The end is finally here and couldn’t be much happier with the results. Zamnesia has proven itself to have some quality beans, especially when you consider how badly this grow could’ve gone right at the beginning. Overall, they were a medium yielding, medium height and medium maintenance strain all around. Great for just about any indoor environment and while the first two beans were DOA at germination, these 2 popped and battled through some tough initial conditions to flourish: 1:. Taste & Smell: 🍭🍭 Effects: 🍭🍭🍭🍭 Post chop and the review is coming after a 10 day dry and only 2 days on the cure. Taste & smell get 2 of 5 lollipops because it’s still pretty much fresh cut hay. The smell is certainly strong but the true scent profile isn’t even close to coming out yet. I’d say the pre-chop scent was understated somewhat - a mix of pine and an almost chemical like scent (maybe some of the Chem sis showing🤷‍♂️). A total of 88 days from flip to chop, she took a while to finish out so expect the cure will be a little extended too. The effects however are available now at full strength: 1:😎. First real crack at er was a three hitter off the vape and it was unimpressive. Wasnt even sure if I was stoned. Pretty disappointing given all the hype. Then, today, we got real and smoked a j of it... whoa 😲. This stuff hit heavy and quickly. I’d lean it towards the indica side of the hybrid spectrum for sure. That said it’s more of a ball dropping cerebral stone that takes your body with it. I’m sure you could argue that’s more of a sativa description but frankly - I’m high AF on this shit right now and just surprised I can compose a sentence, let alone describe how I feel about it.😉 4 of 5 lollipop emojis. Losing only one point because she hasn’t demonstrated as a good vape option.

Nutes 🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭 It only makes sense to mention here that we originally started these girls in a compost mix. Despite the fact that this medium was insanely hot we some how managed not to burn the crap out of em as young seedlings and they continued to thrive after being moved into coco. The Botanicare line is where it’s at for us. We employ the base nutes for veg. and bloom a little more than full strength for almost the entirety of the grow. Limiting or halving the feed mix only in early veg. The addition of the karma and hydroplex seems to pay additional dividends as well. Calmag might as well be a base nute as every plant we run simply does better with it as part of the schedule. We did have to switch up the bloom nutes from pro-bloom to the kind bloom line and noticed very little if any difference. There’s a little less N in the kind bloom but it really didn’t seem to matter much. Next run we’ll be incorporating Terpinator as well to see if this results in a better taste, scent and resin profile. I really can’t say enough about this line of nutes and they continue to make it difficult for me to consider another brand. 5 of 5 lollipop emojis for being so damn consistent😉👏

Method 🎚️🎚️🎚️ This one was very much a “work with what ya got” type of grow. Once we realized that we’d have to grow ‘em indoors to accommodate other plants in the cycle, we were a solid 2 weeks past the preferred date that we could’ve topped or fimmed ‘em. Given considerations for the other plant in the cabinet we did just that and included some lst to widen out the base and canopy which extended the veg. Time by another 2 weeks. We also kept the branches below the topped node which ended up being a good decision overall as these grew up as some of the best yielding colas on the plant (in lieu of what could’ve been another mainline instead). Most of the grow was just doing what was necessary to keep things manageable. I also have to extend some serious props to my partner in crime who owned all the subsequent defo that they needed. These girls required a lot more of it than expected and were trimmed back regularly throughout the stretch, the 4th and even 5th week of flower. They wouldn’t have turned out as well as they did without my wife’s careful attention to the trimming so they are very much her girls as opposed to mine😉. In summary, method was nothing special and really only prompted by necessity and height uniformity with the other plant. That in of itself was a fail because the neighbour strawberry ended up an absolute monster: 1:. 3 outta 5 volume emojis for taking well to the topping, only losing marks because the whole grow was pretty much unplanned. Medium: 🥥🥥🥥🥥 Lighting: ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ These ladies took a lot longer to dry out and flush than expected. About an extra 5 days on top of a week of flushing. They faded really nicely in the end and waiting a little longer on the dry time proved a wise decision and allowed for a little bit more bud maturity. Coco remains the go-to medium in lieu of soil when we grow indoors. It’s just plain simple to deal with. Better drainage, faster growth rate (especially in veg.) and re-usable. We mix all of our old medium together in a couple grow bags and grab/recycle as needed for either new grows or soil amendments: 1:. This stuff has been through 3 cycles now and IMO is still usable for this purpose. it’s nute neutral, allows us to dictate exactly what the plant receives at all times. more manageable and precise than soil. The only knock is one of its greatest strengths. With better drainage comes more regular feedings. If you prefer to spend less time watering, then soil will get you a day or two more between feedings at most stages. Again however, this mediums biggest advantage is it’s versatility - it goes from nute rich to flushed & neutral in days which means you get to rev the proverbial engine on her uptake right to the finish. All with great drainage and the simplicity of amended soil mediums: 1:😎. The grow space also deserves some token mention here. It was specifically designed and constructed to run up to 4 plants, in line, per cycle. The idea was to spend heavy on a strong penetration grow light and go higher instead of wider when it came to the actual enclosure. It was a great decision. We save on depth and access problems by being skinny but sacrifice nothing with respect to the potential for plant size: 1:. I understand that LED bar lights are making a strong case for max coverage these days but if you’re looking for a single point light source, you definitely can’t go wrong with something like this COB tech.: 1: 4 of 5 coconut emojis for the medium - awesome all around, but dries out quick. 5 of 5 sun emojis for the light rig because this COB setup is insanely good at growing top shelf smoke😎👌: 1:. Yield🌴🌴🌴 Well afford 3 of a potential 5 tree emojis for the yield on these girls - but only because they’re a medium yielding strain by nature. I’m happy to report that we really did drive out as much yield from these chicks as they were prepared to offer under the circumstances and it was a solid haul for sure: 1:: 1:: 1:. The trimming sucked, especially on pheno #1 - she was just leafier than the other. They also dried out substantially more than expected. The buds absolutely glisten in the light and are covered in trichs. Last trich. photos were taken the week prior. Big difference in five days later when we chopped. About an even 20% amber thoughout the whole depth of each plant which is a phenomenal result given their density. The numbers aren’t insane but certainly solid and more than expected. It’s when you add em up to the strawberry that shared the cabinet when things start to look really impressive. Total yield - pheno #1: 4.46oz Total yield - pheno #2: 3.99oz Approx. est. yield: 500g/m2 divides by 4.8, multiplied by 2 (approx. for 2/3 the cabinets sq/ft) = 208.32g per 0.41m2 Actual yield: 8.45oz./0.41m2 = 239.55g per 0.41m2. Again, based on the rough averages, we continue to crush every last bit of yield out of each successive grow in this environment. Plant training and topping is likely the difference maker, as is the light fixture. For this last 3-plant cycle our haul is a total of 17.2oz!👌: 1:😎😂. That’s well over a half pound of greenery per run of 3 plants. BOOM 💥!!! It’s safe to say that friends and family will be of great assistance when it comes to the consumption of our efforts. It’s also clear that this is gonna be the norm moving forward so the next grows will be a little more experimental and likely lacking quite this much of a yield. Good things growing in the north country y’all😎: 1:. Props: 👊👊 Can’t forget those who hit the follow button on this one. I can’t say this was our best work but it was still a fun grow with an excellent end result. If it encouraged some discussion or enlightened someone with how to address their own grow then we’re happy. That said, it’s been so damn busy with trying to update all the plants we have on the grow that there has been almost no opportunity to reach out to others and take a closer look at what everyone else is doing. Hopefully there’s no offence taken in that respect if we haven’t returned the favour for ya. please reach out any time if there’s something you want to chat on. Thanks also to GD for making this platform a reality for us. Having been doing this as long as we have now, it’s scary to think about tracking our grows any other way. CHEERS! 🍻

@TheBudWhisperer, I have no idea how to estimate weight based on size, structure and number of colas - I'm only on me 3rd grow. Even I can tell though that the BDM is gonna fill quite a few kilners! 👌

@mr_h_kovert, I’ll be the first to tell u those are modest (and very achievable) numbers dude. I think you’ll find you may have underestimated 😉. At least let’s hope so👍😎

@TheBudWhisperer, Credit where it's due mon ami. I share the same sentiment - growing in a city in the UK aint so good for stress levels. 1st grow close to harvest and 2nd grow of year has just commenced. 2 a year is all I need. Will go down the smaller pot greater numbers route next year - more variety and if I'm able to pull in 4-5 oz I'll be content. Hard work I can empathise with too. If only the missus saw it that way! Love ya work! 👊💪💪💪👊

@Cannibalgardens, all comes with experience homie👍. You just need a couple of cycles to figure out the top end of the feeding schedule. Once you know when you’re pushing the plant to it’s limit in terms of nutes, then you’ll be able to find that sweet spot where she’s getting everything that she needs. Every strains always a little different. Always a great adventure😉.

They look terrific! I know a very accomplished grower here in DC. You won’t find him on any forum. He’s strictly local and under the radar. He told me that GG4 is one of the four phenotypes of GG that express, but there is no guarantee that seeds from a pollinated GG4 will deliver anything other than the four possible phenos. He laughed when I showed him seeds for GG4 were for sale. Who knows what’s true in this nutty cannabusiness?
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented6 years ago
@growdoctordc, no doubt and that’s a good rule of thumb for sure bud. that’s the thing too, you can’t mistake certain genetic traits (even when the Breeders do suggest this or that). Given all the various different phenos and then when accounting for the fact that most strains are hybrids - hard to pin down exactly what’s what for sure.👍 that said, this one is certainly showing as indica dominant so Zamnesia did get that right😉
growdoctordc
growdoctordccommented6 years ago
@TheBudWhisperer, I think it is less a marketing ploy than simple misunderstanding, which is prevalent in this industry. Go to a few of seed banks and notice how they claim % of Sativa or Indica. Both are listed as dominant depending on wheee you go. Some banks even have two apparently nearly identical GG strains they list as opposite dominants!! That’s simply ridiculous and showcases the inconsistencies potheads believe in. I’ve seen a menu here in town that lists GG flower as Sat dom, but the cartridge is Indy. So much bullshit in cannabusiness! Smoker beware
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented6 years ago
@growdoctordc, actually - just double checked and this particular strain from Zamnesia is just straight GG per the website so my mistake. It’s also indica dominant. I do have a GG#4 strain from expert seeds that I haven’t tried yet which is supposed to be sativa dominant. What exactly is your buddy saying about the #4? That it’s a marketing ploy because GG will only express 4 phenos? The #4 being one of them? That would make a lot of sense actually.

You use 7 different nutrients and all you got back is 8 oz shouldn't have gotten back more. What do you think you would have gotten without using all those nutrients?
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented5 years ago
@202lost, not exactly I think. IMO - yield on a photo is going to be largely determined by veg. Time and for 8 weeks this is what I’d expect on average. I actually had to switch out with a different bloom nute type (same co. And roughly same concentration) simply due to availability so it was actually only 6 nutes and no more than 4 at any time. I’ve never run Zamnesia genetics until these plants and honestly, I thought they performed rather well for a coco grow. And as it’s in coco I’d have to be running calmag and base grow/bloom nutes at a minimum regardless. All relative right?
