GanjaGecko Week 3 // D15-D21 I actually didn't want to create a diary here since Fruity Pebbles was one of the backup ladies. However, Fruity Pebbles has such incredibly strong growth that it deserves its own diary. I might regret not documenting it later. This will just be a stripped-down diary. Otherwise, I won't be able to stop writing diaries, and unfortunately, there are a few other things to do 😂 After topping on day 19, the little side shoots have really taken off! With this growth, I will definitely pollinate one of the side shoots with pollen from the OceanTruffle when the time comes. With the equally strong growth of the OceanTruffle genetics, the result will hopefully be an incredible growth monster. The substrate mix consists of about 80% BioBizz Lightmix and about 20% coco with perlite (70/30). For the growth phase, there were about 11L of substrate in the pot. The last liter of substrate will be added with the flowering fertilizer when switching the light cycle to 12/12. Additionally, in week 1 for repotting to improve the soil, I added: - 1TL/L Megaworm - 5% BioChar - 2g/L rock dust On the surface, I added nearly 60g of BioGrow from GreenHouseFeeding, which was thoroughly mixed into the substrate. The recommendation is 3-5g per L of substrate. To prevent deficiencies in the later growth phase, I used 5g/L. _____________________________________________ I will skip fertilizing and watering here. GanjaGecko Week 4 // D22-D28 I am incredibly impressed with the growth of the Fruity Pebbles. The side branches and their offshoots are something else. Two branches have received additional topping. My biggest concern with the Fruity Pebbles will be where to put all the branches in two weeks🤣 I think a lot of work still needs to be done with the scrog net, given how aggressive the growth behavior is. GanjaGecko Week 5 // D29-D35 In the middle of the week, two shoots were topped. Additionally, a shoot that already had well-developed side branches was cut and turned into a cutting. Since the Fruity Pebbles shows incredibly good growth during the vegetative stage, it would be a shame if it performs just as fabulously in flowering, has loud terps, and delivers a good yield, and then no cutting was taken. What’s certain is that one shoot of the Fruity Pebbles will definitely be pollinated with the pollen taken from the OceanTruffle. The OceanTruffle had a very similarly strong growth, nicely compact internodes, and thus wonderful stacking. The side branches and their side shoots were just as diligent in growth as with the Fruity Pebbles. So, there’s a high probability that this dreamy growth will be passed on to the next generation. Let’s see how the Fruity Pebbles performs in flowering. This run is particularly exciting due to the crossing. Considering that the Fruity Pebbles was just a backup seed and filler, it’s a real surprise. GanjaGecko Week 6// D36-D42 At the beginning of this week, the first layer of the Scrog net was installed. This serves as a little help to promote and shape the desired canopy. Some of the shoots that are too eager are placed back under the Scrog net. For the shoots that were particularly in a hurry, I used bud clips, while for the other shoots, twisting them and laying them under the net was sufficient. The second layer of the Scrog net will come into the tent around week 2 of flowering to support and evenly distribute the shoots. This week, flowering was also slowly initiated. For this, the light was reduced by 1 hour daily, while the light intensity was slightly increased for each hour taken away. If you only reduce the exposure time without increasing the intensity, the DLI decreases. This signals to the plant anything but that it is about to go into flowering. The slow transition into flowering by reducing the light by one hour each day is intended to prevent the plant from stretching unnecessarily and to keep the nodes closer together. However, this only happens if the light intensity is slightly increased for each hour less. If you don't do this, the DLI drops, and the plant suddenly suffers from a lack of light and may compensate by stretching a bit more to get closer to the light. _____________________________________________ I will skip fertilizing and watering here. GanjaGecko Week 7/1F // D43/1F - D49/7F I can't say it often enough! The growth of the Fruity Pebbles is incredible! So diligent and stable shoots have only been seen with the OceanTruffle before. Every two days, some defoliation had to be done, as it felt like every time the tent was opened, a few shoots were covered by leaves again. Otherwise, this bush only needed to be topped once. On day 6 of flowering, the first portion of bloom fertilizer went into the pot with the last layer of substrate. There are now 3g of BioBloom per liter of substrate, and the Batguano as a bloom booster will only be added in the third week of flowering with another 2g of BioBloom per liter of substrate. For the Fruity Pebbles, there was a total of 12L of substrate, 36g of BioBloom (3g/L), 12TL of Megaworm (1TL/L substrate), a bit of Dynomyco mycorrhiza, and some Great White mycorrhiza as well. _____________________________________________ I will skip fertilizing and watering here. GanjaGecko Week 8/2F // D50/8F - D56/14F The Fruity Pebbles is, as already mentioned, a little surprise. It had to endure the most of the 3 ladies in the tent, but the shoots are incredibly strong. In the coming week, two shoots will be selected to be pollinated with the pollen from the OceanTruffle. The lollipopping will also take place in the next few days. On Day 53/11F of this week, the Sanlight EVO 3-60 1.5 was dimmed to 150W. This gives the ladies in the middle 900ppfd and still over 800ppfd in the corners. The second layer of the scrog net was also installed, but this layer is more for organizing the shoots than for LST. This week, the sleep and wake light was also turned on. A Far Red light strip in the 730-745nm range - the Spider Farmer SUPP-IR 16. This turns on 13 minutes before the Sanlight comes on and goes off 2 minutes after the main lighting starts, simulating sunrise. Then the Far Red turns back on as a little sleep aid for 15 minutes before the Sanlight goes off and continues for 15 minutes after the Sanlight goes off, simulating sunset. The lighting with Far Red LEDs accelerates the metabolic shift after the light goes out. This allows the ladies to recover better at night and start the new day refreshed. Plants have an absorption spectrum that sees Far Red light as an indicator of the onset of darkness. We can take advantage of this fact with artificial lighting. The so-called phytochromes are responsible for the absorption of Far Red light waves. These are a type of photoreceptor proteins that influence a variety of plant growth processes. Phytochromes control processes such as germination, flowering, and photoperiodism, which is the regulation of the day-night rhythm. Essentially, there are two types or conformations of phytochromes in plants: The Pr-form (r=red) has its absorption maximum at around 660 nm and the Pfr-form (fr=far red) at about 730 nm. What do phytochromes have to do with plant lights? Quite simply: By using the Far Red spectrum, relevant processes such as photoperiodism can be specifically influenced to optimize nighttime recovery and thus photosynthesis, leading to better yield results. If the low-energy Far Red radiation stays on in the evening for about 10 to 15 minutes longer than the regular light, it acts as a "sleep initiator." Plants switch to their natural sleep mode more quickly this way and can use the extra time for recovery. GanjaGecko Week 9/3F // D57/15F - D63/21F The Fruity Pebbles has lost some shoots this week. There were just way too many shoots. I believe the Fruity Pebbles could have filled the tent all by itself in the same time if it were in a slightly larger pot. Unfortunately, the terps are still not very pronounced. But it's only the start of flowering week 3, and there are two very loud Deepwater Cherry in the tent as well. The second part of the flowering nutrients was given. This time, another 20g of BioBloom & 2 teaspoons of BatGuano were added as a flowering booster and some worm humus for a proper dose of micronutrients in the pot.
