Germination
3mo ago
GrowerBaal Since the translation function works quite well here, I’ll lazily write in German from now on.😌 When I ordered Night Owl seeds a few months ago, these were included. Twisted Trees mentions that the strain has supposedly even survived nights with around 5 degrees Celsius. If it performs well indoors, it might be something for next year outdoors. But enough with future fantasies. The seed will be soaked for only 12 to 18 hours before it goes directly into the final pot tomorrow. The soil will again be Plagron Light-Mix, and I still need to think about the fertilization. After filling the 11L fabric pot with Plagron Light Mix, I added about 1L of tap water since the soil was very dry by now. Then I placed a soaked coconut plug in the center of the pot, made a hole about 1 cm deep, and buried the seed. Finally, a plastic dome went over the whole thing. Now it’s time to wait.😴

GrowerBaal Yesterday, when I got home from work around midnight, it had already hatched. I briefly considered helping it with the seed shell, but decided against it due to the risk of damaging the leaf. I left the plastic dome on top. On day 3, I gave it 150 ml of tap water from above. I removed the plastic dome. On the sixth day, it was 4 cm tall. I gave it half a liter of tap water from above. The water was 22.3 degrees Celsius. I think it's doing quite well.

GrowerBaal Day 16 - 10 cm I gave her 2.1 liters of water today with the Plagron dosage of nutrients. I let her suck up 1.1 liters from a bowl and poured one liter on top of the soil. Day 19 - 16 cm She continues to grow normally. I will probably water her tomorrow. Day 20 - 17 cm Today she was watered, receiving 2 liters of water at 24.9 degrees, 6.5 pH, and the Plagron dosage. She got one liter from above and sucked up one liter from the bowl. Since I'm considering trying her outdoors after all, I decided to top her. Before topping, she was 17 cm tall, and afterwards only 13. Day 21 - 14 cm It seems she has taken the topping well for now. She looks pretty good.

GrowerBaal Day 26 - 30 cm In the last week, she has developed well and didn't need much attention. Today she gets 2.8 liters of water with the normal Plagron dose. The solution was at 25.2 degrees, 6.5 pH, and 990 ppm. She received 1.5 liters from a bowl and 1.3 liters from above into the pot. As a precaution, I also put a yellow sticky trap in the pot since I have fungus gnats on another plant. Day 28 - 38 cm She has definitely hit the stretch. 8 cm in two days is quite impressive. Otherwise, she's doing well, and I haven't done anything else.

GrowerBaal Day 29 Today she was 42 cm tall. I watered her today with 3L of solution according to the Plagron plan. The solution had a pH of 6.5, 24.8°C, and 960 ppm. I gave her 2L from the bottom bowl and 1L from the top into the pot. Overall, she is developing well, but I removed a few leaves since the two youngest shoots were overshadowed by the outer ones and hardly received any light. Day 33 Her height today was 59 cm. She has stretched quite a bit lately, and the buds are now clearly visible. Today she received her 3L Plagron mix, now with Alga Bloom according to the feeding chart. The solution had 22 degrees, a pH of 6.7, and 970 ppm. I gave her 2 liters from the bottom bowl and one liter from the top. Additionally, there was a cup with nematode solution. Starting today, she will be in a different tent. It's a 120x60 from Mars Hydro with a 320 Watt FC-4000 Evo and a Prima Klima exhaust. Day 35 Today she finishes her fifth week at 65 cm tall. The soil is still moist, so she wasn't watered.

GrowerBaal Day 51 - 79 cm She is doing well and her buds are growing. Today there was again 2.7l of Plagron mixture. The solution had 6.9 PH, 24.7 degrees, and 1120 ppm today. Day 53 - 79 cm I have now discovered miner fly tunnels on her and other plants. I suspect that I brought them in from outside, perhaps when drying one plant that I did not wash the buds of. Normally, they don't cause much damage, but I don't want them indoors. Therefore, I cut off and disposed of the infested leaves. Additionally, she received her mixture today. 2.8l of a solution with 24.9 degrees, 7.0 PH, and 1100 ppm. Day 55 - 79 cm Today I had to remove a few leaves again, as they were infested with miner fly larvae. 😠 Otherwise, she seems to be doing quite well, the buds are swelling, getting their ripeness, and she is starting to smell sweet. Today she received again 2.7l of her solution with 6.9 PH, 25.7 degrees, and 1130 ppm.

GrowerBaal Day 57 - 79 cm We are now at the beginning of the ninth week and her sweet smell is getting stronger. Today she received 2.8 liters of her mix at 25.4 degrees, 7.0 pH, and 1105 ppm. I didn't have to spot any leaf miner damage today, let's see how it looks in the coming days. Day 59 - 80 cm Today she got her solution again. Since she had a few light leaf tips and I read at Twisted Trees that she prefers less fertilizer, I lowered the concentration to 2/3 of the normal value. The solution ended up having a slightly too high pH of 7.3, which is why I had to use pH-. In the end, she had 24.4 degrees, 6.8 pH, and 870 ppm today. She received 1.6 liters from the bottom and one from the top. Day 61 - 80 cm Her buds are getting heavy and she's starting to lean, which is why I sank a plant stake into the pot and gave two branches more support with wire. I will probably need to support more branches later. Additionally, she received her nutrient solution today with 2/3 of the Plagron plan, she had 6.9 pH, 23.4 degrees, and 880 ppm. 1.8 liters from the bowl and 1 liter from the top onto the soil. Day 63 - 80 cm Today I found a few leaves again with the trails of leaf miners, so I removed some leaves again. I also gave her her solution today with 7.0 pH, 23.1 degrees, and 890 ppm.

GrowerBaal Day 65 - 80 cm The tenth week has started, and we're slowly getting closer to the harvest. I estimate it will need about two more weeks. I've also reduced the feeding to 50% of the plan. From this mix, there were again 2.75 liters today, with 23.5 degrees, 7.0 pH, and 750 ppm. 1.75 liters came from the bowl and one from above. Day 67 - 80 cm Today, she got her solution again with 50% of the recommended fertilizer amount. The mix had 23.2 degrees, 7.0 pH, and 735 ppm. She received one liter from above and 1.5 liters from the bowl. Day 69 - 80 cm She got 2.9 liters of the 50% mix today. It won't be long until the harvest, I think.

GrowerBaal Day 70 - 80 cm She's slowly approaching her end. I suspect I can harvest her within the next two weeks. Today I gave her the mix again with 50% of the nutrients, I'll probably stop the fertilizer completely by the end of the week at the latest. But today, I still gave her 2.4 liters at 24.4 degrees, 7.0 pH, and 770 ppm, as usual, one liter from the top and the rest from the bowl. Day 74 Yesterday I gave her 0.6 liters of a similar mix that was left over from another plant. Today I gave her 2.7 liters of tap water at 22.5 degrees Celsius and added 2 ml of Silic Rock since the humidity is quite high and silicon is supposed to prevent mold. Otherwise, there will be no more fertilization since she will be harvested in the next two weeks. Day 77 From today on, it's just pure tap water; she got 2.8 liters of it. She will be harvested next week since I found a banana on one of the main buds (you can see it well in the last picture) and she's slowly ripening as well.

GrowerBaal Day 80 - 80 cm Yesterday, on day 80, it was time to harvest. The middle side buds had already developed brown trichomes, and I don't really like couch-lock. I cut them down and hung them whole in my drying tent. Now I have to wait about a week, then they'll go into jars untrimmed. I'll trim them over time. The harvest and smoke report will come in a month, or even later, since I've had strains that took that long to fully develop their aroma. This one has definitely become one of the most beautiful autos I've grown so far. After a week of drying and a few days of trimming, I ended up with 142 grams of very sticky medium to large buds on the scale. Impressive. 💪

@GrowerBaal, anyway, I noticed that even if you grow the same plant, the taste can change from one to another. It's like it can take on the aromas of all its descendants. 😂😂

@squalino, That's how it is with seeds, since they aren't 100% identical plants. These are different phenotypes. If you want a consistent flavor, you have to rely on clones.
