And now there was two. At the begining of the week I chopped down and hung the first two plants. Cut the plants in two pieces at the stem and hung the halfs. This was after two days in darkness. Continued to flush the last two with straight tap water all week. Plucked some fan leaves getting ready for drying. Today is the official last day of flower as I put the last two in darkness. The drying room is 66 degrees and 55% humidity. Sounds perfect to me for a longer slow drying process. This will be my last update until the harvest report. I did a clean and bleach in the flower room and will now move in the Black Dog plants and flip to flower. Perpetual growing is happy days! Thanks for looking. Cheers.

I have a question, when finishing veg and getting ready to flip to 12/12, should I flush or is this just a hydro thing? any input would be appreciated.

You should never have to flush unless your are over feeding.. if you have planted in an Amended soil like Fox Farms offers and many other brands you more than likely won’t have to feed at all during flower unless you have over 600 W worth of light. You can always follow Feed Water Water Feed Making sure to renew your microbes every 7 to 10 days,Keep notes and adjust as needed I will tell you I see very very very few people not give their plants enough nutrients I see many new growers giving them too much. Too much will kill them, too little you can feed them a little and They will be fine in a couple days. Hope this helps FYI: that info is very opposite anything elese your likely to hear, but I assure you it is accurate

When doing defoilation I teilled off all the fan leaves except four at each top. My question is how much of the other branches should I trim off too? Also, should you trim a bit at a time so there is not much shock or everything at once? Any advice is appreciated. Cheers.

How much you defoliate / how many nodes you go into flower with has a couple MAIN factors, 1) what is your final light? Wattage wise 2) how full is your canopy? You want 85ish % of your canopy full when starting flower, if it is less full you will get more light penetration and can have some more on the bottom.. Check out my newest grow, look how aggressive I stripes those plants before flower, I’m about day 35 now and have a 12-14” canopy of all top buds.. Don’t be afraid to cut lower branches..the buds are never as big, they take energy from the top of the plant, and they are a PAIN IN THE BUTT TO TRIM! Also.. if you take say 30-40% of your foliage off, then your plants can use the same light for another 2ish weeks untill you need more light again... less light, less heat, less problems...

Congrats to your Harvest, its a big success. you can do cann oil/ cannbutter with your trim. If you dont have time to do it atm put the trim inot your oven on 120 degree and let it dry and dtore it. And later you can work with it. Its very fast in around 30 mins you can dry a lot of trim. after this you can put them into freezer or paperbags to store

@BarrieGrower, iam using grapeseed or sesame oil in bio quality... in my diary "cookies for me" are reciepes for making Oil For yummy edibles i like to use cocnutoil and i never toss away the cooked out plantmeterial... i blend it and make some brownies or a cake or anything like that--- it still contains alot of heavy lifting stuff i dont throw away anything on the plant.. ( maybe the rally big fanleaves, but all other leaves are frozen and get blend in a nice friutsmoothie, of i do green gin... ( without activating them....) so i have all beneficals in a high numbr without a high.. its pure medicne

i wouldnt flush because flushing itself can be stressful to the plant and lead to all sorts of issues like compacted soil

Hi there bro! You're doing nice! If you want to concentrate on those upper buds, cut down all the lower half I'd say, cause it won't ever get to the light. In flowering with those giants be sure your soil never dries, neither soaked, but when you water just do it till 20-30% of input comes out of the bottom, you'll be sure the whole pot is wet. That already should keep away any nutrient imbalance which means better plant health (bigger nuts). Nutrient wise and overall knowledge about plants (cannabis especially) I'd advise you Harley Smith, you should REALLY look into it on YouTube, he has free hour long videos. Good luck bro!

@@SeedLover, probably eight and I use fabric pots too, so that will help.
SeedLover
SeedLovercommented6 years ago
@BarrieGrower, they probably won't ever be overwatered cause they big enough to suck all of it up fast. :) Good luck bro!
BarrieGrower
BarrieGrowercommented6 years ago
@@SeedLover, very interesting, thank you. I will look for his videos. to be honest, I was a bit worried about over watering and am letting it dry, just watching for any wilting.
Humboldt_Seed_Organisation
Apart from the cal/mag issue things look really good. I would do a little bit of defoliation to help aid in air flow and will help get a bit more light deeper into the plant canopy 👍 Another 10 days and I would flip that switch to bloom(12/12)👌 This is going to be one crazy flower show and one we will not be missing 👊 With love from Humboldt County✌️ Kind regards Mark..

@DinafemSeeds, thanks Mark, good to know. Wow, 2x, solid genetics, I was hoping for a big streach. I have to say I am really enjoying the whole growing experience.
DinafemSeeds
DinafemSeedscommented6 years ago
@BarrieGrower, I think the defoliation been done has helped but you could take a little more away to help get more light deeper into the plant canopy and help with airflow 👌 With HSO,s ADS the stretch will be roughly 2x. So if you flipped to bloom at say 50cm the end plant would be around 150cm in height 👍 I hope that helps mate? I'll drop back in on the next update ✌️ All the best Mark..

BarrieGrowercommented6 years ago
@Humboldt_Seed_Organisation, Hi Mark, They bounched back fine and contine growing good. Thanks for the advice, I wanted to do more defoliation however not to sure just how far to go. Specifically talking about the shoots coming off, how much of those should come off? Don't want to lower the yield however don't want the plant to waste energy. Another thing, I was trying to find information on how much the ASD streches, what should I expect? Appreciate any advise you or the other growers have. Thanks!!

It’s already a wonderful sight! I guess I am jaded, or uninformed about today’s ‘first grow’s. A first grow is typically a noble effort with a disappointing result. You have what appears to be a pro light ... 1100w worth, and you’re skilled at advanced techniques. You have large bushy garden. My crap detector is going off. You had your fun. How many years have you been growing?
growdoctordc
growdoctordccommented6 years ago
@BarrieGrower, I stand corrected. Very much has changed in both growing knowledge and how easily it is dispersed. LEDs were still very much suspect only five years ago. Most of the ridiculous growing myths have been debunked, and we’re no longer practicing a dark art. And you’re obviously a bright fellow who enjoys his work. Kudos for growing photos in soil - as nature intended!

BarrieGrowercommented6 years ago
@growdoctordc, Thank you for the compliment as this is truley my first grow attempt. Not much different than when I started triathlon and never ran before. I did two Ironman races and was competitive in my division. Anybody can do it, you just need commitment and consistency. Weed is now legal in Canada and seemed like a good idea. I always wanted to grow a tree. I will tell you now my smoke report will suck, haha. With all the information you can get off instagram, internet, my local hydroponics store and grow diaries you can figure alot out. It is like anything, do your research and put in the work. You get out of it what you put in and some luck helps too. So many nice growers out there willing to help. Anybody can get a "prolight", I bought three cobb kits from Timber Grow, 2 x 4 cobbs and a 3 cobb kit. Bought the aluminum angle at the local metal store and screwed to together. Got spacing info from Dan at Timber Grow as well as Instagram. Have to tell you Dan and Tinber Grow are great!! Done. Instagram is where i got all the information on techniques, two accounts in particular, homegrown_pro and growweedeasy. Great information, step by step instructions and they make it look easy. You see what people do, use and thier yeild. Almost like cheating, you can learn from others mistakes. I am still trying to figure out the very technical aspects, trimming is one of them. Thanks again, I feel proud that you think I'm an experienced gardener. It's all good. CHEERS!
