Reviews. Nutrient
Was okay, going back to FoxFarms for sure though. I dont have the patients for growing in coco haha.
Had some problems all the way through with nutrient burn. Had to almost use 1/3 of what the recommended usage was. But they all seem to be super dense and super icy.

It appears that the lower leaves on all of my plants seem to be turning yellow and have brown splotches appearing on them. I was feeding them everytime I watered with flora bloom, flora micro, superthrive and calmag. I quit giving floragrow last week? could this be it?

Hi, if it is little black spots it should be Thrips (little pretty harmless insects that eat some leaf but dont do too much harm if they dont become too many) you want to try some yellow sticker traps or lady bugs if it is them. They hide on the wet soil

At various stages of growth the plant will need different things in different amounts . You have a deficiency here for sure that needs to be addressed . You can adjust the amount of PK your giving your plants and this will help you get back on track . With that being said the plant my be being locked out due to over feeding . When you feed your plant with nutrients its important to only feed them with the nutrient additive solution you mix every 2nd or 3rd watering this way you can ensure your plant uses up most of whats in the soil before adding new nutrients to it . This will also help prevent lock outs and calcium build up on your roots . Now with that being said I would advise that you only water with PH corrected water for a few watering to see if its a lock out or a deficiency . If your plant continues to worsen then its a deficiency if you see it start to improve then its was a lock out . When you resume feeding with nutrients I would advise that you start from 1/2 strength and work your way back up as needed . I've also noticed that your pots are only 1 gallon . Odds are you are root bound in those pots and so when you feed with nutrients it can burn the roots leading to what we see as nutrient burns . It's important to understand that the roots of a plant need space and that once they run out of space you will notice a few things like lack in growth the buds arent getting any fatter or nutrient burns . Its a little to late in the cycle to fix this issue now but at least you know for the next time .Other then that you are well on your way to getting some nice tasty medicine !! I hope this information helps you on your quest to becoming a grow master ! - Happy Growing!

Hi @NastyYeti! Yep this sounds like a serious deficiency, but in my opinion it's not a lack of nutrients, it's the opposite: a lockout. Indeed, I think you overfed that baby for quite a long time. In soil, you shouldn't feed everytime you water, nutrients just can't be flushed that easily and they tend to accumulate (salt buildups). Now that your rootzone is flooded with salts / old nutrients, roots are unable to manage N/P/K/Cal/Mag intakes... In this situation I would flush the medium for a few days with plain pH'd water (but no RO water, tap water will be good to restablish a good cal / mag balance), then see how it goes after a few days. If she still needs to fatten up / produce resin, then go back to a very light nutrient regime. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

@NastyYeti, Same for me with coco, i still kind of suck at growing in it lol. Some people say that coco needs more iron than other soils, dont know how much of that is true. I have also used GHE Nutrients, but prefer Advanced nutrients over them for couple of reasons, one of them being better phosphorus to potassium ratios during flower. If you get a chance, i recommend trying out Advanced nutrients. Peace out

@NorthernGrows, Thanks man, this is my first time using Coco coir and perlite instead of soil. I've always had troubles with it but I feel I may have worked the kinks out. My biggest problem was using way too strong of nutrients. I was really burning them up at first. Just had to cut the solutions back to almost 1/4 of recommended strength.

@Greenfingers1, Thanks man, having some issues with the GH line giving my girls what appears to me to be Nutrient Burn. I already cut the intake by 1/2 so I guess I need to cut it more. Very hot nutrients.

@Greenfingers1, Thanks, I'm gunna give them some plain PhD water for a few feedings and see how they do.

Looking good. Great choice to reduce the nutrients, they are meant for tomato’s. So you are on the good path of white ash. If I was to recommend one thing to add it would be mycorrhizae like great white or recharge. Easy with your watering though you are on the edge. If you notice some of your leafs are puffy/speed bump texture. What happens is is too much water too often is choking off oxygen to the roots. I know it’s coco and people say to water 12 times a day(joke), but you can water more often when the roots are there along with the pant to remove the water quicker. When you water too often to only choking off the oxygen like water boarding, but you start to kill the root hairs(fuzzy fuzzy) making it very hard to up take the salts(nutrients). Of course don’t want to water too late either or you can dry the roots out. Can be a factor to your purpleing stems as well. Sort of a gray area. Any ways sorry if you know this stuff, not sure your level. I wouldn’t switch nutrients, they are more or less all the same. Best of luck I’ll follow along. ThIs was 12/12 from seed?

Can you use the advanced nutrients main line for soil as well?
NorthernGrows
NorthernGrowscommented6 years ago
@NastyYeti, There is actually a collection of coco based nutrients. https://www.advancednutrients.com/products/coco-base-nutrients/ I use Connoisseur Grow + Bloom in my hydro system, so i suppose the coco version of them would be a solid choice. I've also tested Big bud as additional nutrition, and it seems to boost the grow quite well. Still haven't tried Overdrive but i hear thats good aswell.

More or less, they had a week to two weeks of veg on 20/4 from the start and about two days into week 2 I switched them all over to 12/12. I will be updating my diarie here in an hour or so, so check them out man. I really appreciate the comment!
