Dropped RQS Diesel Automatic this week, she has not sprouted out of the soil yet, but its only been 4 days. I expect her to pop in the next 24-48 hours. I'll add new pics once she sprouts. Planning a slightly different strategy with this girl. no HST, only LST, and FIM'ing instead of topping. Looking forward to watching what happens. She is front-center in the group pics. My Perpetual Harvest strategy…. Originally my plan was to start 2 seeds each month, but had some seeds from one breeder that did not germinate early in my rotation. Ultimately, this caused single seeds to pop and messed up my 2 at a time plans. But, that seemed to work out OK, because now I think starting one seed every 3 weeks is a better strategy. This should provide me with 4-5 plants at a time, instead of 6. By the way, I never had any germination problems with seeds from other breeders. (I don’t want to bad mouth any breeders, but the seeds that didn’t germinate came from a popular breeder/advertiser that is most commonly known by 4 letters). Plants get fed once weekly on weekends. Seedlings get water only. Plants in vegetation get water and Recharge. Flowering plants get water, Recharge and Big Bloom (Fox Farm). Feeding is done using 2 gallon watering can. Any additional waterings during the week are given on an as needed basis per plant. I lift the plants to help determine which plants are more dry (lighter) and provide water any plants via water bottles and watering spikes. I also rotate each plant 90 degrees every day in an effort to make sure the plants get equal lighting from all sides. I rotate the plant in place by turning the pot 90 degrees (I am not rearranging the layout of the plants in the tent on a daily basis). The soil is an ‘organic super soil’ I mixed myself using organic top soil, organic potting soil, organic compost, organic peat moss, organic perlite, organic vermiculite, lime, epsom salt, expanded clay pellets and Jobe’s organic fast start. I am also recycling my soil and water with Recharge when using recycled soil. For plant training I have tried a variety of things, but my plans here are to do LST bending only, no HST this time. Around 3 week I'll do a FIM cut/pinch once there are 4-5 nodes established. I will also be doing some defoliation around the 3rd week of flowering. I have been doing HST bending and having good results, but think the HST may be causing the plants to take longer to harvest. I hope LST only will help increase harvests while getting me to harvest sooner. Setup: 1- Grow Tent 24”x48”x72” 2- Viparspectra 300W LED’s (1-V300 & 1-R300) 1- Hanging 100w CFL (26w actual) 1- Carbon Filter w/ 190cfm Fan & 4” ducts 1- 6” clip-on fan 1- 700w electric heater - oil filled radiator (in front of air intake behind tent)

Grow Questions

Hello GD friends. My little Diesel Automatic is showing some odd mosaic'esque coloring on the baby leaves. I'm inclined to just let it go for now and see what happens. But if there are any suggestions on helping her out, please let me know! Thanks!

Kill, Fuck, Marry? She's almost 8 weeks old growing really slow. Still has the same odd coloring on leaves. Tried defoliating the most affected leaves. But no improvement. Should I kill her and cut my losses? Say fuck it and leave her grow? Or marry and try new solutions?

I can't remember the name but there is a disease that happens to tobacco plants that causes the exact same coloring on the leaves, i don't think it has any real damaging effect o the plant but i can't quite remember. I do know that it's pretty rare tho.

I chopped her down. I have more RQS Diesel Automatic seeds and will try again. But this sure did look like Tobacco Mosaic Virus, I don't want it spreading.

lol i know its a bit late but it looks like the problem you had might well have been an iron deficiency! click on this link for a look https://duckduckgo.com/?q=iron+deficiency+symptoms+in+cannabis&iax=images&ia=images

next grow try making more holes all over your pot, so more oxygen will flow thru, and maybe water less and distant from the base of the plant, so the root will develop all over the soil searching for water and when they reach the oxygen spot they will send signal to the base to send more roots to there. Plants need to be thirst often, and you should make the roots grow so the plant can grow.

Should I kill her and cut my losses? Say fuck it and leave her grow? Or marry and try new solutions? RQS said it looked like a phosphorus deficiency to them. I've tried giving her some Big Bloom & Recharge but no change in the past couple of weeks. New growth is small, I don't see any hairs at all yet. My gut says to kill her and cut my losses, but I'm curious what the GD team thinks.

@Jeff123fish, I’ll test my feeding solution next feeding. And also test the run off. But I primarily water with Recharge only recently started feeding Fox Farm Organic Big Bloom (1/2 strength. I would not expect the ph to drop into the 5’s, but I’ll Test and let you know. Thanks again!

@DudeGrowsWeed,yes it ends in the optimal range but that in Theory means that your pouring in a very low ph solution and then the soil is buffering to 6.3-6.4. I can only guess that maybe your feed solution is maybe 5-5.5 which maybe is too acidic for this plant?
DudeGrowsWeed
DudeGrowsWeed
@Jeff123fish, I watered yesterday and checked the ph in the soil itself today and the soil ph was 6.3-6.4 in all containers. Isn't that in the optimal ph range?

I had a rqs diesel automatic not even germinate, with your skill and it still failing, glad it didn't for me tbh. I would have stressed myself out so much over this but she was a freebie with my order, now if there's anything wrong with the USA premium wedding cake I will be mad lol

Such patterns on the leaves come from an excess of calcium in tap water. When you lower your Ph, calcium is released and takes on an easily digestible form.

do you use direct tap water? had the same issue before...

@James What do you think about the color pattern on the leaves with this girl? I’d love your opinion on this. Thanks!
