The plant seems to be slowing down. Inner fan leaves are yellowing, not sure if its PH, a calmag deficiency or another issue, going to be trying a few home remedies for those issues and see if she responds. A bit worried about the yellowing this far along, hoping its nothing.
Thursday: watered with a PH down and Epsom salt mix. Water measured at 6.1 when added, the soil had previously measured at almost 8 PH. I'm hoping to get this soil back to a workable range to prevent full loss of the plant.
@707grows, that drooping might just be from the hot-as-balls weather we've been having around here. I've been up north for a week (had the setup on every-other-day irrigation while i was gone), but Jesus H it was hot when we got back in town this afternoon!
The plant has boundaries... and i think 100º is going to at least be a little bit of a gut punch to even the healthiest green goddess.
@@Sonoma_Sungrown, that's great! I'm glad to hear that! I was looking at mine, I have 5,6, and 7 finger leaves. Not gaining much height the last few days, sitting at about 26 inches after tying it down a little. Also dealing with some drooping, not sure if it's over or under watered. Soil isnt soaked, but not dry either, but I worry the rockwool is maybe soaked. Idk. Just watch and wait now haha.
@707grows, no problem!
My vegetable garden results this year have really sold me on the dechlorinated water... so I just invested in these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YCHWL3M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They screw right onto your garden hose and dechlorinate your water as it runs.
Cheap AF, too.
Might be the easy way to go if you don't mind dropping $30.
@707grows, no big deal at this point. Just top dress your soil with some worm castings, water, and you'll be good to go.
You could also mix up 1tbsp of unsulphered molasses and castings (you can get it at the grocery store) per gallon of water, and water with that every couple of weeks. It's a crude tea that will make those good microorganisms in the castings multiply in your soil. They eat the sugar in the molasses. I bubble mine with an air stone for 24 hrs to make them multiply before I water, but many people just mix it in and water.
Keep in mind that you can cut that off at any time and start hammering it with chemical nutrients, or you can just top dress with some organic amendments along the way and do it all organic.
Organics also naturally regulates the pH and makes it so the plant isn't so sensitive to the pH being a little high.
I usually sit around 6.9-7
@@Sonoma_Sungrown, I hope so! The early flowering seemed to do nothing much for a week or so, a bit more showing now, but not much so far, has me worried, but I'm also impatient so I should have done autoflower, but seeds are hard to get safely it feels. Haha! I'm planning on being better set up for next year!
@707grows, same here.
I tested all pots this evening, and they were all around ~6.9 or so... and the plants DO seem healthier.
Now that you've got the pH looking good, I'd be willing to bet that you're going to get one helluva early flower stretch out of those limbs over the next few weeks!
@@Sonoma_Sungrown, also a buddy of mine gave me some dried kelp supplement. I used that and the epsom salt as an addition to the ph down and big bloom, I went from almost no additives to a ton in about 2 weeks, trying to stop the deficiencies at the same time while being nervous about burning it. 🤣 I got myself fairly stressed real quick. I think if I had leaves I would have turned more yellow than the plant!🤣🤣
Overall, she looks healthy!
If anything, she might not be getting quite enough P-K to stack as much as you'd like.
If you needed to, you could always hit her with a 1/4 strength flower nute and see how she responds.
@@Sonoma_Sungrown,I hope she packs on a bit of weight with the Tiger bloom, I think I got about a week or 2 left before I start flushing since I'd like to flush for about 10-14 days.
@@Sonoma_Sungrown, I think I had some nute buildup at the very bottom, I hadn't been watering as thoroughly as I should have been, when I ph tested soil high I was between 6.8 and 7.2, but I cut a small hole and checked about an inch from the bottom and it was at 5.4 or something like that, so I think the runoff took that out.
@707grows, 6.1 is probably on the low side... perhaps you could do the next watering at the 6.7-ish range just to get her in that 6.5-ish sweet spot.
Regardless, I'm interested to see how she responds to that Tiger Bloom.
I have a feeling she's about to pack on some weight over the next week or two.
Your plant's early signs of yellowing are where mine was about 4 weeks ago.
The closer it gets to flower/maturity, the more those deficiencies are going to hit us.
I have been losing ~8 leaves per day for the past 2 weeks.
Don't let yours get there!
@@Sonoma_Sungrown,I've been using a meter, its been consistently around 7.5-8, at times I've gotten it lower. I just bought advanced nutrients ph down from Amazon since I wont be able to make it to a shop until the weekend. Should have it Thursday. Heres to hoping we can save these girls! 🤞
I wouldn't take any notice of the breeder saying it should take 8-9 weeks that is best case in perfect conditions for that perticular strain and almost nobody can do that with exceptions obviously, most people add a couple of weeks to that at least, just be vigilant and it will come good for u keep it up 👍
@Steeluk1987, you are giving out 100% good advice here, no doubt.
That said, he's getting this figure from a dispensary that sold him a clone, and dispensaries (in my limited experience) tend to be a bit more realistic with the flowering projections than seeds/breeders.
@Steeluk1987,yeah, I'm mainly using the growers 8-9 week flowering period as a base line not an end all be all, just knowing I should be nearing the end of flowering somewhere around there and to pay more close attention to what the trichomes, pistils, and plant as a whole are doing. My trichomes are still almost all perfectly clear so I know I probably got at least another week before I start flushing.
Looks like that teenager is going to be all ready for the fall semester!
Your plant is REALLY responding to the organics and dechlorination.
Well done!
Bro... yes, she's yellowing, but she's also looking tasty AF.
She's definitely deficient, but the bud that's there is looking REALLY nice and frosty.
The Tiger Bloom you just added to the mix is FOR SURE going to help.
It took a couple of weeks for me to see new growth start to look healthy, but with your plants being in flower, that energy should be going STRAIGHT into bud stacking.
I think you're going to see a shitload of development over the next week.
@@Sonoma_Sungrown, Thanks, I hope I can slow the yellowing and pick up some bud height too! Just got a few weeks left for her to hold on and finish strong!
@@Sonoma_Sungrown, I brought her in mainly to get out of the wind and rain, early this morning. The light is a $30 75w light, typically used for seedlings. I also had the overhead garage led lights on to keep it active for a few hours while the weather cleared up a bit. The light worked well when it was a tiny clone, but I think it may be too weak for longterm use. It's good in a pinch though!
@@Sonoma_Sungrown, I had added aluminum sulfate yesterday and a little more today, watered it well(not a flush, probably close to 1.5-2 gallons, went back and tested my soil... down to 6.2. So I hope it can stay there and avoid flushing and re-nutrienting. Idk if it will work or not.
@707grows what usually gets referred to "overwatering" is actually "watering too often"
It isn't about watering too much volume, it is about not letting the roots dry out before watering again.
Water it like hell. Put at least 10 gallons of pH 6.3 water through it.
Then let it completely dry out (on bottom of pot as well as 1" deep in top) before you water it again. Probably 48 hours.
Curious: I see that you have been using Grow Big & Big Bloom... but are you going to be using Tiger Bloom now that you are getting into the heart of flower?
@@Sonoma_Sungrown, awesome to hear all is going well with the plants! I added castings back when I had the chlorine water problem, ended up using probably about 4 pounds or more of the castings as topsoil and it helped a ton, trying to keep the PH in check and soil healthy has been a little struggle, but I think I'm getting a hang of it haha! I may add another bloom nutrient to the plant, but a buddy of mine has 6 foot plants going and mainly using gypsum and kelp, he gave me some kelp to try and it's been good I think.. playing it all as it comes.
@@Sonoma_Sungrown,the plant looks like it leans so heavy towards sativa, which is weird because they advertise it on their site as a indica dominate strain!
@@Sonoma_Sungrown,thanks! I'm happy with the yield, especially when considering that she was just 34 inches tall, a clone, and in a 10 gallon pot and upon pulling the rootball out, seeing that it was basically root bound! The roots were so tight and dense , I couldn't really separate them from the dirt that was in there at all. Also made sense to why she drank so much water, and yellowed out early, and quickly once I stopped the nutes!
Hello friend, I've had a few plants with the yellowing leaves, just turns out to be older leaves usually and nothing to be worried about unless you start seeing new growth going yellow, maybe drop pH to 6.5 as 6.8 is kinda on the limit, but buds will fatten I've found the more impatient you become the longer they seem to take my gelato auto is in about her 15th week and just started flushing yesterday, keep up the good work and you will be rewarded 👍
@707grows,you will soon pick it up, I new abit already as I'd helped with a few grows before I started my own but you will always be learning especially from some of the guys/gals on here and you will find a grow style that works for you and your plants like anything practice makes perfect
@Steeluk1987, thanks! I appreciate the advice, first time growing and actually trying to do it right brought me some angst! Haha but its enjoyable angst!
@@Sonoma_Sungrown,thanks, yeah they really turned this week! Planning on a Saturday chop! Very few clear trichs left, and a sprinkling of Amber's. Pistils are still a bit white, but I'm gonna overrule them in favor of the trich color.
I must say, this FaceMintz cut that Flora Terra is propogating REALLY seems to lean sativa with regard to leaf structure.
Some looooong fingers on these girls.
