Blessings to all and thanks for checking me out. May All your harvests be of frost laden nugs. Transplant day. Originally popped 7, one failed to germ and one failed to Sprout properly.(she’s a “special” one) popped three more to pick one to fill the remaining pot. After a week and a 1/2 I put these 5 lil guys into pots, their roots were shooting out About 3 inches all over the tray. I see no shock as of yet, they’re growing happily and a lot faster since removing them from the germination tray. used a guide to load nutrients to 800 ppm for first week of veg but after research found 300 to be better so I diluted the res with RO water to around 500 PPM since that’s all the RO water I could get at the time. If they start to burn which I haven’t seen yet I’ll drop it down a bit more. Plant #2 looked a little off yellow, my PH may have been high in the germ tent, so I’ll continue to monitor.

noticed the ph in the Pots is at 6.5+, something to do with the Hydroton. In order to balance it i had to drop the res PH to 4.0, but it constantly rises back up to 6. Using RO water Suggestions appreciated, will the Hydroton eventually stop having the ability to raise my PH?

yes but it'll take time.probably longer than your veg time.I would try to keep it at 6 if so.Ideal ph for hydroponics.by the way, over time as you feed it,try to feed it some more if you are really concerned about pot ph not coming down, don't overfeed but nutrients you'll give will also drop ph so if it is 6 now, keep it no problem.

Hello, and welcome to my grow. To all viewing this may you wake up on harvest day to a bounty of some thick amazing stank! Had my first set of leaves lookin kinda weird, PH in the pots was high(6.5+), something to do with the Hydroton. So I lowered the Ph in my solution to around 4.0 at first and after a couple floods the drift isn’t as exaggerated, it’s sitting at 5.8-6.1. Phew, glad that’s fixed. Out in the desert it’s hard to maintain a decent humidity when the lights are on, I can hold it at around 45-55 so I may end up getting annother humidifier to help raise it just a bit more. Other than that bs last week these ladies are looking great, I’m getting decently fast growth and seeing progress daily! Super stoked they aren’t dead yet! Huzzah!

Topped them two days ago, don’t quite know how they’re responding to it yet. Seeing brown spots as well on some of the leaves. Other than that they look healthy, fattening up the stem and I can’t imagine how wild the roots are. but I’ve never seen a plant grow so short and stout, 4 1/2 inches at three weeks with nodes at less than an inch apart. Crazy. Well we shall see where this goes I intend to ScrOG these girls so let’s see what happens in the upcoming week!

So after using the nutrients to the schedule I found on dudegrows I ended up frying the plants a bit and pissing them off. They’re still growing like weeds though and the undergrowth is so dense I don’t know what to do with it. Adding Recharge & florablend ended up making my resevoir super slimy, and idk if I’m cool with that. This week I’m gonna try keep the EC low at .94, see how they react. Just gonna ride this thing out and let them veg till they start filling the screen.

feeding great on a really low EC at 0.8, but i see other grows at pushing 1.5 at the same week. im flooding (Oxygen Pot w/ hydroton) every 4 hours, which feels pretty often. are the amount of floods proportionate to the EC? ex. if i flood less then my ec should be set higher?

Flooding every 4 hours seems excessive, I would reduce the frequency to every 6 hours initially and assess the how the plants look at that point with your current EC, Keep in mine even though other grows are at the same week with a higher EC those plants could require different nutrient needs or can even tolerate higher nutrient needs than yours. Overall your plants look healthy and green, they are a little droopy but that might be resolved if you change the water frequency

Did some pruning, sent them into flower maybe two days ago. They are lookin real woke now. Except for plant three. A lot of it’s growth I think was sluggish and weak because of airflow, May prune some of the lower growing tops in hope that I can air her out a bit. Garden smells amazing. Stinky and sweet. Anytime I work in there I smell pretty dank afterwords.

At this point the garden feels a tad out of hand. I ask you pro growers and novices alike, what would you do? Defoliate and open up the canopy or let them ride? If I defoliate (I know there’s tons of guides on the web) but how much would you take out?

Hi, you have reached a point of grow, where LOOOTS of leaves appeared . Defoiliation is a looong theme... andI do it like .. as much as needed. So i clean up their "feet" that means the lower 30 percent of the Plant. I take away all leaves and small shoots. This iam repeating until around week 4 of flower. Especially the small shoots that cannot reach the surface were cut. And anything else depends in the RH. If the RH goes to high for flower and i cant reduce it with airflow, i cut fanleaves. Those leaves transpirate . So my goal is to let the miost leaves on the plant , but taking away everything thatholds her back from developing big bus // or staying healthy( mold). So its always a question of growingstyle and setup. And so you have to find your Style that fits to you and your setup. More in the comments

Thanks for stopping by! They don’t wanna stop stretching but that’s a-ok, you do ya thang girl. Buds are formed, and she’s starting to throw up trichs, not a lot but I see em for sure. Ran my finger across the trichromes on a fan leaf and lemme tell ya, it was a great smell... Skunk sweet with the tiniest hint of a citrusy diesel. I defoliated to the point where they were extremely thinned out, to the point where I was scared I took too much off and what happens 4 days later? Well they bounce right back and throw down annother thick canopy. Holy smokes. Blessings to you all and may your harvest glitter like diamonds!!

Added terpinator to the mix, found what appeared to be nanners on a SINGLE nug on plant 7, I pulled em, Did an extremely(hours long) look over of the plants to see if there were any other appearances. None. Just three bananas on that single nug. Fingers crossed I don’t have to chop her down early but we’ll see I don’t mind since she was the tiniest of the bunch anyways. They are extremely frosty!!! I can’t be happier with the torch production but they don’t have mass as of yet. It is about midweek into week 5 since the flip to 12/12 and they only recently slowed stretching, hoping that they stopped but it is hard to tell so I’m really hoping that they start focusing on packing mass. The strain info says they’re done in 7-8 weeks so we’ll see how they stack up!!

There is nothing you can do to stop them from growing into the drain other than switching to a larger container. It looks like that would be a challenge at this point. I would look up some info on root pruning. Trimming a few roots won't hurt a healthy plant at all. I run Dutch buckets and roots grow out of the drain all the time. I just trim them off to keep the drain clear. The plants stay happy and healthy. When you grow big fat plants, you get big fat roots. Definitely a good thing. Good luck finishing them up!

Good news and bad news... Good first - the smell has hit a point where it is so strong it gives me nausea. The cool thing is every plant seems to have a slightly different smell And let me tell you, the sparkle coming of these trichs-it’s amazing!!! One smells almost like headband, another has some gassy diesel notes and the others are hitting this obnoxiously citrus smell that I can’t even begin to pinpoint. I’m speechless. They packed on some mass and the buds are swelling up and starting to look really huge. The calyxes on the buds are stacking inside of each other and no doubt the final product will have some real impressive density. Now the bad. The oxygen pot system didn’t have enough room for the roots. I’m talking there was some SERIOUS clogging. The pots themselves feature a gap between the pot and the actual drain and it’s supposed to facilitate air pruning. However, Air pruning my ass. I just ended up with a giant root ball in the gap. After rotating the pots 45 degrees everything was good, or so I thought. 3/7 of the plants are sprouting nanners!!! A few at first, now almost daily I’m plucking at the bastards. I’m sure the plant will get hit with pollen. The “girls” (should) only have a couple more weeks to go so I’m going to run them let them ripen and cross my fingers that my crop wasn’t absolutely ruined.

Feels like for some I’m getting down to the nitty gritty here and for others they could keep going for a couple weeks! The heat in my location is starting to get rough, daytime(night for plants) is getting to be around 80, since I live in a desert. I’m going to keep letting these girls push but the end must be near. I’m not finding an abundance of amber tricks, but I am finding that most of them are cloudy, with a few plants still vastly clear. They look done on the outside with one plants hairs completely rusting, but upon inspection with a scope there is still clear trichromes!!! One must be very patient to grow weed I seem to be learning. Fingers crossed hoping for ripening this upcoming week, trying to flush next week and harvest on the end of either week 8 or 9. Fingers crossed guy and gals it’s been a journey

Although the untopped “plant 6” provided me with the densest, most amazing yield of lemony citrus ganj, the other girls are pushing to the point of perfect harvest time, and I don’t want to fuck up their high by waiting to long, so flush will occur tonight, and the weekend will see a wet chop of all fan leaves and shake with a final harvest at the end of weekend. Wish me luck everybody, hoping I made the right choice to chop at 8 weeks!

These plants were an absolute pleasure to watch grow up. There is something about the cannabis plant that I find absolutely awe inspiring. The scents, the leaves, the beautiful growth patterns, and in this specific case the differences between skunk#1 phenotypes, a plant that I thought would show little to no variation showed a plethora of differences. The plants grew very well. it took me by surprise that plant 6, although vegged for 3 weeks less than its counterparts, produced 2.8 ounces of bud, as well as the largest single cola budsites of all the plants. Plant 5 produced a product that to me had the best scent, of mangoes and cheese, with an earth shaking effect. Anyways, here are the yield numbers: Plant 1 - 1.9 ounces Plant 2 - 4.0 ounces Plant 3 - 0.8 ounces Plant 4 - 2.8 ounces Plant 5 - 3.4 ounces Plant 6 - 2.8 ounces Plant 7 - 0.6 ounces I should also mention that because I got tired of trimming most of the plants did Yield much more buds of decent quality, but I’ll make hash out of that - leaving the high quality top flowers to cure. Roughly 12 years ago, I was a broke college student armed only with Jorge Cervantes grow bible, picking up random grow parts and building the most economical grow space I could. No PH balancing, terrible ventilation and sup par components granted me garbage yields and one plant whose buds were covered in white fuzzy mold. Gross. Fast forward to now - I make a decent living, and found a house with a space perfect for a little side hobby. In the past twelve years alongside the growth of the MMJ industry there has been an explosion of information all over the internet, and this has allowed me to put forth the best effort I could have, albeit from the abilities of a beginner. I cannot undervalue the kind support from this community, or how priceless having the abundance of knowledge around to help new growers like myself grow flowers of real quality. So to all of you reading and stopping by, thank you from the bottom of my heart! The love is appreciated and I hope to one day reciprocate ten fold to others who want to pursue the art of growing cannabis. One more time for those in the back, THANK YOU!!!

For somebody who claims he does not know what he is doing, your jungle is looking spectacular! I do not see anything that should concern you! Regarding defoliation: ask 10 people and you will get 11 different answers 😄 Personally I do not like removing leaves from a living being. But if there are really too many, simply remove the ones that are shadowing budsites. But only do it once flower has started, before it does not make sense. Just ensure good airflow so you do not catch mold. But given the state of your plants, I think you already have a very good feeling for their needs, so just follow your gut feeling. You definitely are on the right track!

xanado18
xanado18commented5 years ago
@MovingOn, you may have a point! this whole setup is new to me, so I'm trying different things and seeing how the plants react. In the meantime I'm gonna hold off on using any of those nutrients anyways. I burned my babies, even though the EC was at 1.2. It could have been the balance of the nutrients too I don't really know to be honest. anyways with the EC reading 0.94 they already seem happier after only two days. We'll see what happens in the coming few months!
MovingOn
MovingOncommented5 years ago
@xanado18, that's interesting that it made your root growth explode, because it is basically just microbes and molasses. Even though the molasses is enough to keep the microbes alive, they still need other food sources to actually poop out more nutes. Maybe the Florablend was enough of a food source, but I am assuming that Florablend is a nutrient system in itself. So basically the microbes are just eating the nutrients to just poop out the same nutrients. I bet if you actually did a side by side comparison of a plant with Recharge/Florablend and one with just plain Florablend, you wouldn't see any difference in rate of root growth. But that's just a guess, I don't really know, but always am skeptical about what people say works online, because I don't think anybody actually does side by side comparisons of clones. Oops, I'm rambling, ha. Good luck with the rest of your grow!
xanado18
xanado18commented5 years ago
@MovingOn, Right so it is for soil and I’m sure if I was actually doing soil I would probably love the stuff. Lotta info on the web says that if you make a gallon of recharge in RO Water and topfeed the plants in between floods once a day to every other day it works. And in my case yes it worked, root growth exploded but I didn’t think it was worth all the slime.

@Mrs_Larimar, As much as I would love to give the strain 10 stars, and say it was amazing there were problem phenos, 3 out of 7 of the plants sprouted nanners early and as I went through trimming I did find about 4 seeds. I also would have preferred honesty from the breeders “Finnish flowering in x amount of time.” According to them, I chopped more than two weeks late and yet even though I chopped when I did I wonder if it could have still gone longer. They keep growing more and more and are getting thicker and the smells are getting really defined though, so I’m still satisfied with the result. Whatever the reason they still are maintaining a very top shelf look - fat calyxes and some of the frostiest buds I’ve seen in a long time. We’ll see what happens, thanks for stopping by!

Love me a good defol haha mate everyone has an opinion on defoliation but like everything else what works for one guy might not for another and what someone tells you is nuts might create an absolute beast I always defol as I go but usually week before flower il do a big one and supercrop where possible and then again once flowers set sometimes my girls look bare but well they look beautiful again 2 days later

@xanado18,yeah sometimes my girls look pretty bare but within a week they look beautiful again Good luck man shore the girls will like and always remember that it's about experimenting with things whether its mediums or training ect as the best advancements in growing techniques have all come from people trying new things

@Seedtoweed, thanks for stopping by with the advice!!!! I went ahead and stripped most of everything off of 6 of the plants, left one as a “control” and didn’t pull much off of her, & I’m gonna see how it works. I’m out of town on buisness but I’ll post some pics up when I get back to my girls. But like you said they bounce back real quick!! Can’t wait to see how they bulk up in the next few weeks!

@@Darkwarsongs, that means a lot to me, as my first grow I've done a lot of reading on the internet, and it seems like for the most part there's a lot of different advice - left or right kind of stuff - and I feel like that's the going rate with something that for the most part (in most places) is still illegal lmao. just gonna do what my gut instinct tells me to do and see where this goes!

Looks great. What size tent is that? I am using Migro 300, and 2 bestva. One Bestva 3000 and one Bestva 2000. The temp gets too high so I'm ordering 3 more Migro and using a Migro 600
