It's been a good week. Lots of growth, it's a shame I will have to take her early. This week is the final week of feeding. Probably next Week I will flush for a day or two, maybe three with the amount of rot. The Ph has been trending up this week, requiring a good bit of Ph down to keep under 6.0. Going to fix nutes later once done feeding. Adding some dry koolbloom this week

Grow Questions

I'm curing a small sample in water. Anyone think I should wait a few weeks for the bud to dry cure first? Or right now start water curing?

The water curing should be done with the fresh nugs so no need to dry them before because drying is the last part of the process. 1st you need to put your buds into a jar and filled with water and changed that water every 24h ( 12h if you have the possibility ) and after 5 to 7 days you can put the buds out of the jar and wring it before you hang your buds where you want to dry them. A fan blowing on the drying nugs can help to avoid mold

Thanks for the note @OutForReal Of course I asked the question before I got the right terms in to a search. For anyone else that has thought of water cure, I found a couple of good articles that confirm the above answer to my question. https://www.growweedeasy.com/water-curing-how-to https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-water-curing-your-weed-n852 Next time I will try it without hanging to dry first. I haven't been waiting 24 hours to change the water, just till it stops changing in color or clarity. About every 8 hours the first day (probably try more often next time). First and second days the water would turn the color of water in the bucket she was grown from, day 3 the water only turned cloudy so far. Each time the water drained off smells less and less like weed. I'm going to continue changing the water twice a day till it smells the least. I plan on mixing this into my walking around blunts, so less weed smell the better.

@OutForReal, absolutely right. The terms and spellings will trip me up. Posted a couple of pictures for others interested in trying this method. I've water cured already dry cured bud from a dispensary before. It's also nice to have on hand if you have lung issues smoke/vape is much smoother. Of course less tasty too. In the vape it's like sucking hot air, that makes you feel good in a few seconds. And Thanks! I didn't think I would have so much after trimming. Still left a lot on that others trim but I find it burns better in my blunts with a few sugar leaves mixed in. I figure another oz or so would come off if I really set out to manicure like the shops do. I like it a little more natural :)

@@@@lilbp420, You got it bro 🙌 GrowWeedEasy is THE true free cannabis bible 😄. It's even better that you changed the water every 8 hours , and you well described the process : when the water is getting clearer each time. BTW it's super easy to find infos about cannabis on Google but like you said sometimes you need to know the right terms for a quick search but it's not easy to know the whole cannabis vocabulary. Ps : What an harvest bro ! That's a huge amount of SSH : Congrats

Not a question really, more a poll for the indoor growers. How often do you clean the lens on your LED grow lights? I was looking up last night and noticed a good bit of haze in a few spots on the light, makes since with the big filter right above the lights that debris would be moving past the lights. After cleaning my meter reads ~1k higher LUM. I've been cleaning the lights after each grow, but maybe I've been wasting a little too much energy.

lilbp420commented6 years ago
@JRABTHEARAB, These are full spectrum LED, seem to do a real good job. More of a bluish light than purple, but not white light only. I have a "Blurple" light on my other plants right now, and they are stretching too much I think.
JRABTHEARAB
JRABTHEARABcommented6 years ago
@@lilbp420, Are you using a real full spectrum LED or one of the Blurples? I'm assuming real full spec because I couldn't find a lumen meter that would read blurple under like 350$. I've been cleaning mine between grows and I have my exhaust right above my LEDs. Since it doesnt take long to do I'm going to continue, I'm sure it's not a bad idea and it's good to know you've noticed even a small increase in lumen output. That is a Beautiful plant by the way!

Really nice... job well done. Looking like you got a nice yeald also. But you DWC people always trip me out with something. Why would you water cure your weed? I don't understand. Your flowers are beautiful. And I'm sure they smelled great. Why wash them in water? Am I the only one smoking "dirty"weed? It sure doesn't taste like I need to wash it. I really don't understand "washing" or "water cureing". Again beautiful work.😁

@Teamdirtbag2, added a picture to one of my current grows of the inside of the bucket. I use either a 4w or 8w air pump. The 4w is more than enough air for a single bucket. Two 10" air stones in my small buckets (7 actual gallons) growdiaries.com/diaries/36381/week/171918

@Teamdirtbag2, just air stones, no water pumps, well a small one to drain and run a chiller the last couple of weeks

@@lilbp420, manifolding is on my list to try eventually too. I'm following this manifolding grow right now and there are some awesome example steps/pics to really show how it's done. growdiaries.com/diaries/24230-first-photoperiod-glueberry-og
lilbp420
lilbp420commented6 years ago
@Michigander, Thanks! I can't take too much credit, I just top, then tie a few limbs here and there for a few weeks to open up the middle. Not having a huge space to work in helps fill it in too (little under 6 sqFt). Then once she is kind of set just let her loose. I'm thinking on the next grow of this strain to do some manifolding, seems to bounce back in rdwc in hours/days instead of days/weeks in my soil grows.

You'll always have clear trichomes even when the plant is well finished. The plant is always making new trichomes so you have to it weigh up when to chop it down
lilbp420
lilbp420commented6 years ago
@@hydrohippy, I just like to wait till I have a couple of amber show up and don't have the time this round. But the sample I took a couple of weeks back worked really well so I'm probably going to make out just fine, just whining a bit :)

@Vega0284, I think I'm going to drop a gold leaf after this one. I was really happy with how it was growing last time, but need to shut down for a bit after this plant.

Cool, I have two "full spectrum" blurples but I'm not sure if it's real full spectrum. My hydroponics shop guy would say definitely not but I mean, my first grow went pretty well, my bud sites were all really tight and basically the plants showed signs of getting the proper lighting when I only had one of the 1200w blurples. So far I dont see any reason to pay 2000$ for white light LED over 300$ for blurple but I'm going to keep an open mind. I thought I read somewhere that LEDs weren't even supposed to allow for stretching because of the type of light, not totally sure.
lilbp420
lilbp420commented6 years ago
@JRABTHEARAB, Yup I'm sure the guy here would say the same about my lights. To be way to simple with a reply, all lights work to grow, some are more efficient. Plants have to stretch to grow, but supplying ample light will keep the stretch (searching for light) to a minimum. The plant will also use energy growing toward the light (getting tall), instead of just focusing on growing (getting wide). This is my first full grow under these lights. But I'm digging the being able to position the lights differently each day over the plant, where my big "2000W" just moves on the z-axis in my space.
