HomeToGrow Hey, There's not much to see, but this week we're going straight into the next round. This time, the Lemon Z from Dutch Passion is coming into the tent; I actually wanted to put this strain in the tent in 2024, so I'm catching up now and I'm really excited about the journey and hopefully a lot of Z terps at the end. Both seeds germinated after about 48 hours, but in the end, only one of them will find its way into the tent. I could have waited another day to plant, but since the other variety has already developed significantly longer taproots and I wanted to transplant both at the same time, it happened today.

HomeToGrow Hey, Despite successfully germinating both seeds, only 1 plant ended up growing. The other one seems to have stopped growing after being planted. The Lemon Z looks good and is now forming its 2nd set of leaves, but the growth could be a bit faster. I think this has a lot to do with the weather; right now, it's consistently over 27 °C with a humidity level between 35 and 50%, so it's far from optimal at this early stage. I think growth will pick up in the coming weeks.

HomeToGrow Hey, The 2nd week of flowering is done, and the growth is really picking up now, soon it will be time for the final pot. So far, I'm really liking the Lemon Z, it's growing well and the internode spacing doesn't seem too short or too long, hopefully allowing for good training. The first side branches are also starting to sprout and can be trained soon. You can slightly see a CalMag issue, which is probably due to insufficient buffering when soaking the coconut block. To counteract this, I've now increased the CalMag content, so the problem should be resolved quickly.

HomeToGrow Hello, The remaining Lemon Z is developing just as well as the Tiger Style, but is still about 2 to 3 days behind in its growth. With the Lemon Z, I didn't have to choose between several plants, but I still believe the pheno fits well in the tent, as the internode distances are medium-sized and the side shoots are also growing well. The Lemon Z was transplanted on Tuesday into a 3.5 l pot with Coco/Perlite with a mixture of 85/15 (unfortunately, I ran out of Perlite and due to a vacation, the repotting couldn't wait any longer. 2 days after the vacation and at the end of the 3rd veg week, the Lemon Z was topped and can soon be scrogged to allow for a more even distribution of the shoots. For the top light, the side lighting with the Ionbeam S11 (about 12 W) would also be switched on to illuminate the area more evenly and slightly increase the blue component. I expect a maximum of 2 weeks of veg before it goes into flowering, which hopefully rewards me with good buds.

HomeToGrow Hey, The Lemon Z is growing into a very bushy plant so far and is making a really good impression, even though the growth is a bit slower compared to the other plant, the Lemon is keeping up with the Tiger Style. The internode distances remain medium and the branches give me a very stable impression. Actually, I was expecting about 1 more week of veg, but that should be too much, so I will be starting the flowering phase in a maximum of 2 days. Next week, I’m hopefully getting an LED upgrade, which I’m expecting will give me a bit more power during flowering. The week has been without any issues, and the automatic watering ensures the nutrient supply, with the Lemon Z getting about 800 ml of nutrient solution once a day.

HomeToGrow Hey, Since Wednesday, the Lemon Z has officially entered the flowering stage. Along with that, I made a small light update, as the old 100 W LED seemed to be on the lower end of the performance spectrum. I also made a small change in watering and switched from drippers to Netbows to enable a more even and faster watering (I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing the conversion in a full tent; waiting until the next grow would have saved me a lot of hassle). By now, I'm tying back one or more of the shoots under the SCROG net about every other day, as there's still some space to the side, and otherwise, I might run out of room in the next 1.5 to 2 weeks, depending on how strong the stretch will be. So far, I'm really liking the Lemon Z, and it looks like it's going to be a really good grow.

HomeToGrow Hey, The 2nd week of flowering isn't quite over yet, and we are on the 11th day of bloom. The Lemon Z has become a nice, even bush with strong branching. Overall, the plant has responded very well to the SCROG technique with its medium internode spacing. Since Friday, the shoots are no longer being bent down and can stretch up a bit more. By now, the first few white hairs are visible, and I'm excited for the coming weeks, but first, next weekend we’ll do some serious defoliation and lollipopping, as the leaf mass has become quite enormous, and I can also feel that in the humidity, which is averaging around 62%.

HomeToGrow Hey, We're on flowering day 18 and the Lemon Z is now forming its first trichomes and flower sites, which predicts a trichome-rich harvest? Due to the extremely bushy growth, the enormous leaf mass, and the resulting high humidity of up to 81%, I've moved up the defoliation and lollipopping a bit. Already on day 16, I defoliated significantly more than usual and also removed more shoots, so that each shoot has enough space and light. While lollipopping, I noticed a small sign of thrips on a single leaf; even though I couldn't find any thrips directly, I've already ordered predatory mites, so there shouldn't be any problems if thrips are actually present. In general, the Lemon Z is hardly stretching anymore and is clearly moving into flower formation, which works well for me; otherwise, I would have to rebuild the exhaust again...

HomeToGrow Hey, This week there will only be a short update. The Lemon Z has become a real monster and is now about 80 cm tall. The strong vertical growth and the resulting lack of distance to the LED has grilled the top leaves; a solution is being worked on, and I'm still waiting for the snail mail. The buds and some of the fan leaves are covered in trichomes, but the terps are not very present yet; a slight lemon sweetness can already be detected.

HomeToGrow Hey, Another week has passed, and thankfully the Lemon Z has finally stopped stretching. The light damage from the temporary 5 cm gap between the LED and the bloom hasn't gotten worse, and the 15 cm (?) distance seems to be sufficient. The Lemon Z stands out especially for its really strong trichome production and flower sites; it seems like a yield monster is developing here. However, the terpene profile has so far fallen short of my expectations; there's a slight scent of sweet lemons, but nothing more. I'm still relaxed about it since the plant has at least 4 to 5 weeks to go. The Z from the last run behaved similarly, and only in the last weeks did the terpenes explode. The buds themselves look very frosty, dense, and have a good leaf-to-bud ratio. Otherwise, the strain seems very robust and adaptable so far; the only thing that leaves me somewhat unsatisfied is the really enormous stretch and the leaf mass that's been formed.

HomeToGrow Hey, Another stress-free week of flowering is coming to an end, and there isn't much to report at the moment. The buds are forming a really good solid structure, but so far they are a bit smaller than I expected. However, there are a lot of bud sites. So far, the Lemon Z is shining mainly with its growth during the veg stage, its very uncomplicated needs, and its strong trichome production. I still hope for a bit more from the terpenes, but there are about 3-4 weeks left for the Lemon Z, so everything remains chill.

HomeToGrow Moin, Die 7.

This dying leaf in the flowering stage would worry me - I would check the bud just to be safe if I were you. Better safe than sorry 👍

@Tower84 Thank you very much first. :) I'll take another look at the spot, I'm pretty sure it comes from when the stretch was a bit out of control and the bud was about 4 days under 5 cm away from the Sanlight. Since I managed to reposition the LED and also raised it a bit more, the leaves haven't noticeably worsened. You're definitely right, and a closer look won't hurt! 😅😊👍

@HomeToGrow, maybe I got a bit paranoid after that happened to me in my last grow with the Strawberry Gorilla 😬😅 Otherwise, everything looks great on your end 👍👍👍

Good luck with new strains! My Lemon Z is biggest in tent atm and was very fast vegger. 😊

@HippyHemulen, Many thanks I'm quiet excited to see how the Lemon Z will perform. Sadly only one of the two seeds actually emerged after planting the other one looks like it stalled after germination.
