Transplanted into a 10 gallon cloth pot. Loved the transplant. Today i give first veg nutrients. This is the end of week 2. Hopefully all goes well in week 3. I am developing a problem with some little flying critters so im gonna try fly paper and vinegar traps before i take any further steps

Plant is taking well growth is good and getting better. Going to start vegetation foliar spray this week. Going to add an inch or 2 of coco on top soil. I removed an inch of its pre existing to treat for fungus gnats in early stages.

The age old question.... To defoliate or not to defoliate. And should i wait for 1 more node or top now?

Hi there! You should defoliate if those leafs are clearly blocking bud sights. Early for you to do that. Topping yes good time between 4th and 5th node. Happy growing! Looks good!

Well i guess my last update didnt load. Thats a bummer. But about to flush and do a little more HST. She is very strong and dont skip a beat. I may staircase the lower branches and make some clones. And might lift the light up 6 inches to get her to stretch an inch or 2. Starting a 5 gallon flush of just ph water right now. To lower some of the nitrogen so if she does stress atleast she wont burn. Will post again before i go to bed. Update. AC went out after last update. Temps got way to high. I was gonna take some clones but I will wait cause heat stress. Update #2 Topped, and took off lower nodes and going to see if I get lucky with her. Get some early clones.

Going to focus on an even upper canopy, at the same time get the weaker branches to a good size for cloning. My last 2 are looking good so far. This is a very tough plant. It can take a seriously bad week and walk away with barely a scratch.

Did a little trimming. Topped in a spot or 2. I did some medium strength super cropping. I tied down a few more branches so that the light could get to all of the future clones. I had to add a top layer of Coco and perlite. Thanks to the soil Ballance pro, my root system was showing above ground growth. Very healthy. I may have to top my roots in a week or 2 to prevent it from causing any problems in the future. So I'm going to stop with the soil Ballance pro food for now. Make it shift it's focus to the vegetation.

So I did a little select trim. Also took a clone or 2. Did some "super cropping" but not full on all out bending the stems. I cut her tie downs to let her stretch and play in the wind. I will take alot of clones and defoliate pretty soon. But I want the cuttings to be an inch or 2 longer. Still wondering about some knots I've seen on her. So I will look into that find out what's up.

Completely normal mate. I call them knuckles, it's just where you bend the branches it causes a little bit of damage, becomes far more evident when super cropping. Nothing to worry about.

I took her out of her pot and pruned the roots and cleaned her smart pot. Along with adding new coco and perlite. Root system is so so solid and well developed. Topped her off with an inch and half of perlite on top. We will see how the transplant goes.

I've been super cropping and defoliating pretty hardcore to train her for cloning. Going perfectly. Successful clones so far goin for a few more soon after her rest from root job.

Well after taking a real close look at all her beauty, I spotted a few what look to be pre-flower pistils. Must be from stress. I did go overboard on the trimming. Got some good looking clones though.

She caught what seemed to be a little leaf septoria. So I had to butcher her I didn't take a pic of all I removed because of the severity of the contagion. But with a little TLC she is still alive. And since I seen how weak she was to the virus I've decided to stop taking clones and start making arrangements for a trellis set up. But first I have to make room. And that is a short time coming😉

Hey there defoliate to get the light deep into the canopy so it hits the (future) flower nodes - the plant will "think" it's grown enough and have more lateral growth. Ultimately that's what you're after with defoliation, remember for the plant defoliation is HST ! hope I answered your question, anything else you need just shoot me a message 👊

Veg phase is all about getting her healthy and trained how you want for flower. Chop her up and see how she responds haha! The more you cut, the longer recovery time. She looks very healthy so i dont expect your girl to miss a beat. Good luck!!🍀💪

Hi @Coldkey! Defoliation is awesome when done correctly, but it could be a nightmare if done too much or at the wrong time. Before removing a leaf, I always ask myself: is this leaf really blocking the light? For how many nodes / bud sites? How close are the next leaves? How healthy is this leaf? You should make your own experiments and see how it goes. Keep us up-to-date, happy growing! 👊

@Cannibalgardens, some have. I was just wondering what the scientific term was on the nodes. Lol. She has 💪💪 lol. Some did get way bigger and more swole than I thought they would. No silica supplements. So it surprised me.

@LongJohn420 wrote “You should defoliate if those leafs are clearly blocking bud sights” Cannabis female flowers, that is, the calices from which pistils protrude, are not photosensitive. Sugar leaves are, but they are tiny and don’t offer much in the way of photosynthesis. However buds do require room to grow and fresh air, and those are good reasons to defoliate, and even to encourage stretch going into flower. But exposing buds to light to make them grow is a myth! Please don’t perpetuate it. Angle a light sideways to penetrate the canopy. That will do more good than defoliating. You wouldn’t remove solar panels and expect to store more energy, would you? @Coldkey Welcome to photos, as they are highly satisfying to grow. Best wishes for a strong harvest.
