InsideTheTent I'm finally back with my next grow which took longer than I had anticipated. I spent the last month to reinstall my Twitch streaming setup, so it can run 24/7 from a tiny PC in the corner. After that was done I realized I don't have much time left before my next vacation, so I decided to grow some leftover automatic seeds I had laying around. The Zamnesia Girl Scout Cookies are the same I was growing and loving in my first diary. The RQS Milky Way F1 are also automatics that I got for free with a previous order. So this is my first time trying out a F1 hybrid! For the drying process I got DryFerm bags this time, so that's another thing I'm trying out this time. Everything else is the same as before, so I hope the run will go smoothly 👍

InsideTheTent The Milky Way F1 sprouted last Saturday, after 2 days in the peat pellet, and the one GSC followed on Sunday after 3 days. Last Wednesday I potted the pellets into their final pot, since these are automatics and won't get the repot treatment. The first set of photos is from that Wednesday. The last set of photos if from today, after an additional 4 days. My apartment is way to dry since it's in the middle of winter, but I'm ignoring that for now. I don't feel like buying an air humidifier right since I just bought a dehumidifier 😅 You can still tell that the Milky Way had a head start. Let's see how they both develop. Up to this point everything seems to be pleasantly boring!

InsideTheTent They are finally bulking up! So far there is not much to say. It's still too dry in my apartment, they don't like that. That one early leave of the Milky Way looks a bit messy. But since the newer ones look fine, I don't mind that too much. I probably should have started feeing proper fertilizer 1 or 2 days earlier. Let's hope the grow continues well.

InsideTheTent Both plants are growing well. They are both very small and dense, so I had to defoliate them a bit earlier than expected. On the close-up photos you can see that I'm doing some simple LST to give them a bit more air to breath. I still have some nutrient deficiencies based on the small brown spots on some leaves, but not enough to make me worry.

InsideTheTent The plants haven't started to flower yet, but I guess it's about time. The Milky Way stays super compact, so i had to put it on pedestal to fix the distance to the light. Both plants are growing super bushy, so I have to keep them properly defoliated. In the coming week I'll also start to use a trellis net, to tame them some more. And I think all brown spots have grown out by now, both plants look super healthy for now. GSC: 34cm (34cm distance to light) Milky Way: 26cm (42cm distance to light)

InsideTheTent The GSC absolutely exploded once it started flowering and stretched like crazy, resulting in an super uneven canopy. I've put the Milky Way on a taller pedestal to even it out a bit. I've also installed the trellis netting to tame the GSC, so the Milky Way won't get starved of light. This also included some basic lollipopping on both plants. I hope the Milky Way will stretch a bit more soon, she's way too dense, even after removing half of the plant mass. GSC: 62cm (18cm distance to light) Milky Way: 31cm (39cm distance to light)

InsideTheTent The Girl Scout Cookies was stretching even more during the second week of flower. It's almost 80cm and the tallest automatic I've ever grown. And I'm totally not happy about it, the canopy is super uneven. Right now I'm more or less burning the top bud with a super short distance to the lamp, but at least the other buds are getting decent light too. Last week I forgot to water the plants for 2 days, which wasn't a problem for the Milky Way, but the GSC in the middle of her marathon stretch, got a few yellowy leaves with brown spots. But after treating her well for a few days I'm sure, that those are just normal deficiencies since I she did not get enough fertilizer. Sadly it did not stop her at all from stretching even more 😅 The Milky Way is growing slowly and reached 40cm which isn't that small either. It's still super dense but with a lot of defoliation and aggressive use of the trellis net, I hope I can avoid mold. GSC: 79cm (15cm distance to light) Milky Way: 40cm (40cm distance to light)

InsideTheTent My vacation is over and the GSC suffered 😅 The watering system worked quite well, it just wasn't enough for the big one. But both plants survived, that was the goal! I've added my moisture readings so you can see, what went wrong. Since I'm using organic fertilizer I wasn't able to add it to the watering system, otherwise i was afraid the pipes will clog. But a whole week without fertilizer was not for my my plants. The GSC suffered a lot, it' super yellow and had some bad brown spots. I've added some extra fertilizer as soon as i came back home and trimmed the worse leaves. So let's hope they will recover well. But I've learned a lot, so I can tackle automated watering again in the future, hopefully with even more success. GSC: 79cm (22cm distance to light) Milky Way: 44cm (45cm distance to light)

InsideTheTent The GSC still hasn't forgiven me for last week but I think she will do fine enough. Yellow is the new green. Both plants are starting to fatten up the buds, so i lollypopped them a few days ago. The Milky Way is still comparatively tiny, but I'm curious how much the difference in yield will actually be - she's definitely denser. Let's just hope the next few weeks go well and the result will be tasty :D GSC: 79cm (22cm distance to light) Milky Way: 45cm (44cm distance to light)

InsideTheTent Nothing unusual this week. I'm just waiting for the buds to ripen, hoping for a nice harvest. Soon it's time to to test the DryFerm Bags! Next run I'm trying out the organic fertilizer line by Plagron. I also got a new air humidifier by AC Infinity, so I can dry more gently and can counter the dry air next winter. Buying toys is way too much fun 💀 GSC: 79cm (22cm distance to light) Milky Way: 45cm (44cm distance to light)

InsideTheTent The final week has finally arrived! So I've watered them with just water - to prepare them for harvest. With 11 weeks the Milky Way is on point with the breeder saying it takes roughly 10-11 weeks. The GSC is a little bit on the late side (which you can see, there is a lot of amber 😅), since the breeder is saying it takes roughly 9-10 weeks. But I wanted to give the Milky Way a chance to ripen a bit more. Since I have only this one tent, I prefer to harvest all plants at the same time, so I can convert the tent into drying mode. InsideTheTent This phenotype was stretching so much more than the last one I had which was not optimal with a second plant in the tent. This makes me considering to top my autos too, even though most people seem to say you shouldn't. The last grow was so much more even. But the result is amazing, one of the most productive harvests yet!

Super small and dense - well at least this phenotype. The buds do look nice and I really like the citrusy smell - but the yield was just disappointing.

InsideTheTent This phenotype stayed super small - too small. The buds do look nice and I really like the citrusy smell - but the yield was just disappointing. The plant did suffer a little lack of light since the other plant in the tent was so much taller, but I was still expecting a bit more. I just hope the flavor will make it worth it. But it's always nice to try out a new strain so I'm hyped!

Milky Way F1 and Girl Scout Cookies autos look like they're doing well so far in your 2x2 tent. The head start on Milky Way is clear and week 2 bulking is looking good. Dry apartment conditions can be rough but you're managing it well. Maybe try TSP autos next time since they work well indoors and have good beginner-friendly options.

@divergentcrypt Thanks for the comment! I've grown the same GSC strain last year and it wasn't stretching that much, I think I just had bad luck with 2 incompatible phenotypes. Both Zamnesia and RQS are usually breeders I'm very happy with. Next time I'll just top them, so they grow more even. It's not best practice for autos but I think it will fix my problem. In the long run I'm planning to get 4x2 with 2 lamps, having 2 or 3 plants in a 2x2 is always a bit limiting, but it works!
the end.
