Day 6 flowering
MASSIVE changes across the board again this week. I am finally getting my grow room 8x5 and tent 4x3x7 dialed in and fully environmentally controlled with some new Inkbird toys. Also massive changes to the plants.
So when I moved the 3 plants to the flowering room they increased humidity by nearly 30% from 50 to about 75-80% was outrageous and probably very harmful to the other in week 5 of flowering with their big swollen buds so I needed to take drastic measures.
First thing I did was increased ventilation added more of a breeze which helped but not enough so I removed most of the main mature leaves all the way up the main stalks probably 90% of those leaves off all 3 plants. Waited a day and then spread them out with some LST. Those 3 changes dropped the humidity 15-18% of what they created introducing them to the room. NOT ENOUGH UGH so a couple days passed racking my brain reading dehumidifier reviews and spent $100 on a nice little unit that I’m still waiting for. During my search I found Inkbird environment controls COOL lol add to the cart haha.
As the week went on the plants preflowered and what a mix I had 1 for sure female 1 for sure male and the really nice stinky plant had both parts a Hermies was really unfortunate cause it smelled and looked awesome. I don’t have time for the males right this early in testing the seeds so I gave the 2 plants the chop. BYE. Humidity letdown to 55% only 5% extra now and still waiting for the dehumidifier so I can stop constantly worrying about temps and humidity.
At least I got one nice lady in the end with a clone started to root that I plan to give a lot more LST to see how it reacts as opposed to just letting it grow nearly natural shape this round. I also plan to take another clone on day 12 of flowering see how bushy it can get monster cropping her she has the perfect branch at very bottom already producing flower so should work out nicely.
The lady stretched a lot on her lower branches with a fair amount maybe to much space between nodes but I also had them a lot further from lights first few days because I switched from 300w lights to mars hydro 600w flowering lights so probably pushed the stretch a little further then I wanted.
In the end great week unfortunately 2 plants didn’t make the cut but the new toys and 198 more seeds I have left of these it’s all good I’m sure there will be some diamonds in the ruff. And no more worrying about temps dropping below 60f at night anymore with the Inkbird and 200w heater to keep the temp consistent in the entire room 8x5 and a fan to keep it cool for now. I’ve got the humidifier ready and waiting to control the room and the dehumidifier planned to go inside flowering section up high above lights. The room is set to 72 the tent goes to 76 during the day and 65-66f at night consistently now thankfully.
She drinks 1 litre in under 48 hrs now and am feeding transitioning to flowering nutrients for a couple more days then gradually going full flowering nutrients over next week.
Will get better pics later in the week was a rush job. Anyone has questions about the humidity solutions or Inkbird feel free to ask was such an exciting week with the new toys.
coco is a forgiving medium mate. make an error and it can be instantly flushed away if needs be. I love it as a quick grow throw together too. As long as you keep the ph around 5.8 going in all will be good. It leeches calmag from the plant and nutes so have some handy as your going to hit the most needy bit next. The gnats area pain in the ass but if you cover the surface with decent sand , the larvae get stuck and the adults cant get down to lay eggs. you can also try a 20%milk/80 water in a spray bottle to wet the coco surface and mist the plant with it too. it wont smell or do any damage at all but will kill any soft bodied insects as they breath through a membrane on their backs often and suffocate from the milk deposit. It will go straight through the coco too so no horrible stinky residue
@Ganjagrandaddy, thanks for the advice, yea I’m liking the coco compared to soil I just got the watering down I was still watering like soil up to a few weeks ago. Just waiting on some mesh pots coming today I’m going to try with my clones either way much better with coco.
Yes I been feeding CaMg+ which is organic base for soil but the bottle is almost done I feed usually 4ml per gallon throughout the grow. And will get some CalImagic once this bottle is done.
Adult Gnats I got under control they can’t fly far either to the floor to get squished or on the sticky pads it’s the young ones. I’m going to try the milk idea I recently used 9 parts water to 1 part alcohol and it literally destroyed spider mite population was only a few stragglers left and on another plus side it didn’t kill all my pistils on my flowering plant like insecticidal soap that killed barely any mites just pistils lol. So I totally believe and will try the milk lol thank you.
@Grnhead, thanks bud it’s a fun process found out some cool things along the way. So weird best weed I’ve ever smoked was on vacation in Jamaica called Columbian Gold (some really Skunk bud) and it turns out was one of the parent plants to Skunk No1 small world no wonder I like this particular skunk so much. Can’t wait to see what the lemon adds to it was a smelly one to
