Comment - The VPD runs between 1.4 to 1.8, this is a bit high, but since I am late flowering it is not a major issue.
OVERVIEW OF WEEK
• The plants are maturing quickly. Mephisto says that the Sour Stomper is a 70-day plant. They are right! Harvest next week.
• The Super Uzi is a few days behind. But I expect that it will also finish next week.
• Some little gnats have invaded the grow room. I know where they came from. I planted some "big box grocery" basil in a SIP system with my old light. Hello gnats. So the basil is now outside and I am going to harvest and clean the grow space. No more gnats!
COMING UP
• Full harvest. Clean the shit out of the grow room.
LESSONS LEARNED (push down list)
• Day 57 - When you let the dirt get too dry it contracts around the roots and they can't work properly. You want to keep the media constantly moist. Not saturated and certainly not sitting in water, but moist. I think of it as water moving down through the media. you want it to get to the bottom, but the top should be reasonably dry before you water again.
• Day 57 - An interesting note, cannabis is close enough to tomatoes that you can bury the stem below ground level and it will simply develop more roots, like a tomato. If I need more soil in the pot or the plant stretches too much, I can just add dirt.
• Day 50 - Consider using rice hulls rather than perlite when I build my new soil.
• Day 50 - Another tip from a podcast, saturate the pots until you have a small amount of runoff two days before planting the seeds. You can plant directly into the container and you don't need to think about watering for 10 days or two weeks.
• Day 50 - It was also suggested on Reddit that I should have added my flowering tea a little earlier in the life cycle.
• Day 50 - You can reset an organic grow that is already is in flower. Of course, I should have noticed and treated it earlier. And, I won't recover those leaves that have been damage. But I am certain that the reset is allowing me to get all I can out of the remaining days of the grow.
• Day 50 - I think it is interesting that both nutrient burn and the lack of other nutrients.
• Day 49 - You can always see problems about a week before there is a real problem. Need to take better health notes and reference my earlier pictures more frequently looking for early signs of problems.
• Day 49 - Now I'm wondering if it is a shortage of something. Could be phosphorus, but I use Mammoth P according to directions. Calcium? Hard to tell.
• Day 46 - How can you "fertilizer burn" an organic grow? Might coconut water be the source? I read today that it is important to check your EC (ppm) when using coconut water. It is nutrient-rich, is that the source of too much of something?
=> Possible Cause #1: Coconut water.
=> Possible Cause #2: NLS tea. I need to check my pictures to see if there is a relationship.
@blendmedmedman, I am very pleased. I put them in jars today with some Bovenda packs. It dried too quickly, but I didn't have much control over the environment. The 180 grams dried to 57.5 grams. Very pleased. Now, it probably needs to dry a bit more an there are at least 10 g of stem included (I had to hang them somehow.) But the buds are very solid so I am expecting some good smoke.
I've already started the soil for season four. The diary will be full of details. All organic and closely following the advice of BuildASoil.
@TheOtherSide, thanks for the comment. I was way behind. I posted four weeks in the last two days. But now I am caught up.
I'm really trying to document what I do and to keep track of any deviations from my plan. That way I know what I need to do differently next time. I do like how quickly you can run a crop of autos. If all goes well, I'll get four crops this year.
Good luck with your garden as well.
@Tweezer, Thanks. Wait to see what happens in the next few weeks. I fell behind in updating my diary. I just started week 8 and had to fix an organic nutrient problem. It is all documented. I just need to upload it. Thanks for looking at my diary.
@GrowGuy97, thanks. I may finally be getting this organic/auto thing down. So much different from salts and photos. If you have any questions, just PM me. ✌️
