MELs_Garden As always, thanks to CRAZY ROOTS for the support and everything because without you guys, it wouldn't be possible. So, we received a plant about 12 cm of Desert Diesel from Humboldt seeds. Hereโ€™s the rundown: โ€ข Plant type: clone โ€ข Genotype: 45% Indica / 55% Sativa โ€ข Cross: Amherst Sour Diesel x Emerald Mountain DAD (Diesel Afghan Diesel) โ€ข Recommended cultivation: Indoor and outdoor โ€ข Flowering indoors: 65-75 days โ€ข Indoor yield: 400-600 g/m2 โ€ข THC: 17-20% โ€ข CBD: 0.1% For growth, we will use: Lighting: Grow the Jungle 15w LED strips Homemade tent Substrate: Atami coco 2l pot It arrived here around May 5 in a little plastic cup asking for a transplant. On May 7, we transplant it into a 2l pot with Atami coco substrate. On May 8, we do the first watering with about 0.5l 0.2ml Roombastic + 1/1.5ml of calcium max pH 5.25/5.9 EC 0.66/0.97ms T h2O: 24.3/20.9ยฐC On May 9, we do an apical pruning and defoliate everything to perform a main-lining. May 14: from what we see, itโ€™s recovering from the cut and you can already see that the buds have gained some punch. It looks healthy and the environmental conditions, both temperature and humidity, are optimal. We continue doing family checks from time to time. May 16: the conditions we have remain the same and things are starting to pick up. ๐Ÿ˜

MELs_Garden Week 3 (From 24 to 30) We have been doing foliar feeds with 0.2ml โ€ข l of Rootbastic on alternate days, always at night. This week has been very hot, and taking advantage of the fact that the plant is now sturdy enough, weโ€™ve added an oscillating fan on speed 1. Day 26 Watering with water + 0.2 mlโ€ขl of Rootbastic + 0.16 mlโ€ขl of Mammoth P. pH 5.7 EC: 0.4ms T H2O: 21ยฐC Since this is our second harvest with coco and we donโ€™t know this plant very well, weโ€™re going to take it easy because I had over-fertilization issues during flowering, and this time I prefer to underdo it. Temperatures are around 27ยฐC at full performance with some peaks of 28ยฐC. The relative humidity is between 60/70%. Just to comment: โ€ข The intention was to do a main-lining starting with 2 tops, then 4... But to my surprise, the shoots are growing with such strength that Iโ€™ve decided to leave them and see how they develop. Iโ€™m impressed with the strength the shoots are gaining. โ€ข We are in the process of changing the grow location and weโ€™re a bit tied up. Weโ€™re taking notes and photos of our cultivation day by day, but thatโ€™s why the updates are delayed... weโ€™ll work hard to get back to our previous pace.

MELs_Garden Week 4 (May 31 to June 6) Here comes the good stuff. We now have the range of products we'll be using for the entire grow... And we'll be using the Cyco platinum range. 05/31 Watering with almost 0.5l 0.5 silica + 0.5 upt + 1 B1 + 1 zyme + 0.5 repair + 0.2 Rootbastic + 0.6 Grow A and B PH 5.8 EC >1ms T H2O: 21ยฐC The charts we'll be using won't be from Cyco but rather the custom charts from toni 13 for Cyco. We're back to LST on all the branches and defoliating leaves; we didn't want to make a move until we saw how things were going. The branches have thickened a lot, so we're training a bit more and making another cut; it looks like it's going to be a show. June 4 We're watering again with about 0.5l, a bit more. 0.5 silica + 0.5 upt + 1 B1 + 1 zyme + 0.5 repair + 0.2 Rootbastic + 0.9 Grow A and B PH 5.84 EC 1.2 ms T H2O: 20ยฐC We're taking the opportunity to raise the nutrient levels a bit and add diatomaceous earth to the watering. Today we probably made the "last" apical cut on all the tips. We defoliated the large leaves and reorganized the LST. We've made it unrecognizable, and even though it looks like this now, I hope it recovers well in a few days and shows a nice change. Next week, we might transplant it into a final pot, depending on how it evolves, but there's no rush. (All watering references are in mlโ€ขl)

MELs_Garden Week 5 (June 7 - 13) It's recovering and we're training it. Today, June 11, we're applying sulfur as a preventive measure and as a remedy against thrips and other pests. We'll continue this process until everything is free from any pests or fungi. We're also doing some watering. Tomorrow we'll transplant and reorganize the LST. June 13 We switched to a 5.5L pot. We loosened the LST so it can stretch a bit more and not have to strain so much after the transplant. We did a light watering to help it settle in. This time we used A+B from Advanced Nutrients (2ml โ€ขl) + 0.2 Rootbastic + 0.2 Silica power (BAC) pH 5.8 EC 1.1ms Th20 22ยฐC Changed rooms with a 315w LEC light running at 165 for now. You'll see the change the plant will undergo with the light switch and the transplant.

MELs_Garden WEEK 6 (June 14 - 20) June 14 5 hours with the sulfur burner to keep smashing the thrips and other pests/fungi. June 15 We did a foliar spray with 1.5 mlโ€ขl of neem oil + 13 mlโ€ขl of Spruzit. We continue the battle against pests. The temperature is between 21/22.7ยฐC with the light on (better than we expected at this point) humidity is stable around 60% and we have the LED running at 165w. We're still letting her do her thing but she's fully recovered from the transplant, training starts tomorrow. ๐Ÿ˜† June 18 We did LST on all the shoots. Everything else is good.

MELs_Garden Week 7 (From June 20 to 26) We're back with updates; apologies for not doing daily updates, we're busy with a new project so we'll probably do all the follow-ups weekly. June 21 We watered with just water, we want the plant to take advantage of all the nutrients left in the substrate. PH 6.2 Ec: 0.2ms Th2O 23ยฐC June 23 She's growing like a champion, some shoots we didn't expect have gained a lot of strength so the amount of buds will be greater. She's growing a lot and drinking quite a bit, honestly in a week she's practically eaten the pot. We'll have to do a transplant to a final pot to finish training her because she doesn't fit in the 5.5l one. ๐Ÿ˜‚

MELs_Garden From July 5 to July 12 Hello everyone, another week has passed. Things are progressing well and this will be the last week we update only once a week; we'll return to daily updates. We continue with our LST daily. July 8 and 9 We used the sulfur burner for about 5-6 hours as a preventive measure against possible pests. July 10 After the LST training, we approximately achieved the shape we were looking for, so today we did some pruning (quite severe). We pruned some branches that had split and all the nodes that are horizontal. The intention is to move them to flowering next Monday, the 13th, but as always, we will wait to see their reaction and how they are doing. The temperatures are very good compared to what I hear about the indoor setups around me and from other growers. We have about 25 - 26ยฐC with a max of 27.8ยฐC and a minimum in PDF of 23ยฐC. Get ready because the good stuff is coming. July 11 We foliar fed with 1 ml of neem oil + 10 ml of Spruzit + 1 ml of a product we were given to try as a preventive and insecticide. From this same liquid, we flooded the tray a few centimeters to perform an absorption watering. Why? Because thrips feed on the surface but live in the soil, and many of them are at the bottom of the pot, so these little bugs won't have an escape. My battle with them has been going on for a while, and I want to keep them in check.

MELs_Garden From July 20 to 26 Change of room and everything is going well (a bit of heat). Yesterday we removed some leaves and the smaller lower shoots. Right now it's in a 0.8ร—0.8 m cabinet, 3 Grow the Jungle 15w LED strips, a VDL dehumidifier, and a fan. We have the VRK extractor set up for the exhaust, and right now the intake is passive. For now, we'll leave it there for another week until it gains more height, but we'll see. Hehehe July 21 We watered with soil using 1L. 1 vitamax + 2.5 Bud fuel pro + 2 bloom fuel + 0.16 Mammoth P + 0.3 silica power PH: 5.7 Th20: 24.5ยฐC Ec: 1ms July 22 At this rate, maybe next week we'll switch to flowering, the shoots are between 10 and 20 cm. We're aiming for the shortest shoot to be between 20 and 25 cm to switch to flowering. The temperatures are still quite high, averaging around 28ยฐC, hopefully, it rains soon Hahaha July 23 Foliar watering with diatomaceous earth as a preventive measure. July 24 On one hand, we have some white residue from the diatomaceous earth, but nothing serious, we removed it with a brush and let the rest do its job. Today we watered, we tried the blue chicks. Watering with approximately 1.5L of water + 0.08g of vegetative growth booster from Grotek. PH: 5.6 EC: 0.2ms Th20: 23.5ยฐC They say these powders work really well, we'll see how it goes. July 26 Today weโ€™re running the sulfur burner for about 5 hours as a preventive measure. We're still in the same situation as always, I wanted to switch it to flowering tomorrow, but given the circumstances, we'll give it one last week to achieve a good size. We removed some drainers and did a foliar watering with Delta Nine using 4.5mlโ€ขl. Temperatures around 27ยฐC and humidity between 55/65%. We've seen some signs of calcium deficiency, so this week we'll be increasing the nutrients.

Hi there MELs_Garden! After switching to flowering (12/12 in most cases), plants are expected to double height and probably quadruple volume, so expect a lot of growth and lots of lovely leaves and bud spots. Amazing plant, I have to say, as is, if you switched to 12/12 now, it will probably overfill your tent, but as always, is better to be safe than sorry so at least a week of extra growing will ensure you have room to do some nice defoliation where needed and still have a huge plant with lots of buds sites. Really looking forward to your next weeks of progress!! Happy smokes!

MELs_Garden From July 27 to August 2 This is definitely the last week of vegetation. Today we did a watering with about 1.5L and 8g of kraken mycorrhizae to encourage the little one to eat more. We also freed up a branch today, changing the LST pattern. July 28 It's asking for nutrients, but since the kraken can't be mixed with anything other than water, we'll have to wait for the substrate to dry a bit before giving it a good watering. Other than that, everything is looking pretty good. July 29 Some leaves have shown a bit more calcium deficiency, tomorrow we'll do a watering to correct it and add nutrients; for now, we removed some very marked leaves. We took off all the LST, as you can see in the photos, and set it up again but opening the plant more outward so the branches don't bother each other. This Monday, we're switching to 12 hours, no matter what, so we'll do everything we can to help them grow and not interfere with each other. July 30 Today it's 39ยฐC outside, 30ยฐC in the room. We did a watering with about 1.5L: 1 A+B grow from Advanced + 2.5 Bud fuel pro + 2.5 bloom fuel + 1 vitamax pro + 0.3 silica power from BAC + 1 cal max + 0.2 Rootbastic pH 5.9 EC 1.4ms Th20 23ยฐC July 31 We did a small defoliation of leaves and small shoots that have no future, but very minimal. As of today, we realize how well the blue powders are working; there's much more vigorous growth and a different branching pattern. I can't wait to switch it to 12 hours. On the other hand, it's starting to show more hunger and will need more frequent waterings. (Is it the heat and the kraken effect?) August 2 Today we did a watering with about 2L. 1 solo tec + 2.5 bud fuel pro + 2.5 bloom fuel + 1 vitamax pro + 0.3 silica power from BAC + 1 cal max pH 5.8 EC: 1.3ms Th20: 23ยฐC We consider the vegetative phase concluded. Switching to 12 hours and changing the light. Initially, we'll put it under 2 LED Jackson 150w lights from Grow the Jungle. I can't wait to see how this evolves in flowering. ๐Ÿ˜Š

MELs_Garden Week 0 From August 3 to 9 We're in week 0, which will be the first since switching to 12h. The temperatures are great, and the LEDs are helping a lot. We're at 26ยฐC when ON and about 24ยฐC when OFF. We noticed that the last watering might have been too strong, so we took the opportunity to do several things. โ€ข The plant has 0 signs of pests, no bites or anything.. it seems the preventatives have worked well, but we're not letting our guard down. We sprinkled the top layer of the substrate with diatomaceous earth and moistened it. Since the substrate had already gone down quite a bit, we added a layer of substrate (monkey soil coco) and repeated the sprinkling. โ€ข We did a watering with almost 2l. We used 0.16 Mammoth P + 1 calmax pH 6.2 EC: 0.4/0.6ms Th20: 23.5ยฐC โ€ข Today we released the entire LST system. The idea is as follows: let it rest for a day so it can stretch a bit and then place them in their final position. It seems to have a pine shape, and each branch is taking that shape, so I want to stretch it a bit to give them space. August 5 Weโ€™re doing LST again, but this time with iron staples, taking the opportunity to leave it in position. While we were training it, we broke the central stem.. August 6 We see that itโ€™s positioning better, and we took the opportunity to remove some leaves and a small bud. Today the heat returned, but we managed to stay around 28.5ยฐC max. The humidity is high, around 70%. August 8 Today we moved the buds a bit to reduce shadows. We took the opportunity to do a watering with 1.5l using 5mlโ€ขl of Delta 9 pH 6.01 EC: 1.2ms Th20: 26.6ยฐC The heat continues, and weโ€™re managing the conditions more or less. 28ยฐC and 66% humidity. This watering of Delta 9 will do wonders; you can see how the buds on each branch are still stretching to find their place for flowering. Plus, the plant in general has bulked up quite a bit in terms of stem and stronger branches. August 9 We finished this week of drilling. Weโ€™re still dealing with the heat and humidity; in that sense, it was a bad day. The temperature hovered around 28ยฐC with a max of 30 and a minimum of 24.5ยฐC (when OFF)*. The humidity has been around 60/70%, and we hope the conditions improve as the flowering progresses. Today we did the last preventative, about 6h with the sulfur burner, and after ventilating for a while, we did a foliar spray with 15ml spruzit + 2 neem oil + 2 a test product. The feelings are tremendous, and honestly, weโ€™re taking it with a lot of excitement because itโ€™s looking beautiful and responding like a little warrior. The game has started, friends; from now on, the good stuff begins.

MELs_Garden Week 1 From August 10 to 16 August 10 We watered with water and 1ml of calcium and another of magnesium with a pH of 6 and an EC of 0.9ms at a temperature of 24ยฐC. We do this to avoid future problems and to ensure they take full advantage of the nutrients in the substrate. I think the photos look pretty good; they are already sexed, and their potential is incredible. There are sprouts that are practically plants. What I have noticed is that with these LED panels, the stretching is much more reduced than with other lights. August 12 We raised the light about 20 cm. August 14 We watered with nutrients with about 2.5l. 0.1grโ€ขl of Blossom Blaster + 2 Bud Fuel + 1 Vitamax + 1.3 Solo Tek pH 5.7 EC: 1.2ms Th20: 24.5ยฐC It's immense, and I might do some branch pruning today, leaving only the ones that get direct light. It's very healthy and powerful. We'll gradually raise the EC level as we see how it evolves. August 16 We finished this first week and are very happy with the results. I haven't made any moves yet, but I'll do something with it soon, probably pruning. The temperatures are still a bit high, but they are dropping and stabilizing a bit; the humidity has decreased, and we're at 62%. Let's see if we can fix the dehumidifier.

As you can see, there is quite a bit of plant material. Would you do any more pruning, and most importantly, do you think the future buds will fit in there, or should we keep training the branches?

I'm thinking about pruning, what would be the most recommended? Should I prune all the shoots that don't get direct light? Should I put in a net with small squares and let the shoots position themselves? Or should I just leave it as is?

Cut all the fan leaves that are not getting light or are blocking light to bud sites. Never cut more than a third of your fan leaves.

MELs_Garden Week 2 From August 17 to 23 August 17 We did the much-needed defoliation. We removed the leaves that were in the way and also many shoots from the bottom that weren't getting enough light. We'll see how the pruning affects it and hope it doesn't stress too much. August 18 It seems to be recovering well from the defoliation, and we're going to give it more fuel to keep it going strong. Watering with about 2.5/3 liters, it was thirsty, and we watered without holding back. 2 solo tek + 1 vitamax pro + 2 Bud fuel pro + 0.1 blossom blaster + 2 bloom fuel PH 5.8 EC: 1.5ms Th20: 23.5ยฐC We raised the LED panel a bit. August 20 Due to the high temperatures and humidity (even though last week we had a max of 62% and a min of 44%), we found some fungus gnats, so we put yellow traps, one on each plant. We're going to wait for the pots to dry out well to avoid these problems. To top it off, we sprinkled diatomaceous earth on the top layer of the substrate to eliminate any potential larvae. August 22 After these days, the pot is dry again, and I'm sticking to my usual approach, taking it easy, so we'll do a watering with water. 0.16 Mammoth P + 1 vitamax pro + 0.6 final solution (catalysts to activate enzymes that better utilize the leftovers and dead roots) PH 5.9/6 EC: 0.3ms Th20: 22ยฐC

MELs_Garden Week 3 From August 24 to 30 We're continuing with this third week. Things are heating up. August 26 We noticed that the triple cheese had some spider mites, and we immediately sprinkled diatomaceous earth on top. When moving it, some leaves got a bit stained, but we're not worried; in fact, it's beneficial for the plant against pests, but that explains the white spots on some leaves. August 27 We see that the soil is well dry, and we watered with about 3.5 liters; it was thirsty. We split the watering into about 4 batches. 2 bud fuel + 2 solo tek + 1 bloom pro + 1 vitamax pro EC 1.7 PH 5.8 Th20: 23.2ยฐC From time to time, we remove some unnecessary leaves. August 29 Since we have the grinspoon with some spider mites, we're going to treat the whole cabinet. Well, half an hour before turning on the lights, we did a foliar spray to get rid of this pest. 50 plant vitality + 2.5 cinnaport + 15 growth efficiency method 1 August 30 We finished this week. It looks good; the only thing is that they might have burned a bit from the lighting or from the fan that got stuck drying them out; I'm not sure. The conditions this week have been quite optimal, with a maximum temperature of 26.2ยฐC when ON and an average of 25.4ยฐC. The minimums have been 23.2ยฐC when OFF. The humidity has been around 52/58% with a maximum of 62%. The yellow traps are taking effect and catching all the soil gnats and other bugs. Despite having the grinspoon with some spider mites and a few other affected plants, it remains clean. I check it every day with the microscope, and there's no trace, even though it's in the red zone, which is a very good sign of resistance against threats. We continue to remove some leaves from time to time that we see are shading or anything. It looks like it's going to be very stinky because as of today, it smells quite strong, with hints of diesel, and I wouldn't know if I should say bitter as well. We'll see.๐Ÿ˜œ

MELs_Garden Week 4 From August 31 to September 6. Removing the tips a bit burned by the light, everything is very good. Optimal weather conditions. September 4 We did watering 0.16 Mammoth P + 1 calmax + 1 magnesium + 0.2 final solution PH 5.8 EC: 0.6ms Th20: 22.5ยฐC September 5 Since I don't trust it much and it's a bit affected by the spider, we gave it a watering with about 4L of water + 8ml of canna flush to correct the excesses created. Tomorrow we hope to give it the last pest control and kill all the spiders to be able to continue.

MELs_Garden Week 5 From September 7 to 13 September 7 Since we have spider mites in the grow, even though this one hasn't been touched despite having several affected plants nearby, we did a foliar spray with spider killer at 1mlโ€ขl. Honestly, it's impressive and we're thrilled with it. It's the jewel of my grow and it's performing like a champion. The buds are growing like balls and the fragrance... wow. Optimal conditions in terms of temperature; we'll try to lower the humidity this week to avoid any surprises. September 10 We haven't finished with the spider mites and we're continuing with the spider killer. Some are falling, but it hasn't managed to get rid of them all. September 11 We watered with 4l: 1 bud fuel + 2.5 heavy bud fuel + 0.3gr/l monster bloom + 0.5 vitamax + 1.5 solo tek + 1 calmax + 1 magnesium + 0.5g/l carbomax PH 6.2 EC: 2.1ms Th20: 23ยฐC September 13 We did a foliar spray with vitality plus 50ml/l for the pest that's affecting some parts of the grow.

MELs_Garden Well, we consider our Desert Diesel from Humboldt Seeds finished. GROWTH We were given a cutting of Desert Diesel that we put into growth, and the cutting festival began. If I'm not mistaken, we took 4 apical cuts with the corresponding training. It's not a bad strain, but I don't think it's ideal for training; however, it might be highly recommended for SOG. It grew with a lot of strength and very thick stems. Its leaves were wide and large, showcasing its indica genetics. It ate like a champion and never gave any problems. Very good growth. FLOWERING: Charming, it made a beautiful bouquet of buds. The buds grew in the shape of balls, expanding outwards. The buds are filled with terpenes everywhere, an abundance of orange terpenes. Around week 4/5, it started to take on purple hues, creating a lovely picture. In the last weeks, it was a sight to behold; the round buds, orange terpenes, purple leaves, and the resin. Incredible. Its aroma is practically diesel that penetrates deep inside you, but not as strong as a pure diesel. Although the diesel predominates, it has a scent that I can't quite describe, maybe citrus/fruity; in conclusion, a very rich aroma. TASTING DESERT DIESEL Once we dried our Desert Diesel, we put it into glass jars and let it cure for about a month and a half. The buds are compact and quite resinous with a very strong smell. They break down well when you grind them. When smoked, the flavor is very similar to its aroma. It leaves your mouth with that diesel taste with a citrus, earthy, and fruity touch; it's very easy to smoke and suitable for almost all types of activities. The effect is quite manageable, although it's not mild; I love it. Conclusions: I would grow it again, especially knowing what I've learned; I love its flavor when smoking and its effect. A great choice, I'm very happy. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you all, and special thanks to Crazy Roots!

Hey, Your plant is nice ! Is it a cutting or was it started from seeds ? Also can I ask why did you removed the bottom leaves when topping the plant ?

Hey @akimori, this is a clone taken from the tip of a desert diesel. I trimmed the leaves because I was planning to train only the 2 shoots and to focus the energy more on them; the two lower shoots have been cut as well.
