Week 1: Germination and Initial Setup
Dates: [Insert Dates]
Details:
Seeds: Cereal Milk (feminized)
Germination Method: Water glass method
Setup:
Medium: Lightly pre-fertilized soil
Containers: 200 ml paper cups
Lighting: 18 hours light / 6 hours dark (LED grow lights)
Temperature: 28°C (82°F) max
Humidity: 80%
Progress:
Seeds were placed in a glass of water until they cracked open and small roots began to emerge. After successful germination, the seeds were transferred into 200 ml paper cups filled with lightly pre-fertilized soil. The cups were then placed under LED grow lights with an 18/6 light cycle. The grow area was maintained at a maximum temperature of 28°C (82°F) and 80% humidity.
Observations:
All three seeds successfully germinated and were transplanted without issues.
Plants are looking healthy overall, with good initial growth.
Noted that 2 out of 3 plants are experiencing some stretching (also known as "spindling" or "etiolation"). This can occur due to insufficient light intensity or too much distance between the light source and the plants.
Actions Taken:
Lowered the LED grow lights slightly to increase light intensity and reduce stretching.
Ensured that the light cycle remains consistent at 18 hours on and 6 hours off.
Monitoring soil moisture levels to ensure proper hydration without overwatering.
Note: This grow diary will continue to Week 8 in another report, as the Cereal Milk plants are sharing the same grow room with my Cookies Gelato until Week 4.
Week Overview:
Everything is going smoothly! The plant is thriving and growing vigorously, showing strong development.
Highlights:
Growth: The plant has been pushing nicely and showing steady progress throughout the week.
Topping: I performed a topping at the end of Week 3 to encourage bushier growth and multiple colas.
Structure: The plant is slightly leaning to one side, but nothing concerning—it’s still growing well overall.
Looking forward to seeing how it responds to the topping in the upcoming week! 🌱
Week Overview:
This week has been all about steady progress and implementing new techniques to maximize growth.
Highlights:
Low-Stress Training (LST): Continued with LST to shape the plant and optimize light exposure for all bud sites.
Repotting: Successfully transplanted into a larger pot to give the roots more space to grow.
Vigor: The plants are full of energy and thriving—growth is vigorous, and they’re pushing hard!
Excited to see how the plant adapts to the new pot and training in the coming week! 🌿
Week Overview:
The plants are entering the flowering phase, and their growth has been remarkable this week.
Highlights:
Stretching: Significant vertical growth observed as the plants prepare for the flowering stage.
Bushy Structure: The plants have developed a dense, bushy structure with many tops, showing excellent response to the previous training.
Vigor: They’re thriving with noticeable energy, and the canopy is filling out beautifully.
Looking forward to seeing the first signs of flowers in the coming week! 🌸
Week Overview:
The plants are off to a fantastic start in the flowering phase, looking strong and healthy!
Highlights:
Health & Stability: The plant appears robust and well-balanced, showing no signs of stress or deficiencies.
Flower Development: The first calyxes have started to appear at the tips, marking the early flowering stage.
General Progress: Everything is on track—growth remains consistent, and the plant looks great overall.
Excited to see the bud sites develop further as we move deeper into the flowering phase! 🌼
Week Overview:
This week, I implemented some canopy management, and the plant continues to perform exceptionally well.
Highlights:
Lollipopping: Performed lollipopping to focus energy on the top bud sites. The plant responded beautifully and shows no signs of stress.
Bud Development: Buds are continuing to form and develop nicely—progress is steady and promising.
Strain Impressions: So far, I’m very impressed with the vigor and structure of this strain.
Looking forward to seeing how the buds swell and develop in the coming weeks! 🌿💐
Progress:
This week, the Cereal Milk plant showed signs of CalMag deficiency, causing lighter-colored leaves on the lower parts due to shading. After adjusting the light, the plant now receives sufficient light, and the deficiency is being addressed with supplements.
Observations:
Deficiency: CalMag deficiency treated with appropriate supplements.
Growth Issues: The plant exhibited some minor mutations, including skewed growth and leaves growing unusually. However, these did not affect its overall health or aroma.
Light Adjustment: Lower leaves initially showed lighter coloration due to shading but now receive adequate light.
Resin Production: Notable increase in resin production, with a tropical scent detectable on the fingers after handling the plant.
Additional Notes:
Plant Selection: Out of the original three plants, two have been removed:
One due to an undesirable phenotype.
Another affected by damping-off disease, causing it to become leggy and fall over despite attempts to stabilize it.
Surviving Plant: The remaining plant is the strongest and shows significant resin production, indicating a promising flowering phase ahead.
Summary:
Despite early challenges, the Cereal Milk plant is progressing well into the flowering stage. The CalMag deficiency has been addressed, and the plant is now receiving adequate light, contributing to healthier growth. Resin production is increasing, and the plant emits a delightful tropical aroma. With careful monitoring and continued care, the plant is expected to produce a robust yield.
Potassium Deficiency:
The plant is showing signs of potassium deficiency. I have slowly increased the BioGrow dosage as I was unsure about the exact needs. Fortunately, the deficiency symptoms stopped spreading over the last 3 days with a dose of 2 ml/L, and the buds are visually pushing better again.
Bloom Boost:
I’m now increasing the bloom boost since the plants are in their third flowering phase and starting to push new calyxes. I’m doing this a week earlier than the watering schedule suggests, but I assume BioHeaven is doing its job effectively.
pH Adjustment:
After draining the plant, I observed that the pH is at 6.8. I will gradually lower the pH of the water to around 6 over the week with three waterings, aiming to push the pH into the optimal range of around 6.5 for flowering. However, I’m avoiding any drastic measures since I’m still within an acceptable range.
Overall Status:
Overall, I’m satisfied with how things are progressing for this comeback run. The plants are responding well, and I’m optimistic about the final results.
This week, I noticed that the pH level of the soil remained steady at 6.8, which raised some concerns. However, my new EC meter has arrived, and I discovered that the EC value of my water fluctuates between 500 and 600 µS/cm. After preparing the water with nutrients, the EC level reaches approximately 2200 µS/cm, which is still within the acceptable range but quite high.
I’m hesitant to add more nutrients at this point, but since the plant has more space now and the older leaves are getting more light, the buds are developing more vigorously. Even the lower buds are looking denser and are covered with more resin. I’ve shifted from focusing on high potassium to increasing phosphorus, but I’m struggling to provide enough nutrients without pushing the EC into a range I’m uncomfortable with. As a result, I've ordered a reverse osmosis filter.
For this plant, the filter might not make much of a difference, as I’ve already begun the flushing process. Under the microscope, I’ve spotted the first brown trichomes, indicating that the plant will likely be ready for harvest in 1 to 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take many pictures this week because the ladies were moved to the basement. However, I plan to take more photos in the coming week as we enter the most exciting phase.
This week, I noticed the EC of the drain reached 4000, while I was feeding the plant with an EC of 2200. Given that the plant is nearing harvest, this was the last time I added nutrients. According to the trichome images I captured, the plant probably needs no more than a week before it’s ready to harvest. I’ve already given plain water once this week. The pH of the drain slightly decreased. I adjusted the pH of the water to 6.0, which brought the drain pH down to 6.4 after flushing with clear water. The plant is fully focused on bud and resin production now.
Everything is progressing smoothly this week. The plant continues to push out buds and resin, and I’m very satisfied with the results so far. A beautiful red color has developed across the plant, which looks stunning. About 10% of the trichomes have turned brown, so I’ve decided it's time to harvest.
Nothing special to report this week. The buds are drying nicely with no signs of mold. Temperature and humidity levels are in the optimal range for drying. Everything seems to be on track for a smooth cure. The flavor is really nice, something I’ve rarely encountered. It has a floral profile with a hint of raspberry, though not too sweet. If you’re looking for something unique, this strain is the right choice. I’m satisfied with the result, especially considering the less-than-perfect growing conditions I had. I hope my next runs will involve less stress and movement for the plants, which should help improve future yields. Of course, being a good and responsible grower, I promptly destroyed the excess that was over 50 grams after weighing it! 💩 It's always important to stay within the limits in my Country!
