Soaked the ASD in water for 18 hours then planted rhem in peat pucks. ASD seeds took 4 days to sprout and transplanted after the sprout into 6" pots with miracle grow seed started soil. Started with Costco grow light 30" above and got alot of stretch. Replanted deeper in the pot and lowered the light to 16" and added a small fan.

Changed the light to a cheap Chinese 600w LED. I feel the whole LED watt rating thing is a misleading marketing issue. Plants are drying out faster and watering a total of 2/ lt. everyother day now. At day 13, did the first first feed with only quater strength. Plants look fine

The leaves were starting to curl, moved the light a bit higher, seems to be better. At Day 17 FIMing the Critical Mass, ended up inadvertently Toping it. At Day 18 topped all four of the ASD. Started LST using pipe cleaners seems ok. Started nutrients every other watering. So far so good.

Day 23 repotted into 2.0 gln pots did some more trimming. Plants are responding to the trimming well and looking good. Increased the nutes to 2 ml per liter and feeding every other watering. Tried super cropping, not sure if I did it right.

Since moving to the big pots not watering as much. Trimming a few leaves (that are blocking light) every few days. Increased the nute strength. plants seem to look good. Keeping the training up, lots of shoots growing up. Not in a hurry, trying to decide how long to veg for, might go long. Building a flower room, ordered LED 3000k 10 cobs from Timber Grow. That should take care of the lighting for flowering.

Week went well. I trimmed all the lower sprouts as I do not think they will do well and want to concentrate growing the main branches. fed again and did not increase nutes, I think I will increase after two feeds. Not sure why, it feels right. I thought good growth this week. Not streching them out as I am running out of room, need to move them to the flower room (to veg longer) after the lights are set up. bought 8 x 100 watt Timber grow LEDs, three more to come. Assembled the frame and painting walls, wont be long now. Watching the growth and still deciding how long to veg, I have to admit I want to grow big plants.

Finished the flower room, installed 11 Vero 3000k Cobs. Hopefully pushing a true 1100 watts. I will tell you one thing, the lights are bright. Moved the plants in there as they were too big for the other area and could not stretch out. They will have to Veg under the Cobs for a bit as I need to make a dedicated veg area. Plants seemed to grow good this week and getting taller. I trimmed some more of the lower sprouts and leaves. On the Critical Mass I left it alone. Trying different methods so I can see what works and the results. In the new room there is a lot more room so I streached some of the plants out. Again I left the Critical Mass alone, let's see what happens. Not sure may veg for another two weeks, two feet in hieght will be the goal to acheive prior to flip. Trying to judge streach as I can only have max 6' plants.

I have a question, when finishing veg and getting ready to flip to 12/12, should I flush or is this just a hydro thing? any input would be appreciated.

You should never have to flush unless your are over feeding.. if you have planted in an Amended soil like Fox Farms offers and many other brands you more than likely won’t have to feed at all during flower unless you have over 600 W worth of light. You can always follow Feed Water Water Feed Making sure to renew your microbes every 7 to 10 days,Keep notes and adjust as needed I will tell you I see very very very few people not give their plants enough nutrients I see many new growers giving them too much. Too much will kill them, too little you can feed them a little and They will be fine in a couple days. Hope this helps FYI: that info is very opposite anything elese your likely to hear, but I assure you it is accurate

Had some trouble, the leaves started yellowing showing mag deficiencies. Reluctantly started to ph, really did not think I had too. Added Cal Max Nutrients to the mix. Plants seems to bounce back and keep growing. Too many large fan leaves down low, did a bit of defoliation. Maybe flip to flower in another week or two.

Plants did not seem to be affected by magnesium deficiency at all. Continuing to grow and looking good. Did a bit of defoliation, trimmed all the fan leaves except four at the tops, still look thick. Bot sure how much of the lower stuff to cut off. Don't want to lose bud sites however not sure what won't amout to much and to cut off. I will let it go two or three weeks and decide. Looking for input from experienced growers. I think next week I will set up my redneck scrog and spread the tops out so light will get in. Overall everything seems to be going good. This is my last week of veg and will start 12/12. Hope the cobbs produce big buds. Thanks for looking.

When doing defoilation I teilled off all the fan leaves except four at each top. My question is how much of the other branches should I trim off too? Also, should you trim a bit at a time so there is not much shock or everything at once? Any advice is appreciated. Cheers.

How much you defoliate / how many nodes you go into flower with has a couple MAIN factors, 1) what is your final light? Wattage wise 2) how full is your canopy? You want 85ish % of your canopy full when starting flower, if it is less full you will get more light penetration and can have some more on the bottom.. Check out my newest grow, look how aggressive I stripes those plants before flower, I’m about day 35 now and have a 12-14” canopy of all top buds.. Don’t be afraid to cut lower branches..the buds are never as big, they take energy from the top of the plant, and they are a PAIN IN THE BUTT TO TRIM! Also.. if you take say 30-40% of your foliage off, then your plants can use the same light for another 2ish weeks untill you need more light again... less light, less heat, less problems...

First week of flower, lowered the lights and changed the nutrients. Plants are really doing good, solid genetics. They are thirsty, have to water every two days now. Did a bit of trimming, I think I need to spread the canopy more than anything. Have to figure out how I'm going to do that and still walk around in the room. Did some accidental supercroping, I need to be more careful. Nice streach on plants this week, another five inches. Hoping to max out on height, haha. I can see a few hairs starting, happy days. I Thanks for looking, cheers! I am really enjoying the growing experience.

Week went well. Plants are too close together, little worried about that, however, they seem to be doing ok. Too many plants for the lights I have. Once the others are harvested I will get more room and ooen them up. Hope that is not too late. Plants continued to streach and starting to build buds. Two are tall and the other two a bit shorter. To me they all look too bushy and need trimming. Started timming and will finish tonight. Hopefully that helps. I have to say I am not totally convinced you need to take off all the leaves for light to get at all the bud sites. I say this from years of vegetable growing, always got ripe tomatoes that were buried under all the leaves. Might be different. Humidity was getting high, 61%, thought this was odd as it has been fine unitl now. Did not realise I need an exhaust fan to exchange air. I am looking for one now, I the mean time I will leave the door open. Lowered the temperature both during the day and night. That helped humidity, it dropped to 51%, a short term solution. Kept the nutrients thw same this week and will increase next. Continuing to ph'd the nutes and water from here on in. As always thank you for looking and happy growing. Cheers!

Week went well, worked on defoliation and repositioned the plants in the room. Put these on the outside cornes as they will harvest a month later. I will just rotate them for the interim. Did not get much growth this weeks, guess they are not going to hit the roof. Haha. Buds sites are getting hairy and looking good. Increased the nutrients a bit more and still using the Cal-Max. Did not get a fan or filter yet. Just leaving to door open every once in awhile. Plants are looking perky. I will judge how my other harvest goes and maybe I will adjust when I stop unsing nutrients. Thanks for looking , Cheers

Opened the door today and what a pleasant aroma I was treated too. I'm not getting a charcoal filter, haha. The streach really slowed down, looks like it is over. Lots of bud sites and they are starting to build nicely. Can't wait to harvest the others and get the ASD totally under the lights and spread them out a bit. Getting bold and decided to increased the nutrients, big mistake that was. Got leaf burn on the tips, looks like just water for awhile. Thinking four weeks of flower completed and another six to go. I feel I am in for a treat. Thanks for looking, Cheers

Buds are looking good and building good. I am amazedthinking Ihave another five weeks of flower. Looking forward to this. Backed off the nutrients a bit. I think I will taper off even more and let the plant use up what is left. Did a bit of defoilation, plants look better. The buds are stinky, as much care I took, my arms still endedup smelling like buds. I kept smelling the buds on my arms for hours. Gotta love it. Freed up some room in the flower room and rearranged the plants. Adjusted the height so the canopy is even. Now all the ASD are now under the lights. Happy days. Thanks for looking.

Bo more growth, Buds are building nicely and some of the hairs are turning amber. I built a frame around the plants and stretched them apart to get light in. Looks a lot better and should have not crowded the plants in before. I'm sure this hurt yeild, hope it does not hurt bud size and get airy buds. With four weeks left I hope it turns out well. Buds seem to be building nicely and getting frosty. Question, what is a good extra nutrient to put on bud mass? Thanks for looking. Cheers

Seven weeks of flower done and another three or four left. The plants are drinking lots and the buds are starting to fatten up. I see amber hairs and new white hairs continuing to grow out of the sides and top. Bud building is not over, more happy days. Did a bit of leaf trimming, just to get a bit more light in. Added molasses to the mix and everything seems to be going well. Thanks for looking. Cheers

Still feeding and this may be the week, going to watch the tric's and when they start turning I will stop. I figure another two or three weeks to go. The plants have that diesel smell now. Straight PH'd water from now on. Lookijg at the tric's a lot of clear ones still. I'm thinking it will still be another two weeks until harvest. Thanks for looking.

And now there was two. At the begining of the week I chopped down and hung the first two plants. Cut the plants in two pieces at the stem and hung the halfs. This was after two days in darkness. Continued to flush the last two with straight tap water all week. Plucked some fan leaves getting ready for drying. Today is the official last day of flower as I put the last two in darkness. The drying room is 66 degrees and 55% humidity. Sounds perfect to me for a longer slow drying process. This will be my last update until the harvest report. I did a clean and bleach in the flower room and will now move in the Black Dog plants and flip to flower. Perpetual growing is happy days! Thanks for looking. Cheers.

The grow was good. Have to say start with great seeds, pay attention to all the small details and follow the nutrients directions. I used my own soil mix from piecing together information on the internet. Kind of a bold move and worked out. Did not need to use full strength nutrients as I think the soil mix helped. I think the soil is forgiving and made it easy for me too. PH the water and nutrients, found this out the hard way. Again pay attention to the small deatils. Use the best lights you can afford. I researched lights for a month before deciding on 1100 watts of 3000k Timber Grow Cobbs for flower. The lights make up the difference due to my inexperience and produce great sticky, frosty buds. Great lights and can't say enought about them. Harvested two plants early and waiting for the last two to dry to trim. Wet trimmed the first plant and dry trimmed the second. IMHO dry triming seems to be better. This is both results and ease of trimming. I was overwhelmed by the weigh in, the first plant was the shortest and yeilded 145 grams of dry primo buds, no popcorn. Second was the tallest and yielded 175 grams of dry primo buds. Had a bit of small buds and they were put with the trim. Have so many buds I quickly became picky, haha. Still need to figure out what to do with all the trim. I have to figure it out. I will post a full smoke report after the final cure. The pre smoke is great. Will also update the harvest report once the last two plants are dried and trimmed. The last two had some big colas. Had a lot of fun growing and learned a lot along the way. I would recoment ASD to others and would grow it again. Thanks for looking. These last two plants took a long time to dry. Hung them for four weeks and got cauggt in a hot humid spell. Got mould amd lost a number of colas. these too a long time. Not really bummed out about it as the yeild was way more than I ever expected. One plant was 180.77g and the last was 187.9. This came to an overall rotal of 688.67

Congrats to your Harvest, its a big success. you can do cann oil/ cannbutter with your trim. If you dont have time to do it atm put the trim inot your oven on 120 degree and let it dry and dtore it. And later you can work with it. Its very fast in around 30 mins you can dry a lot of trim. after this you can put them into freezer or paperbags to store

@BarrieGrower, iam using grapeseed or sesame oil in bio quality... in my diary "cookies for me" are reciepes for making Oil For yummy edibles i like to use cocnutoil and i never toss away the cooked out plantmeterial... i blend it and make some brownies or a cake or anything like that--- it still contains alot of heavy lifting stuff i dont throw away anything on the plant.. ( maybe the rally big fanleaves, but all other leaves are frozen and get blend in a nice friutsmoothie, of i do green gin... ( without activating them....) so i have all beneficals in a high numbr without a high.. its pure medicne

Hi there bro! You're doing nice! If you want to concentrate on those upper buds, cut down all the lower half I'd say, cause it won't ever get to the light. In flowering with those giants be sure your soil never dries, neither soaked, but when you water just do it till 20-30% of input comes out of the bottom, you'll be sure the whole pot is wet. That already should keep away any nutrient imbalance which means better plant health (bigger nuts). Nutrient wise and overall knowledge about plants (cannabis especially) I'd advise you Harley Smith, you should REALLY look into it on YouTube, he has free hour long videos. Good luck bro!

@@SeedLover, probably eight and I use fabric pots too, so that will help.

@BarrieGrower, they probably won't ever be overwatered cause they big enough to suck all of it up fast. :) Good luck bro!

@@SeedLover, very interesting, thank you. I will look for his videos. to be honest, I was a bit worried about over watering and am letting it dry, just watching for any wilting.

Apart from the cal/mag issue things look really good. I would do a little bit of defoliation to help aid in air flow and will help get a bit more light deeper into the plant canopy 👍 Another 10 days and I would flip that switch to bloom(12/12)👌 This is going to be one crazy flower show and one we will not be missing 👊 With love from Humboldt County✌️ Kind regards Mark..

@DinafemSeeds, thanks Mark, good to know. Wow, 2x, solid genetics, I was hoping for a big streach. I have to say I am really enjoying the whole growing experience.

@BarrieGrower, I think the defoliation been done has helped but you could take a little more away to help get more light deeper into the plant canopy and help with airflow 👌 With HSO,s ADS the stretch will be roughly 2x. So if you flipped to bloom at say 50cm the end plant would be around 150cm in height 👍 I hope that helps mate? I'll drop back in on the next update ✌️ All the best Mark..

@Humboldt_Seed_Organisation, Hi Mark, They bounched back fine and contine growing good. Thanks for the advice, I wanted to do more defoliation however not to sure just how far to go. Specifically talking about the shoots coming off, how much of those should come off? Don't want to lower the yield however don't want the plant to waste energy. Another thing, I was trying to find information on how much the ASD streches, what should I expect? Appreciate any advise you or the other growers have. Thanks!!

It’s already a wonderful sight! I guess I am jaded, or uninformed about today’s ‘first grow’s. A first grow is typically a noble effort with a disappointing result. You have what appears to be a pro light ... 1100w worth, and you’re skilled at advanced techniques. You have large bushy garden. My crap detector is going off. You had your fun. How many years have you been growing?

@BarrieGrower, I stand corrected. Very much has changed in both growing knowledge and how easily it is dispersed. LEDs were still very much suspect only five years ago. Most of the ridiculous growing myths have been debunked, and we’re no longer practicing a dark art. And you’re obviously a bright fellow who enjoys his work. Kudos for growing photos in soil - as nature intended!

@growdoctordc, Thank you for the compliment as this is truley my first grow attempt. Not much different than when I started triathlon and never ran before. I did two Ironman races and was competitive in my division. Anybody can do it, you just need commitment and consistency. Weed is now legal in Canada and seemed like a good idea. I always wanted to grow a tree. I will tell you now my smoke report will suck, haha. With all the information you can get off instagram, internet, my local hydroponics store and grow diaries you can figure alot out. It is like anything, do your research and put in the work. You get out of it what you put in and some luck helps too. So many nice growers out there willing to help. Anybody can get a "prolight", I bought three cobb kits from Timber Grow, 2 x 4 cobbs and a 3 cobb kit. Bought the aluminum angle at the local metal store and screwed to together. Got spacing info from Dan at Timber Grow as well as Instagram. Have to tell you Dan and Tinber Grow are great!! Done. Instagram is where i got all the information on techniques, two accounts in particular, homegrown_pro and growweedeasy. Great information, step by step instructions and they make it look easy. You see what people do, use and thier yeild. Almost like cheating, you can learn from others mistakes. I am still trying to figure out the very technical aspects, trimming is one of them. Thanks again, I feel proud that you think I'm an experienced gardener. It's all good. CHEERS!
