Ensign420 |»» LOG DISCLAIMER: Not intended as a grow guide. Grow log entries are usually posted 3 weeks later and are for my learning reference. ««| Introduction - Week 00 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 17620.4, Ca-Caw! Ensign420 back with another grow log! Was planning on popping seeds this week, but did not have enough soil to fill the pots (Oops). Decided to push germination back a bit. Now plan to pop seeds next week. As for genetics, germinating more regular seeds and will sex test the seedlings for females. The pheno hunt continues on and searching through a pack of ‘Chillout OG (F3)’ from ‘Mr. Grow It’ along with some ‘Dead Ops OG’ from ‘Zaza Genetics!’ With the recent TKO failure (last cycle), this cycle is going to be a 3-plant flower cycle. Thankfully she’s still alive in the veg tent and have already taken clonal cuttings for another flower cycle. This grow week was basically a reset of the main tent along with general work in the veg garden. Aside from the tent reset, also upgraded the pots size and added a third pot to the main tent. For this grow log, plan to flower and scrog out in three 30-gallon Grassroots fabric pots. Also am trying the BluMat auto-watering system for the first time and have it installed and setup for one of the pots. Ordered and received more (BuildASoil) soil and by the end of the week, all 3 pots are now full and cover crop has been sowed! Also re-purposed the 20-gallon pot into a mulch bin. The veg garden has been bushing out and raging with growth so started the mother cycling process again and took a full set of clones. Also been occasionally checking my first tissue culture attempt and one of the Heady OG BX1 explants has been looking surprisingly healthy! Still have lots to do! Hunters of the dank! Let’s go! Let’s grow! Onwards to next week Ensign! Nice! - [+00:12]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Tanks are still full and no leaks found. --- Plan to reset the 4x4 tent tomorrow. --- Lots to do before germination begins! Day 02 - Tuesday - 10/28/25 - Total Days: -008 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages ~[+01:00] - Temps: 79.8°F [26.6°C] - Humidity: 68.7% - VPD: 1.08 kPa - Soil %: [32, 29, 28, 40, 41, 43, 46, 50, 37, 42] ----------------------------------- - [08:59]: Quick morning check on the 3x3 veg tent. --- Looking healthy and perky in the veg garden! --- Mothers, clones and explants all look good! --- Great! --- Plan to start another mother cycling soon to reset the veg tent with fresh clones. - [09:41]: Ca-Caw! Alright cutty! Time for another grow tent reset! --- Upgrading the setup to three 30-gallon Grassroots fabric pots! --- Also integrating the BluMat watering system for one of the pots. Pretty stoked to give these a try as this system utilizes no batteries and once properly calibrated, should provide perfect watering conditions for the plant. --- Let's go! let's grow!! - [09:47]: Before starting, need to soak the BluMat carrots. --- Placed both the sensor and meter carrots into a 5-gallon bucket full of RO water. --- From what I understand, the top cap of the carrot pinches the drip line at a certain (pre-dialed) tension. --- The watering carrots work similar to olla pots and are made of a porous clay tip which dries in sync with the soil. --- As the soil dries beyond a certain level, the carrot will start to absorb water from within the tube of water. This creates a natural vacuum and un-pinches the rubber drip line. --- The water flows out and hydrates the soil. At a certain point, the carrot will start absorbing more water from the soil which stops the vacuum on the cap and pinches the line shut. --- This system is both simple and quite ingenious. --- What can possibly go wrong!? --- Anyways! --- Removed the front bars from the scrog frame. Plan to re-assemble and re-string the frames later. --- Also removed the bags of BuildASoil 3.0 soil and started to reset the tent. --- Vacuumed plus cleaned the walls and floor with Formula EM-5 [~1:3 ratio diluted with RO water] --- Also shut off the watering lines and temporarily removed the top straw much, Ecowitt soil sensors, and drip rings from each pot. --- Removed the plant stumps and set them into a mulch bag. --- Re-arranged the mulch bags and shifted the 20-gallon pot to the back right quadrant. - [13:01]: Placed a fresh empty 30-gallon pot in the back left quadrant and filled it with soil from the 20-gallon pot. --- Put a little soil back into the 20-gallon before tossing all of the old mulch leaves and bags of branches into the pot. Will not be planting into the 20-gallon pot, but will instead use it as a mulch bin. - [14:40]: Filled the back-left pot with a combination of fresh BuildASoil 3.0 potting soil along with some soil from the front-right pot. Made holes for solo cups. --- Also topped the mulch bin with a thin layer of soil. --- Set another empty 30-gallon pot into the front left quadrant. --- Then filled the new pot with fresh BuildASoil 3.0 potting soil. --- Hmm.. --- Oops. --- Significantly under-estimated the amount of soil three 30-gallon pots can hold. - [16:16]: Mixed and tried to distribute the soil until all 3 pots were about even. --- Each pot can easily hold more. --- Will order more soil tonight! --- Shaka. Well.. --- Was planning on top dressing and planting cover crop, but now plan to wait for more soil.. --- Oh well! --- Anyways! - [16:56]: Placed the old Ecowitt soil sensors and drip rings onto the top of the back left and front left pots. --- Made sure to swap the batteries with new ones. - [16:59]: Okay! Time to install the BluMat watering system along with more Ecowitt soil sensors! --- Great! The carrots have been soaking for a bit and are ready to be capped. --- While underwater, capped and tightened the top of the watering carrot making sure there were no air bubbles. --- For the soil moisture meter, reset the unit by holding down the power button until the screen flashed three o’s (‘ooo’) before returning to 0. --- Held the carrot tube straight up and level before filling it to the very top until visible convex bubble of water formed. --- Then gently capped and tightened the top. Had to do this a few times, but made sure there were no bubbles in the tube. - [17:54]: Inserted and installed the watering carrot and moisture meter into the front right pot. --- Also installed the drip tape loop. --- Similar to a drip ring, the drip tape should water the top soil slowly and evenly. --- Once everything was installed, connected a new water line from the reservoir to the BluMat carrot and turned the water pressure on. --- Nothing happened. Removed the calibration cap (using the included wrench) to find that the line was dry-pinched shut. --- Un-pinched the drip line and the water started to flow. Placed the tension cap back on making sure to tightened it back to the preset mark (blue for less than 10psi). --- Once everything was fully installed, covered the BluMat soil sensor with the included cap. --- Will let the drip tape fill up and will check back later. - [16:43]: Installed new the Ecowitt soil sensors for the front right pot. --- Added fresh batteries and connected each unit to the WittBoy hub. - [21:04]: Updated the Ecowitt sensor IDs and names: ------------------ [ 4x4 MAIN TENT ] --------------- ------ [CH01 FRT » G30 - Pheno #1] ------ [CH02 FRB » G30 - Pheno #1] ------ [CH03 FLT » G30 - Pheno #2] ------ [CH04 FLB » G30 - Pheno #2] ------ [CH05 BLT » G30 - Pheno #3] ------ [CH06 BLB » G30 - Pheno #3] ------------------ [ 3x3 VEG TENT ] ---------------- ------ [CH07 VBL » GR7 - TKO] ------ [CH08 VBR » GR7 - Gorilla Goat #1] ------ [CH09 VFL » GR7 - Heady OG BX1 #1] ------ [CH10 VFR » GR7 - Garlic Budder OG#1] --- Also updated each water trigger condition for the WittFlow valves to correspond to the appropriate soil sensor channels. --- Done for now! Not much to do now but wait for more soil. --- This will also push seed germination back by a week (Oops). --- Well, keep going, keep growing. - [22:22]: Checked on the BluMat system. --- The drip tape loop has fully inflated with water and can see tiny beads of water dripping onto the top soil. Nice! --- Checked the BluMat soil sensor. ------ Soil Moisture: 38 mbars --- From what I understand, this means the soil is quite moist. I think. --- Will check to make sure the system does not flood. --- Anyways! - [22:25]: Night check on the 3x3 veg tent. --- Looking bushy in the veg garden! --- Moms all look great for the most part. TKO still seems to be purpling up a bit, but the rest look green and healthy. --- Clones and explants look good too! --- Heady OG explant 01 look a bit yellow, but no signs of contamination. Explant 02 looks a lot healthier and can start to see new growth starting to form. Nice! --- The original Garlic Budder #2 clone needs watering. - [22:35]: Here is the starting initial watering range: ------ Garlic Budder OG#2 » 256.4g → 300.2g and was last watered 4 days ago. --------- General Solo Range: [Dry] «| [Initial Cup Weight] + ~55-100g |» [Wet] --- Took the starting weight before watering, ------ Garlic Budder OG#2 » 269.8g --- While on a scale, --- Gently misted her straw mulch with RO water. --- Tried to keep the top growth dry. --- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again. --- Made sure to reference the watering weights. --- Repeated this process until the cup weighted at least 300g. --- There was no runoff. - [22:54]: Took the saturated weight after watering, ------ Garlic Budder OG#2 » 365.7g --- Defoliated a few of the lower leaves. --- Marked the watering date on the side of the cup. Also marked the saturated weight on the back. --- Placed her back into the tent. - [23:06]: Quickly checked on the auto-watering system. --- System is still charged and connected with no issues detected. - [23:12]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Tanks are still full and no leaks found. Day 03 - Wednesday - 10/29/25 - Total Days: -007 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages ~[+01:00] - Temps: 80.3°F [26.8°C] - Humidity: 72.0% - VPD: 0.98 kPa - Soil %: [42, 36, 45, 43, 44, 49, 47, 50, 45, 45] ----------------------------------- - [13:02]: Oops, noticed that the sensor IDs for the two main pots are in the opposite pots! --- Updated the Ecowitt app with the proper ID numbers. - [+00:18]: Night check on the 4x4 tent. --- The main tent is looking great for the most part! --- Had a small flooding due to the mixed sensor IDs (damnit Ensign), but the pots look good. - [+00:23]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: ------------------ [ 4x4 MAIN TENT ] --------------- ------ 48% - [CH01 FRT » G30 - Pheno #1] ------ 42% - [CH02 FRB » G30 - Pheno #1] ------ 57% - [CH03 FLT » G30 - Pheno #2] ------ 58% - [CH04 FLB » G30 - Pheno #2] ------ 48% - [CH05 BLT » G30 - Pheno #3] ------ 52% - [CH06 BLB » G30 - Pheno #3] ------------------ [ 3x3 VEG TENT ] ---------------- ------ 42% - [CH07 VBL » GR7 - TKO] ------ 43% - [CH08 VBR » GR7 - Gorilla Goat #1] ------ 46% - [CH09 VFL » GR7 - Heady OG BX1 #1] ------ 44% - [CH10 VFR » GR7 - Garlic Budder OG#1] --------- Veg: 38% - 45% | Flower: 45% - 55% --------- General: 30% [Dry] «| 45 - 60% [Moist] |» 70% [Wet] - [+00:31]: Checked the 3x3 veg tent. --- Veg garden is raging with growth! --- Most of the mothers are looking great! Let’s go! - [21:37]: Checked on the 4x4 tent. --- Pots look good no signs of flooding. Great! --- Starting with the pots on the left, removed the top soil sensors and pushed the deep soil sensor further into the soil (about 7-8 inches below the soil). Also set the drip rings aside. --- Gave the top soil a quick mix before pouring a bag of fresh BAS 3.0 potting soil into each pot. Glad that there were still a few worms in the pots and the soil moisture felt hydrated and moist. --- Smoothed the soil out and placed an empty solo cup into the center. Have the bottom of the cup completely cut out for easy drainage. --- Once the cup was in place, added the soil sensors and drip rings back. --- Applied a similar process for the front right pot (with the BluMat watering system). - [22:04]: Alright! All 3 pots are now full and looking incredible! --- An additional bag of soil for each pot was perfect! --- Each 30-gallon Grassroots fabric pot is full to capacity and the watering systems are dialed in (for the most part). --- Still checking the BluMat carrots to make sure the system does not flood. - [22:25]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: ------------------ [ 4x4 MAIN TENT ] --------------- ------ 33% - [CH01 FRT » G30 - Pheno #1] ------ 53% - [CH02 FRB » G30 - Pheno #1] ------ 32% - [CH03 FLT » G30 - Pheno #2] ------ 57% - [CH04 FLB » G30 - Pheno #2] ------ 35% - [CH05 BLT » G30 - Pheno #3] ------ 55% - [CH06 BLB » G30 - Pheno #3] ------------------ [ 3x3 VEG TENT ] ---------------- ------ 44% - [CH07 VBL » GR7 - TKO] ------ 44% - [CH08 VBR » GR7 - Gorilla Goat #1] ------ 44% - [CH09 VFL » GR7 - Heady OG BX1 #1] ------ 48% - [CH10 VFR » GR7 - Garlic Budder OG#1] --------- Veg: 38% - 45% | Flower: 45% - 55% --------- General: 30% [Dry] «| 45 - 60% [Moist] |» 70% [Wet] - [22:33]: Checked the 3x3 veg tent. --- Veg garden is recovering nicely and growth is still looking healthy! --- Glad that the TKO mother’s new growth is getting greener and the purpling has seemed to have stopped. --- Clones and explants in the tray look good as well! --- The Heady OG explant Pod#1 is looking more lime green. Pretty sure she is not going to make it. The yellow ring of growth getting larger. Pod#2 is still looking good with noticeable growth! She’s a bit yellow in the leaves, but there is new growth clusters which look green! - [22:40]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Tanks are still full and no leaks found.
