your Harvest, Yes growing is a very nice hobby and totally addictive^^

it's very addictive , I can't help just looking at them ! I've got probably to many seeds for my tiny space and got them germinated and two weeks old already . when there big I'll cut some down and freeze them for daily smoothie . I also take fan leaves almost daily for smoothie's when the plants are older. but yeah I'm addicted to growing ! now I just need a bigger space !

@LittleBigTrees wrote “... I wish I'd used better soil to start and had more knowledge overall..” DON’T WE ALL?!! Excellent work. Looks typical and typically delicious. Mini failures and failings are par for the course. Don’t sweat if for a second. You’re well on you’re way to stress free, enjoyable growing. Remember they hardly need you. Like cats

magnesium deficiency, put the cal mag you'll be fine, cant really over do it on the cal mag
LittleBigTrees
LittleBigTrees
I've been giving it cal/mag from early on due to using coir mixed with soil but didn't realise there was way to much salts in the medium . now I've flushed it almost clean should I stick with 1ml/l as on the bottle or up it ? I haven't feed today as it's not dry enough yet but all my plants are looking better for a flush

Its kind of hard to tell what is going on by the pics. :( It's good to know she is bouncing back. Looks like she is a little overwatered? Good luck I will be following this one! Thanks for sharing.

@JayBoGart, yeah sorry about the pictures , they were more for my use then I decided to add a diary as I couldn't find one online for banana sativa. I'll try to get better pics in the future. I did wonder if the plant looked slightly mutant due to the 250w bulb (normally start under fluorescent bulb) but the other plants (mix of strains) all started out fine , either way since the banana sativa went in it's 15l pot its grown like crazy ! :-)

Hope i answered your questions about soil pH. Anything else just let me know. 👊
Mrs_Larimar

I wont be concerned with the ph of your soil. If your girls dont show up problems it is ok. You are nearly at the end of along grow and its possibe that you have a saltbuiltup( from fertilisers),

hey kalikushmush, i think see why you want to count the flowering weeks, probably so you can time the chop right? yeah dont do that, first the breeder almost always will give you a shorter flowering time than you will have, usually by two weeks, but sometimes more even. Second you should time the chop based on the trichome maturity not a (arbitrary?) number of weeks. get a 60x magnification, and check until you have 100% milky trichomes. Third it can take some plants over a week sometimes even two weeks to start flowering from the flip. So base yourself on when you actually see the flowers rather than when you flip. Hope this helps ! 🚀
