Added some Terpinator to this week as I was noticing a little bit of a sulfur deficiency only displaying on the top few leaves. Terpinators main ingredient is Potash Sulfate so this added sulfates should correct the issue. The plants will be fed once in the next week and then they will begin flushing. I must say these COB's have put in quite a lot of work for being only 225W at the wall. I'd say their actual light output is probably around 200W for the lighting and 25 watts for the driver. They do some serious work and I'd say they are very comparable to the 408 watts of Viparspectra that I used in my last grow of Quantum Kush. I'm a little disappointed in the fact that I forgot to monitor my sulfur for the plants but it shouldn't be too much of an issue hopefully. One things get back on track I'm sure it won't matter too much but never the less I'm disappointed. There will be a major reformation of my nutrient regiment the next time I flower to include a few more things and tweak my ratios. Until them we'll just correct the little issue I had and be merry. Cheers everyone.

@@Tryhard, Thanks buddy. I can't wait till these reflectors get here so I can finally flower them. I think I'll just veg them for another week and then defoliate everything below my SCROG while I wait. Until then buddy :D

Beautiful SCROG that is what i call a full canopy 👍

@DeepRoot3d, Thanks buddy. I'm training a few more just like them right now. I'll be doing a few things different with the nutrients next time but otherwise it'll be the same old training. Hopefully with more tops next time. Cheers buddy :D

biggreens420commented7 years ago
@DabCrab,cheers for the info I will have a better chance if I do come across it now I have an idea of what to look for can understand why people mistake it for a n or mg deficiency with the yellowing and purple streaks
DabCrab
DabCrabcommented7 years ago
@biggreens420, So she has a few very small purple streaks on the stem to some lower leaves and a slight tiny amount of yellowing starting at the very top of the plant. It gets mistaken for a nitrogen or manganese deficiency most of the time. As I know my ratios of nitrogen and manganese are perfect it can only be the sulfur issue. It could actually be zinc but my zinc numbers are also on point. The only thing I have thats actually low is the sulfur content. It's kinda one of those things that you have to looks for what it's not instead of what it is. So many problems look so similar that there is no way to really diagnose them unless you look at the overall mineral content in each individual nutrient in depth. There are some really good charts out there to help but the only way to diagnose a problem is too look at the nutrients and then look at pictures for comparison. There are some good charts out there about what problems looks like. You'll notice any one thing could be a completely other thing.

Very nice Diaries I do have a couple questions. Would you say the density is equal to that of your HPS? And if I may ask what lights are you using brand-wise?
DabCrab
DabCrabcommented7 years ago
@Floresdejesus, I'm happy I could help at least attempt to clarify a few things. HPS does great work in regards to growing plants. I use T5's myself for a small veg tent I have. It's nice to keep things simple and efficient. No need to pump 1000's of watts into a few seedlings when they aren't capable of using it. I believe the studies show that until the plants get some serious height they aren't really capable of using more than 25 - 35 Umol per day. Whatever you use to do your growing needs all that really matters is that you follow the respected science in regards to what the plants want and need. Which means a good PPFD and VPD.
Floresdejesus
Floresdejesuscommented7 years ago
@DabCrab, thanks for the insight. he did leave me a bit confused. But thanks for the clarification. I personally use led to start from seed they work great for seedling stage. Then t5 for teens then hps with the led as a side dressing.
DabCrab
DabCrabcommented7 years ago
@Floresdejesus, You might want to ignore this troll. He measures light efficacy in LUX😂. He has some points but they aren't justified in science. How effective a light is at producing buds size and density has everything to do with the PPFD of PAR spectrum the plant receives. More specifically how effective the light is at generating an even PPFD over a specific distance. HPS is effective at generating PPFD over a great distance. Sometimes in excess of 2 feet or more. Cobs are more efficient at generating PPFD per watt but the distance at which they are consistent with that distribution of PPFD is only 1 foot... sometimes 18 inches. It's all about how you are growing and what you intend to do. If you want a big full canopy with multiple tops making light penetration impossible to the lower lollipops areas you'd want to use COBs or LED to achieve your results. If you want to grow a tall monster and have buds growing all over the plant including the lower branches then you'd probably want to use HPS. It's all about purpose and use. HPS is less efficient but has great results. COBs are very efficient but only work as intended if you grow your canopy/plants a certain way. It's all about preference. It's a scientific method of course.

@DabCrab, its good when you get to know a strain well U know what to expect and watch out for
DabCrab
DabCrabcommented7 years ago
@biggreens420, Yup. I've grown her quite a few times now and she always seems to be ready on day 56 - 58. I've had some finish earlier though but thats because I did the 48 hours of darkness before starting flowering and then 48 hours at the end of flowering... though that would mean she still finished around day 56 - 58. lol. Cheers buddy :D

@@frags, There are three Quantum Kush plants in this closet. They are all trained through scrog netting to make an even canopy. The canopy could use a little work next time around but I think they turned out nicely this time.

@DabCrab, after I commented I realized we have the same grow space/tent dimensions...so you set the bar high. I think my third round will compete though. Fingers crossed. Happy growing.
DabCrab
DabCrabcommented7 years ago
@ProfoundWeedium, Lol, thanks buddy. It's an immensely small space that I have everything packed into. I fell I must try to perfect a half meter squared before I go for a full meter squared. I want to make sure I can yield what I want from an area before I move upward. Thanks for the compliment again :D

Well said. Same science has proven it why try to reinvent the wheel. Although i do use a LED to sprout. I have done the side ny side strains and the LED does have its advantages in the infancy stage imo. Its all debatable thats why we have joints an beers to discuss!
DabCrab
DabCrabcommented7 years ago
@Floresdejesus, Indeed. LED's are advancing so it's difficult to gauge them all as one thing. Each product varies differently these days so all of them are up in the air for what really works and what doesn't.
