Just picked the plants up on May 12th. Normally get my plants in the clone stage, however, these plants were 10-14 days old by the time I got them they are planted in 1 gallon Rockwool cubes. For this grow I will be manually adding 1litre of nutrient mixture every day. For the next grow I intend on automating this process. This is my first grow with this method, have normally grown in DWC.

The Big Cat Kush has some very thick, small growth near the base (lots of small leaves). Never had this happen before. Is this normal for BC Kush? Should I thin it out?

Let the Rockwool medium go dry over night. Plant is severely wilted. I watered with nutrient mix right away. Any other suggestions to get this thing back to full health quickly?

Rock wool is tricky if it drys out. Won't hold a lot of water even if poured a lot on it. Best to do small amounts like a cup every few min till its soaked again. Won't over water as rock wool holds 50% water and 50% oxygen. Don't nuit her. Just fresh water. Nuit later or tomorrow

Just noticed a couple of leaves on one plant are showing some ‘yellow’ spotting. Tried to diagnose but I am unsure what it is.

PH fluctuations or a beginning of root rot, have you checked the pH and color of the roots?

To defoliate or not? On my previous grows I have defoliate the day before flipping and again at 22 days into flower. This time around I defoliate 2 weeks before flipping. Should I defoliate again at 21 days or leave it? Is 21 days the optimal time?

I was told you can do it up until the end of the third week of flower, but another also suggested he saw better results if he did it all before flipping and then just letting them go till his final defoliation before harvest.. the choice is really up to you if you feel they are blocking bud sites or the canopy is just too think for good air movement. It's your call but i'd say do it now.. It's only going to get bushier!! Happy growing!

You did a great job. Its got a gorgeous full canopy. It really filled in after the day 20 removal. The only small thing i noticed was on the stems there's still small leaves and maybe minuscule bud sites, I would try to remove all that if possible. I had a habit of not cleaning the bottoms entirely and would get little larfy buds down there and even their small size still steals energy from the rest of the plant. The plants turned out great though. Keep up the good grows. ✌️

Hey growmie ... Looks exactly how I would do it. Removing everything that's not receiving light so you don't end up with popcorn nugs at harvest. I would advise maybe next time to do it in stages because some plants get stressed out from it and we don't won't that. Lol. Hopefully this was helpful and remember Happy Growing and Free your mind one puff at a time. Mr_Weeds_Autos

Hello Any chance you've recalibrated your ph pen lately just to make sure its running accurately? Otherwise those high powered lights will cause curling(especially the curl upwards) and discoloration if they're putting a lot of heat out and getting a tad close to the plants.

Looks like it could be afew things. Heat stress could be causing the curling. The brow spots look like a calcium deficiency to me. Happened to me when my ph was off. I second making sure your calibrated. And also make sure your ph is on point when feeding. Also is your hand feeling uncomfortable under the light? It could be to close to the plant but hard to tell in the pictures. Your issue I most likely calcium deficiency /Ph issue.

High there! Small tips : Close your light when you take picture, the coloration make troubleshooting very hard. Look like heat stress but can't be sure of anythin because everythin is orange :D

Warm greetings all! @Experimentgreen, we haven’t chatted in decades it seems. Nice to bump into you, and you know I respect your skills, but I am about to question a comment of yours that is commonly accepted theory. “... not cleaning the bottoms entirely and would get little larfy ... steals energy from the rest of the plant” I’m still uncertain about this practice. When a living creature thrives, I don’t believe there is a shortage of energy, and tiny sprouts on a massive tree are a sign of health. I think we potheads love fussing over our plants, but we don’t really need to. You said they turned out fine. @DixonCider asked “Is 21 days the optimal time?” There is no ideal time. Each strain, each pheno, and even each plant will respond in its singular way. Cannabis adapts swiftly and effectively to whatever torture you submit her to unwittingly. Enjoy growing and your harvest!

@growdoctordc, hey doc, yea I'm definitely no expert at this by any means..but when I first started growing I really couldn't bring myself to defoliate anything, it seemed wrong to cut living parts off the plant; but as I was encouraged to try it I definitely started to notice a shift in my plants and their flowers. Was it just chance that the plants I did defoliate ended up with more solid buds? Possibly. I think a lot of what happens is luck but some things actually work. Every grower has to find their own niche.

May 15 Stopped watering daily. Using the Rockwool medium as a guide. Fimmed each of the plants.

@DixonCider, Brother, have you another grow medium? You seem to run into difficulty with rock-wool. If folks don't have a watering system, i.e., drip lines, etc. ppl run into similar issues as you have. Just my opinion

May 17 On day 3 of not watering. Rockwool medium is still saturated at the bottom. I believe these were being overwatered before I got them. Plants are looking healthy. Check min and maxes on my temp and humidity. Min 15.5 degrees/ 42%. Max 29 degrees 88%. Not ideal so I double checked my setting and my light was on a 20-4 cycle, while the fan was in 18-6. Will check again tomorrow. May 18- set up dehum inside the tent at 55%. With exhaust fan off and dehum active my night temp is now 20.6 degrees.
