Introduction - Week 10 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 9896.37, Wow what a grow week! Flipped the light cycle to 18/6 with a harvest day set for early next week! The replacement humidifier arrived and was promptly installed. Also dialed in the auto-watering setup and now everything is working smooth and haven’t needed to water the #4 pheno the entire week. Very nice! In the veg tent, culled and cycled out the mother plants with the solo cup clones. Also lowered the grow light. With bud growth continuing to ripening up, plan to chop and flip the entire flower tent soon. Getting a bit concerned on how to exactly do this, but one impossible task at a time! Time to transplant #2! --- It’s been two days since her last watering. --- Gently flipped #2 upside-down which easily dropped straight out of her cup. --- Roots looked white, but the soil was a bit loose. Could have probably vegged her another week in the cup. --- Did not break the root ball up or anything. --- Gently placed her into the pre-inoculated hole. - [19:52]: Pressed and evened out the top soil. --- Also spread the original solo cup mulch out onto the top soil. - [19:57]: Placed the original straw mulch back on top of the soil. --- Also added the original #1’s Ecowitt soil meter back. --- Firmly pressed the meter as deep as it would go. --- Will update the soil sensor and change it to #4 later. - [20:55]: Repeated this process for the original #2 pheno. --- Swapped her out with an original #1 clone. - [21:41]: Next was the original #1 pheno. --- She was swapped out with an original #2 clone. - [21:44]: Placed all phenos into the 3x3 veg tent. --- Decided to also top the #4 pheno. - [21:45]: Using a pair of trimmers, --- Topped the main stalk a good 4 nodes. --- Mulched the trimmings. --- Going to give the freshly planted clones 4 cups of wetting solution for the initial transplant watering. --- Also going to be adding in some BTI. - [20:03]: Filled a pitcher with 12 cups of RO water. --- Added 1/16tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Added 1/4tsp of Horticultural Aloe --- Added 1/4tsp of Horticultural Coconut --- Added 1/4tsp of Mycrobe Complete --- Added 1/4tsp of WDG3000 Extra Strength BTI (Bacillus Thuringiensis, subspecies Israelensis) --- Mixed the solution and poured 4 cups straight into a pump sprayer. --- Misted the original #1’s straw mulch. - [10:53]: Repeated this process again for both the original #2 and #2 pheno. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [22:54]: Decided to also adjust the grow light height. --- Lowered the S33 IonBoard a decent amount closer to the canopy. - [23:07]: Took general PPFD readings. ------ All phenos were around 258 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 16.72 mol/m²/d under a 18/6 light cycle. --- The canopy is now about 16” away from the grow light. --- Should be more than enough light. --- Depending on how top growth responds, may even lower the light intensity level later (still set at 2 out of 10). - [23:12]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Tanks are still full and no leaks found. --- Wow what a day! --- Still more to do! Started by completely automating the humidifiers and added an auto watering system for the #4 pheno. The added automation will definitely make the next cycle a lot easier. --- Of course had some issues, but even with equipment failures (and a minor reservoir flooding), this is by far the shortest grow cycle, along with the busiest! --- Really am enjoying the perpetual growing style, but still am trying to dial in the whole process. --- Overall a lot got accomplished. But with feminized plant breeding as an eventual goal, there’s still a whole lot more to do! --- One impossible task at a time Ensign.
