Sit Back, Relax, and Watch the Magic Happen š±šØ
Hey fellow growers! Buckle up because this diary is going to be a little different than my usual style. Instead of daily updates, Iāll be adding photos and comments at the end of each week. That way, you get a clean weekly overview of everything Iāve done. Letās kick it off!
Seeds Have Arrived!
The long-awaited moment is here: my seeds have landed safely, and kudos to wietzadenshop.nl for the prompt delivery. I ordered 20 seeds for ā¬54.95 (a steal!) and got two bonus seeds as well. Less than ā¬3 per seedācanāt complain!
This time, Iāll be germinating 15 seeds, and the plan is to choose the 12 strongest ladies for the grow. Fingers crossed for a high germination rate!
Germination Setup šš”ļø
For germination, I prepared a mix of water, CalMag, and Startbooster with the following stats:
EC: 1.1 (oops, a tad high, but should be fine)
pH: 6.5
Water temp: 23Ā°C
The seeds look healthy, but Iāll admitāIāve never really inspected seeds this closely before. For the price, though, they better work their magic! The seeds are currently in a cool space thatās hovering around 19Ā°C. To compensate, Iāve got the lights running 18/6 at 240W from 60 cm above the canopy. Lightās cheaper than heating, right? š
Quick Update:
18-11, 10:15 AM: 4/15 seeds have already popped up! The 18-hour light cycle seems to be helping them along.
19-11, 10:16 AM: 7 seedlings are now visible, and the cotyledons are starting to open. Iāll wait until 12 are up before moving them to larger pots.
The Plan for This Round šæāØ
Lighting and Temps
Seedling Stage: 1x Meijiu LED (240W) at 18/6.
Veg Stage: All 4 LEDs running 240W each, still 18/6.
Flowering Stage: Same lights, 12/12 cycle.
Nutrients & Irrigation
Iāll be using Plagron Cocos A&B with CalMag and a Startbooster. Blumats will handle irrigation after the first 10 days, fed from a 270L reservoir kept at ~18Ā°C to avoid the overheating issues I faced last grow. Iām also reusing coco coir for the first time, which should be interesting!
CO2 Experiment
This time, Iām playing with CO2 a bit differently:
Start with 1200 PPM during veg and the first two weeks of flower.
Gradually lower CO2 levels until week three of flowering, then turn it off completely when the exhaust system kicks in.
Why? Iāve noticed better results using CO2 in the early stages compared to later in the grow when heat can become a bigger issue.
Early Adjustments and Observations š
The Blumats are already soaking in water to prep for calibration. For now, Iāve pre-watered the pots with a mix of EC 1.0 and pH 6.0ājust enough to keep them moist. The CO2 tank is capped at 10.1 kg but wonāt be turned on yet. Seedlings donāt benefit much from it, and no need to waste CO2 when theyāre still chilling in a propagator.
Lastly, the nutrient reservoir is now in a cooler spot at a steady 18Ā°C. Iām curious to see if pH and EC stay stable at this lower temperature, and Iāll make adjustments if needed.
Goals for Next Week:
Monitor the nutrient reservoir's performance.
Finalize transplanting the strongest seedlings into larger pots.
Set up the Blumats for consistent feeding.
Cross my fingers that all 12 ladies are thriving by the end of the week!
Thatās it for now. Time to sit back, light one up, and let the plants do their thing. š¬ļøšØ Cheers to a promising start! Let me know if youāve got any tips or want to share your experience with reusing coco coir or CO2. āļø
