Plants, Three Different Ones - including a Seedsman fem photo-period White Widow; a Seedsman fem photo Northern Lights; and BFRD-1, a Barney's Farm fem photo Red Diesel. Got some stretch on NL due to using CFL bulb incorrectly, but now the new girls are under my LED. Very much looking forward to learning more! 6.22 update - decided stretch was too much to try and work past, so I sadly disposed of this batch of seedlings and have started another three beans of same varieties. So looking forward to what NL-2, WW-2, and BFRD-2 will grow into :) 6.27 update - this is already challenging. White Widow seed 2 & 3 failed to pop. WW-4 is in moist paper towel now, fingers crossed. If this one doesn't germinate, I'll probably just focus run on the two seedlings I have now - which are Northern Lights-2 and Barney's Farm Red Diesel-2.

OK, that's more like it! White Widow #4 popped, grew out of Jiffy Pot, and is now happily at home in Solo cup! NL-2 doing well, 2-1/2" tall, 2nd set of leaves starting. BFRD-2 is 2", smaller 2nd set of leaves. I love sharing my space with these little lovely living things!

Great week, seeing my new beauties taking off nicely! Started nutes at 1/2 strength. NL-2 is approx 3-1/2"x7", and BFRD 3"x5". Good healthy color so far. For those keeping track, my WW-4 is a week behind and will be added to the correct week as we proceed. 7.18 - WW-4 update - my widow's curse continues! When watering on 7.16, entire plant fell over! Have propped it up using plant wire and she seems to be recovering. Will probably transfer to 1-gal before next update, will give me the chance to stabilize her.

Week 4 for my girls, but only at Week 2 of Fox Farms feeding schedule. Robust growth for NL-2 and BFRD-2 this week, adjustment to full-strength nutes went off without a hitch. Red Diesel is a bit squatter than the Northern Lights. Color is great deep green. Will let grown another week, then begin the manifold bases. 7/25 added WW-4 photos. Very excited as she is growing great, very tight internodal spacing.

Wow, doing that severe topping was some scary s*&t! I wondered if I killed NL-2 and BFRD-2, but in four (4!) days, they are already recovered and growing strong again! And the main stem got really thick! Going to stay on Fox Farms Feeding Schedule week 4 at full strength until I get to the manifold-topping, round 2. Also misting with Fox Farms FLower's Kiss 2x week. 7.28.19 - Manifold trim to WW-4. Still scary to do, lol! But I know that she will recover, thrive, and produce a delicious crop in a few months!

Week 6 - time to transplant my ladies into their final homes, 2-gallon fabric pots. Using Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil. Watered 3 cups week-4 3/4 strength. Increased light to 18" and will give 8 hours of red and blue over the weekend (along with additional 12 hours of blue; total of 20 hours). BFRD-2 showing a little brown crispiness on bottom leaves. Been watching this for a couple weeks, has not spread. Thinking it might have been a little light burn? Will keep my eyes on this as the grow progresses. 8/8/19 WW-4 week 6 - growing well, will transplant into final 2-gallon pot this weekend. Learned my lesson (see week 7) and won't be so quick to do the final cutting for the manifold. Color looks a little off because I forgot to use my dark background. Nice bushy little plant!

Please look at last picture - there is an area of crispy brown on the lowest leaves of the Red Diesel. I'm thinking it's a little bit of light burn, but am not sure. Any thoughts from any of the experts?

Sorry just found this question. Looks more like a magnesium and potassium deficiency. The solution is to put your plants in larger pots sooner. The pots are limiting the size of the root system. I would skip the solo cups and start them in 1 quart pots yet water them as if they were in solo cups. As often is the case we all as growers te d to overwater on occassion this is actually one of the major causes of deficiencies. Always start a nice wet then dry type watering cycle starting around week 3. You ca also try supplimenting your nutrient routine with a cal/mag product @0.5ml per liter water a bit earlier in your grow to help prep her for bloom when they really start draining cal/mag for bud growth. Lastly older fan leaves are usually the first to fall and are usually removed during the first few weeks of bloom. Hope this helps your future grows.

Rotated 6.5 pH water with 1/2 strength Fox Farms week 4 this week. I think training has gone well. It's amazing that you can help plants adjust like this! They remind me of bonsai, or even those strange Baobab trees from Africa. Next week, plan on increasing % of nutes to 75% strength and see if they accept it. Want them to get to approx. 8"-10" tall before the flip.

Week 8 complete! Will probably flip a week from tomorrow, can't let the girls get too big. Growth was good this week, all plants seem healthy. Increased to full strength Fox Farms week 4 veg., have seen no recurrence of nute burn/lock-out from a few weeks ago. Durnign the next week, will water 2x with 6.5pH water, then will hit with another round of nutes at/after flip.

Finishing week 9 of veg. growth. All strains are right around 8" tall. The Barney's Farm Red Diesel is the widest at 15." Did another light defoliation. Decided I needed to increase the lighting, so today I replaced my OFAAD 1000 watt with a Mars Hydro 1000 watt. Wow, is the Mars light ever bright! I think this will solve my airy bud problem. Flipping to 12/12 tonight. Very excited to see how these ladies progress through the flowering cycle. Stay tuned, it's gonna be a lot of fun!

Flower week 1 is complete, and I'm seeing definite changes in all three of my girls. They each gained about an inch in height (thanks to Mars Hydro 1000 watt light!); new growth is a lighter green where bud sites will be. Defoliated BFRD at flip, but am letting other girls go au natural for another couple of weeks. On Fox Farms Soil Schedule at full strength, keeping things at 6.5 pH.

Week 2 of flowering is complete! All 3 plants have gained about another inch in height. Real bud production has begun, and am already seeing lots of pistals. The White Widow, while the smallest plant, has the most intense smell already Plants are taking in right about 3 cups of water every 4 days. Am still foliar feeding twice a week, and am pleased that there seems to be no negative effects of following Fox Farms schedule at 100% strength.

Like the old song goes - "It's too late to turn back now, I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love!" My girls are doing so well with Flower week 3 completed! Took the pH of the Fox Farms recommended mixture down to 6.41 this week and might get closer to 6.25 or so for the next week. No lock-out or burn. The Red Diesel is the tallest and best developed at this point, followed by the White Widow and my little Northern Lights is about a full 2" shorter. Next report in seven days!

Week 4 of flowering is complete. Excited to see increased trichome production. Red Diesel is filling out nicely. My tiny Northern Lights is looking great - won't get a lot of bud from her, but since this is just for personal use, I'm good with that. Next week, watering with 6.5 pH water. Halfway there :)

Any ideas on what's going on with NL-2? Fan leaves are discoloring, interesting pattern. From Websites, I'm thinking a potassium problem, but am not sure. And am not sure how to correct this close to harvest (3 weeks give or take). Thoughts?

I think it is a magnesium issue, possibly some calcium as well. You are using a lot of P and K especially with The Open Sesame. The other nutrients contain high amounts of phosphorus and potassium as well. Potassium and calcium are two nutrients that can cause magnesium lock-out when added in excess. Excessive Potassium blocks the absorption of calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron. It is a game of ratio's that you must play and when you add 1 thing it effects another. Happy growing! 👊

Flower week 5 complete. Starting to fatten up now. Red Diesel has a musky smell, and the White Widow and Northern Lights are more of a sweet/fruit smell. REALLY strong at this point, running my exhaust fan pretty much constantly now. Switched nutes to Cal-Mag Xtra plus Beastie Bloomz and Cha Ching 1x week, and 6.8pH water 1x week. Still some discoloration on NL-4; BFRD-2 and WW-2 seem OK.

Flower week 7 complete! All three ladies are doing very well - NL-2 is just about done, trichomes are about 30% amber; WW-4 is just a touch behind, maybe 25% amber; and BFRD-2 still has mostly clear trichomes, no amber yet. Both White Widow and Red Diesel are really plumping up! Early this week, I watered with 50% of last week's nutes (see above) and 50% water, now I'm moving on to just pH balanced water to see them through to the finish line. The Northern Lights smells so sweet! The Widow also smells yummy, more of a fruit/berry scent; and the Red Diesel has a definite spicy tang. Now I know how White Widow was named, as it is covered in trichomes! Will watch NL carefully now, as I'm not sure she has another week in her.

Harvested after 51 days. Trichomes were >50% amber. Smell is amazing for sure. Total of 63 grams wet; lost another 10 grams in trim. Really like manifolding, had eight fat (but short) colas at harvest. Taste test - yummy, stoney, goes right to my head and then super-relaxes me. Minimal munchies - but chocolate is delicious! DRIED BUDS UPDATE - ended up with 14 grams dried. SO GOOD! Gonna def. grow more of this next year and try to increase yield as this is a keeper!

Harvested Widow tonight. Flowered in 54 days. Got 73 grams from 8 colas; after trimming, total of 63 grams. Very frosty, really glued-up my trim scissors. Cannot wait to try this, White Widow has been on my bucket-list for years! 2nd successful manifold grow! DRIED BUDS UPDATE - net of 20 solid grams of frosty buds! Very happy with this strain, will definitely grow again someday! Great genetics thanks to Seedsman!

Best grow so far! Buds ended up huge, and so sticky. Actually glistening with trichomes. Smell is rich, earthy and spicy. Cannot wait to try this one. Thanks Barney's Farms and Seedsman as this is my favorite strain to grow so far! Taking a break in November (gotta have some time to enjoy my results) and will be back December 1st with my first try at an auto flower - still deciding between Barney's Farm Purple Punch or Blue Mammoth. Keep on growing!
