Age: Day 6 as of 8/3/2019
Updates/Observations:
-Super excited for this grow! Rasta Jeff wouldn't tell me anything about her other than that she was female seed and a temporary name but of course I leapt at the chance!
-Popped them and put them in some small grow bags to veg out for a while then they get transplanted to 5+ gals with Biotabs.
-I have a nifty new double scrog that I will be using for this grow to max out my footprint.
-Another few weeks and we are off to the races!
-Bonus: Lemon Jeffrey (bred by Irie Genetics) at the end of week 3 flower.
Enjoy!

Age: Day 13 as of 8/10/2019
Updates/Observations:
-The plants appear to have a little bit of variegation on each of them but it has not continued into the new growth making me think it was just the stress that new plants usually have as they establish themselves in an organic soil.
-Cruising along watering them about every 3 days or so.
-Extremely tight inter-nodal spacing so I backed the light off a bit more to get them to stretch up a bit.
-Topped each plant and removed the lower nodes closest to the soil for ease of watering later.
Have a good weekend!

Updates/Observations:
-The plants appear to be just getting back on track with growth after the topping. In the future if I figure out that this plant just grows with tight inter-nodal spacing independent of light variables, I may conclude that this plant would be better ran in a SOG setup with a higher plant count and no topping. Could be very dense colas but we will see!
-Gave them their first feed at the end of this week so we will see how they do. I usually do a feed, microbe, plain water, watering cycle when I run bottles.
-Hopefully they put some tops out up higher into the canopy soon!
Enjoy

-Today I cleaned up the middles a bit and finger trained them outward
-they have a very nice symmetrical branching structure with awesome internodal spacing.
-Nice healthy plants ready for blastoff. I’ll probably give them a light feed next week but it’s just recharge and water for now.
Enjoy!

-Can’t explain how excited I am to smell them. Does that sound weird?

-Nice flower development and the plants are dumping frost now.
-Winter has hit so it runs a bit colder in the little tent.
-The plants will most likely take a little longer to flower but that’s okay I’ll give them the time they need. No rush.
-Purple stems most likely temperature related.
-Overall I’m very happy with their structure. They grew nice and even. Great light pen.
-Light nutrient burning but the biotabs and Biobizz combo appears to be working well.
-Getting there!

-Apologies for missing a week. Have some big personal life changes that make it harder to be consistent!

-They get the chop next week so the harvest report will come out about a month after they are in the jar and I can sample the high on different days, for the first time of the day.
-Photographs from a professional photographer coming in the next update! Fantastic shots I will say!

Week 18. Harvest
Happy Harvest Day!
"The Red Pill" (Placeholder Name) - Custom Breeder & Strain
Apologies for not finishing this diary up back earlier this year. Seems like an absolute lifetime ago. Since this harvest, I have had major life changes like a new kiddo, and a few changes of scenery. Your boy is back though and I have some exciting stuff to share with everyone here. 👊
I am the type of person that takes very detailed notes and that was especially true for these testers. Part of my due diligence. Below are my harvest notes from January 23rd, 2020:
Growth:
-Plants did not display any noticeable nutrient deficiencies that would indicate a need for more than normal feed amounts.
-Plants both had a great flat bush like with minimal topping, leaf tucking, finger training (pop and twist).
-Plants grew with wonderful vigor when temperatures were above 65F at night.
-Plants did not appear to like below 60F temperatures at night, almost ceasing growth and significantly increasing flower time.
-One of the two plants turned dark purple/black in the final 2 weeks of flower.
-The purple pheno was much skinnier than the green pheno in terms of cola development. Plant yielded less as well but only slightly.
-Grown with organic bottles and top dresses for cal mag, along with recharge in veg and mammoth p in flower.
-LED grown
Smells:
-Both plants have a similar, yet extremely complex and unique odor: perfume/musk/aftershave/pine
-In addition time the smells above, the purple pheno also has an amazing mint chocolate chip smell.
Maybe in a Rasta Jeff style description, the purple pheno would be “like if your grandpa was wearing a slightly feminine cologne, sitting in an ice cream parlor, eating a cup of mint chocolate chips.” 😆
Effects:
My testing method is to smoke the tester for the first smoke of the day, after a full 9 hour work day sober, and for two single bowls, separated by 1-2 hours. I do this for 3 days then report back.
Both had similar effects noted below:
-Calming body stone with some behind my eyes. Red eyes.
-Relaxing, but not couch locking.
-I know these old labels don’t hold up more but it feels like the more indica side of your lines unlike most of what I’ve grown recently.
-Seems to make me crave discussion about passionate topics, but not in a Lemon Jeffrey way if that makes sense. It doesn’t feel like my thoughts and mouth are racing.
Cheers to everyone who followed along!
G
