Purple Afghan Kush

Day 1

6 out of 7 sprouted and are doing well.. still not much happening yet. Just giving them dechlorinated/ph balanced water when dry. 3 of the girls have taken off and are growing faster than the others.. but I'm sure the rest will catch up by next week.

I topped the 3 largest plants yesterday.. still no nutes yet. I will probably be starting to add some on next weeks update. I also started to LST the largest 3 right after taking these pics. Temps and rh holding steady

I topped all of the plants this week, as well as started some minor defoliation and some LST on the larger girls... there are a few extras in the tent right now, as a friend started his beans late, and asked if I could throw em' in the tent for a few weeks.. they are taking off pretty good too now. I think I will be going out this week and getting another bag of fox farm, as well as some 1 gallon pots so I can re home these girls for my next update. Other than that.. everything seems happy and stable

Here we are at week 5. Over the past week I topped most of the plants again ( I left the smaller ones alone) I have been using a foliar spray that I had leftover from a different nutrient line, so I am misting every other day with that, and misting with plain ph'ed water on the odd days. Likewise with the nutes, I'm giving 8-10 ml per gallon ( about a half dose) of solo tek grow, every other watering. I'm not measuring what each plant gets- I just water until runoff starts. Every other feeding is straight ph'ed water. I will be upping the nutes this week to 3/4 12ml per gal. Also on friday, I will be up potting some, and the tent will empty out a bit, as all but 4 of the dinafems, will find a new outdoor home. The saskatoon berry will remain inside, until they show sex- at which point, the ladies will join the others out side. Sadly these will be going to other owners, so no promises on pic of them. I also am starting a pack of white widow, autos. In 2 weeks time, the will go to a friends back yard, as we are curious to see how autos fare outdoors. That grow will be it's own journal. The seeds are soaking now, so I will most likely start that next week. The only other update, is that my brand new inline fan went for a big shit ( my own fault), and will need to be replaced before flower, as it is only running at about 25%. So that will probably happen in the next 1 or 2 updates. That's all I got for this week boys and girls- stay safe, and happy growin!

For week 6, I took the 2 cbd, 2 purple afghan kush, and one critical+ 2.0, and dropped them at their homes. I also managed to get my hands on some proper 1 gallon pots, so everybody got up potted on thursday. I let them sit until today (Sunday), then I tied most of them back down. I'll wait a few days on the others, and let the branches get a bit longer, then they will get tied down as well. After the LST I gave them their first good drink of ph'ed water ( no nutes) since Thursday, and foliar fed them. I'm hoping to see another explosion of growth, now that they are in bigger pots. I will probably aim to get them into 3 gallon pots I the first weekend in july ( mabey 2nd), where they will stay for 3-4 weeks before going into 5 gallon pots- at which point I will send them in to flower in mid August. I snapped a picture of the remaining critical + 2.0, as she got fried with nute burn over the last week, so I will probably give her a week or so to bounce back before I give her any more nutes. The white widow autos, are still sleeping right now, so I'll wait for signs of life to start the journal on them. See you next week!

I have just been watering when dry for the last 2 weeks, and giving nutes, every 2nd feeding. The dinafems look a bit root bound, so they will be getting up potted on Tuesday when all the other plants get picked up, so I'm expecting that they will bounce back nicely. Most of the pictures this week are of the saskatoon berry that will be going outside this week. Also a pic of one of the males that I found and culled

All the other plants are gone, so I can focus on these girls now. They got put in 5 gallon on pots last Wednesday. I let them dry out a bit, and gave them a drink with some solo tek grow and some camg+ on friday. My dehumidifier is struggling to keep up, so I will be getting something a bit better in a week or 2 before flower. My goal for the next 2 weeks, is to get them defoliated a bit, as well as lollipopped,. I also would like to get them on a proper wet dry cycle, now that they are in larger pots. The Purple Afghan Kush are both being a bit more stubborn to grow than the other 2. The leaves have been canoeing for a bit now, and the one girl got some nute burn a couple weeks ago. I'd like to see them bounce back, and all 4 to put on a bit more height before I flip them to flower.

Sorry for the radio silence, I had a hectic month, as well as taking way too long to get a problem correctly diagnosed. I had been experiencing serious ph issues. I went out 2 weeks ago, and bought a blue lab ph meter, and started feeding at 6.3 a week and a half ago. All but 3 are recovering nicely.. but the critical plus 2.0 is still a hurtin' unit. Based on the explosive recovery on these girls in 2 days, I have fath that she will come around quick. Although at 13 weeks it's already been an exceptionally long veg period for a tent grow, these girls have been stunted for the last 3 weeks. I'd like to see where they are in another week, and try to scrog them for another week after that, before I start to flower. Looking at the recovery on the gorilla (which was always a big plant), as well as the explosive growth on the larger purple afghan kush, I think I can bring this back, and have some really nice plants come flower time.

As predicted, these girls bounced back big time this past week. I dropped a trellis on them Friday night. This will be the final week of veg, as I would like to have a harvest before christmas😂. I lollypopped the 2 purple kush plants, as well as gave them a haircut to thin out whats on top a bit, in preparation for the transition to flower.

I switched the light schedule to 12/12 on Wed right before lights out - making today day 4 of flower. I fed them a full strength dose of solo tek grow on Wednesday, and again last night. Either Sunday or monday- depending on when the soil dries out, I will give them a good drink of ph adjusted water, before transitioning to bloom nutes.they are starting to stretch now, and with the lollypopping done.. i am just removing any large leaves that are blocking the light. And waiting to see how big they grow in the coming week.

Lots and lots of new growth this week. I had to try and re tuck some of the branches, because the purple afghan kush plants have exploded. They are all doing well, but the PAK's have just taken right off. The 1st week of 12/12, they got straight veg nutes. Then on Thursday they got a small flush of ph balanced water, and I began giving them a 50/50 mix of grow/bloom.

This week came with a challenge, as I live in an apartment.. so although its legal, I'm sure the property management wouldn't be happy. With that said.. the building inspector had to go through all the apts to check fire alarms. So I was forced to un scrog the plants, so I could put them on the balcony for the day, then take down the tent so that there was no evidence of a grow tent. The whole thing went pretty easy and smooth. Once the tent was back up and running that afternoon.. I took the opportunity to thin them out a bit, as the leave had gotten rather dense.. and we want airflow come flower time.this was all on Thursday. I think thinning them out as much as I did, finally stunted the other three to stop stretching and start making flowers, so they can try and catch up to the critical who is about a week ahead in flowering. Finally, I added the trellis again today.. but mainly just to keep the buds separated once they start to stack

not much to do now.. I switched them over to full bloom notes this past week. Now I am just plucking leaves that I see blocking light, and watch them fatten up. The Critical + 2.0 looks to be about a week ahead of the others.. but all are healthy and happy

not much new to report. I set the Critical+2.0 on top of another pot to get it higher so the canopy is even. I also did a pretty substantial defoliation today to get some more airflow and light to the lower flower sites. I also upped the calmag dosage slightly, as well as added some worm castings to the soil.

the critical plus is stacking really nicely now, and is definately a couple weeks ahead of the others. I was in the tent the other day, and did a count, and there are closet 50 colas. They are not going to be massive colas, but I think having those earlier problems, and vegging these girls for 3 1/2 months gave them the time to really get a lot of growth going. Trying to look through the lower conopy on the purple afghan kush is wild.. there are branches everywhere. I'm excited to see where these girls are in another 4-5 weeks. The gorilla is looking absolutely gorgeous right now as far as trichome production is concerned. She is frosting up nicely. I am transitioning out of veg notes this week entirely and will be feeding them bloom notes and cal mag only. From here on. I have upped the cal mag to address the deficiency in the critical plus, and the rusty leaves have seemed to stop their progression.

Starting this week the critical plus is getting 7 days worth of heavy bud pro mixed in with her regular nutes. In hind sight.. she probably should have started a week ago, as I think she will start her flush next Sunday.. the other three girls, will get a full 2 week dose of heavy bud pro, starting next Sunday before their 2 week flush. I also added a picture of one of the outdoor dinamed codes. The picture is from a few weeks ago. They are both cut down now, and drying. I will include pictures of that finished harvest, once its trimmed and weighed.

Not too much has changed in the past week.. all 4 girls are now getting the heavy bud pro added to the flower nutes, and I am contemplating letting the critical plus stay for the extra week, just to avoid a staggered harvest. Im going to start to flush in about 10 days.

This strain is like old faithful... I am reaching a point where I like to have one in each grow, not only because of the fantastic bud, but also because they are pretty effortless to grow
