Introduction - Week 01 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 9724.24, Ahh yea! Ensign’s back with another grow attempt! This is my second perpetual grow cycle! So if all goes well, there should be less veg week entries. Continuing off from the last log, growing some ‘Garlic Budder’ from the ‘Humboldt Seeds Company!’ These are all clone cuts from the previous seed grow. Unlike the last 6-plant flower cycle, this will be a 4-plant grow (with 5 vegging for the next cycle). Also not using EarthBoxes and will only be using fabric pots. Anyways! The beginning of the week was tending to the 3x3 tent while also preparing for the 12/12 flip. Both built and installed the PVC scrog frame into the 4x4 tent. Also weaved my first scrog net! Still have the girls vegging under an 18/6 light schedule (Garlic Budder by Humboldt Seeds Co), but rotated them out of the 3x3 and placed them into the 4x4 tent. Top dressed each pot before wedging and bending them under the scrog. Actually quite impressed on how well the whole process went. To help with recovery (from the scrog) and to acclimate the plants to the new environment, plan to veg for a week before flipping to 12/12. Wow! Just started but will be flipping to flower soon. Perpetual is definitely the way to grow! Anyways, Let’s get this grow log started! Onwards to next week Ensign! Engage! Okay! --- Time to start the big 4x4 tent reset! --- Going to first start with the EarthBoxes! Going to be retiring them for a bit so going to give them a descent cleaning. Let’s go! --- Fully disassembled and vacuumed out the dirt of each EarthBox before scrubbing each one in the bathtub. --- Then paper towel dried each component before stacking everything together. - [13:32]: Done! --- Took my time cleaning because storing these on top of the tent. --- Okay! - [13:33]: Time to both build and install my first scrog frame and netting. Let’s go! --- Got a set of 4 flag pole clamps (via Amazon) to attach the scrog frame to the tent. --- Got four 1” PVC fittings (local Home Depot) along with four 1” piping (10’ long each). Also got some self-tapping screws. For the netting, using mason string (ordered through Amazon). --- Since this is my first build, going to wing-it. --- What can possibly go wrong? --- Anyways, - [14:33]: First attached the clamps to the frame. --- For a proper fit, had to cut the rubber grommet in half. Using the extra piece as a cushion (placed on the sharp tips of each clamp). --- They feel like solid anchor points. Nice! to attach the scrog frame to. --- For general guidance, researched via YouTube for a bit prior to this so have a basic understanding on how to make one (shout out to The Northern Scrogger). --- Time to build the scrog frame! - [16:17]: Built the scrog frame using both the PVC fittings and piping. --- For frame dimensions, I cut two different lengths: ------ 42.5” x2 ------ 44” x2 --- This makes the frame slightly wider on one side. --- Made sure not use any glue and everything is dry fitted yet snug. Also smoothed the ends of each pipe with a bit of sand paper for a much easier fit. --- For the fittings, used corner fittings and have open slot facing upwards. This way I can always add a second net later. --- After the frame was built, marked and drilled screws about 3” apart. Made sure to mirror the screw spacing on the opposite side. Using self-tapping screws made this whole process a lot easier. --- Time to weave the netting! --- Using some mason string, --- Started at one corner and strung all the horizontal lines. Double-wrapped each screw as I went along. --- After the horizontal lines were done, continued on and wrapped the vertical lines. - [16:42]: Now that the frame is built and the netting fully weaved, --- Using velcro straps, --- Gently attached the frame to the flag-pole anchors. --- Started at one corner before attaching the opposite corner. - [17:18]: Done! --- Wow she’s a beauty! --- Was originally planning on hanging the frame just under the anchor clamps, but laying the frame on top of the anchors really helped with stability. --- With the frame fully installed, the netting is just under 40” above the floor. --- If each fabric pot is about 11” tall, that gives about 30” of plant height before hitting the scrog netting. --- Also the light is about 21” from the netting. --- Okay anyways, - [17:25]: Going back the tent’s floor, --- Decided to assemble 3 more plant coasters. --- These will eventually be placed into the 3x3 veg, but will keep them in the 4x4 for now. - [18:53]: Night check on the vegging 3x3 tent, --- Wow my girls are getting tall! --- No idea how I’m going to get these ladies under the scrog. --- May need to top again? I dunno. --- Growth has clearly gone wild and is bushing out upwards! Nice! - [19:13]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 34% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 31% - [CH05 FPT - Garlic Budder #1] --- 36% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2] --- 33% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- 35% - [CH08 G01 - Garlic Budder #2] --- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering. - [19:35]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #1’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [19:45]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. Day 03 - Wednesday - 09/18/24 - Total Days: 003 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 79.7°F [26.5°C] - Humidity: 64.7% - VPD: 1.22 kPa - Soil %: [00, 00, 34, 29, 37, 28, 29, 32] ----------------------------------- - [23:34]: Late night check on the vegging 3x3 tent, --- Ooo yea! Wow! --- Growth is just wild and growth has stretched to the light. --- Tomorrow plan to place them under the scrog so veg on my ladies! - [23:41]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 34% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 29% - [CH04 G01 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- 34% - [CH05 FPT - Garlic Budder #1] --- 26% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2] --- 26% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- 31% - [CH08 G01 - Garlic Budder #2] --- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering. - [23:52]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [+00:04]: Repeated this process again for the original #2 pheno. --- Focused mainly on the straw. Day 04 - Thursday - 09/19/24 - Total Days: 004 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 81.2°F [27.3°C] - Humidity: 66.5% - VPD: 1.22 kPa - Soil %: [32, 26, 30, 26, 25, 31, 28, 28] ----------------------------------- - [16:41]: Evening check on the vegging 3x3 tent, --- Looking great my girls! --- They all look more than ready for the scrog! --- Plan to defoliate and top dress before. --- May also top them. - [16:44]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 34% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 27% - [CH04 G01 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- 31% - [CH05 FPT - Garlic Budder #1] --- 34% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2] --- 29% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- 29% - [CH08 G01 - Garlic Budder #2] --- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering. - [16:49]: Checked the 4x4 flower tent. --- Scrog looks great and the tent is all set! --- Lot’s to do today! Let’s go! --- Cleared the tent’s floor out and removed all off of the fabric pots and coasters. - [17:02]: Within the AC Infinity App, --- For the Main Tent [3x3] controller, --- Adjusted the 'Vegetative [18/6]' Schedule for the humidifier. ------ Temporarily set the MODE to OFF --- Prior to this I did sample each pheno and have ultimately decide to just cycle them out and try new genetics. --- Planning to flower out #1-4 while keeping the remaining 5 in veg for the next cycle. --- One at a time, plan to defoliate and top dress. Going to go pretty heavy on the defoliation and will lollipop each plant before placing each into the tent. Time to start! - [17:16]: Starting with the #1 pheno, --- Temporarily removed the loose straw mulch and placed it into a bucket for later. Also gently tilled the top inch of the top soil and loosened any big soil clumps. --- Removed and lollipopped the lower growth with both my fingers and a pair of trimmers. Also removed some of the larger fan leaves. --- Was going to top each plant, but decided to try to wedge and bend each plant under the scrog net. --- Using some BuildASoil Worm Castings along with some Kashi Blend, - [17:35]: Top dressed the #1 pheno, ------ Sprinkled 1/4cup of Kashi Blend ------ Sprinkled 1cup of BuildASoil Worm Castings ------ Sprinkled 1 solo cup (~2cups) of some fresh BuildASoil 3.0 Potting soil. --- Using my fingers, gently tilled the top dressing into the top soil. - [17:44]: Placed the loose straw much back onto the top soil. --- Gently placed #1 into the tent. --- Had to tilt the plant horizontally before gently tilting her upwards. Tried to go slowly and let the branches naturally bend under the scrog net. --- Once she was under the netting, went through and tried to adjust the branches. --- Going to have to go back and further train the branches more, but tried to fill in her corner of the netting the best I could. - [17:56]: One done! Three more to go! Maximum warp Ensign! Engage! --- Repeated this process for the remaining 3 phenos. - [18:01]: The original #2 pheno was next, --- Wow! This is surprisingly a lot easier than I thought it would be. --- The branches bend pretty easily and the scrogging process feels like low stress training. Sort of like bending and tying down, but without the tying down. --- Anyways, - [19:19]: The #3 pheno was next, --- This pheno has always been extremely squat. --- Had to lift this one up onto an upside down bucket. Surprisingly, this was the perfect height booster! --- Her top is just under the scrog netting. Nice! - [19:46]: Last but not least, the #4 pheno. --- She was by far the largest of the phenos. --- Also accidentally snapped and bent one of her main branches at the joint (damnit Ensign). --- Using some garden wire, gently mended straightened the branch back to where it was. Hopefully this will heal up. --- Did another training pass and tucked and adjusted as many branches as I could. - [20:22]: Done! --- Wow! This worked out a whole lot better than I expected! --- Did not even need to top any of the plants. --- Just put these plants into the 4x4 and already have a decently full net. --- Perpetual growing is the only way to grow! Absolutely incredible! --- Anyways, --- Time to adjust the environmental settings. - [20:34]: Within the AC Infinity App, --- For the Main Tent [4x4] controller, --- Changed the ‘Drying [0/24] Schedule’ to ‘Flower [12/12]’ for the grow light and set the settings accordingly: --- For the Grow Light (Mars Hydro FC-6500): ------ The Mode is set to ‘On Mode’ ------ The START/END times are set to 04 :00PM/10:00AM ------ The Sunrise and Sunset Duration value is set to 20Min ------ The MAX value is set to 1 --- For the Exhaust Fan (AC Infinity CloudLine T6): ------ The Mode to ‘Continuous Auto’ ------ The Temperature HIGH trigger’s value is set to 89°F ------ The Humidity HIGH trigger’s value is set to 79% ------ The Minimum/Maximum value is set to 2/8 ------ The Temperature Dynamic Transition value is set to 2°F ------ The Humidity Dynamic Transition value is set to 2% --- For the Humidifier (AC Infinity CloudForge T7): ------ The Mode is set to ‘Continuous Target’ ------ The VPD target value is set to 1.0kPa ------ The Minimum/Maximum value is set to 0/8 ------ The VPD Dynamic Transition value is set to 0.2kPa --- For the Heater (AC Infinity ThermoForge T3): ------ The Mode is set to ‘Continuous Target’ ------ The Temperature target value is set to 75°F ------ The Minimum/Maximum value is set to 0/8 ------ The Temperature Dynamic Transition buffer value is set to 2°F --- Environmental systems are all set and are functioning within established parameters. --- Of course will adjust these settings as needed. - [20:47]: Back in the 3x3 veg tent, --- Cleaned the floor a bit before placing 4 of the fabric pots along with the 3 plant coasters. --- Plan to transplant and up-pot these plants soon. - [21:11]: Within the AC Infinity App, --- For the Main Tent [3x3] controller, --- Adjusted the 'Vegetative [18/6]' Schedule for the humidifier. ------ Set the MODE back to ‘Continuous Target’ ------ The VPD target value is set to 1.0kPa ------ The Minimum/Maximum value is set to 0/8 ------ The VPD Dynamic Transition value is set to 0.2kPa --- Plan to save bucket of trimmings and straw mulch. Keeping it inside the 4x4 tent to dry. --- Also decided to scrap one of the fabric pots. Since 5 pots would not fit inside the 3x3 and the 4x4’s scrog net is already pretty full, decided to reduce the veg tent down to 4 pots. --- Unfortunately, this means one of the 5 plants will need to be culled and mulched. Since I’m also thinking abo --- Also reset the soil sensor data: ------ 00% - [CH01 FP5 - Garlic Budder #1] ------ 00% - [CH02 FP5 - Original Garlic Budder #2] ------ 00% - [CH03 GR7 - Garlic Budder #3] ------ 00% - [CH04 FP5 - Garlic Budder #4] ------ 00% - [CH05 GR7 - Original Garlic Budder #2] ------ 00% - [CH06 GR7 - Original Garlic Budder #1] ------ 00% - [CH07 GR7 - Garlic Budder #2] ------ 00% - [CH08 GR5 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- Placed all 8 soil sensors into their designated fabric pots. --- Soil sensor averages are going to be a bit out-of-whack this week, but this is just the first week. Next week should be a bit more accurate. - [23:13]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. --- Wow what a day! --- Already liking this scrog growing style and will definitely be re-using this frame for future grows. Day 05 - Friday - 09/20/24 - Total Days: 005 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 81.6°F [27.6°C] - Humidity: 75.3% - VPD: 0.91 kPa - Soil %: [35, 32, 34, 31, 23, 23, 22, 27] ----------------------------------- - [22:00]: Night check on the 4x4 tent. --- Ooo yea! --- Growth is bouncing back and can already see a bunch of top growth sites! --- Just placed them under the netting and they are already starting to stretch upwards towards the light. Incredible! --- Also the under canopy looks nice and clean. Great! - [22:11]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: ------ 35% - [CH01 FP5 - Garlic Budder #1] ------ 29% - [CH02 FP5 - Original Garlic Budder #2] ------ 32% - [CH03 GR7 - Garlic Budder #3] ------ 29% - [CH04 FP5 - Garlic Budder #4] ------ 23% - [CH05 GR7 - Original Garlic Budder #2] ------ 22% - [CH06 GR7 - Original Garlic Budder #1] ------ 20% - [CH07 GR7 - Garlic Budder #2] ------ 27% - [CH08 GR5 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- Aside from #3, going to water each pheno. Let’s go! - [22:23]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #1’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [23:04]: Repeated this process again for the #2 and #4 phenos. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [23:07]: Checked on the vegging 3x3 tent, --- Growth can be better, but still looking okay. --- Will continue to let these ones veg for a few weeks or so before clone swap out for the next grow cycle. --- Going to do a full round of solo cup waterings. This will probably be the last solo cup watering for a while. - [23:22]: Took the total weight of the original #2 pheno. --- She weighed 210.1g --- It’s been 9 days since her last watering. --- While on a scale, --- Gently misted her straw mulch with distilled water. --- Tried to keep the top growth dry. --- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again. - [23:52]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed 360.3g --- There was no runoff. --- Marked the watering date on the side of the cup. --- At the same time, was repeating this process for both original #1 phenos. --- Tried to keep the saturated weight around 360g --- Placed all 3 back into the tent. - [23:56]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. --- Wow these girls are growing fast! --- At this rate, may be flipping to flower next week! Day 06 - Saturday - 09/21/24 - Total Days: 006 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 81.5°F [27.5°C] - Humidity: 74.8% - VPD: 0.92 kPa - Soil %: [35, 37, 54, 40, 23, 30, 37, 27] ----------------------------------- - [20:06]: Night check on the 4x4 tent. --- Wow! Growth is just insane! --- Scrogging really is the way to train! --- The canopy is looking flat and even! --- As the growth continues to stretch upwards, plan to tuck and train the top nodes and will try to keep the canopy even. - [20:27]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: ------ 32% - [CH01 FP5 - Garlic Budder #1] ------ 34% - [CH02 FP5 - Original Garlic Budder #2] ------ 50% - [CH03 GR7 - Garlic Budder #3] ------ 29% - [CH04 FP5 - Garlic Budder #4] ------ 23% - [CH05 GR7 - Original Garlic Budder #2] ------ 28% - [CH06 GR7 - Original Garlic Budder #1] ------ 32% - [CH07 GR7 - Garlic Budder #2] ------ 27% - [CH08 GR5 - Original Garlic Budder #1] - [20:44]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #1’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [21:01]: Repeated this process again for the #4 pheno. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [20:54]: Did a round of tucking. --- Tucked as many tops as I could and tried to train the branches flat. - [20:58]: Checked on the vegging 3x3 tent, --- Looking okay but need to transplant soon. --- They’re definitely a bit on the stretchy side. --- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering. - [21:03]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. Day 07 - Sunday - 09/22/24 - Total Days: 007 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 81.8°F [27.7°C] - Humidity: 75.0% - VPD: 0.92 kPa - Soil %: [38, 34, 48, 38, 23, 34, 47, 27] ----------------------------------- - [19:23]: Night check on the 4x4 tent. --- Wow! Looking great my girls! --- Tops are all stretching upwards again! The canopy is the flattest it has ever been and training has been quite easy. --- Don’t frack this up Ensign. --- Anyways, - [19:26]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: ------ 36% - [CH01 FP5 - Garlic Budder #1] ------ 30% - [CH02 FP5 - Original Garlic Budder #2] ------ 46% - [CH03 GR7 - Garlic Budder #3] ------ 33% - [CH04 FP5 - Garlic Budder #4] ------ 23% - [CH05 GR7 - Original Garlic Budder #2] ------ 33% - [CH06 GR7 - Original Garlic Budder #1] ------ 45% - [CH07 GR7 - Garlic Budder #2] ------ 27% - [CH08 GR5 - Original Garlic Budder #1] - [19:40]: Took general PPFD readings. --- All phenos were around 246 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 15.94 mol/m²/d - [20:58]: Checked on the vegging 3x3 tent, --- Looking good! --- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering. --- Really need to transplant these girls soon. - [21:03]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. --- First week done! --- Plan to veg for another week or so before flipping to flower. Also really need to transplant and up-pot the girls in the 3x3 tent. --- Lot’s to do! Anyways, --- Onwards Ensign! [END OF WEEK 01]

@smoking_hills9, Thanks growmie! Second time growing these phenos and my first clone grow. Yea, I reference these logs as I grow so they have to be detailed. This is also why my logs are about 2 weeks delayed. Sort of a full-time hobby!
