Last night was the first night of darkness. I swapped her to 18/6 schedule to try and fix the curling. If this shows no improvements by tomorrow again I will try to extend my grow space height to move the light away from her. I also gave her a drink for the first time since day 15. I used 1L of pH'd water around the edges of the pot. She hasn't shown any signs since I did that so I think it was correct to do so at the time.
Took her out of the bucket last night to try and decide if I should or could start LST. I gave her a little bend but it felt very much like she could snap if I pushed it so I left her upright. I really want her to spread out a bit more because currently she is so compact there is no way to help light get into the bottom areas of her. Going to leave her another week and try to reassess, I hope she doesn't stretch upwards too much though!
Decided after her stretch last night that I would try some LST. I started small and tied one tie around her base in the opposite direction I would be bending her to hopefully keep the stem secure. I bent the top over and secured one of the side branches off to the side as best as I could. I know there is still some growth under the top I bent over but would this be a big issue at this stage? Should I undo the LST?
I undid the LST. Decided to either let her grow out fully untrained or wait until it feels possible to manipulate her easier without damaging her. She has stretched out since yesterday but not so symmetrically unfortunately (see picture for day 28). I'm happy so far though for a first time. She is really starting to put out strong smells now for her size and weirdly skunky smells for a plant that isn't flowering yet.
She is germinated. Will start bloom within 10-14 days.
@Penguin, best decision to let her grow as she should )))
@Afterglow, ah damn man, I'm not going to be back home until early morning. You think it would be too late now then? To be honest, I'll let her grow out naturally for my first grow then. I really should use it as an opportunity to learn the plant and what to look for to keep her healthy. I'm not bothered too much about yield right now, I would rather get a healthy plant to the end of the cycle and then use this knowledge on the next one. I definitely want to try topping after reading up on it though.
Yeah I looked at that diary, it looks amazing! I think I will try to increase my grow space after this grow so I have easier access to the plant and more space for her.
@Penguin, bad for autos when you do not know when she gonna start bloom. Tomorrow will be late. Look at linked diary )))
Looks like she got a bit heat or light stress with the leaves toccoing, what your temp and rh in you grow space at plant hight, could also be your fan is it directly blowing on the plant if so point it to blow off the side of your grow area, or move it above the plant not directly against it
@Penguin, yeah keep a check on the humidifier as if the pot fabric it will transfer water and the plant wind be getting the nutrients it needs as you wind be feeding enough, just remember to feed till you get a bit run off to stop salt build, and always pH and EC your feeds
@Shaunmc57, She is definitely looking better to me the day after the LST! I did some more this morning because she already spread out like you mentioned. Yeah the watering is my next thing to get to grasps with. It feels like forever since I actually watered her but she doesn't seem to be thirsty from those pictures? I'm convinced the humidifier is providing the sides of the fabric pot with enough moisture that it won't dry out... Does that seem like something I need to be careful of? And so far the RH barely gets to 50% so hopefully with that and the strong airflow the mold shouldn't be an issue (I hope)
@Penguin,when starting LST it doesn't look pretty but just keep going with it after a few days of tieing down branches she will just continue to grow wider and open up for more light to penatrate down , and for watering water when you soil is starting to dry but to water less than tomuch or you will cause root rot from not getting oxygen, when using the humidifier just keep a eye on you rh as when the plant start to get bigger and flowering it will cause mold as long as the rh is around 50 or below during flowering you will be fine
