SUNDAY 6/23:
I floated a single Zkittlez bean today to try in my Summer outdoor grow.
Once it sprouts I'll sprinkle it with great white and plant it in a rockwool cube. Once I see a good amount of roots sticking out I'll sprinkle the roots with mycotrex and plant it in a 3 gallon pot that's already prepared with startrex and silicium. I'm also gonna be using biotabs, orgatrex, bactrex, mycotrex, boom boom spray, PK booster compost tee, bud candy, and terpinator in this grow.
I've got a new outdoor faucet timer that I'll have run a soaker hose for 10 minutes at a time, several times per day through the hottest part of the Summer. (105f-110f), and she will be located in a fairly shady spot,. Hopefully baked Zkittlez are as good as the regular kind...😁
MONDAY:
I figured what the hell and floated a second Zkittlez bean today...I've got the space, and I really like candy...
TUESDAY:
The first one sprouted into an inch-long seedling overnight, so I dipped the taproot into Great White, and put some more down the hole before planting it. The second one sunk.
For stealth purposes, simplicity in transfer, and to give the seedlings an advantage, I've decided to transfer the rockwool-cubed seedlings from the dome to some 6" pots (1/2 gallon) that I've prepared with startrex and silicium flash. I'll grow the seedlings under my 2000w blurple light for a couple of weeks before taking them outside. I should be able to carry all of them in a big box out to the site without injuring them. This will give me time to start sneaking the big pots out to the site. I'll pre-mix the startrex and silicium flash on-site and add the mycrotrex when I transplant them to the 3 gallon pots and give them a good douching with bactrex and orgatrex to get them started well.
My soil has been recharging for several months with tons of good stuff added (earthworm castings, bat guano, azomite, biochar, bokashi, nectar for the godz one-shot and myco), plus I'll be growing them with the biotabs line of products, so they will have a good chance. I figure that I'll probably fix up their first batch of PK booster compost tea right away and douche them with it in their first week outdoors. Every little thing I can do to help them strengthen for the oncoming heat they'll experience...probably some extra kelp too...
FRIDAY:
Still only one of them has emerged, but it looks good so far.
FRIDAY 7/5:
Still just the one..giving up on the other. Week 2 begins Sunday.
SUNDAY 7/7:
The second seedling never emerged...seems like maybe it was too wet for to long.
The first one is finally rooted well in her temporary pot and starting to grow.👍
FRIDAY 7/13:
She's happy and healthy and starting to branch out a bit now. I'm still flooding her with a lot of blue spectra for another few days, then I'll warm the color spectrum and temperatures up a bit and lower the humidity to get her used to what the outdoors will be like. I've got a 1500w blurple 5-COB fixture that I've figured out how to mount in the bathroom cabinet where I'm vegging. It will only be about 10 or 11 inches from her top, so that last few days indoors will be very intensely lit. I may have to just run it in 1-hour bursts throughout the day along with some less intense LED's while it's off.
TUESDAY 7/16:
Today I transplanted her into a 3 gallon pot and moved her outdoors. She has a massive root system already. I watered her in with bottled water and some dolomite, azomite, and bokashi. I'll cook up some tea for her and everybody else I move outdoors in the next few days.
WEDNESDAY:
I watered her with about a half-gallon and added Kelp Me Kelp You. I also sprayed her a few times with Boom Boom Juice and she seemed to grow an inch almost immediately.😀
THURSDAY:
She grew two inches overnight! I FIM'd her today and inspected her for pests...all clear.👍
FRIDAY:
Inspected for pests and repositioned her in a spot that gets another half hour of sunlight per day. I sprayed the area with Ortho again and bought a little air bubbler to aerate water for compost tea.
SATURDAY:
She put on a few more inches since Thursday..really stretching now, but I still see no pistils. I mixed up a fairly weak batch of Big Bloom and Grow Big plus some Kelp Me Kelp You and douched her with about a half-gallon right as the sun was coming up. I also prepared a foliar feed using Big Bloom and Kelp Me Kelp You and sprayed her well before the sun came up, and again after it was going down. I also started aerating 4 gallons of water today...will add the compost tea tomorrow morning and let it cook for 24 hours.
SUNDAY:
I foliar fed her and sprinkled little more Silicium Flash on top of the soil of all my plants and mixed about 4 grams of Bactrex into a jug with 3/4 gallon of bottled water and douched all my plants with about 2 pints each. That should really get the beneficial bacteria and fungus kicked into overdrive.
I started brewing a 4 gallon batch of compost tea today. Since I don't have any Orgatrex, I am using a little Big Bloom, Kelp Me Kelp You, and Grow Big in the tea in addition to the PK Compost Booster tea from Bi Tabs. I'll add Mycotrex to it about 2 hours before it finishes and dowse them all, thoroughly, tomorrow morning.
MONDAY:
I think I FIM'd the FIM job..not acting right...but she's stretching like crazy now.
She got about a liter of compost tea this morning along with a good foliar feeding.
TUESDAY 7/23:
She's very healthy and growing vertically like a beast, but I'm pretty disappointed in how stretchy she is between internodes. I'm sure that's because they're only getting about 4 or 5 hours of direct sunlight a day and spending the rest of the day fairly well shaded. Can't really do much about it...maybe a little more tree trimming will gain an additional half hour of sunshine for her...
WEDNESDAY:
I foliar fed her and gave her a little douche of Bactrex this morning. I carried my pole saw down to the site at daybreak and removed a few smaller branches above her and to the West. I will visit her this evening and see if it is allowing some evening sun to reach her.
THURSDAY-SUNDAY:
I just watered and foliar fed Thursday, foliar fed on Friday, foliar fed let her dry out some more on Saturday, and douched her with compost tea on Sunday.
MONDAY:
She popped a few pistils last night. I only stared at her and took a photo today...tomorrow begins week 5.
TUESDAY 7/30:
She's got pistils popping now, so I gave her a drink of 6.0 ph'd water with kelp me kelp you, great white, and open sesame.
WEDNESDAY:
She's starting to branch out nicely now, but continuing to stretch👍
I checked for bugs and while doing so, I observed that she's really starting to smell nice.😋
I gave her about a liter of ph's water with Bactrex today and she'll get compost tea tomorrow.
THURSDAY:
I added bamboo stake because we're expecting heavy winds and fed her about a half-gallon of compost tea that I brewed up for 2 days. Besides the PK Booster, it included Big Bloom, Kelp Me Kelp You, Great White, and I started adding Bembe for the carbs/sugars, and the additional earthworm castings, bat and seabird guano that it contains.
TUESDAY 8/6:
She's really branching out now..love it!
We had high humidity for the past few days, so she isn't drying out as quickly. No water for her today, and maybe not tomorrow either.
WEDNESDAY:
She was still fairly damp at 3 inches depth, but I am impatient, so I gave her about a half-gallon of water with big bloom, kelp me kelp you, bembe, open sesame, great white, and terpinator. It was a 100f degrees with a 15mph wind today (108f heat index)..kinda felt like a hair-dryer, so she probably appreciated it.
THURSDAY:
All I did today was look at her and sniff her little buds...very hot out today, she'll need water tomorrow.
FRIDAY:
I watered her with about a half gallon including some bembe and terpinator, and foliar fed her with big bloom and boom boom spray. I sprayed down the area with ortho and spread granular insecticide as well.
SATURDAY:
At dawn, I fed her about 32oz of water with bactrex. At dusk, I fed her about a half-gallon of compost tea with pk booster, big bloom, bembe, kelp me kelp you, great white, and terpinator.
SUNDAY:
She's looking very healthy, but she sure isn't beefing up very fast..
I guess that's due to just getting 14 hours of daylight..I'm starting a few of this same strain in my indoor grow in a couple weeks. It will be nice to see how much quicker and thicker they are in "heavenly" conditions.
MONDAY:
I did nothing but gawk at her today..no bugs or other issues that I could see. She smells really nice.😍
TUESDAY 8/13:
I fed her about a half-gallon with big bloom, kelp me kelp you, bembe, beastie bloomz, and terpinator. Hopefully that will kickstart the bud swelling.
WEDNESDAY:
We had a little rain last night. It's sunny today, but the temperature is a little cooler and the humidity is very high. I had my glasses on while inspecting her this morning..seeing some signs of spider mites here and there. I'll spray them with trifecta crop control this evening or tomorrow morning depending on if the humidity drops quick enough.
THURSDAY:
No time for gardening at all today...😕
FRIDAY:
I missed a day only to return and find that she's SICK!!!
Damnit!😖
She and two of my other plants suddenly have what looks like a bad calcium and/or phosphorous deficiency. I sprinkled some bat guano and silicium flash onto her soil and watered it in with about a half gallon of water including calimagic, beastie bloomz, terpinator, and bembe. I also thoroughly sprayed her with boom boom spray. I started brewing another batch of the PK booster compost tea including extra bat guano, earthworm castings, bembe, big bloom, and kelp me kelp you. It should be ready on Sunday...hang in there baby!🙏
SATURDAY:
I went boating and had no time for gardening..
SUNDAY:
I fed her a little bit of compost tea, but I fear her pot is too wet down at the bottom and that this is really a root problem. Gonna transplant her tomorrow for sure.
MONDAY:
I transplanted her into a 5 gallon pot with a much lighter mix..her roots were subpar to say the least. Kinda stinky...I think maybe too much biochar and not enough perlite in that pot.
TUESDAY 8/20:
When I transplanted her I was pretty disappointed with her roots...I think my soil mix wasn't airy enough for her and the additional biochar I amended her soil with kept it too moist down at the bottom of the pot. When I transplanted her into the 5 gallon pot, I added a lot of extra perlite to the mix.
She recovered from the transplant quickly, but it's still too soon to tell if it will make her happier...
WEDNESDAY:
Her new growth is looking better..I'm still optimistic that transplanting her will give her a chance to improve.
THURSDAY:
She was almost totally dried out today, so I ran the soaker hose for about 10 minutes just to keep her from burning up. I'm gonna water her tomorrow with bactrex, bembe, and terpinator, then let her dry out again.
FRIDAY:
I fed her a half gallon of bactrex, bembe, terpinator, and armor si, then it rained about a half-inch a few hours later.
SATURDAY:
Hot and sunny day...too busy to check her.
SUNDAY:
She's recovering?? Not so sure...finger's remain crossed...🙏
TUESDAY 8/27:
It rained most of the day today, so I didn't go down to check on her at all.
WEDNESDAY:
It rained again this morning for a while, but was sunny for the rest of the day. She's looking pretty haggard, but her newest growth looks almost normal. Maybe she's recovering..🙏
THURSDAY:
She isn't looking any worse, but she also isn't looking much better...
FRIDAY:
I sure hope she turns the corner soon and gets busy budding up for me..
SATURDAY:
Did nothing...
SUNDAY:
Did nothing again..
MONDAY:
She's still fugly...😞
I cleaned my aquarium filters today and used that water along with all the normal feed and gave her about 3/4 gallon.
TUESDAY 9/3:
I almost want to delete this diary..not even worth my time I'm afraid.
She seems to be stuck. Hasn't really recovered from her root problems despite being transplanted into a looser mix with a couple extra gallons of soil. She doesn't look any worse, but she also doesn't look any better, and the calendar tells me that there isn't much time left for things to change....😟
WEDNESDAY:
I was out at the property for awhile today, hosed off the horsies and cleaned their hooves really well. I was there long enough that I was able to move the plants into direct sunshine for an extra couple hours. I fed her with a half-gallon of water including bembe, terpinator, tiger bloom, beastie bloomz, armor si, and big bloom.
THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY:
I was sick as a dog . 2-day stomach virus, followed by an acute pancreatitis attack...
😷
MONDAY:
I gave her about a half-gallon of aquarium water with some bembe, beastie bloomz, and tiger bloom.
TUESDAY 9/10:
This plant is pathetic...mostly due to the eary root issues, but also because she needs much more light that what she's been getting. I took a sprinkler down there and swapped out the soaker hose for about 30 minutes of "pseudo-rain" with the well water.
WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY:
I had company in from out of town and just set the soaker hose on a timer for about 10 minutes per day to keep her alive.
SATURDAY:
I fed her about a half-gallon of frothy compost tea that I brewed up for 3 days...compost with biochar, fox farms cave culture bat and seabird guano, kelp me kelp you, soluble dolomite, bembe, humates, liquid molasses, terpinator, and a good blend of endomycorrhizae, trichoderma fungi, and beneficial bacteria...yummm.....but I doubt it does her any good...
Chopped it on Saturday night. I flushed her several days earlier and brought her home in the back of my truck. She had been indoors under 200w of 3500k + 660nm until I killed her.
She smells great and got pretty frosty despite her poor performance.
@CRiSPrGrow,
Yep...I already did some judicious branch removal or they wouldn't be getting any direct sunlight at all..I opened up the tree canopy enough for them to get morning sun(from the east) from about 9:30am until about 2pm, then it's shaded the rest of the day. I'm considering opening up the western exposure so that they'd get a little bit more direct sunlight from around 5pm until 5:30 or maybe 6:00pm.
@CRiSPrGrow,
I kinda doubt it's N lockout....besides the biotabs, she's only received minute amounts of organically derived sources of nitrogen, like kelp, earthworm castings, and compost tea, and the occasional boom boom spray..unless maybe it's a K lockout..
If she hasn't improved when I go out to see her today, I'm gonna transplant her into a 5 gallon pot. I really hate to at this late stage, but I'm hoping she'll recover quickly.
