01/26/2020: -planted a germinated seed of Great Lake Genetics' Long Bottom Fighter F2 (Long Bottom Leaf pheno) for shits and giggles 01/28/2020: LBF F2 peaking out of the ground! 01/30/2020: Had a leaf clawing issue on the Five Star, I'm not exactly sure what could be causing it (no fan is blowing directly on it so It can't be wind damage, I've only watered it (ph 6, filtered water, there are drainage holes at the bottom of the cup) only when the top layer of soil is dry. Figured it was either root bound or nitrogen toxicity. -transplanted both Star Pupil and Five Star in 7gal pots, mix is 1:3 perlite to FF Happy Frog soil. -moved the humidifier directly inside the tent, that way I don't need to worry about condensation (from the hose) dropping on the floor.

After reading the grower's notes for the Five Star, she is apparently extremely sensible to nitrogen toxicity so that's probably why the clawing happened early on 02/03/20: watered the Five Star and Star Pupil well (~1gal each) with filtered water to try and flush some of the nitrogen out 02/04/20: looks like the Five Star is bouncing back! 02/08/20: Overall the plants look good! -transplanted the Long Bottom Fighter (LBF from now on) into a 3gal pot and watered her nicely -watered well both Five Star and Star Pupil. 02/09/20: Topped both Star Pupil and Five Star above the 4th node (waited for the 6th node before topping)

The Star Pupil and Five Star are responding quite well to last week's topping, the FS is starting to take off! 02/11/2020: - watered the LBF with filtered water, PH at 6.3, about 0.5gal. - Got the trellis setup inside the tent 02/12/2020: - watered the SP and FS with filtered water, PH 6.5, about 1gal each. - Tied the 2nd node's branches down on the Five Star (LST) - moved the trellis down to about 8" from the soil' surface, just need the plant to grow a bit more to start ScrOGing! 02/14/2020: Ordered 2 ChilLed Logic LED pucks from Rapid Led, running on a HLG-320-2100c to replace my current Viparspectras, I will be adding a 3rd puck once I sell my current lights 02/15/2020: Watered the LBL with filtered water, .5gal, 6.5PH

02/16/2020: I'm surprised how thick the stalk of the Star Pupil and Five Star are getting and the "FS" is taking off! - watered the "SP" and "FS" with ~1gal of filtered water each, PH 6.5 - adjusted the LST on both plants. Broke a branch on the Star Pupil, hopefully the fix will work. 02/17/2020: some of the leaves are clawing heavily, not sure what's causing it. - Topped a 2nd time the Star Pupil and moved the light higher to make her stretch a bit. 02/18/2020: Finally got my new lights (2x ChilLED Logic puck V3 (Growmau5) running on a 320W Meanwell driver, buying the 3rd puck in a week) - built and installed them new lights! - moved the tent so I can open all 3 sides (will make working around the ScrOG a lot easier) - LST'd the Star Pupil some more - Topped the "LBF" 02/21/2020: the Star Pupil still doesn't look great and it doesn't look like she's growing much anymore. - watered both "SP" and "FS" with tap water (trying to get some sort of calcium input), PH 6.6, 1gal each, Fox Farm Big Bloom 15mL/gal 02/22/2020: talked to someone else growing that strain (and other Mass Medical Strains) and she's having the same problem on one of the plants. The breeder says it's one of the weird mutation of the strain.

02/24/20: - watered the "LBF", 0.5 gal tap water, PH 6.55, 7.5ml FF Big Bloom and 7.5ml FF Grow Big 02/25/20: the "FS" is starting to droop pretty badly not sure why, she's not underwatered nor overwatered - watered the "SP", 1 gal tap water, PH 6.55, 2ml TPS AOC CalMag, 15ml FF Big Bloom - watered the "FS", 1 gal tap water, PH 6.55, 1ml TPS AOC CalMag, 15ml FF Big Bloom - LST on the "SP" - removed a couple of leaves off of both "SP" and "FS" 02/28/20: the Five Star is still drooping, and I think signs of phosphorus deficiency is starting to show on the Star Pupil. (I guess 7gal of FF Happy Frog can last quite a while without needing to add extra nutes) - removed the branch ties to start filling the scrog net. 03/01/20: the Five Star isn't drooping as bad as before but still not sure what was/is causing it. Both the SP and FS are starting to fill the scrog net nicely! - watered the "SP" (~1.6 gal), "FS" (~1.6 gal) and "LBF" (0.8 gal), PH 6.55, filtered, 15ml/gal of FF Big Bloom, 10ml/gal FF Grow Big and 2ml/gal TPS CalMag AOC

03/02/2020: built a new trellis with a PVC frame, making the net stretch less. 03/03/2020: -Installed the new trellis, it's much sturdier. - HST on the Star Pupil, bent the 4 "main" branches to start tucking them under the net, trying to spread her out as she's growing very bushy 03/05/2020: Preflowers on both the Star Pupil and Five Star show they are female (should be, they are both feminized seeds), the LBF might be a male (still waiting a bit since the regular seed got planted 2 weeks after the other 2) - watered all 3 plants, Filtered water, PH ~6.6, 15mL/gal FF Big Bloom, 1mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC 03/08/2020: the Five Star is already filling 80% of her half of the net

03/09/2020: - watered all 3 plants, PH 6.5-6.7, filtered water, 15mL/gal FF Big Bloom and 2mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC. Also gave them 5mL/gal of FF Tiger Bloom in the last gallon to try and give her some phosphorus and Potassium without adding too much nitrogen. - defoliated the "LBF F2" a little bit to increase air flow. 03/12/2020: - watered all 3 plants, PH 6.5-6.7, filtered water, 15mL/gal FF Big Bloom, 5mL/gal FF Tiger Bloom and 2mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC. ("SP" and "FS" got 2gal. each, "LBF F2" got 0.75gal.). - preflowers on the "LBF F2" are starting to show up, it looks like it might be a male (gonna wait a few more days). Over the week, weaving branches and leaves through the ScrOG net every day, and LSTing them when needed.

03/16/2020: First day of flowering! - watered all 3 plants ("SP" and "FS" 2 gallon each, "LBF" 0.75 gallon), filtered water, PH 6.4-6.5 (it should have been between 6.0 and 6.2 per feeding recommendation), 9mL/gal of TPS-One (trying this new 1-part liquid, full cycle nutrient solution) and 1.5mL/gal o f TPS CalMag AOC. - Defoliated most of what was under the net. - split the main stem on the Star Pupil trying to spread her out (she's super bushy) but was able to tape her up and provide support using a twisty-tie. 03/18/2020 - lowered the lights 2" 03/21/2020: the "SP" is starting to spread out a tiny bit! - watered all 3 plants ("SP" and "FS" 2 gallons each, "LBF" 0.5 gallon), filtered water, PH 6.15 (feeding schedule recommends 6.0-6.2 at this point), 10mL/gal of TPS-One and 1mL/gal of TPS CalMag AOC. - moving branches and tucking more leaves. - I still can't tell for sure if the Long Bottom Fighter F2 is a male or a female. - the Five Star is showing sign of heat stress, moving the lights back up 2"

03/23/2020: The Long Bottom Fighter F2 is a male. I figured id experiment with it a bit, so I defoliated it heavily, only keeping the last 2 nodes worth of leaves. 03/25/2020: - Watered all 3 plants, 11mL/gal of TruePlants' TPS-One, 1mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, filtered, PH 6.15 (as recommended by the feeding schedule). Star Pupil and Five Star got 2 gallons each, the "LBF" F2 got 0.5 gallon. - Took the "LBF" F2 out of the tent to increase air flow under the canopy (and it's a male). Put it on the balcony, see how she does in this Chicago "spring". - Received an order from Great Lake Genetics, bought a 7-pack, feminized, of Kastu Pupil (Mass Medical Strains). The frebies that came with it are: Putang Nevil Chem, Putang x Cake Fighter, Death Star x Apollo 13 F4, Kashmir x Sunshine Day Dream x Acopolco Gold. 03/26/2020: The Five Star is outgrowing the scrog net, might want to veg her for 6 weeks instead of 8 next time I run this strain. The Star Pupil is doing great tho, stretching her more and more while tucking them leaves, the 2 broken branches also recovered nicely! 03/29/2020: - Watered all 3 plants, 12mL/gal of TPS-One, 1mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, Filtered water, PH 6.1. The Star Pupil and Five Star got 2 gallons each, the "LBF F2" for 0.5 gallon - spent a while tucking leaves on both "SP" and "FS", as well as cut down a couple of the leaves on the "SP" to increase air flow and bring light to some of the smaller offshoots.

04/01/2020: The Star Pupil is starting her purple fade! - raised the lights 1" as the tops start growing - defoliated both plants to increase airflow and light penetration to the inner growth 04/02/2020: - watered all 3 plants, filtered water pH: 6.15, 1mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, 12ml/gal TPS-One. the "SP" and "FS" got 2 gallons each, the LBF F2 got 0.5 gallon. 04/03/2020: -installed reflectors from Elevated Grow to my LED pucks - noticed the Star Pupil is starting to claw and looks darker green, I'll have to cut down on the TPS-One feed next watering to prevent more Nitrogen excess. 04/05/2020: took the pics after defoliating and watering so she looks a bit sad - defoliated the plants heavily. The Star Pupil was so bushy it need it, went a little bit less heavy on the Five Star as she's a lot less compact. Also removed most of the new growth below the ScrOG net. - watered both plants, filtered water pH: 6.15, 1mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, 10mL/gal TPS-One. 2 gallons each.

Flowering Days 22 to 28 04/06/2020 (F22):. Installed a sensor from Mendel Sensors, it logs temperature, humidity, VPD and luminosity. I'm seeing a huge difference between my Inkbird humidity controller and my 2 other hygrometers, so this sensor allowed me to confirm that my Inkbird needed recalibration.. It's really neat being able to see how temp and RH fluctuates throughout the day/week/month/quarter. 04/08/2020: noticed a few leaves clawing on the Star Pupil so I'm feeding her less nutes (8mL/gal instead of 12) - watered all 3 plants: filtered water, pH ~6.1, 1mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, 8mL/gal TPS-One. Star Pupil and Five Star got 2 gallons each, the "LBF" F2 got 0.5 gallon. - cleaned up the bottom of the plants, removing the micro nugs forming. 04/10/2020: The Star Pupil is really starting to fade darker and darker! 04/11/2020 (F27): Looks like the Star Pupil is recovering nicely from the Nitrogen excess from last week's feedings. - watered all 3 plants: filtered water, pH ~6.1, 1mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, 8mL/gal TPS-One. "SP" and "FS" for 2 gallons each, "LBF" F2 0.5 gal. - a little bit more cleanup and tucking bigger leaves if they cover bud sites.

Flowering Days 29 to 35 04/14/2020 (F30): - watered both plants (letting my male go) with just filtered water, pH 6. Not using any nutes this time as a mid-flower flush. 2 gallons each - did one last defoliation on both the Star Pupil and Five Star, they grew out new leaves very quickly since the last defoliation so I needed the canopy to be less dense for light penetration to the lower buds and for air flow. The Star Pupil got defoliated a lot more heavily as she grew very very bushy and compact. This will be the final defoliation, for real this time! - re-adjusted my sensors and their cables so they aren't in the way of the lights. 04/16/2020 (F32): we've been getting cold days so the temp at night drops to 62-63F, doesn't look like it's affecting the plants. 04/17/2020 (F33): - watered both plants with filtered water, ph 6.15, 1mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, 8mL/gal TPS-One, 2.25 gallons each. - added a small dehumidifier to the tent to start stabilizing room humidity under 50, and start going down as we get later into flower.

04/20/20: the smell is finally starting to get pretty noticeable, I was starting to get worried. Also ordered a 2nd LED light from RapidLed and a 2nd Mendel Sensor to build a 2nd tent (420 deals were nice, 15% and 42% off respectively), I'm thinking of using it as a veg tent but the light I ordered can be configured to a full-cycle grow. - watered both plants, 2.25 gallons each, filtered water, pH ~6.1, 8mL/gal TPS-One and 1mL/gal CalMag AOC 04/22/20: Received some new nutes I ordered from TPS: the Signal which helps with flower density and enhances terpene synthesis, the Silica Gold which provides stress support and improves plant defenses and their LiquidSoil Remediator which is a biologic and enzymatic soil cleanser that you use in the last 2 weeks of flowering and would allow you to reuse your soil right after harvest. I'm very happy with TPS-One and their CalMag so I decided to try their other products, pretty excited to see the results even tho I'll be using them for the last 2-4 weeks. 04/23/20: the Five Star smells very cheesy, but like a stinky french cheese! Also noticed signs of Magnesium deficiency starting to show up on the Five Star a couple days ago so I'll bump the amount of CalMag from 1 to 2mL/gal. - watered both plants, 2.25 gallons each, filtered water, pH -6.15, 8mL/gal TPS-One, 2mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, 2mL TPS Signal and 2mL/gal TPS Silica Gold. 04/24/2020: noticed a bunch of spring-tails on the top layer of soil, I've been drying the trimmed leaves and crunching them into a powder than dumping that on top of my soil. I was told springtails were sign of healthy soil, so it's great to see it happen! 04/26/2020: - watered both plants, 2.25 gallons each, filtered water, pH -6.15, 8mL/gal TPS-One, 2mL/gal TPS CalMag AOC, 2mL TPS Signal and 2mL/gal TPS Silica Gold. This ends Week 6 of flowering, I'm starting to plan out the harvest to make it as smooth as possible (gathering all the tools needed, etc...) I can't believe the LBL F2 male is still alive! It's been exiled on the balcony 4 weeks ago, got hit by a snowstorm last week, and a frost wave the week before that!

04/27: - found some white "mold" on the top soil of my Star Pupil. After researching it, I'm pretty sure it's mycelium that developped from the mycorrhizae that's in the TPS-One nutrients and the layer of mulch (I've been top dressing my soil with trimmed leaves, after they've been dried and crunched up). Apparently it's a sign of the soil being healthy! - received and assembled a 2nd 2x4 light from RapidLed for my veg tent (still gotta order it) 04/28: With the weather getting better and warmer, the temp in my tent reached 88F, to try to get the tent cooler I added a piece of duct to push the air outside of the room. I'll get the driver out of the tent in the next few days. 04/30: Starting to taper down my nutes before starting to just feed water with the Five Star (the Star Pupil takes an extra week to finish). I'm trying this LiquidSoil Remediator from TPS, apparently it allows you to reuse your soil right after harvest. From what I read it uses different bacterias to strip your soil from salts and jumpstarts digestion of old roots. You feed 5mL/gal for the last 2 weeks of flower, harvest and remove the root ball near the stem, transplant a new plant and feed another 5mL/gal during the first week of veg and keep feeding TPS-One. I guess we'll see how it goes! - watered the Star Pupil with 2.25 gallons of filtered water, pH ~6.1, 6mL/gal TPS-One, 2mL/gal Signal, 2mL/gal Silica Gold, 2mL/gal CalMag AOC. - watered the Five Star with 2.25 gallons of filtered water, pH ~6.1, 6mL/gal TPS-One, 2mL/gal Signal, 1mL/gal Silica Gold, 1mL/gal CalMag AOC, 5mL/gal LiquidSoil Remediator - re-wired my LED light so I can pull the driver outside of the tent, to keep the temperature down inside. 05/01: The purple is really starting to pop on the Five Star, super surprised about it! 05/02: Started germination on new seeds for my next run, popped a Katsu Pupil and a Putang Nevil Chem, both from Mass Medical Strains. 05/03: - watered the Star Pupil with 2.25 gallons of filtered water, pH ~6.1, 6mL/gal TPS-One, 2mL/gal Signal, 2mL/gal Silica Gold, 2mL/gal CalMag AOC. - watered the Five Star with 2.25 gallons of filtered water, pH ~6.1, 6mL/gal TPS-One, 2mL/gal Signal, 1mL/gal Silica Gold, 1mL/gal CalMag AOC, 5mL/gal LiquidSoil Remediator

05/04: planted the germinated seed in solo cups for my next run! 05/05: not much going on, the buds are fattening up and the Five Star is showing more and more purple stripes on the leaves! - starting to check them trichomes, havn't seen any ambers on the Star Pupil (it has beautiful purple trichs tho!) but the Five Star is showing a few so I'll probably need to let the Star Pupil go an extra week. - also trimmed a couple of the old fan leaves off of the Five Star 05/06: - watered the Star Pupil with: 2.25 gallons of filtered water, pH 6.15, 6mL/gal TPS-One, 1mL/gal CalMag AOC, 1mL/gal Silica Gold, 2mL/gal Signal - watered the Five Star with: 2.25 gallons of filtered water, pH 6.45, 6mL/gal TPS-One, 1mL/gal CalMag AOC, 2mL/gal Signal, 5mL/gal LiquidSoil Remediator - chopped the LBF F2 male that's been exiled on the balcony for 5+ weeks now, before it starts throwing pollen around 05/08: spotted a few amber trichomes on the Star Pupil so I'll start the flushing process on her, I might be able to harvest her at the same time as the Five Star. 05/09: spotted more ambers on the Star Pupil, looks like she'll be ready on time! that will allow me to use the tent to dry both plants. - watered both plants with: 1.5 gallon each of filtered water, pH 6.45, 6mL/gal TPS-One, 2mL/gal Signal, 5mL/gal LiquidSoil Remediator. I'm using less water here to have less run off, the LSR needs warm water and 10-15% run-off to work well. Next week will be flushing with ph'd water before the harvest!

05/13: Starting the flushing process, only using pH'd water and some LiquidSoil Remediator from TPS in order to prep the soil for reuse (curious to see how well it works, if at all). - watered both plants with: 1.75 gallons each of filtered water, pH ~6.4, 5mL/gal LiquidSoil Remediator. 05/14: the humidity has been spiking at night due to the heavy rains earlier today, up to 71% RH during the night (lights off), this showed me how useless my tiny dehumidifier is ($35 Seavon unit). - the Five Star is showing more and more purple, it's crazy how quickly she's fading from light green to deep, deep purple. For some reason I had lower expectations on the Five Star compared to the Star Pupil at the start, but she's surprising me so much whereas the Star Pupil didn't turn out as well as I thought. I'm thinking about reveging the Five Star after harvest and grab clones now that I have the 2nd setup ready for a veg tent. -increased the airflow on my outtake fan to the max and added an intake fan at the bottom to get as much air flow as possible and lower the chance of mold/rot. 05/15: the humidity plateau'd at 70% RH again last night, super worried about getting bud rot because of it, and it really doesn't help that all the buds are super close to the point where they are touching and pressing against each other (it's real bad on the Star Pupil). - went through both plants to check if bud rot starts to develop. - trimmed a decent amount of leaves on the Star Pupil to try and increase airflow between the nugs. 05/16: lower RH at night but still plateau'ing around 65% - watered both plants with: 1.75 gallons each of tap water (unfiltered), pH ~6.4, 5mL/gal LiquidSoil Remediator, this is the final watering before harvest. - checked both plants again for signs of budrot or PM, we good! 05/17: another 70% RH night... - checked thoroughly the Star Pupil since she's the most bushy and super compact, still no sign of problems. I'm aiming to harvest both plants on Wednesday, the Five Star is ready to go today! plus I'd rather not wait any longer than I have to with the super rainy weather we've been getting all week. Imma need to find a way to lower my RH for real, and quite soon, as summer can get very humid here and Im trying to keep my electricity bill low so I don't plan on running the AC too too often. On the bright side, these 2 strains are way more mold and PM resistant than I expected, the breeder recommends those 2 for high humidity and outdoors.

--- These notes are for both the Star Pupil and the Five Star --- 05/18/2020: Harvest day! - Cut down the plant at their base, while still in the SCRoG net I flipped it and hung the net. With the humidity being high due to raining weather and most of the nugs touching each other I was worried about developing any kind of mold or rot so I ended up cutting up the plant to separate those nugs and dry correctly (having the plant in the net and flipped made it very easy to cut the different branches). - Did a very minimal defoliation, removing only the big fan leaves that were touching other leaves or nugs. - Hung into my new 2x4 gorilla tent, set up 2 fans (in a way that they don't blow air directly on the nugs) and set up a dehu and a humidifier controlled by an Inkbird so I could keep my humidity around 60%. 05/25/2020: Trim and cure day! I was aiming for a longer, slower dry but after 7 days, most of the branches felt ready for trimming and curing. Trimming dry went pretty smoothly Here are the final numbers: - Star Pupil: 75g of buds and 49g of larf+popcorn - Five Star: 137g of buds and 61g of larf+popcorn That's 322g, so about 1g/w!

--- See Star Pupil harvest post for details on the Five Star --- Overall, pretty easy plant to grow as long as you don't let her get root-bound at all, and watch out your levels of nitrogen as she's extremely sensible to Nitrogen.
