Growing in the Amazon #1

amazongrow * Day 04: Added some Azomite to the soil. Hi guys, this is my third grow, but the first one with a top quality seed from a trusted seed bank. In the first try I made a lot of errors and got little yield, and in the second run I got a little bit better with some LST and more light. This time I’ll be growing in a small 2x2x5 tent with two fans for air circulation, an extractor, and for the lights I got two 50w 3400K homemade COB chips and a Wattshine P450 panel, the total real wattage is 168w. I’m thinking about adding two more of the COB chips, I will tell if I do so. So, this is my first top quality strain, I hope to have learned a little bit more so I can do better than the last and keep improving. I also have other plants in the house: tomatoes, coriander, rosemary, oregano, aloe vera, thyme, and a few others. As people might know, here in Brazil pot is still illegal, growing also, so I do a stealth grow while hiding in plain sight. My tent is in the kitchen of my apartment and is perfectly integrated into the ambient's layout. When people come I take the girl(s) out to the closet or bathroom and leave only the vegetables, so people are used to the tent, and as they have already looked some time before, they tend to forget about it, so in time I just leave the girl(s) there and they don’t even care to ask about the tent anymore. I’ve been successful till now, but it takes some care. So... Northern Lights by Sensi Seeds, a dream coming true. I can’t wait for the girl to pop out, I soaked her for 8h overnight in plain water and planted directly in soil. The media is a mix of sphagnum peat and vermiculite. I did a bed with endomycorrhizae and covered it in moistened soil. I’ve added a thin plastic layer with some small holes on top of the pot to keep humidity high, but I don’t think I need it as I’m growing in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, and the air humidity here right now is around 90% outside and 83% inside and no, it’s not a joke. =) So, keep following if you want to check it out and exchange some advice and errors, I will be glad to follow your diaries along too, just introduce yourself. amazongrow Hi guys, been busy and got late updating the diary, sorry. She's doing fine I guess, what do you think? She has 10 days today, gave a little bioheaven some days ago, and she loved it. Also I think she's liking the Azomite too, zero deficiencies till now, at least for now I think. Next feed I will give her 1/4 dosage Biogrow + 1/2 dosage BioHeaven. She will be transplanted to a 3gal pot around 19-21 april. Her final resting place. Any suggestions are always welcome! Tchau. do Brazil. =)

amazongrow Hey bros, I never had a plant that was 30cm with lots of branches and leaves like this one on the 20th day, doesn't she look fantastic? I don't know if it was the Azomite or because she's a Sensi Seedling =) My friend told me I should let her be with no topping and switch to flower right away, what do you think? I got only 1.6m of vertical space and 168w, is it ok for such a thing with no topping? At least for now, I've decided not to top and do a minor LST for 2 weeks, going to flower around May 7th... any advice? I just don't want to lose this top cola but I also want to spread her out and let the other secondary branches thrive! Oh, and should I take those big hand-sized fan leaves? when? amazongrow Hey broooos, the girl is up and running, will update two weeks in a row, sorry, but had the pics taken in time. Did some LST and topped 4 branches including the main cola (took a few clones with aloe and coconut), so she is ready to get more bushy. Had to say goodbye to a few fan leaves that were blocking the light. I dont like defoliating and I did it just because I waited too much before LST, but she is strong and vigorous, let's see if she can handle it all. Oh, also up with the Bio Grow dosage to 0.75ml/l, shes doing fine and it's the first plant I grow that isn't overfed. The difference is noticeable on the color of the leaves, no curling and the flow of growth is amazing, as you can see on her 25th day from sprouting her sensi seed shell. amazongrow She is doing fine, I think, no overfeeding yet. I’ve been going slow with BioGrow and it seems to be much more effective starting slow and up the dose after flowering. I will flip her on May 7th. Hope she fits the space Never seen such a strong and vigorous plant. Tchau, do Brazil

amazongrow Hey bro(s), We went flowering on May 6th, oh god she is getting big, I got some of the ties loose and she just stretched.... wish I didn't because I would be getting more light in a shorter plant. She's still losing some leafs from the bottom though, kind of an auto defoliation, so I did not touch her, mostly for her drought period (check photos). I am waiting for her to recover, so I'll give her a week. She's doing alright, I will be updating again soon.

amazongrow Second week flowering, days 08 to 10. She recovered well from the lack of drinks from last week but was getting too dense and losing a few yellow leaves from below, they just fall when I touch them. I also took about 10 leaves that were blocking more light than receiving, plus I shortened the ties and she's shorter now, tops spread and light is getting through to the ground, I exposed lots of smaller buds that weren't getting any light also. At the end I gave her 2l pure water plus 2l feed as described in the nutrients section. Hope she takes it well because I think her leaves were getting too much green, but still no nutrient burn, hope I can get through without it. She's just lovely I'd have to say. Tchau, do Brazil! =)

amazongrow Hi brooo(s), This week has been great, it's been around 7 days since I put the net on and she is getting acquainted. You can notice a white spectrum light on the lower left corner too, I've added a 50w 4000k white light led I had from my first grow... too many tops I thought. At first I thought it wouldn't make such a big difference but as time goes by I noticed the plants liked it and were growing strong under it s light. So, I'm mixing a lot of spectrums.. I have now one 450w Wattshine LED panel with 4 par spectrums, the 50w 4000k white light led and the two 3400k homemade COBS. Note about the COB: - I don't know if it's default for every COB chip, but the one I got have an Intel Cooler blowing wind directly over it... and with no shell box, so the wind goes straight down to the... PLANTS! - I was feeling the temperature inside the grow a little hot then usual, but I had the thermometer at the fridge monitoring the seeds my friend got from Chile. So I got it back and for my surprise it was around 32 to 34C. Yeah, wow! - And then I looked at the COB chips blowing wind down.. MY GOD! NO! - Turned them off and... -3C in temperature... down to 30C in the grow while 29C outside... in the day - But the plants love the COB.. :/ So now I've bought a Quantum Board, with 384 samsung leds, 1 year warranty and full support.. dual mode for 4000k veg and 3000k flower.. :) it will arrive in a few days (10 maybe). But what do you think, how is she? One thing I might add about nutrients: I was giving 3L water per watering. 1L pure water + 2l feed water... and no runoff. So, do you get it? The feed I was giving was being diluted from 2l to 3l... I've noticed it and added the rest. You will see the difference next week I think. Tchau, do Brazil =)

amazongrow Hi bro(s), been busy, sorry for the late update and bad pics. The QB has arrived and it's fantastic, the penetration of light is amazing, everything has lighten up, wish I had not cut those little popcorn buds =) A few burned tips begin to show in some upper cola leaves, nothing much but she had pure water for a few waterings and now she is back... what do you think, will I get a decent yield? Some little cola broke this week, I put it to dry, let's check it later on the next update. Putting the COB chips out just made the temps down from 34C at midday to 31C, just 2C above room temp, it was hitting 4-5C above with the older mentioned chips. We are loving the QB, did I mention that? The QB is made in Brazil and assembled by an italian company with 384 Samsung LEDs: - https://www.samsung.com/led/lighting/mid-power-leds/5630-leds/lm561c The QB has too switchs for Veg & Flower, 4000k for veg and 3000k for flower, when flowering using both 4000k/3000k =) No noise, no heat, way more light! amazongrow Hey bro(s), Been busy, sorry for not updating often, but here we go... She's been complaining about the feed and got some leaf burn tips, just a little as a warning so the next watering will be only with pure amazonian well-water (from a well, like a wishing well) for a week maybe, and then will give her some KoolBloom, as a friend sent me some and advised me to try, and I will, so after that the end is near and we will be flushing with just pure water for a week with lots of runoff. I hope she will do fine. Any advice on the KB? Im thinking giving only the KB on a normal dose which is 1.25g for 4l (1gl)... just for one watering (4l).. or should I do like twice in a week and flush? Just KB and topmax Im thinking... or the KB alone. =) Oh, we have a video now. That's it, tchau... do Brazil!

amazongrow Hey guys, The end is near, I think. I hope to get lots of buds and weight from this girls, she was nice from the start, a huge plant, beautiful genetics... a strong being, I thank the universe for her. It was my dream to grow a NL and it was much more then I expected. Im so happy. Last feeding this week and the next weeks are going to be just pure amazonian water... :) Added some trichome images from my small microscope, it is from a bottom bud that was shaded so I cut it. Even so I think it was good and growing, so I thought "why should I took the popcorn?" - next time I will not cut anything, not even a leaf. Let's see if it makes a difference. So, do you think about the trichomes? The big buds up there are more ripe and developed, but judging from this small bottom bud... she's getting there? :) How much weight do you think she can yield, dry? Thanks for being here with us! amazongrow Hey guys, I was super busy those last few days so I went behind with my updating schedule! We started flushing with pure water only, at about 20% runoff this week. Stilll lots of leaf tip burns... she was way over her head already.... a little bit less nutrients next time, but nothing really compromising I guess! =) Next update coming in shortly =)

amazongrow Hi guys, sorry for the delay. This was the last week before harvest at day 60. Last mini-flush. I was going to give her some KoolBloom (powder) but I thought she doesn't need it and I had no time, cause I had a deadline, maybe next time. =)

Growing a plant, a being, is a very good experience, Im just in love with it. I can't believe I got almost 100g of dry bud. And the quality is superb, better then anything I've tried.
