Germination
2y ago
Fronti89 Hi everyone 😉 After Sweet Seeds sponsored me with 3 strains, I bought an additional 4th strain because I wanted to do 4×4 in 7 liters. On the evening of October 28, 2024, the seeds were placed in Easy Plugs and watered with a light nutrient solution. The solution contained Hesi Root Complex & Hesi Superfit, plus a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution to make it a bit easier for the babies! Once all of them germinated except for one Gorilla Girl, they were immediately transferred to the Easy Block. Smart as I am, I planted a replacement seed right at the beginning (Sweet Seeds S.A.D Fast Version) which is now replacing the missing Gorilla Girl. Unfortunately, I forgot to increase the light intensity, which caused them to stretch a bit. But everything is still within limits. 😉 Now they will spend a few days in my seedling box before heading to the tent.

Fronti89 The ladies were brought to their new home and immediately repotted into 7-liter fabric pots. They were also inoculated with mycorrhiza. One day after planting, I can say the plants are doing splendidly and seem to feel quite comfortable. Update to follow... Unfortunately, I had to replace a Cream Caramel with a S.A.D that I had as a backup because it was growing weirdly or almost not at all.

Fronti89 Last week went perfectly except for the issue with one Cream Caramel. The plants are otherwise developing as planned! The replacement plant is also slowly catching up. Update to follow...

Fronti89 The ladies are developing as planned, and the replacement plant is also picking up speed. After the ladies got so extremely bushy down below, I defoliated them a bit. (Lollipoping)

Fronti89 Today, on 12/5/23, the timer was set to 12/12, so I'm starting the flowering phase from today. Furthermore, they were slightly defoliated "the oldest lower leaves" so that the new shoots can get a bit more light. The ladies are doing quite well.. Update will follow in a few days!

Fronti89 The stretch is in full swing and the ladies are doing well so far! 2 of the ladies have a bit of slower growth; they were propped up a bit more to avoid going under. Some adjustments were made to accommodate the height growth of the tallest plants. After checking the plants, I unfortunately had to notice that two ladies were full of bags from top to bottom. They were removed immediately! Everything else is looking good so far. 😉

Fronti89 Unfortunately, after having to remove 2 plants last week, I found a few bags on another plant.. They were picked off in the hope that no more will come. If a few more do show up, I will remove them unless there are too many.. Then the plant goes in the trash! At the beginning of the week, they were defoliated. Otherwise, they are really growing well, and the flower development is now clearly visible.

Fronti89 Bit by bit, the buds are developing. After I discovered a few sacs on one plant last week, the ladies were checked again. I found and removed another sac from one of the plants. Unfortunately, I had to adjust the nutrients a bit since my usual fertilizer (Hesi) is currently out of stock in the shop. Additionally, I installed a new light in the tent. Now, at the end of the week, they were defoliated for the last time!

Fronti89 The ladies are doing well. After regularly checking one plant and removing 3-4 bags, it seems like nothing else is coming up now. Even though not all of them are reaching their full potential, it's still a nice grow. The feeding will continue as usual. The height growth should be finished now, and the bulk phase is starting. I noticed a leaf mutation on the smallest plant (in the pictures).

Fronti89 The ladies are doing well so far, but I have the impression that they are growing a bit slower due to the low temperatures. During the day, I reach a maximum of 25.5 °C. However, it could also be that I'm growing Fast versions for the first time, and that's why the growth seems slower to me. A few days later, I unfortunately had to realize that it wasn't the temperature but that the pH meter wasn't properly calibrated, and thus the pH value in the watering water was also off. I think I've lost at least 1-2 weeks because of that. Once the mistake was noticed, I immediately flushed all the plants, and now I hope they will resume normal growth in the coming days.

Fronti89 After wondering for weeks why the flowering growth was so low and partly stagnating, and finding bags on two plants, I luckily discovered, even though it was probably too late, that the pH meter was defective. It couldn't be calibrated properly, so I bought a new one. After comparing the old one with the new one, it turned out that I had apparently been watering with an approximate pH of 5.2 instead of 6.5 the whole time. The strange thing was that the plants – aside from the stunted growth – showed no other signs that something was wrong. It's also amazing that the plants grew well despite the incorrect conditions. This could indicate that they either have robust genetics or that the other conditions like lighting, temperature, humidity, and nutrients were so optimal that they could partially compensate for the pH stress. The pictures show a direct comparison of the devices. The old one was the yellow device. After noticing the error, I completely flushed all the plants and adjusted the pH correctly. Unfortunately, this time the yield will likely be significantly lower. It just goes to show how quickly mistakes can creep in if you don't check everything 100%. Now it's a matter of hoping that the plants might still gain a little weight! An update will follow as usual in the coming days.
