100% germination rate on 3 x Barney’s Farm ‘Triple Cheese feminised photoperiods’. Really happy with the seed quality from the Netherlands so far. Seeds were soaked in water in a dark place around 26oC for 72 hours, all 3 tap roots came out and were transferred with tweezers into organic soil + perlite in a small plastic container. They originally contained soup. Soil was kept moist and out under the light, 24hrs later all 3 had pushed their way into natural life. Humidity set around 65%, but I need to monitor often as I’m using a new humidifier. Hoping this will help vegetative growth. Thanks for stopping by.

So far I’m liking growing photos more than autos. These little girls seem very healthy at three weeks old. They’re still on just CalMag and rhizotonic, but it might be a good idea to start adding nutrients soon. How big should I let these girls get before they get transplanted? I have only just taken the lights off full spectrum and switched to just veg. Completely forgot to do this when the photoperiod seeds popped. Hopefully this doesn’t impact the performance of the blackberry autos sharing the tent. See you soon 😁

I may be jumping the gun here, but when should I start topping photoperiods? And when should I transplant them? Should I wait for the root mass to fill the pot?

Typically you wanna wait till the plant has 5 nodes before you wanna start topping a photo period plant . I say this because you wanna wait for the tap root to be long enough . Once you top a plant it removes the steroid that pushes it to grow upwards and makes it grow side ways . With that being said it also make the tap root grow much much slower now and the little side roots are whats going to expand vigorously . You can top sooner but you run the risk of having a much smaller plant in comparison . If you look at my GG#4 grow you can see that example set out between the 2 that I have in that grow . One was topped at node 4 and one was topped at node 5 one ended far bigger then the other even tho the training methods were almost the same . Also allowing your plant to be a fair size 5th node or bigger will ensure that your root system is strong enough for a speedy recovery so you can determine if you want to top again or if you just wanna let it grow from there out . I hope this information helps you on your quest to becoming a master grower ! -Happy Growing!

I’ve had a play around with these three... one has been topped early, one has been left to grow as it,(likely to be topped in a couple weeks) and one has been bent and manipulated a bit. I think it almost died as shock (too small) but it pulled through and has created an interesting looking top. We’ll see what happens. Gave them a small amount of nutrients a few days ago as the leaves started getting pale. How much should I be feeding now? Thanks

Earlier this week (Monday) the three triple cheese girls were transplanted from their solo cups into 10L fabric pots with organic soil and perlite. Their root mass looked really healthy and they took to their new pots immediately. No visible ‘sadness’ in shock. They haven’t received any nutrients since transplant, except rhizotonic with ph’d water. Also applied in spray to leaves for quick root recovery. RH sitting between 50-60% Day temperatures no higher than 27/28 degrees Celsius. Night temperatures around 18 degrees Celsius, occasionally as low as 17.3. Not too worried about this as the girls don’t seem to care. Really enjoying photoperiods right now, these triple cheese girls have been a delight to grow thus far. Beginning to understand why cheese is so prevalent in this part of the world. They’ve all taken well to their initial topping, with each three plants being staggered across 3 weeks. I’ll be topping again eventually, and I can already tell in the earlier topped girl that she will take very well to LST. PLEASE ask questions or give me tips. Thanks for stopping by.

Hopefully some of you out there appreciate the non-cannabis growing seeds as much as me. Peppers and chillies are on the agenda for this summer, giving them an early head start in the tent. Lots more chillies will be germinated in the next few days. I’ll likely continue adding pictures of them on here just because it’s my diary and I’ll do what I want 😂 Anyway, Triple Cheese! Barney’s Farm...I am in love with this photoperiod. Extremely healthy growth this week, if you look back on the previous week you’ll see just how much they’ve grown in 7 days. Unforuntatley I snapped a top when LSTing one girl, didn’t notice until the next day. Attempted to save it to no avail. Oh well, three beautiful tops will have to do. After 6 weeks of vegging I took the decision this morning to flip to 12-12. Don’t want these girls exploding on me too much, plus I’m so excited for flower to start. This grow has being an absolute delight. I will attempt autos again, but damn photoperiods are just beautiful, easy(ish) to manipulate. I’m genuinely having such a great experience with this strain so far. If you’ve got any experience for a photoperiod noob for when you enter flower, please do share. Thanks for reading 😁😁

Explosive growth this week again. Lights have been flipped to 12/12 for the last 6/7 days, hoping they’ll show their lady parts ASAP? Lots of gentle LSTing, which I’m thoroughly enjoying. Tallest plant is now 20cm in height, but would easily be double that without the training. Micro and grow feed increased by 50% to reflect plants growth and increased water intake. Last week was 2ml/L of both micro and grow, now 3ml/L fed yesterday. I don’t think they’ll hate me for it. Still adding CalMag every week to avoid deficiencies, 2ml/L appears to be fine.

Hi growers! I flipped the lights to 12/12 about a week ago, when can I expect to see pistilils forming? Another week or so? Also, when should I introduce bloom feed? As soon as the pistils come? I’m using AN ph perfect micro grow bloom, should I maintain an equal amount of all?

Hey there Willy! So you should start to see signs of pistols in about a week or so like you said👍 As for the feed what I like to do is lower the veg nutes a little and add what I took away from the veg nutes with the bloom nutes make sense? The reason i like to do this is to keep some of the veg nutes in for the stretch where the plant will need a little more nitrogen than most Bloom nutes have. Then at about start of week 3 or once all the pre-buds have come in which ever comes first, I Get rid of the veg nutes and go straight bloom nutes. It seems to work very well Oh yea with the micro you can keep that in the schedule if you want👍 Happy Growing

Another very successful week! Couldn’t be happier right now. Not entirely sure on the true height of these girls now, every couple days I’m manipulating them down to create an almost perfectly flat canopy. Still using the ‘water-feed-water-feed schedule’, they are really happy with it. Currently getting watered every 3 days or so. Still not a single deficiency in sight, wow! For my second(ish) grow I’m exceptionally pleased with that. Still no signs of lady parts which is disappointing, really hoping to see those pistils ASAP. The only issue I faced a few weeks back was accidentally snapping a top, she has however recovered greatly since then, I LST’d other tops over in the direction of the gap, and to be honest now you can’t even tell. Thanks again to Barney’s Farm for kindly providing these seeds, it’s truly a pleasure to see these beautiful resilient strains perform under my guidance. Thanks for stopping by, please comment below as I love to engage with people on here. I’m not a social media user, but damn do I love this site. Happy growing! 🌱

As of yesterday the Triple Cheese started showing their lady parts! Tiny pistils showing and I couldn’t be more pleased. Bloom nutrients were added the day before they started showing, so perfect timing. Big Bud has been added at 2ml/L alongside the other nutrients. The height of the canopy is a little under 50cm, obviously due to a lot of training. Very little room in the tent now, but I’m counting at least 30 tops hopefully. Once they’re a week or two into proper bud formation I’ll do some defoliation, but right now I’m inclined to leave them to do their thing. So far I’m preferring photoperiods to autos, so much more resilient to training techniques and overall beautiful to see. Thanks again Barney’s Farm, you guys are great!! Any tips for someone new to the flowering stage of cannabis?

Another great week for these 3 triple cheese girls. Still not a single issue which makes me very happy. Struggling to keep the humidity where I want it, tends to be about 60%. Still feeding micro grow and bloom at 75% of packaging recommendation, big bud being fed at full strength as last week. Exciting weeks ahead now 😁😁🌱

Well, after a really good session training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I came home all full of exercise high. Had a peek in the tent to see the immensely happy girls. Couldn’t help but do this update tonight instead of first thing in the morning. A couple of days ago I recalibrated two pH pens, just to keep on top of things. Nutrients are still being fed at the same level as the previous two weeks and I don’t intend to change it. Some pretty heavy defoliation again this week, definitely a requirement of this strain that’s for sure. Check out the previous weeks to really see the difference. ‘Daytime’ temps are hitting 30oC now, occasionally a little higher. ‘Night time temps about 23oC. Nothing I can do to alter that but the three plants seem fine with it. Now on a ‘water water feed’ schedule as opposed you ‘water feed water feed’ simply because they now need water every couple of days. I’m tight 😆 Question to be posted under ‘questions’ regarding LED lights. Thanks for reading, drop a like and a comment if you want!

Hi fellow growers! Light question. Using a 600w LED with veg and flower switches. I’ve been using both spectrums since starting flower as I figured 600w full spectrum is better than 300w just flower? Is this okay? I’d prefer to use as much wattage as possible to maximise yields.

Hey WillyWonka, yeah you did well adding the extra spectrum to the light, plants like that slightly different spectrum more during flower. Thing about led lights is the spectrum they say it is and the actual W at the wall they take may be very different. To be 100 rigorous you can get a watt meter online for less than 10 dollars plus shipping. Just plug the plug into it and it gives you a reading. With LEDs there's two main problems (strength, and the blurple - is the sun purple?) and coverage. The best you can do with LEDs is make sure every square inch of your tent has a LED on it. Try getting a lux meter or a par meter to check around at various places in your tent , you'll be surprised at how the light intensity varies. Folks say you dont get acurate readings LEDs and lux meters, but you get a ball parc idea of the variations occuring in your tent. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Another smooth week with no issues. Plant 1 is the most developed, with plant 3 behind the group. Got a feeling I’ll be leaving Plant 3 in the tent for longer than the rest, although I really want to harvest them as a group. Temperature and humidity levels are solid and in control. RH between 40-50%. Watering every 2 days now, between 2.25-2.5L for each plant following ‘water water feed’ schedule. Still feeding the same nutrient levels with no complaints from the girls. Carbon filter was added mid week as it’s getting really smelly. Carbon filter is working like a charm. Buds are incredibly sticky to the touch now, even after washing my hands I can’t remove the smell. Smell is currently a mix between skunk and berries. Hoping the blueberry lineage will shine through come harvest time. For those of you who don’t know this strain, Barney’s Farm created Triple Cheese by crossing Blue Cheese and Original Cheese (Skunk #1). The smell is definitely living up to dank cheese. Thanks for stopping by!! 🌱

A couple of people have stated that my buds are small considering the week I’m in flower. Why is this? Can I do anything to remedy this fact? Or are they just growing at the pace they’re growing?

Yoo dude ! considering the fact that is announced 8 weeks of flowering by barney's…. yeah your buds seems small. but often it takes also more than announced. to my point of view there is one thing that you could do now to try to boost your grow… add a watering solution 22/24 °C (Depending on your tent temperature) with symbiotics fungies (mycorhizae and trichoderma + if u can some bacterias) and you add a litle bit of bio molasses with them (3 ml /L for sugar) in order to accelerate the development of these micro-organisms….It is advisable to put a little pinch of this fungies on three 7cm holes deep, holes that you will then close before watering the solution normally this mix In addition to stimulating flowering, is possible to break the blocking of eventual nutrients… and it will restore the soil activity as it best… where you from ? the nutrient company in UK have a good pack, including bacterias. but if i have an advice it is alway use symbiotics fongies at start, when you transplant and after 2/3 weeks of blooming stage 👍 last question what is your led light ? (ref plse) Hope it will helps. Namasté 🙏

Another smooth week. Still moving slowly and a couple other growers have commented on the slowly maturing buds. I’m not too worried though. Buds smell amazing, trichome development is coming in very well. Plant 1 is more mature than the rest and it’s easily become my favourite. Plant growing is such a patient art. With everything I’m growing right now, Cannabis for sure grows the fastest. Despite this I’d love it to be quicker. Can not wait to knock my head off with this stinky cheese.

I lowered nitrogen after last weeks update, in an attempt to limit vegetative growth and focus more on bud development. However 4/5 days later there were yellowing on some older leaves - mainly lower or side leaves. So I’ve gone back to nutrient level stated on the diary. Big bud has been lowered slightly and will continued to be lowered weekly. Had to add support stakes for the back plant as they were drooping down too much, the added weight from the buds needed help. Buds are getting fatter, the tent absolutely stinks and the carbon filter no longer holds back the smell fully. Watering every day now, about 1.6L. It’s really warm at the moment which means day and night temps. An both be just under 30 degrees Celsius. RH sticking around 40%, sometimes a little higher or lower - happy with that. What do you recommend for this stage of a photoperiods life? How long do you think I have until I need to start flushing etc? 🌱🌱🌱

Welcome back! That’s the end of week 15. Been flowering longer than strain standard but only a week or so to go. Really want to push these as far as I can to get the most possible out of them. This grow has gone on for a long time now, it would be silly to rush so close to the end. Sampled a bit the other night. Had a 4am start so knew I’d need something to knock me out early. This stuff didn’t disappoint! Half way through the spliff I was incredibly high. Mmmmmhh 😻 Slightly reduced micro grow and bloom nutrients evenly a couple days ago. Was 3ml/L on all but down to 2ml/L now. Slight nute burn on leaf tips a while back, so hopefully they’ll like that. Tent really stinks and it’s delightful to just sit and stare at them. Almost impossible to wash off the resinous stink from your fingers, no complaints here!! Will start flushing next week depending on how this next week plays out. 🌱

Flushed a couple days ago, after 17 long weeks the 3 girls finally have yellowing leaves (albeit intentionally) and I’m really happy with that. Lots of leaves have been coming off with the slightest touch. Two more 12hr cycles of light and they’re going into darkness for 48hrs. Harvest day is Monday (day off work) and it’s definitely going to be the biggest harvest I’ve had. I’m so excited! All this hard work and patience is going to pay off. Question below regarding final watering. Thanks for reading! 🌱

Depending on how they were drinking you could give them 1 last water. I would make sure the soil is dry before going into the 48 hours of darkness. Keep the airflow up and you will be good. Good luck and happy growing! 💪

It’s finally here! Plant #1 - the best shaped plant, uniform etc. Yielded 49g dry. Plant #2 - biggest buds of the three, yielded 47g dry. Plant #3 - the odd one of the three, longer airy buds, yielded 44g dry. Easily my most successful harvest to date. I was genuinely sad cutting these girls down. Not a single deficiency all grow, no nuke burn, no overwatering. Took a while to enter flower, not sure why, added a few weeks to the grow but it’s all done now! I’m going to repeat what I did at the end of my last grow... So what did I learn this grow? - less is more, no need to rush the nutrients, water water feed schedule works a dream. - photoperiods are extremely fun, respond well to topping etc. Fimming is particularly fun. - Important to keep humidity in check, especially early on. Need to buy a new one for next grow - I broke my current one. I really think I enjoyed growing this strain even more than I enjoy consuming cannabis. I was taken aback when I had a sad moment before I began chopping them down. I’ve found a real hobby here. Thank you to everyone who has helped me this grow! The next grow will either be Lemon AK autoflowers, or pink kush and violator kush photoperiod. What do you think?
