Another very successful week! Couldn’t be happier right now. Not entirely sure on the true height of these girls now, every couple days I’m manipulating them down to create an almost perfectly flat canopy. Still using the ‘water-feed-water-feed schedule’, they are really happy with it. Currently getting watered every 3 days or so. Still not a single deficiency in sight, wow! For my second(ish) grow I’m exceptionally pleased with that. Still no signs of lady parts which is disappointing, really hoping to see those pistils ASAP. The only issue I faced a few weeks back was accidentally snapping a top, she has however recovered greatly since then, I LST’d other tops over in the direction of the gap, and to be honest now you can’t even tell. Thanks again to Barney’s Farm for kindly providing these seeds, it’s truly a pleasure to see these beautiful resilient strains perform under my guidance. Thanks for stopping by, please comment below as I love to engage with people on here. I’m not a social media user, but damn do I love this site. Happy growing! 🌱

Grow Questions

I may be jumping the gun here, but when should I start topping photoperiods? And when should I transplant them? Should I wait for the root mass to fill the pot?

Typically you wanna wait till the plant has 5 nodes before you wanna start topping a photo period plant . I say this because you wanna wait for the tap root to be long enough . Once you top a plant it removes the steroid that pushes it to grow upwards and makes it grow side ways . With that being said it also make the tap root grow much much slower now and the little side roots are whats going to expand vigorously . You can top sooner but you run the risk of having a much smaller plant in comparison . If you look at my GG#4 grow you can see that example set out between the 2 that I have in that grow . One was topped at node 4 and one was topped at node 5 one ended far bigger then the other even tho the training methods were almost the same . Also allowing your plant to be a fair size 5th node or bigger will ensure that your root system is strong enough for a speedy recovery so you can determine if you want to top again or if you just wanna let it grow from there out . I hope this information helps you on your quest to becoming a master grower ! -Happy Growing!

Hi growers! I flipped the lights to 12/12 about a week ago, when can I expect to see pistilils forming? Another week or so? Also, when should I introduce bloom feed? As soon as the pistils come? I’m using AN ph perfect micro grow bloom, should I maintain an equal amount of all?

Hey there Willy! So you should start to see signs of pistols in about a week or so like you said👍 As for the feed what I like to do is lower the veg nutes a little and add what I took away from the veg nutes with the bloom nutes make sense? The reason i like to do this is to keep some of the veg nutes in for the stretch where the plant will need a little more nitrogen than most Bloom nutes have. Then at about start of week 3 or once all the pre-buds have come in which ever comes first, I Get rid of the veg nutes and go straight bloom nutes. It seems to work very well Oh yea with the micro you can keep that in the schedule if you want👍 Happy Growing

Hi fellow growers! Light question. Using a 600w LED with veg and flower switches. I’ve been using both spectrums since starting flower as I figured 600w full spectrum is better than 300w just flower? Is this okay? I’d prefer to use as much wattage as possible to maximise yields.

Hey WillyWonka, yeah you did well adding the extra spectrum to the light, plants like that slightly different spectrum more during flower. Thing about led lights is the spectrum they say it is and the actual W at the wall they take may be very different. To be 100 rigorous you can get a watt meter online for less than 10 dollars plus shipping. Just plug the plug into it and it gives you a reading. With LEDs there's two main problems (strength, and the blurple - is the sun purple?) and coverage. The best you can do with LEDs is make sure every square inch of your tent has a LED on it. Try getting a lux meter or a par meter to check around at various places in your tent , you'll be surprised at how the light intensity varies. Folks say you dont get acurate readings LEDs and lux meters, but you get a ball parc idea of the variations occuring in your tent. Hope this helps ! 🚀

A couple of people have stated that my buds are small considering the week I’m in flower. Why is this? Can I do anything to remedy this fact? Or are they just growing at the pace they’re growing?

Yoo dude ! considering the fact that is announced 8 weeks of flowering by barney's…. yeah your buds seems small. but often it takes also more than announced. to my point of view there is one thing that you could do now to try to boost your grow… add a watering solution 22/24 °C (Depending on your tent temperature) with symbiotics fungies (mycorhizae and trichoderma + if u can some bacterias) and you add a litle bit of bio molasses with them (3 ml /L for sugar) in order to accelerate the development of these micro-organisms….It is advisable to put a little pinch of this fungies on three 7cm holes deep, holes that you will then close before watering the solution normally this mix In addition to stimulating flowering, is possible to break the blocking of eventual nutrients… and it will restore the soil activity as it best… where you from ? the nutrient company in UK have a good pack, including bacterias. but if i have an advice it is alway use symbiotics fongies at start, when you transplant and after 2/3 weeks of blooming stage 👍 last question what is your led light ? (ref plse) Hope it will helps. Namasté 🙏

Okay harvest is just around the corner. Currently thurs evening - beginning of the day for plants - going into darkness Saturday for 48hrs, harvesting Monday. When should the plants be watered last? Or should I not bother at all now? Thanks for everything everybody!

Depending on how they were drinking you could give them 1 last water. I would make sure the soil is dry before going into the 48 hours of darkness. Keep the airflow up and you will be good. Good luck and happy growing! 💪

Ooo I was just looking at the triple cheese from Barney's Farm, I always love a good cheese! And to answer your question from my very own experience, I let mine grow it out in a small pot for about 2 weeks, I always like to transplant once a few of the roots start to come out of the drain holes at the bottom. All depends on strain really and how fast there roots develop, but 2 weeks is a max for me 👌 also in terms of nutrients, I am growing a few different strains from Barney's Farm and after about 2 weeks of just feeding PH'd water I added 1ml of grow and micro however I then started seeing signs of nute burn so I started at very small amounts 0.5ml/l - all I can say is be careful with nutes at the start, I only started giving them more once I saw the 3rd set of leaves appear, I slowly worked my way up and that's the best way to it, it is better to have them slightly deficient than over indulged - a lot easier to recover in my opinion 😊 I hope this helps!

@WillyWonka,hmmm not sure why they are that way, may be unlucky genetics or something, see how they get on in the next week or so 😊

@G4NJAG4NG, I don’t really want to transplant the autos, they’re already flowering early. Pots are 10L fabric pots. Hmmm

@WillyWonka, yours at week 3 look like mine did at week 2, if you check my diary you will see the difference the transplant made for me from week 2 to end of week 3 😊

lol i hear ya man i hear ya ! she's looking good a bit heavy on the N based on the way the leaves are a bit darker green. Check it out you're using micro and cal mag extra, and both of these have N in it, try something like cal mag sulfur and by choosing one or the other cutting out some N over time the soil will have got rid of it. Hope this helps man 🚀
Philindicus
Philindicuscommented6 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow, I've noticed the same thing with AN nutrients are heavy on the N. If you follow their feeding schedule you'll wind up with leafier buds. Their N-P-K ratio looks more suited for veg stage. I have also noticed their nute lack phosphorus at a key time in bud development. I would say that if you use the AN line you may need to break the rules and lower your Grow nute mls when adding Sensi Cal during bloom to compensate for the extra N. Looking at his plant I don't see a cal/mag issue. I think he is at a point in this grow where he still has a couple of weeks time to add some PK to bulk up those buds a bit more. Hopefully they will show more calyx growth than leaf growth. If he uses AN Overdrive as part of his nute regime I think he should drop out the big bud and put her into overdrive.

@WillyWonka, yes lol, look up the horrors of shipping liquid nutrients - must stop this now #militant #treehug
WillyWonka
WillyWonkacommented6 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow, all I’ve got CalMag wise is the Sensi CalMag, so I’ll look into that one. Do these companies just tell you to keep using N nutes at full ratio to just buy more of their stuff?

Photoperiods - blue cheese x3 - violator kush x3 - pink kush x2 Autoflowers - lemon ak x9 - white widow x2 - dinamex x3 - Critical + 2.0 x1 So what would you do? Thinking of attempting scrog or sog method. Obviously don’t want to mix photos and autos.

@GrowZex, I rarely smoke cheese due to it being everywhere in my part of the world, I prefer to branch out in strains. However this should mean it’ll knock my head off! These girls look to be starting off well, just excited for preflower now to be honest...

To answer your question. No set time, since it depends on what you are trying to do. Most do it around the 5th node. I would advice you to wait until the plants has 5 nodes, to give it time for the roots to develop and so it can recover quicker (even if you top back to the 1st or 2nd node). Try to get 4 tops per sq ft as a starting point. Hope that helps.

Looking good! But in bloom your humidity should be under 50% close to 40%
CRiSPrGrow
CRiSPrGrowcommented6 years ago
@WillyWonka, hey man to avoid defoliation in flower (which is a must!) try pointing a box fan at the ceiling of your tent point up almost directly on it, and put it on max, it will recirculate the air better, and hopefully help the current exhaust get rid of it better. hope this helps ! 🚀
ShotGunBob
ShotGunBobcommented6 years ago
@WillyWonka, super :) i will follow your grow
WillyWonka
WillyWonkacommented6 years ago
@@ShotGunBob, okay so I seem to have successfully lowered humidity by two techniques. 1) fairly heavy defoliation 2) took a part the interior fan providing air flow, thoroughly cleaning all parts greatly improved its function. Plants now gently blow in the breeze again. I’ll be home tomorrow after a couple days away, so it’ll be interesting to check the RH then 😀🌱

@CRiSPrGrow, thanks for noticing! I’ve just halved it, well to the only other height it can go at this point - about 20cm from the top bud. I’m a little worried it’s too close now and the outside of the plants won’t receive as much light? But I’ll take your word for it!
