Hello everyone, I’d like to introduce you to Dawn and Destiny. Both of which are round 2 of Do Si Dos for me. This story starts back 6 months ago when I started the original journal for Donna Jo (DSD round 1) befor she was flowered I had a friend ask me to clip a baby off her so friend could have the strain as well. No problem right.....well after the baby showed roots outta the peat puck she was transplanted into a travel size greenhouse and transported to friend. 4 Months had past by since dropping her off and I was curious to see how she turned out..... too my surprise I was told it’s done absolutely nothing since you dropped it off and that she was about to be tossed out..... not having the strain myself anymore I jumped on going to pick it up in hopes that I could bring it outta hibernation as it was still alive.
Story to be continued in next weeks journal........
Week 2 at a glance: transplanted from 1/2 gallon air pots to 3 gallon air pots. Changed from 600 watt true led light to 315w cmh. Introduced week 1 feeding schedule during this second week as I like to do straight phd and root stim water for week one.
Back to the story of how this strain made its return back Home....
......picked up the 2nd generation baby and too my surprise it was the exact same size as when I dropped it off 4 months ago.
Brought this little lady back home and started to wash away the soil around her original peat puck. Shocked to see she had not a single root more then when originally transplanted to mini greenhouse. I transplanted her into coco coir and a 1 gallon air pot. Put her on “life support” by feeding just root stim ph’d water and crossed fingers for the best. Roughly a week later there started to show signs of life, not only did I have nice lime green new growth in multiple spots but she was also flashing her newly developed roots out of multiple air pot holes. Not going to lie, I was a very happy camper to see progress as I felt I had saved this little lady at that point.
Skipping forward a few weeks she was fully healthy, outta hibernation, growing like she was trying to make up for the last few months lol. It’s been said that 3rd gen Babies produce the best harvests so I’ve decided to hold her outta flower too keep her as a 2nd generation mother giving myself as many 3rd gen babies as I want. Starting with the 2 daughters in this diary, Dawn and Destiny which got their names on Remembrance Day when they decided to show roots outta peat pucks that day.
**** Last picture this week is Mom ****
Halfway through week 3 I felt this little ladies were ready to start some training. When these babies were cut, they were cut so they had two starter branch to mainline with. Staked em down for a day at first and released the following day when stakes were re done to start pushing lead branches around the pots. Clipped a couple fan leaves off that were blocking new branches as they are the ones I want to be growing the most right now.
These little ladies may only stand 4-5” tall each on their last day in veg, but my plans is to restrict their height and focus on an even spread width wise.
Last picture this week was for a visual on a very inexpensive Co2 generator for a fellow grower.
First week of flowering was mostly transitioning these little ladies. Nutrients was a big change now that they get massive bloom and and of course the light schedule is down to 12/12. They’ve more then down in height this week which is easy to say when you flip into flower when their are only 5” tall 😀
They may only be 10” tall now but width wise is over 17” last I checked and I’m confident they are wider then that now.
As the dehum runs full time to maintain a low enough humidity level for these little ladies they have also found their appetite for nutes. With coco coir and air pots going the need to water more frequently then soil is Very present LOL.
Had to thin these girls out quite a bit as my tent is more populated then I’d like right now leaving minimal room for each plant to spread their wings. Ended up using tomato baskets to contain them into their confined spaces. I don't expect a high yield this crop so much as a variety to smoke while awaiting next crop.
Another week down! Couple days into this week started seeing the hairs turn colour. Dehum continues to run nonstop draining into a 5 gallon bucket in order to keep up with how fast water evaporates outta the coco coir in air pots.
Lazy points of the week: lack of watering care, zero rotation in tent, haven’t changed Co2 canister in over 2 weeks and if I’m being honest I just want this tent to clear out so I can start the cherry pie gorilla glue again. Can’t wait to have more cherry glue!
6 weeks down only a couple to go!
Strain is said to be an 8-10 week flower, last harvest of DSD was 8.5 weeks befor trichomes were ready to hang. Comparing last dsd to these two, I’d expect them to be on par if not slightly ahead of last timeline. Focus has changed to watching trichomes now until we see the right mix of milky and ambers.
Until next week!
Trichome watching week! End of week I’m happy we’re they are, leaning on the strong side already a week ahead of schedule. Possibly from the restricted growing area?! Either way I didn’t expect a big harvest for what I gave these ladies for space. Gave these 2 a complete coco coir wash until their run off water was sitting at 22-25 ppm. Tap water use for waste was 18 ppm, close enough for me.
2 DSD are back in the tent to dry out after wash at which point I’m considering blacking em out for a couple days befor harvest.
Last week befor harvesting these ladies. Beginning of the week was the end of their lights. Mid to end of week was blackout. Now we wait for em to hang dry.
