First time doing Barney's Farm so lets hope they provide wonderful results! 🙏 First diary on the site as well so lets see what this is all about. I must say I'm fairly impressed with all the tools that allow you to effortless keep track of everything! Well done "GrowDiaries" admin. 👌 As a bit of background info I will be using Canna Coco and nutrients throughout this grow. The seedlings start under a 96W T5, then up to a 315W CMH, eventually up to 630W and finally 945W at the beginning of flowering through to the finish.
Firstly the 10 seedlings were started in a glass of tepid water for 24 hours. Once soaked for 24 hours, they were moved into damp paper towel for a further 24 hours and placed between two plates. After around 24 hours, 5 of 10 seeds were showing visible tap roots.
I then laid around half an inch of perlite into a prop and then drizzled 500-750ml of the feed into the perlite in the bottom of the prop (1ml A, 1ml B, 3ml Rhizo per L of feed). I then filled small 1.5" peat pots with Canna Coco and misted the coco with the feed until damp but not soaked. The seeds then went in around 1.5-2.5cm deep and are lightly covered with coco. Into the prop they went on top of the perlite.
Within a couple more days every single plant had popped, with a 100% germination rate. A good start to the diary, well done Barney's Farm. 👏 They continue to sit under a MaxiBright T5 6500K 2 foot 4 tube 96W light unit and will do so until a 3rd separate layer of leafs are showing. They will then go under a Philips 315W MasterColour 942 CMH for vegging.
If you've enjoyed what you see so far, be sure to like/follow/comment! Peace - B00ST. 😇
So we slide into the second week! The babies have been moved under a 315W CMH Phillips veg bulb and Sun Systems LEC 315 reflector. Temps have been low during lights off so the addition of an oil radiator which operates off a thermostat has been made. Also added a 12” floor fan to get some air moving. Potted up all babies to roughly 1L pots and moved on from the T5. Dialled back the strength of Rhizo going in the feed as haven't used it before and at the lower end of the recommended dose (30ml/10L) it still nutrient burnt the tips slightly. Lowered it to 20ml/10L and seems to of done the trick. 😅
Going to begin to top within the next seven days, aiming for around 4-8 heads per plant. Height is limited so trying to top them early should help control plant height. I estimate a further 3 weeks of veg should be sufficient now roots are established. Other then that not much to report. Until next time! 😎 B00ST.
Hi guys!
The third week has really seen a growth spur! The feed has been raised to 20ml of A/B, up from 10ml from week two along with a splash (10ml) of Rhizo. A secondary 315W CMH ( hosting a Phillips flower bulb) was turned on at day 21 giving a lot more light to the babies. As a result the radiators has been switched to only come on during the 4 hours of darkness as opposed to every hour for 15 minutes (as well as during darkness).
They were also potted up to 6.5L pots with exception of two on day 21 which went into 10L final pots as I didn't have enough smaller ones. Roots looked 10/10, very happy so far. 😇 Until nex time - B00ST. 😎
Hello everyone. 👋
Rolling into the fourth week saw all the plants get topped/fimmed, as an observation I'd definitely say this strain is leaning more toward being quite Indica heavy, the traits of it are obvious. Big beefy fan leafs, short stocky plants with small gaps between nodes. On this occasion I'm actually quite happy as I'm limited for height, however if I wasn't under such constraints I'd probably want them to be a bit leaning a bit more on the sativa side.
Repotted up to final pots of 10L. In terms of feed it been raised to 30ml of A/B (per 10L), up from 20ml from week three along with a splash (10ml) of Rhizo. I will now be running 30ml of A/B all the way through veg to the end of flower finishing with a 7 day flush of plain water. I imagine I'll taper the Rhizo out by the end of veg, the roots are already poking out the final pot size (of 10L) so I'm happy the roots system is strong.
They look like they've almost completely recovered from being topped/fimmed so will give them a few more days and top/fim once more. The goal is to fill the 2M x 1.2M floor space with the 10 plants whilst keeping height to a minimum. I predict by the end of week 5, possibly 6 that they will be ready to flip to flower. That's all for now, so until next time, happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 😎
Hi guys! 👋😁
Rolling into the fifth week of veg all the plants have carried on bushing out nicely keeping a fairly consistent shape and height throughout the bunch. On day 32 I added / turned on the 3rd CMH so now we have 945W pushing them along running two flower bulbs and one veg bulb. They're drinking approx 1L a day each continuing on 30ml/10L of Canna A & 30ml/10L of Canna B at 5.9 PH.
Compared to the sativas I'm used to I'm a little wary that these SL's won't stretch too much once they are flipped to flower. I probably have a good 30-35” left of adjustment to move the light up and will be adding a 4th light bumping from 945W to 1260W for flowering. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has also ran these about how much stretch they suffer from (30%, 40%, 50% increase over veg size)?
That's all for week 5, so until next time, happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 😎
Hello fellow stoners! 😎
Rolling into the final week of veg! Two 20W clip on oscillating fans were added, one at either end of the tent, they're a bit rattly but they move a fair bit of air. The radiator thermostat was tweaked down slightly as tent was cruising at 22-23*c lights off and I'd rather it was closer to 19-20*c. They're drinking approx 1.1-1.2L a day each continuing on 30ml/10L of Canna A & 30ml/10L of Canna B at 5.9 PH.
Lots of growth but not too much height (luckily), the lower branches seem to be levelling out fairly well with the tops so I haven't lolly popped the bottom 3rd like I would usually. Being the first time running this strain I've been quite happy with the outcome of purely just topping with no requirement for LST or other training methods at this point. As of day 39 they are standing 17" from the top of the top to the top of the plant. Also took some cuttings in preperation to preserve the strain.
That's all for the final week 6 of veg! Next week brings 12/12! Happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 😇
Hello fellow stonerz! 👽👋
This weeks been an exciting week, lots of growth, smell and greedy girls demanding more and more from me! I crammed a 4th 315W CMH in on the last day of the first week flowering (day 49) so we're now totalling 1260W of light in a sloped roof cube style tent. An additional light couldn't be physically added unless you started staggering them in pairs but then you wouldn't get enough height as the roof of the tent is sloped on both sides to suit lofts. Overall very happy with the amount of light crammed in! 😇
We've seen the beginning of the stretch, each plant has easily 6-8 main nodes and are drinking 1.5-2L a day of my standard routine 30ml/A & 30ml/B per 10L. My EC is to high to need to buff with CalMag and Ph continues to sit around 5.9. As I approach week 3 the PK13/14 will begin.
Overall very happy so far, looking to be a promising yield I just hope that the quality and smoke/high is worth the time! Fingers crossed for my first BarneysFarm crop. Until next week - Happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 😎👌
Hello fellow pot-heads! 👽
This weeks seen a crazy amount of growth, perhaps helped along by the addition of a fourth light last week! ;) When the plants are rubbed they give a nice subtle aroma but nothing super stinky has happened just yet. Hopefully they stop stretching soon as I'd like to have a bit of “back up” height to raise the lights toward the end to avoid any burn.
They're now drinking around 1.75-2L per day with the same trusty ratio of 30ml/A & 30ml/B per 10L. Ph still being sat around 5.9 so as far as feed goes it's nothing new, “if it isn't broke, don't fix it” so they say! In the next few days/weeks PK13/14 will be getting added in but besides that its A/B to the end. 👌
They continue to grow well and the cuttings I took just before flipping to 12/12 have rooted, very, very successfully – (gives self a pat on the back). I think we've got this locked down now, just have to let time do its thing... ;)
Until next week - Happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 😎
Hello chaps! 👋
Plant report: they're doing well. Feeding around 2-3L a day each with 30ml/A, 30ml/B, 15ml/PK. Stretching seems to of ceased at last (thank f—k). All four lights are yanked to maximum height using cable ties instead of the rope ratchets to gain those last few inches. All of my cuttings have rooted and are coming along well also.
Overall happy plants and happy times. Haven't lolly popped or removed any under growth (unless dying / already falling off) which makes a change as I usually strip the bottom 30-40% off to save crappy pop corn nug's sapping the plants resources. We'll see if it works out OK in the coming weeks.
Until next week - Happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 👍
Hello guys, 👏
Due to the time of year (4/20) I've been a bit off my game with updates so there isn't a massive write up for this week but instead just a lovely gallery of pictures! They tell a thousand words anyway right haha!? 😆
Happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 👽
Hello guys, 👏
Same story as last week, no changes to anything except taking slightly more water, average 2.5L a day (still drinking a mixture of A/B/PK).
Cuttings all looking super healthy as well, kind of wish I had a secondary space setup for them to start vegging in but it is what it is. 🙏
Happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 👽
Wazzup people! 👋
This week saw the addition of some B'Cuzz Coco Bloom! Having used Canna Boost before which for anyone who doesn't know is very expensive I thought I'd give a cheaper alternative a go and was recommended this by a friend. That means they're now on the usual A+B, PK and the addition of the bloom. It's a bit late, but better late then never. Also from my experience very good quality nugget can be grown just off A+B alone.
The plants now give off a fair stench and are pretty damn crystally. I seriously need to sort out a better camera as this one doesn't do any justice whatsoever! The side / secondary branches are browning off nicely but they very top nugs nearest the light are still blasting white pistils out!
I think that 10 weeks is probably going to be the magic number for harvest, as I expected from what appears to be Sativa heavy (despite my early reservations about it being Indica heavy). The plants drink around 1.5-2.5L each per day in the swing of 12/12 and don't seem to give much bother.
All in all it's looking very promising, more to come very soon, cheers for dropping in.
Peace all, B00ST. 👽
Fellow stoners! 👋
Apologies for the super delayed update for this diary, one thing led to another and I kept pushing updating aside, so finally here we have it! Nothing changed for week 13, same lighting, same feed, same everything from the previous week!
Plants absolutely stink are super sticky. No complaints!
Peace. B00ST. 👽
Hello guys, 👋
At this stage some of the plants were showing varying levels of readiness but at this late stage in the game I prefer to cut all at once and crack on trimming and preparing the tent for the next batch. So on that basis for this final week the feed was dropped to zero for everything and flushing purely on Ph adjusted tap water began. A few fox tails began but nothing that couldn't be dealt with.
Really impressed with this strain in terms of growth and consistency but it is worth noting they are stretchy and do require more space then I imagined once the flowering growth spur begins! Next week sees the crop begin!
Happy smoking everyone! B00ST. 👽
Like most decent sativas Strawberry Lemonade gives an uplifting energetic high which doesn't lock you to a couch. A great day time or out and about strain to smoke if not wanting to feel tired and lethargic. 😎
First and foremost if you are after a 50/50 hybrid of something that knocks you out like cheese then this isn't for you. Strawberry Lemonade is definately sativa heavy. The plants stretched like sativas during flowering and the high provided is certainly an uplifting and productive high as opposed to a monged out high. 😁
In terms of growing difficulty they have provided little complaints or problems even when fed with a very basic feeding schedule. This just goes to show how hardy and easy to grow this particular strain is. I saw some signs of heat damage during the crazy heat wave we had but besides that they've been great.
In terms of yield I was hoping for at least 1g per watt as I've never done this strain before, nor had to work in such cramped conditions. Yield wise saw a final weigh in of just over 1400g which equals 1.08g per watt. 😎3
I currently have the second gen cuttings just starting week 1 this time with more LST and an added SCROG net so I'll be hoping to bump that up to 1.15g - 1.2g per watt.
Overall Barneys Strawberry Lemonade gets the following ratings from me:
Overall ease of growth: 7/10.
Overall quality of buds: 8/10.
Overall high from buds: 7/10.
Would I grow it again? Yes - I already am!
Would I reccomend it to a beginner? Yes - just watch the height of them, don't flip them too late!
So that's it for this one guys, I might add the results from the second one at some point but would like to try Barneys "GORILLA ZKITTLEZ" next after having HUGE sucess with Sweet Seeds "GORILLA GIRL".
Until next time, stay high! B00ST. 👽✊
This strain is no doubt Sativa heavy, cross of Strawberry cough is known to keep people awake. I’m creating a monster of a female. Your garden looks epic!
@Excalibur, Not tried growing any of Barney's things before, this is my first grow with them as a breeder - but I've always found most of their smoke on offer in Amsterdam fairly enjoyable so thought I'd give it a shot! Everythings dialed in pretty well at the moment so we'll have to wait and see what the final product is like! 😇 Enjoy the ride!
How many different phenos have you noticed? I have one which is really dense, and another that is thinner but twice the trichome coverage and intense lemon citrus smell! Looking good 🍓🍋👌👌
@Trichoterpz, I haven't pulled them out and inspected individually but I'd say they're all pretty damn similar. Due to them being cramped right in if I try remove one for inspection branches will snap from being over weight with nugs at this point. They support each other you see. Normally with more space I'd bamboo cane them all but in these circumstances it isn't possible now. 😅
Your canopy will be directly up in your lights by the end of week 10 lol the tent is packed ;) They look extremely healthy - can't wait to try this strain.
@GreenHouseLab, heh, time shall tell but I usually "pack out" the tent because I worry I haven't vegged them for long enough! 😋 Thanks they are certainly looking good! I'm also keen to see the finished product and will do a nice write up toward the end for everyone. 👍
@Cultus, cheers mate, a little bit of topping and basic feed combined with decent lighting seems to do wonders these days! "Keep it simple" is my motto and it seems to work for me. 😅
