Day 22. She seems to have grown a lot last night.
Day 22. The leaves are still curling after giving her 8 hours of darkness.
Day 22 again. She seems to be better than before?
Day 23
Day 23
Day 23. She has exploded again and the leaves are looking better!
Day 23 again, looking much better to me
Day 24 top view
Day 24. She has grown again. Concerned she isn't big enough for LST and might miss the chance to do it on her.
Day 24. Leaves seem to get better each day since swapping light schedule to 18/6
Day 24 leaf close up
Day 25 top view. Continues to fill out. Leaves are still curled but not as badly
Day 25. I plan on watering her today. She is a bit droopy at the moment.
Day 25. Tacoing seems less intense now, hopefully she is recovering well.
Day 25, another side shot to keep an eye on the leaves.
Day 26, looking nice!
Day 26 a little closer
Day 26
Day 26 close up
Day 26 I think her new growth is looking healthy
Day 26 tried to get a better look at her structure but its tight in the bucket
Day 27 and she filled out lots since yesterday! Her branches has stretched outwards too!
Day 27 closer look. She is definitely a bit less compacted now. Do her leaves look healthy?
Day 27 closer side view. I feel comfortable trying to LST her.
Day 27
Day 27
Day 28. She stretched out more. I undid the LST and even after an extra day I would say its easier than yesterday if I tried again.
Day 28. Looking good to me, probably minor things that could be improved for healthier plant though.
Day 28, took her out to examine her. Looks ok. Wish she was more symmetrical but I think that was from the early stress I caused with lights and burns.
Day 28 side view out of bucket
Day 28.
Day 28, is this symmetry a bad sign that she is not evenly spreading out?

Last night was the first night of darkness. I swapped her to 18/6 schedule to try and fix the curling. If this shows no improvements by tomorrow again I will try to extend my grow space height to move the light away from her. I also gave her a drink for the first time since day 15. I used 1L of pH'd water around the edges of the pot. She hasn't shown any signs since I did that so I think it was correct to do so at the time.

Took her out of the bucket last night to try and decide if I should or could start LST. I gave her a little bend but it felt very much like she could snap if I pushed it so I left her upright. I really want her to spread out a bit more because currently she is so compact there is no way to help light get into the bottom areas of her. Going to leave her another week and try to reassess, I hope she doesn't stretch upwards too much though!

Decided after her stretch last night that I would try some LST. I started small and tied one tie around her base in the opposite direction I would be bending her to hopefully keep the stem secure. I bent the top over and secured one of the side branches off to the side as best as I could. I know there is still some growth under the top I bent over but would this be a big issue at this stage? Should I undo the LST?

I undid the LST. Decided to either let her grow out fully untrained or wait until it feels possible to manipulate her easier without damaging her. She has stretched out since yesterday but not so symmetrically unfortunately (see picture for day 28). I'm happy so far though for a first time. She is really starting to put out strong smells now for her size and weirdly skunky smells for a plant that isn't flowering yet.

Nute burn or deficiency?
Does it look like she is suffering from nute burn in the most recent pictures?

@Penguin, actually, you should not worry about anything. Really. This is your first grow. And for the first grow it looks better than my first experience. Do not give up and get upset. I will get yout first harvest.
Penguin week 7 started grow question 2 years ago
General concerns about the plant health and expectations from her.
Will nute burn have a big affect on my final yield? Are my buds likely to increase much in size? Leaves discolouring normal at this stage? Does she look likely to produce just popcorn bud at this point? Can I do anything about it? Also not many leaves on the plant?

A little nute burn won't affect your yield, but you are starting to lose leaves. Those leaves are what process nutrients to feed your flowers so losing a lot of leaves will lower your yield and quality. Your buds do have the ability to get much larger if the issues you have are corrected. The leaf coloring is not normal at this stage. And yes fortunately you can correct this and get her turned around. I saw that you just gave her a flush. This is definitely what she needed because I think your issues are from excess salts built up in your soil from all of the nutrients. After letting her dry out a lot then you want to feed only every third watering. So feed, water, water, repeat. This will help prevent nutrient and salts from building up around your roots. It also looks like your flowering stretch is about over so you want to back off the nitrogen as much as possible. The plant doesn't have much need for the grow big from here on. I would check out the fox farm feeding schedule and feed half the recommended dose on their chart every third watering. Also make sure you adjust the pH to around 6.5 to avoid other lockout problems. This should clear up your issues. Good luck finishing up your grow!

Just ordered a 150W Quantum Board, can I swap my Blurple UFO mid grow to the new board? Is it possible to increase flower size this late into a grow?
My Blurple apparently uses 230W actual draw but is advertised as 600W. If that 230W value is correct, does that suggest my new, much more expensive QB is not as good? Will it make a difference to the plants health? What are the benefits from the QB? Thanks!

I have a 150w quantum board from a chiness seller , it's a 3500k with UV and IR , it was supposed to replace my 2 50w ufo "burple" light that was just fine for flowering.
But I decided to plug both my quantum and my ufo's and the result is amazing because the "burple" light are bringing more blue to the spectrum that is giving me short internodes (except when I choose a high distance between the lights ans the plants , then it is stretching ) and the plant are shorter but bushier and like I said if you put the light higher then you will work on the height.

Stop talking bout me : What is the nenefits of a QB ? Better spectrum and basiclu the real full spectrum compared to the purple light ( mostly blue and red ) , they are producing less heat than the other light without using fans for heat disssipation which leans they are noiseless and the fact that they are emitting less heat can allow them to be placed lower in height. The QB are made of a lot of little leds that covers a bigger "area" than the others boards and so a better light repartition than a COB or a HPS that are more efficient in the middle than in the corners ( the light will reach the corners of the box easily ).
The QB wattage is also ALWAYS the real draw compared to the purple light so what you ordering is what you get.

It will make a difference to the plants health ( to me ) as the spectrum is a higher quality one with the QB and the light repartition is more efficient

Deficiencies at Day 60 or natural, expected fade?
Does my girl look like she is suffering from a deficiency or is it a normal fade for day 60 since sprouting? What can I do as she definitely has a while to finish I feel? Any estimates on how much longer she has before getting close to chop? See most recent comment for details.

Hi @Penguin it seems to me over-fertilization, phosphorus or potassium. there are certainly 2-3 weeks to go before it is ready, the buds will still get quite fat, wait about 5/6 days to feed it only with water, you can give a fattening booster and after a few days start making flush. good luck mate :+1:

First time testing PPM and slightly panicked :c
Runoff was at 2200PPM. I flushed her with 5L of pH 5.8 water. I got the runoff to 1000PPM where I left it. The pH was at 7 though and was higher than before the flush. Why is that? I always pH before watering. Also, is the flush going to cause trouble for her? I kind of panicked.

Hi there. First of all, according to your posts, you are growing in soil, so the pH should be between 6.0 and 7.0, not 5.8. Secondly, soil will buffer your pH, which is why our run off is higher. Third, soil runoff of 2200 PPM is quite low, rich soil mixes can have a run off as high as 10.000 PPM (I'm talking from experience); as the plant consumes the soil nutrients, the run off will drop weekly. If you flush the soil, you could end up with soil devoid of any nutrient for the plant to take in.

Optimal harvest time?
Optimal time to harvest? I can see a few amber trichomes but find it hard to tell the clear and cloudy apart in my best effort pictures. I'd love a stronger head high with couchlock being a secondary trait I'm looking for. Can I achieve this by harvesting at a certain time?

Well you want fewer amber trics at the expense of having some clear still around.
Looks like another week, still more clear than one would like on board.
If you are already in flush you timed it well. If not now would be good

@Penguin, best decision to let her grow as she should )))

@Afterglow, ah damn man, I'm not going to be back home until early morning. You think it would be too late now then? To be honest, I'll let her grow out naturally for my first grow then. I really should use it as an opportunity to learn the plant and what to look for to keep her healthy. I'm not bothered too much about yield right now, I would rather get a healthy plant to the end of the cycle and then use this knowledge on the next one. I definitely want to try topping after reading up on it though.

Yeah I looked at that diary, it looks amazing! I think I will try to increase my grow space after this grow so I have easier access to the plant and more space for her.

@Penguin, bad for autos when you do not know when she gonna start bloom. Tomorrow will be late. Look at linked diary )))

Looks like she got a bit heat or light stress with the leaves toccoing, what your temp and rh in you grow space at plant hight, could also be your fan is it directly blowing on the plant if so point it to blow off the side of your grow area, or move it above the plant not directly against it

@Penguin, yeah keep a check on the humidifier as if the pot fabric it will transfer water and the plant wind be getting the nutrients it needs as you wind be feeding enough, just remember to feed till you get a bit run off to stop salt build, and always pH and EC your feeds

@Shaunmc57, She is definitely looking better to me the day after the LST! I did some more this morning because she already spread out like you mentioned. Yeah the watering is my next thing to get to grasps with. It feels like forever since I actually watered her but she doesn't seem to be thirsty from those pictures? I'm convinced the humidifier is providing the sides of the fabric pot with enough moisture that it won't dry out... Does that seem like something I need to be careful of? And so far the RH barely gets to 50% so hopefully with that and the strong airflow the mold shouldn't be an issue (I hope)

Shaunmc57
Shaunmc57

@Penguin,when starting LST it doesn't look pretty but just keep going with it after a few days of tieing down branches she will just continue to grow wider and open up for more light to penatrate down , and for watering water when you soil is starting to dry but to water less than tomuch or you will cause root rot from not getting oxygen, when using the humidifier just keep a eye on you rh as when the plant start to get bigger and flowering it will cause mold as long as the rh is around 50 or below during flowering you will be fine
