1 - 04 - 10 - Day 1 of Flower. She's showing signs already. The EM is still behind her for time frame. I'll post a more updated diary entry later on this evening. 2 - 04 -16 - I've been the shits for keeping up with the verbal end of things. Hopefully the photos are doing enough justice. Feel free to follow me on Instagram as well. Same username. Anyhow, I topped dressed both flowering plants this morning. 1tblsp of 4-4-4 and 3 tblsp of 2-8-4 from Gaia Green Organics. They seem to be doing well. I've done daily LST for weeks on end. Leaf tucks every day multiple times per day. I've also clipped some of the lower end of the plant away. Some big fans are no more as they seem to be soaking up the majority of the food and blocking key flower sites.

Grow Questions

Looking for a suggestion, check the photos of the lights for the details. My space is a 4Lร—2Wร—5T. Just wondering if anyone has experience with a similar space and running LED system with either 300w or 600w. I'd like to go the distance.

Hey there ive got a 4x5x2 going right now too, with 2 300 leds. It was going good with 1 when the plants were smaller, but once they got a little bigger they needed their own light. This rose the temperature and i needed to add on a 4 in intake duct fan, it helped but lowered humidity intensely. My 2 36 inch plants are handling the light well but also running out of decent light to plant space...so definitely lst or top etc and you'll have much more room to work with and maybe won't battle some slight light burn like mine. Especially with the bump up to the 600 watt light you'll definitely want to keep the plants as low and flat canopy as possible. Good luck with the new gear. Love the baller dollar dome lol.โœŒ๏ธ

Clearly she's heavily stunted, yet she is showing some good signs of strong production at the bud sites. Any thoughts on what could have been the actual reason it's stunted/dwarfed? Did I potentially over-train? Funky seed? Transplant issues? Have a look through the weeks, lmk!

For starters work with what you have. Personally I think topping/ fimming small auto flowers is a waste of time. Their life span is so short you lose valuable vegetative time/energy when you top. If she was a XL or XXL variety and you had limited room it would work. LST is the way to go. Your ph of 6.6 could be part of the issue it's too high for soil less you should be down around 5.7 to 6.0. You should also be checking the ph and TDS of your runoff to give you a better idea of whats going on in the root zone. The lower ph would have helped the roots take in more nutrients. I also think you may have been under feeding her. I'm unsure about the N-P-K ratio of your nutes but you may want to tweek your regime by either increasing your nutes or using additional beneficial products. Don't be fooled by the size of the plant sometimes the smaller buds are the most potent. Good luck

Hey so i had 2 different brand 300 watt leds...and it was insane how much better the 1 worked over the other. The plant under the faulty light was much less matured and far less trichromes...i replaced that light with a new one, it must only be good for veg not flower.โœŒ๏ธ

@Ga4rd2en0er, I grabbed mine from Indo Products in Surrey, British Columbia Canada. I think the website is www.indoproducts.ca or com. It's a business, they are registered and the equipment is top quality. They do tons of different equipment and have some pretty large tents. 10'*10' soon in stock. I'll post some information on the nutrients I'm using for the one. They are done by Indo as well (you can find them online) Btw. That's exactly where I'm trying to be. I've done all the math and I can likely run 2 400's with good success. They suggested that, but I was tempted to see the output of the 800 and push my space to it's maximum.

@JBOrganix, sorry, i read through and couldn't determin whom you bought the lights from. Is it an actual business or a small home garage operation? I like to run my rooms at around 50 to 60w per sqft if possible. Ive hermied a plant in the past from too intense led lighting. Thanks for the info!!

Howdy- I feel your pain regarding the battle of light versus heat..I'm pulling my hair out for the past several days with finding the right combination of light and ventilation in my rig now that I'm trying to run two flowering tents in the room instead of just one...if I can pull it off I'll have a helluva harvest, but I'm not sure what it will take to achieve optimal flowering temps without sacrificing too much PAR quite yet...๐Ÿ˜• If you haven't grown Candy Cane yet, you're gonna love it. Delicious and plenty potent. If you let them go to about 30%-40% amber trichromes before you kill them, it will kick your ass.๐Ÿ‘ If you can dramatically increase the CO2 levels in your tent, you can get away with much more light...and also much more HEAT without any detrimental effects to your crop. Strive for maintaining 1400ppm while your lights are on...achieve that, and your plants can tolerate 100f temps during flower with no leaf damage, diminished flavor, aroma, or potency. Also, I've seen much, and had some success with quantum board or quantum bar lights. You can get beaucoup PAR without nearly as much heat as COBs or blurples...especially if you have some direct airflow over them. Good luck with finding the perfect balance!

@JBOrganix, With autos, I always think it best to transplant as early as possible, but I did have to transplant one on my last grow about a week after it started flowering...and she did fine.

JBOrganixcommented6 years ago
@Silverback_Guerilla, I still have to transplant my GSC at some point here. I was thinking about either doing it at the start of week 3 or end of 3. Just not sure if waiting will be too late or going straight at it now being too soon. Any thoughts? Thanks! ๐ŸŒฑ

@Silverback_Guerilla, really appreciate the comment. What kind of space are you working with? I debated on not even tenting as it's already in a 10*4 closet. I think the 800w just made me nervous, likely a smart buy in the end but didn't want to do any damage with light burn or otherwise. I will upgrade to the 2 / 400s. (Should achieve 600 total then) I wanted to be at least 600w for a 4*2 canopy space. My space never leaves 40-60 Rh. Even outside my tent. As for co2. I'm currently not running any. Just posted for 450 as that's a near standard for air in a room that size with the transfer I have going. I almost did the burple but went with the cree full spectrum unit. I think it's their bulbs under a custom ballast box unit. I was going to go into a different lighting unit all together but the price point for these two is unbeatable. $150 /400w $300 /800w. I ended up getting some more filters and fans which has changed my atmospheric temps and kept my tent at roughly 75.8 - 79.5. doesn't leave that during lights on, no cooler than 70 at night. Hopefully it gets sorted for flower. Feeling like I'll be running the 2 400's. I'm tempted on trying a sunrise and sunset style run going from L-R 6hrs for left, both run 6, then 6 for right. I also have some supplemental side profiled lighting. 18k T5's that are high burple specific. Lots of purples less blues. It's a marine light and I use them for the first and last hour of each day

The true wattage is 300 w? then i would start with around 40 cm from the plants, and watch them. Maybe you have your grow light from your grow before .... i woud use it until they are old enough for more

@Mrs_Larimar, thanks for the reply. I did return the Home Depot special. It was only 32 true watts. I still currently have my 2 T5's with a 24" 10k bulb and a 12" 18k bulb. Just lowered the 24" over top of my dome canopy. You can see the update in the video/photos.

Best of luck. I would be careful about adding too much perlite. It can cause you to have to water more often, as you have less medium to hold moisture near the roots.
JBOrganix
JBOrganixcommented6 years ago
@buddha61, thanks! Yeah I was slightly cautious of the perlite. I've seen a few grows now that have benefited from the additional perlite content to the coco medium. I had concerns before with them hanging onto too much moisture; this has me watering once every 2 days currently. I'm sure things will change once it starts to get some legs.
