Introduction - Week 05 Summary -
Ensign's log, stardate 8030.3,
Busy week in the garden!
In preparation for the flower phase, top dressed all pots in the main tent. Also fertilizer fed for the first time this cycle. Then took clone cuttings of all phenos and by the end of the week have already begun the process of rooting in Coco Coins. Also replaced the drip ring and re-connected the auto-watering system.
In the veg tent, did a pretty heavy topping and defoliation. Aside from that, it’s been watering as needed.
Had a minor break out of fungus gnats in both tents. Been inoculating with BTI which seems to be working great!
Next week begins the big 12/12 flip and the big two-week stretch!
Onwards to next week!

-----------------------------------
- [+00:56]: Night check on the 4x4 tent.
--- Ooo yea! Looking green and growth is looking absolutely the healthiest it’s ever been!
--- Wow! Both Gorilla Goat phenos are growing beautifully! Both are bushy and squat with even side branching and tight inner-nodal spacing. Genetics are definitely the most important and I am utterly hyped for these!
--- In comparison, even though the Garlic Budder phenos are looking incredible and healthy, under the same environmental conditions, the growth morphology is vastly different. Branching is uneven (each node has only one branch instead of two), and both are quite lanky in nodal spacing.
--- And wow the Gorilla Goat’s fan leaves are huge and looking beautiful!
- [+01:02]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
------------------ [ 4x4 MAIN TENT ] ---------------
------ 40% - [CH01 FP5 - Gorilla Goat #1]

- Soil %: [42, 46, 46, 43, 50, 49, 43, 50]
-----------------------------------
- [17:44]: Evening check on the 4x4 tent.
--- Looking incredibly healthy my girls!
--- Still not quite sure why growth looking so vigorous, but not complaining!
--- Both Gorilla Goat phenos are looking bushy and have filled their pots nicely! The #1 pheno is now taller than #2, but this is probably due to the smaller container.
--- Both Garlic Budder phenos are looking great and are continuing to stretch upwards! The #2 pheno has already reached the scrog frame!
- [17:58]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
------------------ [ 4x4 MAIN TENT ] ---------------
------ 36% - [CH01 FP5 - Gorilla Goat #1]
------ 45% - [CH02 G20 - Gorilla Goat #2]

--- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto Gorilla Goat #1’s straw mulch.
- [18:15]: Turned the auto-refill valve to ON for the reservoir.
--- Going to let the tank fill up to test for leaks again.
- [18:16]: Checked the 3x3 veg tent.
--- Garlic Budder mothers are green and happy!
--- Looking beautiful! All around veg growth is looking perky!
--- Don’t need to top, but need to clear out some canopy space for clone cuttings.
- [18:19]: Time to top!
--- Using a pair of trimmers,
--- Removed a decent amount of canopy growth.
--- Also cleaned up the bottom growth and slightly re-arranged the pots (mainly rotated a few).
- [18:54]: Went pretty heavy on the topping and defoliation, but growth should spring back in a few days.
--- Main goal was to clear out the center area.
--- Mulched the trimmings.
- [19:00]: Back in the 4x4 main tent,
--- Since growth is looking great and there’s plenty of bottom branching in all phenos,
--- Going to take a cutting from all four phenos which will eventually rotate in as the new mothers in the veg tent.
--- Let’s go!
- [19:13]: Filled a measuring cup with 1.5 cups of RO water.
------ Added 1/8tsp of Horticultural Aloe
--- Mixed the solution and poured it straight into a solo cup.
- [19:17]: Time to take the cuttings!
--- Using a pair of trimmers (AC Infinity),
--- Gently cut a clone cutting from each plant in the 4x4 tent.
--- Also defoliated and cleaned up the lower growth.
--- Trimmed and cleaned each clone cutting by trimming most of the leaves off leaving the top nodes.
--- Did not cut any leaf fingers.
--- Made sure the tip of each stalk had a 45° cut before placing into the cup of aloe solution.
--- Also made sure to tag each cutting with the name and pheno number.
- [20:01]: Placed the fresh cuttings into the 3x3 veg tent.
--- Have the cup raised off the floor and is placed on a tray that that is on an upside-down pot.
--- Going to let these cuttings soak for a day before refreshing with straight RO water.
--- Let the two-day soak begin!
--- Wow have to say that I am hyped for these new genetics! While defoliation and topping both Gorilla Goat phenos, the terps on the stem rubs were loud with a gassy and almost armpit-raunchy funk that I’ve never smelled from any plant that I’ve ever grown! Also in comparison, the Garlic Budder stem rub terps are good and loud but seem bland and grassy whereas the Gorilla Goat phenos are just wreaking with a gassy and skunky funk.
--- Anyways,
--- Back in the 4x4 once more,
- [20:04]: Shut the auto-refill valve OFF for the reservoir.
--- Great! No leaks!
--- Swapped out Gorilla Goat #2’s drip ring.
--- Also moved the drip ring a bit closer to the soil sensor.
- [20:11]: Turned the reservoir’s outlet valve ON
--- Hope the new drip ring and higher water pressure will help to spread the water a bit more evenly.
--- Placing the drip ring closer to the sensors should also help to prevent another tank flooding.
- [20:15]: Took general PPFD readings.
------ Gorilla Goat #1 was around 240 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 15.55 mol/m²/d under an 18/6 light cycle.
------ Gorilla Goat #2 was around 245 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 15.88 mol/m²/d under an 18/6 light cycle.
- [20:18]: Took the weekly height and light distance measurements.
------ Gorilla Goat #1 was about 13.0" tall.
------ Gorilla Goat #2 was about 12.0" tall.
------ All phenos were about 41" away from the grow light.

--- Garlic Budder mothers are vegging along beautifully!
--- All phenos look green and perky!
--- Nice! All clone cuttings have perked up and all tops are facing straight up towards the light!
--- Hmm. Recently been noticing gnats in both tents, but more so in the veg tent.
--- Guess the higher soil moisture levels are perfect for soil gnats.
--- Could have possibly also gotten them from the coco soil which was included with the worms?
--- Going to spray the soil with a BTI (Bacillus Thuringiensis, subspecies Israelensis) inoculant.
- [22:23]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of RO water.
------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]

- [20:08]: Repeated this process again for both Garlic Budder phenos.
--- Focused mainly on the straw.
--- Also slightly sprayed the straw mulch of Gorilla Goat #2 with the BTI solution.
- [21:21]: Checked the 3x3 veg tent.
--- All Garlic Budder mother phenos are vegging along and looking perky!
--- There does seems to be some yellowing on the original #1 along with the #2 pheno, but most of the growth looks green and healthy.
--- All clones are looking great and green!
- [21:24]: Time to begin the rooting process!
--- Configured the controller on the AC Infinity Propagation dome.
--- Made sure the settings were correct for vegetative growth:
------ START/END times were set to 04:00PM/10:00AM

--- Temporarily placed each Coco Coin in half-cut solo cups.
- [21:57]: Using a squeeze bottle filled with Clonex,
--- Gently filled each pre-made hole with Clonex rooting gel.
- [22:03]: Time to plant the cuttings!
--- Using a pair of clean trimmers, made a final 45° cut.
--- Also stripped and scrapped some of the stem’s outer membrane a bit.
--- To help with planting, gave each Coco Coin a squeeze to loosen the coco.
--- Inserted and made sure each stem was snug with the tip about a 1/4 inch from the bottom of the Coco Coin.
--- Once each cutting was planted,
- [22:23]: Placed each pheno into the propagation dome.
--- Made sure to keep each tag with the correct cuttings.
- [22:25]: Misted the sides of the propagation dome with distilled water.
--- Sprayed the top of the propagation dome before covering the cuttings.
- [22:26]: Also added 1/2 cup of RO water to the bottom of the tray.
--- Vents are fully closed.
--- As far as PPFD,
--- At the current light intensity, the PPFD should be around 136 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 8.81 mol/m²/d
--- Will check back daily to cycle the air under the dome.
--- Checked the reservoir tank for leaks and everything is looking good.
- [22:32]: Checked the humidifiers.
