JonnyTerpen The ladies are seeing the light of the world. The Pink Chai only joined the tent 5 days later. I'm curious to see how my first organic and also LED grow goes, it will be exciting. I do have some experience, but the last run was almost 10 years ago. Have fun watching! 🤠💚

JonnyTerpen They were repotted into 2-liter pots, and the pots were all nicely rooted. Watering is done only with pH-regulated water and a bit of CalMag, since my tap water isn't ideal.

JonnyTerpen The plants were topped and two Fimming sessions were done. I have to say I prefer the regular topping; I found that Fimming set the plant back a bit. Watering was done again with just water, adding calmag and adjusting the pH to 7.0. The light is now running at 60%, which corresponds to about 600 ppfd.

JonnyTerpen The last week of veg and everything is going according to plan. From now on, we’ll start training, the girls are getting to know the SCROG net. They’re well-fed, let’s see if the living soil holds up until the end. Veg was between 22-28 days. The light was set to 80% this week, which corresponds to about 750 ppfd.

JonnyTerpen Everything is going according to plan, maybe the veg stage could have been a bit longer. But I think after the stretch they will have an acceptable size. I set the light to 100% on the 4th day of flowering, which corresponds to about 960 ppfd.

JonnyTerpen Hey friends, today a little update, it's now flower day 24 and the stretch doesn't seem to be quite over yet, especially the Papaya and the Pink Chai have really taken off again. Today I watered double the amount since the lower leaves were already slightly dried out and the pots felt very light. The Pink Chai is getting minimal yellow tips, but I think it's negligible, suspected it was too much light. She definitely stopped stretching her leaves towards the light after that, so no more praying leaves for now, reduced the distance today and she's praying again. I'm looking forward to any feedback and wish you a nice weekend! ✌️💚

JonnyTerpen Hey guys, today a little update from flower day 32. I’d say this week hasn’t gone perfectly, but it was only a matter of time before the first mistakes happened and the first problems showed up. Overall, I’m satisfied, the stretch is over and the plants are drinking significantly less now. Unfortunately, I had temperature and humidity issues, and I don’t think the girls really like the underfloor heating either. The Papaya Frosting is still doing great, super frosty and smells really nice. The other three are going a bit slower and I don’t think they’re too happy, but they haven’t really taken a turn for the worse yet. The Blue Cheese has brown tips that are curling up, my suspicion is cold drafts and too warm roots from the underfloor heating (it’s right in front of the intake). Somehow, they all have purple tips and the Pink Chai is getting completely purple leaves right now; I once forgot to close a tilted window and it was only 19 degrees during the light phase. Another idea could be potassium deficiency from too much calcium, but that’s unlikely because the curled leaves started when I forgot the window. This week I’ll give a bit of Greenhouse Booster and reduce CalMag again; I don’t fully trust that the soil will hold up until the end. Have a nice weekend! 🖖

JonnyTerpen Update from Flowering Day 39 First of all, I wish you all big buds on the trees and all the best for St. Nicholas Day! 🎅💚 This week continued with some question marks, but take a look at the pictures yourself. So far, I'm only a bit worried about the Blue Cheese; the brown tips are getting worse, and the others are showing some early signs too. At first, I thought it was due to overwatering, light stress, or climate problems, and now I'm thinking it might be too much CalMag, and the booster gave them the rest. If I'm not mistaken, too much magnesium enhances the uptake of phosphorus, at least that's my theory. For now, they're only getting water; I think we'll manage to finish this well. The soil seems to have enough power for everyone, so it should go better next run. Have a great weekend, everyone! 🤠💚🖖

JonnyTerpen Update Flowering Day 45 Hey guys, here are some new pictures for you! Unfortunately, the plants are starting to look a bit worn out, but I think the buds are looking pretty good. This week I only gave them water, and very little of that too. I got myself a measuring device and I would say I had overwatered them (Stony had warned me about that beforehand). Other than that, not much has happened except that the girls got to try my new magic potion one more time today, so I already know for the next run if that combination works. Have a great weekend everyone! 🤠💚

JonnyTerpen Update Flowering Day 53 Hey guys, this is probably the last week before the harvest, the trichomes are mostly milky and I'm getting pretty impatient. The girls seem to have noticed that the journey is coming to an end, a little too early. I haven't really watered this week and have taken relatively little care of them, in the next few days they will only get a little water. But I don't want to overdo it anymore, the Papaya has formed a few bananas right after the last dry phase and the leaves shouldn't dry into the buds now, which is already getting tight. Living on the edge! Through the extreme experimenting, I think I've gotten to know the soil a bit better. Oh yeah, the Pink Chai has developed splendidly and is the only one that hasn't caused any issues at all. I've turned the lamp down a bit, it should only be about 800ppfd now. I wish you all a Merry Christmas! 💚🎄

JonnyTerpen Flowering Day 58 Hey friends, I spontaneously harvested today (unfortunately a bit too early), but now I can focus on Christmas and the trichomes were almost all milky, so it's not that bad. 🤓 For the first run after over 10 years, I'm relatively satisfied, especially in such a short time! 🦊 The pictures didn't turn out really well, it was too dark without a lamp, but I'll take some more once it's dried! I wish you and your loved ones happy holidays and a merry Christmas! 🎄💚

That looks good on your end too. I can return the compliment. The yellow tips can also come from too strong of a dryback or too much light, but it doesn't look like a problem at all. After the stretch, the plants noticeably drink less for about a week, but then they pick up again. Just be careful not to overwater during this recovery phase; it was a huge adjustment for the ladies, and they need some time. I also lower the light intensity a bit, so you’ve done everything right, you're on the right track to harvest a tasty yield, no worries.
Stony_German
Stony_German commented9mo ago
@JonnyTerpen, Sorry if I’m being a bit of a know-it-all, but I don’t see you using Silica. If I’m right, Google it or search for info on YouTube because the benefits of Mono-Silica are astronomical; I can’t find a stronger word for it. It was a real game changer when I started using it. It’s like steroids and a gym for the plants. 😉
Stony_German
Stony_German commented9mo ago
@JonnyTerpen, Of course, silica brings something to the table. You're still before the bulk phase, and more stable side branches can better support the heavy buds. And it's not a fertilizer, so overdoing it is hardly possible, it's just a waste of money, it can't harm. It depends on which silica you use and how quickly it's available to the plants. Monosilica from grow genius is absorbed immediately and, due to its purity, can also be used as a foliar spray (only possible with MonoSilica). If you use diatomaceous earth, which is often found in living soil mixes, it takes one to two weeks until it's available. The same goes for potassium silicate.

Everything's good in the last few weeks. That looks really good, and watering is just experience; it took me a few grows to get the hang of it too. Don't worry, the harvest will be tasty. 😉
JonnyTerpen
JonnyTerpen commented8mo ago
@Stony_German, thank you! I think so too, the Papaya smells really incredible and already has most of the trichomes milky. It's just annoying because you mentioned that during the recovery phase, you have to be a bit careful with watering. Next time I'll be smarter. 🤓
Stony_German
Stony_German commented8mo ago
@JonnyTerpen, there’s a recovery in the flowering stage after the stretch and hormonal change where the metabolism slows down. Then it goes full throttle again. With your new soil meter, you can see that well. When at the end it’s noticeably less (almost hardly any) water being consumed, it shows that it’s done. Then it’s just a matter of days or a few more depending on how you want your trichomes. Just keep growing and keep getting better. I’m still learning with every new run too.

Hi, so far everything looks good. About the underfloor heating. We have that in our grow room too. In the long run, it can lead to problems. We managed by putting the plants on a small plant roller. You can see it a bit in our diary for the Sex Bud. I would definitely recommend keeping a few cm distance from the floor. You really don't want to get root rot. Happy 420 :)
