Day 3 - This girl was planted a day earlier than her DWC-Mate, the Gold Glue, so she's a little taller. I had decent luck with the Grapefruit in soil during my last grow, and wanted to see how she'd look in a DWC. The soil girl got a tiny bit of bud rot on one of her colas, for no reason other than she was so thick that it was impossible for air to get between her branches. She still gave me a respectable (For soil) four ounces and is a lovely smoke.
Day 6 - She's in her own bucket! She had almost six inches of taproot and four or five baby roots hanging out of her starter basket. She's just plain THRIVING early on in the DWC. Super glad to see.
Day 7 - She seems to be responding well enough. No changes in her lok from yesterday to today, apart from her continued growth.
Day 8 - She's doing well! PH adjustment is happening daily at this point. Swings from 5.8 to around 6.6 every 24 hours. Being pretty fastidious about it to avoid issues.
Day 14 - End of week two! She's really fat and really healthy looking! She's got a great big wad of root mass hanging from her basket and they're white as snow!
Day 15 - This girl is growing like a rocket! She's got a fairly impressive root mass already, which I will take a pic of soon, and she's growing thick and wide! Just just plain pretty and lush.
Day 21 - Just like the first time out, this girl is STACKED up. So dense that her nodes are less than half an inch apart. Had to go through and remove fan leaves on every other node and tuck leaves to keep them for soaking one another. This is a similar problem to what I had with the first Grapefruit grow. SUPER dense plant, almost to her own detriment. Not training her will hopefully help.
Day 22 - This girl really just needs to have leaves selectively removed or she gets too thick. There's no two ways about it. Just stacks and stacks of nodes right on top of one another.
Day 28 - End of week Four! So far so good! She's showing sex, and I've probably removed twenty fairly large fan leaves to give light to her various tops.
Day 29 - I just keep having to remove fan leaves! She's sorta settling in to a groove now, though. The entire plant is sort of shaped like a ball. Would be interesting if she stays that way and just gets bigger. :-D
Day 35 - As we round out seek six, she's doing amazingly well. Started her on Maxibloom this week because the other DWC girl was begging for phosphorous and it was only a matter of time for this one to chime in.
Day 36 - Into Week Six! Both DWC girls are swelling up and beginning to flower! This girl wants desperately to be shaped like a nearly perfect sphere. She drinks 1/4 gallon a day right now, about half of what her Gold Glue DWC pal is drinking. Moving the DWCs over to Maxibloom has perked them right up.
Day 42 - Final Day of week six! Both DWC girls needed a reservoir refresh and have responded well. This girl seems to be maturing a little more slowly than the Gold Glue, but is really bulky and thick. More defoliation will be done, slowly, over the next few days.
Day 43 - Into Week Seven! The burst of growth going into the flower stretch has begin and the DWC girls are looking really good. The Grapefruit girl has been a little easier to deal with, and she's finally got some air in her mass so she's looking great.
Day 50 - Into week nine! Both DWC girls are doing very well. The grapefruit has obviously caught up with her Gold Glue Comrade. She's got more mass and thankfully has a little more space to breathe than the first Grapefruit grown in the last grow. The Gold Glue continually seems to have a weird (Very minor) deficiency that I can't pin down but she's doing so well I'm basically ignoring it. Brown specs on random leaf tips in random points on the plant maybe one in twenty leaves. As I am continually, gradually defoliating, these are the leaves I yank. She's thriving and her roots are gorgeous so I have chosen not to care.
Week Nine!! Everything looks great! Aggressive defoliation and dead leaf removal is happening on the DWC girl underbellies, verging on lollipopping as they aren't being trained for flatness. Branch spreaders are slowly going into effect to get more light down deep. This girl is getting much, MUCH larger than her Gold Glue DWC buddy, and seems to have a longer way to go until harvest. She's gon' be biiig.
Day 64 - Into week ten! The DWC girls are chugging along nicely and really packing on buds. The Gold Glue seems to be about a week or so off from finishing. The Grapefruit maybe a week after that.
Day 71 - We're into week eleven! The DWC girls are doing great and coming along nicely. Both are getting fall colors and their roots are a nice creamy white. This particular girl is yellowing off very evenly and her buds are getting super thick. Thick enough that her outer branches are sagging a bit.
Day 74 - First harvest! I always take the top off my girls now, and put the plant back into the grow for an additional week or more to get the maximum yield. She was a fairly easy trim, and as you can see from the photos, she's just a cute as a button. My fingers, however, hate me right now. :-D 521.84 grams of wet, trimmed bud, and about 2/3 of the plant is still there. Additional updates will be found here as the harvest progresses.
Day 79 - Second harvest! - She's actually got a little more in her so there will be a third and final harvest! Having said that, her new totals are now 904.72 grams wet, 226.18 projected grams dried, of almost exactly eight ounces! Not too shabby! I'll update here again after the last chop, of course, but I'm super happy with this girl, as her final weight almost exactly doubles the first Grapefruit (soil) grow. Double is good!
Actual dry weight - 213.43, - 7.53 Ounces! Hooray!
