DAY 27, most of the plants are flowering, LST works so well. I'm worried because some of them seems to have advance, I don't think the buds should be that big for their age, maybe the heat stress made them flowering faster ? Moreover, some plants have their lower leaves turning yellow, I don't know what it is, give them nutrients once every 2 watering and I'm being very light with the amount of nutrients. Ordered 2 cooltubes, one for each light, it will help to cool down the room, gotta pick them up at the store and use them today. DAY 33, I followed your advices guys and added a bit of each nutrients for their deficiencies, don't know exactly if it was Ca, Mg or N deficiency but I can tell how better they are ! Water pH between 6,2 and 6,5 with 3acid down, hygro 55%. Because of the lower hygro for flowering stage, temp is going higher, I'll try my best to take care of them because another heat wave is coming... Thinking about reducing the light time to 12/12

Grow Questions

The leaves are curled up, it's hot in the room these days, I guess this is the reason. Plants growing fast anyway, humidity between 48%57% but I'm worried because of this leaves problem. Should I ? I do my best to cool down but can I do something else ? Mist the leaves ? Thanks !

hey there, you're too hot right now, but actually for seedlings it's basically fine. Actually your leaves are curling due to root problems because the pH is too high from the root juice which will raise the pH of soil leading to this problem. You do need some pH down if you keep on using it , and soon you might get more serious problems. not to worry the soil will recover with a strict wet dry cycle (so simple!) or use a buffering agent like humic acid which will boost the plant and fix the soil, dont use to much though ! hope this helps ! πŸš€

The lower leaves of some plants are yellow, then die. I'm very light with nutrients, there is no bugs into the grow room, what can it be ? pH between 6 and 7, lower it with few drops of lemon juice but bought a 3aciddown bottle. And are the buds supposed to be that big already ?

hey bro they are looking really good ( i am doing the same Strain),your are really fast, which is a good thing :D it is normal that some leaves turns yellow at the begining of flowering , you can start giving them Biobizz Bloom now , i would not change anything else ,becuase the plants are more sensitive to over feeding in flowering phase ,over feeding them can stun the growth, and you dont want that ,specially with flowering πŸ˜‰

All my plants are infested of thrips ! I didn't notice before, beginner mistake ! I can see the thrips under the leaves, even close to the buds. I'm about to harvest 1 plant very soon and the others in the coming weeks, can I harvest anyway or I have to get rid of them before ?

You can harvest as planned. I am sure we have all smoked worse than a few bugs at one time or another lol. I would order some ladybugs to kill them on the rest of the plants though.

Morning Paulolo, I'm a strong avocate of misting plants.....and on a regular basis - ultimately I'm mirroring mother nature. Well that's how I see it. If you have a look at my diary you'll see how healthy the plants are. I tend to mist between waters just with H20 and I've had no complaints from the girls! πŸ˜€
mr_h_kovert
mr_h_kovert
@Paulolo03, What would happen in nature Paulo? I sometimes give the plants a drenching - most of the water will drip down into the soil anyway so I'd say not to worry about making the roots lazy. I wouldn't however recommend too much misting once flowering has commenced.

@mr_h_kovert, yep, doing it for the first time and it's clearly a super important and often overlooked tool to have in a grow room - i'm a new but also strong advocate like like you lol
Paulolo03
Paulolo03
@mr_h_kovert, thanks man, I tried yesterday during night time and the plants seem to like it, at least, they don't dislike it ! I read before that it's not good to do it often, because the plant absorb water through the leaves and the roots become lazy... Don't know if it's true, I'll keep doing it and see by myself

I think it's normal for some of the lower leaves to turn yellow. It's just the way it is, they don't get as much light and the rest of the plant is taking the nutrients from them. Could also be its warm in there and they're just dying out. Calmags also not a bad idea. I wouldn't worry, just keep doing what you're doing. πŸ‘

@Fruitgrower, hell yeah it's hard plant ! I went over 33Β°C sometimes, it didn't affect the plants that much and they recovered so fast ! I guess my 720mΒ³/h air extractor helped. Gonna take a look at these evaporate coolers, never heard of that before
CRiSPrGrow
CRiSPrGrow
@Fruitgrower, evoporative coolers are the bomb , for sure ! i reckon more people would have them around if only they knew that such a thing existed, that it is cheap and that it's called that lol
Fruitgrower

@Paulolo03, I think (dependent on the strain obviously) Cannabis is a pretty hardy Plant and can tolerate high temps with the right air exchange. But adding an evaporate cooler which i got for 50 bar really helped my grow, wish id have done it earlier.

hey there, I grow the same strain from the same breeder right now. Are the evenly high branches the result of LST? the plants look super and healthy! Happy growing :D

@absolutgrow, thanks bro, I actually already have or tried everything you mentioned: my exhaust fan is 720mΒ³/h (my grow box about 0,9m x 2,4m), 2 smaller ones to bring in fresh air from the outside (about 350mΒ³/h). The temperatures was fine from the beginning to week 4, I guess because my humidity was set at 70% and as you say, it helps to cool down the temp. When they started to flower, I changed for 50 to 55%, the temperature went too high, it's summer and we had 2 heat waves, so I bought 2 cooltubes, it probably helps but it's still too hot... Don't want more humidity for the risk of mould again exactly as you said... And I can't move the box, it's outside in a woodshed. I have a good isolation for winter but the air comes directly from outside so if it's hot outside, you see.. πŸ˜… I already thought about the LED but can't afford it yet, I will probably invest for the next grow but also wondering if I really should because next grow will be in winter and that heat produced by my HPS would be useful ! I'll keep growing with what I have and learn from this first experience ! I'm gonna follow your diary and see how it goes ;)

@Paulolo03, haha what a coincidence xD, thanks for the tips. Regarding the too warm temperatures: I grow this strain for the first time and can't say anything specific about it. In general, however, it is so that temperatures above 35 degrees can damage the plant seriously in terms of quality and quantity. In extreme cases it can even die (but is very rare). Now to the solutions: Do you have an exhaust fan that exhausts enough m3/h (depending on the size of your tent)? If not, you should get one urgently. You should also let the warm air out of the tent through pipes to the outside or at least out of the room. If not, the heat will accumulate in the room. If that doesn't work you should think about buying a cooltube. This costs but can reduce the heat emitted by a lamp by 50%. Alternatively, you can buy an LED that produces less heat and uses less electricity. You could also increase the humidity, which would lower the temperature. But I wouldn't recommend that because mould can develop. If everything doesn't work I would move the tent (if possible) to a cooler place. For example a cellar. I myself had a lot of problems with too high temperatures and got them under control :p.

@absolutgrow, hey ! I took a look at your diary few minutes before you actually comment this :P Yes, it is the result of LST, which worked very very well. Make sure to adjust it at least 2 or 3 times a week with the purpose to have no one branches higher than the others, you'll notice sometimes that the plant respond overnight ! My plants look healthy but I'm dealing with high temperatures (around 40Β°C sometimes), they are very strong and endure it but I think it affects their grow lately, I hope I'll have the decent harvest I expect. If you've more question, I'm here ;) Happy growing man

Hey man, your plants look great with frosty buds. They seem to have recovered from the heat stressπŸ˜‡ What Pot size do you use?
Paulolo03
Paulolo03
@absolutgrow, they recovered from heat stress and many other problems as well ! The pots are 15L, they were full at the beginning but through all the watering, the soil got packed and it's about 12 or 13L now. The pots are actually buckets for paint, sand etc bought in a DIY store, screwed wooden blocks on the bottom and drilled holes for the water to drain, cheap and efficient !

Hi @Paulolo03! You're right, your environment is too hot for such young plants. You can try to increase your relative humidity, by putting fresh wet towels every 12 hours into your grow room, or by adding an electrical humidifier (in this case don't forget to replace/refresh the water every 12 hours). Spraying a fresh solution could help the plants to relax, but only if you do this at night, do not spray anything while the lights are on, you will increase the risk of burnt spots onto the leaves. Another option could be to build a DIY air conditionner, with bucket/ice/fan, there are some nice tutorials on YouTube, but this solution don't seem really efficient. Hope this will help, keep us updated and happy growing! πŸ‘Š

@Stick, thank you for your answer !! I've 2 small humidifier, I'm gonna set a higher humidity % and spray some fresh water on the plants. It's gonna be really hot for few more days here, is it a good idea to set a longer night time to avoid hot temperatures during the day ? Thank you again for your help πŸ€™

Ma man nice grow!! So was it fast for you? Yeah i know that feeling when you running out lol! Same for me because i don't have to much space in the house and my misses is angry at me that i take space with my girls and all those sounds with ventilation but she got use to it LoLπŸ˜… So I have only 70cm 70cm 160cm tent and for now I only grow 2 plants every grow not that much space 😬 and not enough yield to smoke till the other yield comes again, so I don't now ,need to practise more with what i have to get bigger yields.. maybe this would solve my problem that im always runing out of the weed fuckng sucks, not having time for the curing want to smoke NOW! and I can't realy expand more only got that much space for now.. so need to grow big ass koalas to pay off the smoking house that I am lol! So ma man when you hit the smoke of this beautiful Northen Light make a review rate it ! cuz in my next grow i will try this strain , I see that it's a big yielder normaly, look up Grow pot cheaply on youtube he did this strain and yielded 398 grams from one plant! Thats what i need to learn use my space of how much I have and make those 2 strains what i grow so big that maybe it's enough to hold till the next yield? Im waiting to see how much you will yield! Good luck.
