Commander_Keen ... started a Humboldt-Only run.
The seeds went into a glass of water for 4 hours today. Then planted in unfertilized substrate. The germination rates are now random and will be adjusted after a week.
The plan is to work in both a large and a small tent. In the last run, nothing germinated from the first 3-pack of Garlic Budder. Here is now the first seed from another 3-pack of the same order. I hope to have more luck this time; the strain seems interesting to me.
I originally didn't have the Notorious THC on my radar, it came as compensation for the three Garlic Budder duds.

The Apple Blossom is a freebie; I have no idea what to expect. I once had an Apple Fritter that was good, so if the Apple Blossom goes in the same direction, I'm good with that.
And then there's a Humboldt classic, a Blueberry Muffin.

Nice gift, last night the Blueberry Muffin was the first to storm to the surface again. Just like in the last run... This morning, the Notorious THC and Apple Blossom had also germinated. I can see the soil lifting with the Garlic Budder, so it seems all have germinated within 3 days.

Does anyone have experience and a recommendation for me regarding the paper pots, should I leave them in and fully transplant since they decompose? Or is it better to carefully remove them before transplanting? Keep in mind I have very loose substrate; it's slightly pressed down but not firm. Last time I took them out of the pots, but almost crumbled the entire substrate ball.
Currently, I would score them lightly, make small cuts to help the roots spread, but I don't want to remove them completely.

The Garlic Budder is here too. I'm very happy, especially after three of them didn't work out in the previous run. Now they have germinated directly.
The Blueberry Muffin is going full throttle just like in the last round; it has grown to the LED strip in the lid of the propagation box within a day.
I have now set up the 40x40 tent and hung a Sanlight Stixx 50 for the start. It shows very nice lighting in the box.
Since it's a bit cooler in the room, I'm running the light directly at 40%, trying to keep some temperature in the box and measuring just over 100uMol at the plants. I'll start with this until the first serrated leaves appear.

What would be the general recommendation on how to handle repotting with the paper pots? Should I take the seedlings out or transplant the paper pot as well? I tend to go with the latter and make some cuts in the pots. The substrate is very loose and tends to crumble.

As long as the roots aren't damaged, I would remove the pot. If the roots are already slightly rooted in, then it stays on. I would make sure to repot early.

Plant the entire paper pot with the seedling, they are designed to break down and let the roots through.........although in my experience, this does not happen as easily as the makers of the pots leads you to believe...........due to this I will never use them again as it takes far too long for the roots to get through, which can slow growth, and they need to be constantly wet for it to happen, something that is not a good idea when it comes to growing cannabis.
You are far better to use plastic pots and transplant carefully in the future.

Commander_Keen The ladies are thriving. The Notorious THC was missing a cotyledon at the start, but that didn't hinder the formation of the first serrated leaves.
With the first serrated leaves, I increased the dimmer level and am running the 50 Stixx at 40%, with the distance set so that we're at 220uMol. Now slowly ramping up to 300, and that should be enough for the second week.
So, things are progressing. They were repotted into 1L Airports, which I find great for the phase after germination until potting into the final pot... well, I was missing one, so I had to use whatever was on hand... I guess it's maybe a 2L pot? Whatever, it still fits well in the 10L final pot. It just needs to root well in the pot; otherwise, the root ball will fall apart later. That would be quite a delay...
Update 1.1.
Oh dear, the setup details had the parts from the setup of the big tent. Since that's still occupied and I don't need that much space for pre-growing, everything is currently in a 40x40 tent.
Since I got a Stixx 50 and my best grow buddy always grows in 40x40 tents, I want to try that with a lady this time.
The Blueberry Muffin will stay here and enjoy some exclusive treatment 🤓
The others will continue later in the 120x60 tent; I'll start a separate report for that, otherwise it will get too confusing.

Commander_Keen It's day 20 of the vegetative phase. The past few days have been eventful.
First, the 40x40 tent was a bit too small. All the ladies moved into the big tent. Shortly after that, repotting into the final pots was on the agenda yesterday. I mixed my beloved HP Pro-Mix with Plagron Grow and solid fertilizer from Green-House Feeding. After the last run with 2.5g/L in the 10L pots, where nitrogen deficiency was visibly apparent at around 75cm final height of the plants, I'm now aiming for a dosage towards the upper limit of the dosage. This time, there's less pre-fertilized Plagron soil included.
And as a cherry on top, I was able to hang up my new light. With an EVO 4-120, I can now manage without additional lighting.
In the near future, the Blueberry Muffin, which is intentionally only in a 7L pot, will move into the 40x40 tent. I'm curious about the comparison to the previous run in the big tent.
I'm giving the ladies a few more days, and then they'll be topped.

The compact Blueberry Muffin has moved into the small tent with the Stixx light. The other three in the big tent are now standing a bit freer. Additionally, I've set up a net to push the somewhat large leaves to the side and give the shoots underneath more light. To provide more light, the light is now running at 50%, which results in about 500 uMol at the canopy level given the distance. The Blueberry Muffin is getting the same intensity.
This time, I obviously mixed a bit too much fertilizer. Garlic Budder and Apple Blossom have some light tips here and there. It's not pretty, but at this stage, it's not a problem yet. I later realized I made a mistake; I estimate I'm more around 5g/L of soil or slightly above for the fertilizer dosage. The Blueberry Muffin should be spared from this, and the Notorious THC might be too. The other two definitely got a bit more.
Well, let's wait and sip some tea. 😆
Edit 26.01.
The leaf problems with the Garlic Budder and the Apple Blossom are worsening. What I initially thought was a slight over-fertilization must be something else, I think. The entire leaf edges are turning light green, and the tips aren't really burning. Annoying!
Edit 29.01.
The ladies are looking better again. The cause of the yellow leaf tips and edges could have been a shift in pH due to too much Silic Rock. There are no typical signs of burning, and since I've only been watering for the last 4 days, the progression has stopped; the leaves are stretching normally and healthily towards the light again.
Tomorrow, flowering will begin.
The Blueberry Muffin in the small tent is doing well; it's not stretching too much but is a nice little compact bush, just right for the 40x40 tent. I removed two large leaves from the middle; I think you need to defoliate a bit more in such small tents.

It's growing nicely, so much that some parts were too shaded and got lightly defoliated. That wasn't the plan, but it had to be done, especially since the humidity is currently consistently at the upper limit, reaching nearly 70% at times. I turned the lights up to 80%, increased the exhaust, and now I still have good temperatures with higher airflow, which brings the humidity into a calmer range of under 65.
The Notorious all the way to the left in the tent has an interesting "valley." After topping, it spread out nicely, so I hardly had to bend anything with the net. The Apple Blossom did the same. In stark contrast is the Garlic Budder. That's a really sturdy plant with some huge leaves and side branches that have all grown a bit too compact upwards. Working with the net made the most sense there.
I also had to remove some leaves from the Blueberry in the small tent, but it's doing great. The pheno seems to be one of the compact varieties. Or maybe the tent and the smaller 7L pot trigger this appearance.

Commander_Keen Tag 17 since the start of the time change. The stretch isn't finished yet, but it looks pretty good already. Some shoots will have potential. Tomorrow I'll add 2g of Bloom Topdress. The first mix at the start of flowering was 3g/L. I'm expecting 9-10 weeks for flowering.
The magnesium deficiency in the Notorious THC seems to have stopped. I gave Epsom salt at 0.5g/L.
Silic Rock hasn't been in the mix for a while. I need to pay more attention to the pH level, so I'm pausing that for this run.
What's remarkable about the Garlic Budder is that trichomes are appearing right away. Plus, this interesting purple color.
I have no idea about taking cuttings, but I'm considering trying it. By the end of the week, everything will be heavily defoliated anyway.
Is the question what to use for lighting the cuttings? A Q1W is still available...

The last few days, it seems the stretch rally has slowed down. That's a good thing. The Notorious is 95cm tall, the Apple Blossom 90, and the Garlic Budder 83 cm.
Now is the right time to do a light defoliation again. Everything is still very dense.
I probably did too...had only 7 hours of light on for two days, as I accidentally noticed. I programmed a daily schedule with the Bluetooth dimmer and made a mistake. You don't work with times in the app but with durations or moments after switching on. Very important.
Additionally, the stem of the Garlic Budder is slightly split at the topping point. 😲 It's secured and should be okay, maybe even good and give the plant another boost. It happened accidentally while handling the plant.
The branches and stems of the Garlic Budder are really crunchy and very juicy. Be careful when bending.☝️

The Garlic Budder with its dark buds gives off a really spicy scent. I can't quite describe it.
The Blueberry Muffin does what a Blueberry Muffin always does, it smells hardcore like ripe fruit salad with berry aroma when you rub the trichomes.
I’m currently maintaining a borderline high VPD of 1.7-1.8.
I suspect that’s why the old large fan leaves look so worn out and the upper ones have drawn too many nutrients. 0.2g/L of Epsom salt is the only thing that’s a constant in the watering. Otherwise, I let the Green-House Feeding fertilizer do its job. Overall, this run isn’t going as smoothly as the last one. Also due to way too much absence from business trips.
Well, let’s wait for the results. 🙂

Commander_Keen I can only report on the behavior up to week 4 of flowering, until the pollen sacs burst. Up until then, the growth was very good..she responded well to topping and formed some nice shoots at an even height..in the middle, there was practically a sea of flowering shoots. I will try again.

Commander_Keen Flowering Day 56. It's been another week of business trips behind me and the ladies. The Blueberry Muffin has developed an extremely sweet candy-like fruit flavor. In terms of smell and trichome coverage, the Blueberry Muffin is really delivering well. There are already scattered amber trichomes to be found almost everywhere.
Now let's talk about the Garlic Budder.. Well, unfortunately, it looks wild. The leaves are partially really dried out.. or overly salty deluxe, I'm not sure. The initial problem with the pH drift when using the enhancer is clearly visible, I fear. I need to pay attention to that next time.
The buds themselves smell strongly spicy, a bit sharp. Totally interesting. Also noteworthy is the nature of the sugar leaves and trichomes. Everything is quite leathery, not really sticky at all. It will take a few more days; the Garlic Budder is just starting to turn milky, and amber trichomes are still not visible.
All in all, a completely different run with a hell of a lot of my absence during the flowering stage.

Day 64 of flowering. The trichomes are a good portion amber. It's time for the harvest. This phenotype looks identical to the one from the last run. The terpenes are different, though. This phenotype has a strong sweet fruit candy smell leaning towards fruit salad with forest berries. The berry aroma isn't in the foreground, not like the last run. That was forest berry hardcore deluxe.
But whatever, I'm excited for the taste and the effect. I'll update in about 6 weeks. The trichomes are on average 25% amber.

Commander_Keen Day 64 of flowering. And again a surprise that made me consider when to harvest. In the pot holes at the bottom, there was a white moldy layer on the substrate. I immediately thought of root rot and harvested. And indeed, it was just as it turned out. Some roots were brownish and some root areas were already slightly orange-brown. It didn't smell yet. I think the plants wouldn't have developed much further with the increasing risk of the place having problems.
The Blueberry Muffin is already done. I see enough amber trichomes. It fits again. If you take the breeder's info and add 1-2 weeks, you're at a realistic harvest time. It's as if the breeder starts counting the flowering time when the characteristics of a flowering phase become clearly visible. Which is estimated to always be 1-2 weeks after the time change.
The Garlic Budder in the upper part is already quite ready; I see amber trichomes. However, max 5-10%. Overall, the plant still lacks the maturity of another 1-2 weeks for my taste. Otherwise, the resin density is already good. We'll see how it looks after curing. The smell is top-notch. Distinctly spicy... hard to describe.

Day 64 of flowering. It's a bit early, but due to suspected root rot, I would harvest... and because the Blueberry Muffin is completely ready. It smells amazing, very spicy and unusual for me. I'm curious about the taste. The trichomes feel somehow "sturdier"; when I rub the sugar leaves, it feels like I'm feeling bumps and the leaf feels slightly leathery.

@Commander_Keen, thanks, I think PC fans are a great alternative. Unfortunately, Noctua has declined in quality: some fans are rattling or the bearings are making noise. So definitely check them carefully and possibly return them. In my experience, this affects all batches from 2025 (I've had about 30 fans here for testing).

This is what would be considered a “true” hermaphrodite…
I’m not sure what you did with it but I have had experience with removing all of the male parts and continue flowering with successful results, after you remove them (usually only on the bottom 3rd) no more will grow.
Worst thing is you may end up with a few seeds. Not many at all

@PharmaZ, well I removed them. But the remaining garlic budder has a seed here and there as well. Although it smell fine, got amber trichs. But it kicks somehow strange. Not sure if I smoke it... Do You have experience with cultivating seeds from these accidents?

Seems to be a reliable and stable strain so far. How stable it really is will be seen after the next runs. A Blueberry Muffin will be onboard the next few runs all the time.
