So I did a little select trim. Also took a clone or 2. Did some "super cropping" but not full on all out bending the stems. I cut her tie downs to let her stretch and play in the wind. I will take alot of clones and defoliate pretty soon. But I want the cuttings to be an inch or 2 longer. Still wondering about some knots I've seen on her. So I will look into that find out what's up.

The age old question.... To defoliate or not to defoliate. And should i wait for 1 more node or top now?

Hi there! You should defoliate if those leafs are clearly blocking bud sights. Early for you to do that. Topping yes good time between 4th and 5th node. Happy growing! Looks good!

I've noticed after topping or bending stems. Including just LST she develops these knots. I'm wondering opinions. This is a first I've seen them get this big. I can't figure out how to uploaded a pic right here I will add one to my week that way y'all can get a look

Completely normal mate. I call them knuckles, it's just where you bend the branches it causes a little bit of damage, becomes far more evident when super cropping. Nothing to worry about.

Hey there defoliate to get the light deep into the canopy so it hits the (future) flower nodes - the plant will "think" it's grown enough and have more lateral growth. Ultimately that's what you're after with defoliation, remember for the plant defoliation is HST ! hope I answered your question, anything else you need just shoot me a message 👊

Veg phase is all about getting her healthy and trained how you want for flower. Chop her up and see how she responds haha! The more you cut, the longer recovery time. She looks very healthy so i dont expect your girl to miss a beat. Good luck!!🍀💪

Hi @Coldkey! Defoliation is awesome when done correctly, but it could be a nightmare if done too much or at the wrong time. Before removing a leaf, I always ask myself: is this leaf really blocking the light? For how many nodes / bud sites? How close are the next leaves? How healthy is this leaf? You should make your own experiments and see how it goes. Keep us up-to-date, happy growing! 👊

@Cannibalgardens, some have. I was just wondering what the scientific term was on the nodes. Lol. She has 💪💪 lol. Some did get way bigger and more swole than I thought they would. No silica supplements. So it surprised me.

@LongJohn420 wrote “You should defoliate if those leafs are clearly blocking bud sights” Cannabis female flowers, that is, the calices from which pistils protrude, are not photosensitive. Sugar leaves are, but they are tiny and don’t offer much in the way of photosynthesis. However buds do require room to grow and fresh air, and those are good reasons to defoliate, and even to encourage stretch going into flower. But exposing buds to light to make them grow is a myth! Please don’t perpetuate it. Angle a light sideways to penetrate the canopy. That will do more good than defoliating. You wouldn’t remove solar panels and expect to store more energy, would you? @Coldkey Welcome to photos, as they are highly satisfying to grow. Best wishes for a strong harvest.
