So I’ve been having issues with the design of my leds (never listen to friends with no experience with growing) anyways my solution for the heat of the leds is to dim down to 40% power I’ve also changed the angle of my led setup you can see in pics. Also added a 400 watt hps for 200$ it’s dimmable as well so now I’m running less wattage with a greater spectrum and much more lumens.

Hello thanks for having me. So all of my velvet Krush seedlings and the Afghan are much smaller than the others. They also all still have quite purple stems. I’m worried about the VK as the leaves are curling downwards did I overwater? Or do they need some food?

Hello back again girls have new shoes and are looking healthy. I’m seeing a slight curl in the tips of my leaves. Possibly over watering? I’m very green but I would rule out any nutrient toxicity or deficiency. Tent was recently moved to the basement and now temps and rh are nice

Brother your grow looks great. It's a very common to be a bit heavy handed with the water in the beginning. Everyones guilty of it. It's a fear that not giving it enough water then going to work when you get home your plant will be dead. You can try lifting up the pot and start to get a feel for the weight of it before and after watering. Ideally the plants like a modest wet/dry cycle. With a slightly drier soil the roots will grow out in search of water. If you over water your roots get lazy and can rot. In the future you can add 25-30% perlite to your soil mix to loosen it up and provide more oxygen to the root zone and better drainage. If your still having difficulty determining if shes too wet try using an electronic moisture meter to give you a rough idea how moist different levels are in the pot. Good luck, happy growing

Two of my girls are taking long to flower and have light green leaves all over except for the oldest leaves which are dark and healthy color. Should I be worried or possibly just genetics?

Hi @PapaSmurf416! Nitrogen plays an important role in your plant's health: this type of yellowing usually means that your plant is not able to find enough Nitrogen. Too much Nitrogen = dark leaves, stunted flowers, big stretch. Not enough Nitrogen = yellow leaves, lack of vertical stretch, bottom leaves dying. Your slight Nitrogen deficiency is related to the plant doing its "stretch" cycle. Once your plant enters into flowering stage, she focuses on vertical stretching for a few days, before putting all its energy into bud expanding and resin production later. In your situation, I won't worry that much, the stretch should be over now and your plant is going to need less N and more P+K. What's your soil and what's your feeding schedule? Depending on those elements, you will probably need to add some P+K into your next waterings, to help flowers to expand. Hope this will help, keep us updated and happy growing! 👊

Curing and drying tips or info please! I’m currently trimming fans then hang drying for 7-10 days at 45-60 Rh temps 23-25. Then curing in jars. Once my ideal humidity (IMO) is reached do I still burp the jars? Or will they get funkier sitting closed? Last question of the diary!

All your temps and humidity sound good and your gonna get a lot of answers for this question I had my first grow and temps and humidity of mine were higher I had 30degrees and 74 % humidity they dried 6 days ..put into jars with bovida humidity packs at 62% relative humidity and burped twice a day 10 min for about two weeks .. then I burped twice that week and once the next ...make sure they are not to packed into the jar andv not to wet or they will mold ... Pop em out on paper for 5min mold will grab hold quick and destroy that hard work real quick.. hope that helps but really watch for that mold it sucks ...

@Mrs_Larimar, Thank you so much! I did a very mild foliar feed with some Mountain Organics tonic. I think I had the lights way to low there about 32 inches now from canopy but before was like 18. Underestimated these powerful leds. And yes I had some that were close to a larger circulating fan and whenever I looked at them the movement seemed fine. I didn’t realize once I closed the tent how much more the wind picks up so to speak I peaked through my window and they were wild. So I found the culprit I believe leaving that large fan off for now. Girls will be getting new shoes before next update 👍 cheers thanks again.

@Mrs_Larimar, cheers! Yes I read about different flowering light cycles for more sativa dominant expression, I was thinking of going down to 11/13 in the last week or two but I noticed the Frost still was in a veg state. She’s taking off now!

@Stick, I’ve got a local supersoil that was amended with some lime and Gaia all purpose since then I’ve mostly been using compost teas. I was thinking nitrogen to, these two plants in particular probably needed some extra N during veg. I just added some liquid kelp and guano but I’m looking into basalt or something for potassium or you think I’ll be ok?

Don't a lot of people when germinating or cloning add in a very mild bloom nutrient? Maybe if you gave them a super mild dose of a PK the purple stems may go away and if not then you are probably right about the genes...

I think perhaps I’ve been overwatering the smaller guys and suffocating them a bit. Also one of the VK has some severe droopyness and burning tips. Will update in 2 days on all. Thank you! I just put in some extra holes in the sides of all the cups. 🤞

@PapaSmurf416, I think the light may have been too close then. With Leds you have to be really careful to judge the correct height, as they start growing more leaves or if you notice them Stretch, bring the light a little closer and monitor it until you find the sweet spot! Looking good though!
PapaSmurf416
PapaSmurf416commented6 years ago
@Fruitgrower, Hey at maximum power they produce I think 320 or 340 watts but I’ve only had it less than half power so probably 140. They are Samsung lm561 c strips. I think temps in the tent have been to hot for a while. I raised the light to 34 inches

Fruitgrowercommented6 years ago
@PapaSmurf416, could be the light is too hot or too close. What power do the led produce?
PapaSmurf416
PapaSmurf416commentedweek 135 years ago
Updated pics during daytime now that my led is back in service HPS is a really orange spectrum. I’m going to look into CMH bulbs.
