Taking another crack at DWC! This time with Hydroguard rather than sterile. Checking PH twice a day. Things will not go wrong this time! Unless they do. :-D
Week 2 - Going far better than the first time out! She's growing and she's green. PH has been managed, and no signs of cyanobacteria/sludge! First video is day 13 - The fun part of this grow is being able to show everyone what her guts look like.
Week 3 - Day 15 - She's still looking good, and starting to take off! PHing a little every day and watching her water carefully for signs of algae/cyanobacteria. Things are still looking good, so I think I may have this DWC thing under *some* sort control.
Day 22 - She's doing okay! Had a minor PH issue the other day due to a cheap meter, which has been replaced. Her bottom first fan leaves are a tiny bit brown as a result. Her roots are clean and nice looking, thanks to the Hydroguard. She seems to be doing all around very well. Definitely have to check and adjust PH daily to keep her under control, however.
Day 26 - So I moved her to a new, non-visible home. Not because of any failure of the visible setup, but because at one gallon, it was just plain too small. She was going through water so quickly that I was having to redo her whole tank every two days. Was becoming too much maintenance. If I can put together a three gallon clear setup I will move her over to it. That is the plan at least. If not, she'll be a bucket girl. She's doing well and thriving, so everything is cool on that front.
Day 29 - As we enter week five, I've had to make some drastic adjustments to the grow, with regard to placement. Unfortunately the Glue Gelato Auto is not Auto-Ing at day 49 and had to be moved out from under the net, because she was crowding everyone out.
As a result, I moved her into a tent, on her own, under the blurple that this girl was under. On the plus side this girl gets to go under a ChilLed 100w puck, which will make things MUCH better for her. :-D
Day 33 - A huge burst of growth in the last couple days! It looks like I need to switch her reservoir every four or five days to keep her in a constant state of feed. I check PH twice a day and adjust as needed. Seems to be working.
Day 35 - End of week five! The first attempt at DWC was such a disaster that this time out it's been pretty much non-stop anxiety, but she seems to be doing very well. Seems like I need to redo her reservoir every four days.
Day 36 - Week six! The last few days have come with a burst of growth. The fear of a DWC grow failing is always hovering over me but she's past the point where problems will take her out quickly. She seems to need more food every four days or so. That plus twice daily PH checks and adjustments makes her a fairly low maintenance grow. I'm no longer worried that she's going to up and die, and I'm considering just having one DWC running with every grow to get used to the process.
Day 42 - End of the week! This week she quadrupled in size and doesn't look like she's ready to stop yet. Keeping her PH at 5.8ish and refilling her bucket every three or four days is all she seems to need to thrive, apart from lights.
Day 43 - We're into a new week and she's looking great! She seemed to have gotten started a little later than I would have expected but she's turning into a giant. Preflowers are here, and she grew almost ten inches in the last week.
Day 50 - Into week eight! This girl looks like she's gonna be BIG. Flowering has begun but she isn't at full pompom yet. I'm been using one teaspoon of Maxigrow per gallon with her nutes, but now I'm doing 3 teaspoons Maxigro, one teaspoon Maxibloom. At the next reservoir change I'll go 50/50, then 25/75 etc until we're at 100% Maxibloom.
Day 56 - Been slower to transition her to Maxibloom than I had planned over the week. She didn't like that first dose very much and got some minor burn on the tips of her lower leaves, so I've been refreshing her with just Maxigrow. She's drinking about a gallon of water a day. Went back to a little Maxibloom today to see how she handles it a week later.
Day 57 - She's still looking great! I semi-lollipopped her yesterday, removing a bunch of her lower mass. She took it in stride. Putting Maxibloom back into her feed at this point. Just a bit.
Day 62 - Gave her a haircut. Heavy defoliation. She looks like she's growing huge colas so I want to be sure they get enough light. :-D
Day 64 - Missed yesterday's update. Sorry about that. New week! Defoliated a couple days ago. Seems to have done exactly what I hoped for. She is crawling with nice exposed pompoms and seems to be bulking out.
Day 70 - End of week 10! As other plants in the grow finished off I grabbed a free 100w puck and threw her down in front of this girl, to hit her in the undies. Fill her out down below so to speak. She's got huge colas developing and I want to get as much out of her as possible.
Day 72 - Missed yesterday. Welcome to week eleven! She's getting super thick and I'm doing everything I can, daily, to get light to her colas. I threw a 100w ChilLed puck down low, pointing up, and rotating her 180 degrees each day to maximize light to her lower bulk. Seems to be working.
Day 77 - End of week Eleven! Still looks like a couple weeks but she's a monster!
Day 78 - Week twelve begins! She's gotten sensitive to light and is slightly foxtailing. I moved the light up as far as I can and am hoping this cuts that short. There hasn't been a heat issue so it must be light stress.
Day 85 - We're into a new week! She's still got a way to go yet, but she's putting on mass like no other plant I've grown. Her colas, as you can see in one of the pics from last week, are bigger than gallon jugs. The whole plant is top heavy and I have to be extra careful when pulling her lid to the side to feed her. Her mass is getting wider as well, from the sheer weight of her colas. She's drinking about a gallon a day and showing no signs of letting up.
Day 91 - End of week 13! - She's not done yet, but getting there. Upkeep is pretty much just dumping a gallon of new feed into her every two days or so. I'm pretty excited to see what her yield is at this point, because lifting her out to refill her actually take a bit of muscling.
Day 92 - Another week! I'm gonna guess she still has two or so to go. She just keeps chunking up and stinking up the room. Still taking in about a gallon of water a day. Her top leaves a *Just* starting to fade.
Day 98 - We are at the end of week 14! I think sh's gonna be done before the end of next week. We'll see. :-D
Day 99 - Week 15! - So close! Waiting is becoming the hardest part at this point. Out of the grow, there are only two girls left, and both of them are taking FOREVER. :-D
Day 105 - So This is the end of week 15! I have a very strong feeling that she isn't going to finish out the week in one piece. :-D
Day 106 - CHOP DAY. This girl was amazingly huge and fun to grow. Giant piles of buds came out of her. She's not dry yet so I can't tell you what her weight is, but I'll update the harvest as soon and she's dried and weighed.
She's easily going to push over 12 ounces, however. Of this I have no doubt.
Update! - Well that was unexpected! 322.19 grams, dry! 11.5 ounces! She filled up 14 quart mason jars! Dear Me from a week ago - Yes. She pushed 12 ounces.
